One Over the Ait in Hounslow

Was in Kew over the weekend . My wife and I couldnt get tickets for the England game. Stumbled across this place . Lovely sunny spring day . Drinks on the upper terrace outside . Enquired about getting a table for the Rugby . The duty manager was very accommodating and shuffled things round for us . Food was excellent as was the service . Great screens for sport. A great pub with a great atmosphere. Special nod to all the staff . Tables were cleared and cleaned before you could blink . That is very rare these days . Thanks again. Mick and Jan . 🏉

Odd experience. Guinness was ok. Food was decent pub grub. Service was good and friendly. The bar itself looks great, and it does boast a terrace overlooking the river. Toilets were very clean. We watched the first half of a six nations match, but the atmosphere was so absent decided to move on at half time. Pity.

Beautiful venue, came here for a staff party. This was my first and time and the venue is amazing. Big thanks to the team for looking after us. The food was greatly received... a personal 'Thank you' to 'B' who looked after us.

A good pub to watch sports in - there's lots of screens so you are almost guaranteed a good view from any seat. Good selection of beers on tap, and the food is nice if a little expensive.

Worth the 45min walk from home! Friendly staff, amazing beer, good food and a lovely view from the terrace of the Thames. Couldn’t get better thank you for being a gem of the Thames!

A really nice place by the river, great atmosphere

Sports pub with several TVs dotted around so that you can see whatever sport is playing from most tables. Also a great games room upstairs. The food is good pub grub, and everything we had was cooked well. There’s a decent range of beers, and service is friendly.

I asked the barman for a nonalcoholic Seedlip gin. He said, we don’t do seedlip but we do sipsmith. I asked is sip smith 0%? Yes. I repeated: are you sure it is not 0.5%. Yes, it is alcohol free. He took the order and I asked him for the third time, it is 0% you are sure, because I didn’t realise sip smith did 0%. He confirmed with a smirk on his face. I went to order another one, and another barman showed me the bottle which said 0.5% alcohol. When I showed the bottle to the first barman he stood quiet looking at me without an apology. Very disappointing and really inexcusable service! No care for allergies or intolerances at all!

We had our wedding reception here and it was great! The package had more food and wine than we needed, and the food was amazing. They were super accommodating, with letting us set up, looking after our cakes and moving the seating plan around. The location next to the river is lovely and feels off the beaten track, despite being in London. Would highly recommend!

Personal don't fit to the capacity of the pub so expect a bit delay in service(especially if the event on the stadium). Apart of this you can enjoy real atmosphere and spend your time woth friends.

I spent New Years Eve here and it was very fun. The outside seating was gorgeous and I imagine that during the summer it would be a superb location for a drink outside! Really good fish and chips, a good selection of drinks and a pleasant atmosphere!

After walking the Thames Path we always find a spot to eat. Lovely staff, clean toilets, great food.

Great pub by Kew Bridge. We had a couple of meals here. Fish and chips were exceptional.

A bit expensive for Eastern Europeans, but it's still London and on the banks of the Thames.

Nice And Modern Pub next to Brentford Stadium...

We had fish and chips, nachos and Greek Mezzo. Every dish was fresh and tasty. Great value for money. I had to leave some, very reluctantly. Thoroughly recommend this relaxing pub diner.

I’m sad to leave this review because the pub itself is so nice, the location is amazing and the bar is really interesting to look at! But oh dear some things need looked at! The service was okay- I understand it’s the festive time and no one really wants to work but it was really off putting how unfriendly the staff were. The Guinness I was given was nearly undrinkable but when we paid nearly 7 pounds for it I drank as much as I could. We then went onto order some food including 8 of the Wings - they were very nice but the person who took the order made the mistake of ordering a kilo instead of the small plate said he ‘wasn’t sure which we ordered’ surly with the price difference of nearly 20 pounds it should be double checked.. and when the food was served, the response to us saying it was the wrong item was ‘well we have takeaway boxes’ - not a great response. We then were charged for the kilo that we didn’t order, putting our bill way over what we had originally wanted to spend. As I said the pub is really cool and the food was great but these things are really off putting and I wouldn’t revisit unfortunately!

Nice place to eat. Servers were friendly but I didn't like how there was a standard service charge though. Food was good for the price.

We were the only ones in, others did follow. The food was ok, not 5 star but certainly worth some. Toilets clean , floor clean and the bar lads did check on us , making sure all was ok 👍

Nice space inside and good location but the drinks are madly expensive, it was actually quite outrageous. We were here on a Saturday night and it was quite dead, no atmosphere unfortunately. It was also absolutely freezing inside. Sadly not keen to return.

This was my 1st time here and it was a great experience. Met an old friend for a couple of beers & the atmosphere was lovely. We ordered some chicken wings ( they do up to a 1 kg portion!) & some fries and they were delicious. I will definitely remember this pub for the future. Must be amazing during the summer.

