O'Neill's in Cardiff

Very very unfriendly manager, we needed to meet people at another pub to give them their tickets. He refused to direct us saying he will not help us find his competition. What he never knew we were a group of 9 that were going to stay there whilst I went to find my mate. We all just left and did not return and will not go there again.

Went in on a Saturday right before Wales played Italy. Pub was rammed but what a great atmosphere. Door staff were great, controlled the queue outside really well. Bar staff were brilliant. A blonde girl in an ireland rugby shirt was chucking out pints of Guinness like a machine, nice pints as well. Really enjoyed our stop on the way to the stadium.

I want to say a huge thank you to you all. Amazing service gorgeous food and most of all awesome seating. A lovely and relaxing afternoon/evening can’t wait to book with you soon x

Had a gon and tonic. Hardly any gin in it. Less than half a small dose. When I asked if there was any gin in these I was told, "oh, did you want it double?"... After waiting almost 45 minutes for our order (2 pizzas and fries), my husband went up to ask where it was. There was a mix up and it got sent to another table - we were understanding as there was a big group who ordered before us. We asked for 2 beers while we waited again for our food, which they gave us and then promised they would get our food out right away. We waited another 30 minutes before our pizzas finally came out, and the fries were another 10 minutes after that. No apology was given. Food was good but not worth the over an hour wait. We were also sitting right in front of the bar (where we ordered) with just waters, visibly waiting, but no initiative was taken to see what we were waiting for/missing. Also, when we initially ordered our pizzas, we were told that they were out of ingredients for most and only had a select 4 pizzas available; however, when we asked where our food was, we were told they could make the pizzas we had initially asked for. Weird how they suddenly had the ingredients.

Disappointing. Along with lots of other people that I know, O'Neills has always been my 'go to' for the rugby days/nights. In previous years the music was always great, music everyone could enjoy. A good mixture of indie, rock, pop.. traditional rugby anthems etc. Even great live bands. The music being played has changed over the past few years and is far too 'clubby' for my tastes now. Not many people dancing. We persevered on the Friday night, but wished we hadn't bothered. Left earlier on the Saturday and found places with a more traditional rugby night out feel to them. I noticed that O'Neills didn't have a queue to get in (most other pubs did). Lots of other people saying the same as I have and also left early. The ladies toilets were a disgrace. Toilet roll hadn't been replenished from the night before as dispensers were empty early afternoon and not refilled despite informing staff. It didn't look like the toilets had been cleaned from the Friday through to Saturday. Very disappointed with O'Neills. Only positive was that the bar staff and door staff were pleasant and polite.

Always a great place for a few pints. The atmosphere is always friendly, probably one of the best in Cardiff. Not many places that you can dance to the Village People on a Sunday afternoon. Staff are great. There's wifi and plenty of sockets if you need a recharge before a train journey. Guinness tastes great too