We had the pleasure of visiting the pub today for a Sunday roast, and I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the wonderful experience. Amazing service. We were served by Sarah who made us feel very welcome and provided us with everything we needed. We felt very welcome from the moment we walked in. Nothing was too much and the food was amazing!! Fantastic experience! We look forward to visiting again in the future and enjoying more of your delicious Sunday roasts.

A great place for food and drink with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. Very family friendly and a definite place to go if you love sport. The pool table and individual sports screens are brilliant! Not the cheapest of places but definitely worth a visit.

Location, ambiance and atmosphere is very nice and pleasant. Vegetarian food choices are not many and not good. Good place to go for drink.

Food is a little pricey for what it delivers but the surroundings are very comfortable

If this place doubled the portion size or halved the price then it would have been good.

A quiet pub for its location, pool table upstairs, love it here.

We had our baby shower at One Over the Ait and it was a great day. We had over 35 friends and they made us feel very welcome. Everyone enjoyed the food, drinks, service and the beautiful Thames view! The staff and manager Jerry were very helpful - I highly recommend this team for your special events!

Where to start? Inattentive staff, overpriced drinks and food? I was waiting for a while at the bar and there were three staff serving and all disappeared before they served me by the time I was the only customer left. No acknowledgment or anything. The beer selection was very uninspiring as has become the case in Fullers pubs these days and overpriced to boot. I did get served eventually. It was a scorching hot day and the ice water was finished when we arrived. When we left the staff were dossing behind the bar doing nothing having still not refilled the water. The food was incredibly expensive. A roast wrap of a Sunday for nearly £20? I should coco. Probably the least favourable pub in the area. Shame they knocked down two perfectly pubs here for this dystopian new development.

Was going for food as says Riverside pub , not really Riverside you can see river from up stairs, didn't get the feeling I wanted to eat there, had a drink can't fault the service or the staff just wasn't for me

Great pub and great beer staff very friendly and efficient as I visited on a football day.

Nautical themed pub. Friendly service. We only tried some appetizers, were not disappointed. There is some outdoor seating overlooking River Thames.

The current team are doing very well including dealing with increased trade on match days. Well served by lovely staff with a wide range of drinks. Haven't eaten here lately but would.

I was not impressed with the lack of flexibility around booking a table for a Sunday roast. Moreover, the bartender was not very approachable, which didn't make the experience any better either. Will most probably say pass to this place if it ever ends up on my radar again

Locations is nice, food and drink just average

First time in this pub and I really liked it. It was mid afternoon, so almost no guests besides us. The food was great, and the staff very friendly. I love the internal decor, upstairs have somewhat separated places for groups. Good river view from the upper teracce.

Good location by the river, good selection of drinks, good for carching up with friends and family or meeting point from your river walk or bike ride. Looking a bit worn on the upper deck side but inside is nice. You can sit on the upper deck and watch the river life and boats or the start of a pub crawl onwards to The Steam Packet and Bell & Crown etc

Booked out the top floor for on Saturday eve for a birthday party. Staff were really friendly and moved all the tables in the space to make it all open plan and constantly had someone at the bar up there to ensure service all evening. The canapés were delicious- portion sizes were great. A perfect setting for a party with lovely views over the Thames from the balcony. Couldn’t recommend it enough! Definitely made it an evening to remember for us!

Nice pub close to Brendford Stadium. Great garden for the summer.

Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here along with a few pints! Maybe not the best meal we had in London, but our meals “hit the spot” after a long day of sightseeing. We liked the atmosphere and location along the Thames. Service was okay; could have been a bit more attentive.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at One over the Ait,and I must say it was a delightful experience. The staff at the pub were incredibly accommodating and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. A special shout-out to Myles, the manager, who went out of his way to guide us through the menu and help us choose the best options for our taste. The pricing was reasonable, and we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes for the amount we paid. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I highly recommend one over the Ait for its exceptional service, great pricing, and satisfying portion sizes

This is what was delivered to me for £17. The kids meals had more chips on the plate. Spoke to the waiter and asked him to speak / bring the manager. He brought an extra bowl of chips instead. Burger over-cooked and the ‘Gouda’ barely melted. Kids buns not toasted. Disgraceful. It wasn’t busy so no excuses there….

A great place to watch sports and enjoy the Thames view! 👌🏽 Lovely vibes and clean and tidy indoor options.. very comfortable sofas and big screens. Outdoor is amazing as well with a direct view to the river Thames and Kew gardens.

Fuller's pub, although not the biggest selection of their beers on offer. Mixed crowd, and a friendly atmosphere. Food was good and reasonably priced. Staff very helpful and efficient. 27 May 2023. Just the London Pride from Fuller's on offer today. Still a decent spot for a pint and a meal.

The pub it's self and location is really nice, unfortunately the food let's it down. The terrine was tiny, edible but a little dry. Burgers one was ordered plain it came with sauce the other burger was as ordered but was dry, tough, bland and generally unpleasant who thought you could mess up a burger?!! The lemon tart was also a disappointment it had a stale taste, previous lemon tarts have a little sharp taste unfortunately this wasn't the other desert was ok, nothing special. I know it's a standard fullers menu which we have had many time that have been fine ( not in this establishment) unfortunately this was not. The food is overpriced for what you get, we would of been better going to McDonald's and saved a lot of money. We didn't complain because we were going to the game. We certainly would not recommend the food nor eat here in future.

Service was really slow and unfriendly. They didn't border at all. Have to go to the bar to order everything and they do not show up even to clean dirty plates The food was over price and quality very poor. Kids burger ban was so dry and old that my 3 years old couldn't bite it. Beef undercooked and old potatoes. Do not recommend at all!

This bar is situated close to Brentford’s ground with a nice outside area perfect on a sunny day. The service was good, the clientele less so, it felt a mix between ladies who lunch and a crèche. I appreciate how people behave isn’t an establishment’s fault, however I don’t really want to listen to ladies who are working their way through a wine list and screaming children. That said, we would visit again.

Friendly service and lively atmosphere.

We came here after the last London Irish game. It had a great vibe and unlike football, the fans mixed and enjoyed friendly words. Decent size and copes with crowds well.

Decent pints, decent food. Great for match day, or you might want to avoid it on match day depending on your preferences. Either way, it has nice outside seating.

Good food and relaxed environment

It's perfect as a venue, on a sunny day in particular. A Fuller's pub with a good selection of beers and other drinks. Several tables inside and outside, with a balcony overlooking the Thames. Good meeting point when Brentford FC are playing at home, with a large courtyard between the pub and Kew Bridge. The parking restrictions nearby means it's not worth driving to the venue.

I popped in for a quick pint after the England v Australia match at Brentford’s stadium. I was lucky as the pub was closing at 10pm. I had a pint of Pride. Wasn’t in the best condition but drinkable all the same. Very nice modern pub. Will go back again.

We went to have lunch on a match day, other pubs were packed. Lovely place, nice views, plenty of seating outside. Food was really good, everything smelled/tasted amazing, portions were just about not enough for a hungry guy. The main downside is the price. £5.50 for a small beer is really stretching it, even for Central London, let alone zone 4. Also, if I pay £18 for a fish & chips (+ 12.5% service charge), I’d like not to be insulted when I ask for mayo, you literally bring out a teaspoon of that stuff. You’re skimping on the wrong things and given your location and prices, you shouldn’t skimp at all. 4 stars for the selection of drinks, atmosphere and amazing food.

Although we are not locals and have to get 2 buses to get to One Over the Ait this was our 4th visit. The former visits have been very good however this time we had some issues. The food was far from satisfactory. There should have been toast with Parfait, but we got just plain bread. The Made in Hackney Vegan Burger was on the one hand a bit insipid but at the same time very spicy. Whilst I am not allergic to species and they do not kill me I do not like them them. As there was no mention of spiciness on the menu I ordered the Vegan burger but it was too uncomfortable for me to eat. We did not complain because no one came to ask until we'd almost finished and we thought we could live with just bread and that I'd cope with the spiciness of the burger. But oh, how I wish the menu had mentioned it were spicy, I'd have avoided it in the first place. and why did staff wait till we've almost finished to check everything was ok. The drinks, London Pride and white wine were however, as usual, excellent.

We had a lovey Sunday lunch here - the roast was delicious cooked well. The staff were extremely Patient and very attentive with our large group of 11. No complaints and highly recommend this restaurant/pub to all.

Walked asked if they do a camra discount got a very abrupt no so left them pouring the beer bye. No wounder the place is empty.

Brentford flags everywhere, can tell they are all related in some way or another

The two staff members on Monday evening could not have been more helpful, very friendly and kind. Two of us plus our 18 month old daughter and we all have dietary requirements which the bar staff went out of their way to ensure were met. Enjoyed the food very much too 🙂

Good pint of Guinness. Nice terrace on sunny days. Not as crowded as Strand on the Green river pubs

Don't request any menu customization... We requested a two sides of chili for our chips, similar to the sides of chili one could add to the nachos straight off the menu. The wait staff took the order, but kitchen outright refused to accommodate this minor adjustment; quite a disappointment for the one who had planned his meal around it. Otherwise, wait staff was nice. Food was good. Price was fair for the region. Atmosphere friendly and spacious.

Poor service. Had to go to bar to get additional water, as the wait staff not only did not come around they managed to avoid eye contact for about 20 minutes. Confusing info when ordering and actual receipt of food.
