Was left disappointed, wasn't what we were expecting as a restaurant, its more tapas style, restaurant could do with a bit of tlc especially the toilets, £60 on what was 4 starters. Food was good but very little of it. Some chips or potatos with it would have been a little more filling at no added cost. Smaller bowls would be better on such small tables, it was slightly congested. Can't help but think if we went round the corner to The House and spent £60 on food we would have eaten like Kings.

We had a fabulous meal here. We had a variety of very delicious tapas. There was a good selection of vegetarian options and it was lovely to share the tapas between the four of us. The highlight was the Vegetarian Papoutsaki The service was excellent and there is a lovely ambience with Greek Music. It was not too noisy so we could chat easily. It is in a very characteristic part of Brighton, down the Lanes, so it made a nice walk to get there. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed an afternoon lunch on the patio after a long day of hiking. I had a few tapas: the Risotto Fingers and Ham Croquettes. The Risotto Fingers were absolutely amazing, and the Ham Croquettes were nice and filling. The atmosphere was very relaxing, and the service was wonderful. My sever, Sam, was very nice, attentive, and offered to turn the heater on for me above my table. Very much recommend this little cove in the lanes!

Great service and tasty food but poor value. Ordered the lamb chops and mousakka but was told we’d need to order something else as it was “tapas “ style which surprised me at around £18 a dish , ordered a veg dish to go with it which turned out to be just a slice of aubergine with sauce and cheese . Really disappointed for £75 including two drinks . Also TURN DOWN the radio !

MORE AT Google

The Olive Grove is not a bad restaurant, far from it. It is in a good location, it has a super little outside eating area and two floors inside. The menu has plenty of choice and the food was enjoyable. However we did feel that the food was overpriced for what you receive. We are in agreement with others that have pointed this out. We went as a couple and looking at the menu as a regular dining experience the prices seemed reasonable. However, this isn't a regular dining experience, it is tapas. Not that there's anything wrong with tapas, we both love to eat this way. It just wasn't what we thought we were going to get when we sat down and ordered a drink. Because it was tapas we ordered three dishes. One of those dishes at £18 was the priciest of the main dishes and consisted of four lamb chops, with some tsatziki. We also ordered a vegetarian pie in puff pastry (two slices basically) and some calamari. Don't get me wrong, the food was OK. We enjoyed the meal. But for the size of plate you are served the food is overpriced. I understand that this restaurant is right in the middle of the Laines and that it is a big restaurant and that rent and council tax and other overheads must be astronomical. I also get that the footfall in that part of town is probably not as high as it could be. I am guessing (but I don't know) that the restaurant used to serve regular meals in regular portions for the same price but what with rising prices maybe they converted to tapas style and didn't alter the prices. Nevertheless, our bill for two people came to £59 and whilst we did choose the food and the cost was displayed I still felt a bit cheated. That said, if you enjoy tapas and you don't mind paying the money the the restaurant is a cool place to dine of an afternoon when the sun is out. I would hope that in order to offset the high cost that in the evening they hire Manitas de Plata to play acoustic guitar and Carmen Amaya to dance flamenco at NO extra charge, but I doubt it. All in all though the service was OK, the food was OK and I would not discount returning as I am sure they ha e a great atmosphere when full. Just bear in mind though that food does tend to come when it comes and you may not get all your dishes served together. This is probably a great pla e for groups of diners as opposed to couples, but that's just my opinion.

I thought it was rather overpriced. It was our first visit with friends who've been before. They advised us to order no more than 2 tapas plates each. I had the feta and spinach filo pastry dish which I'd been warned by my friends that they'd found it a bit tasteless. I've eaten it in Greece and loved it, but this was definitely tasteless. I also had a dumpling dish which had very little in the way of filling. Each of the dishes were £11.90, not big enough to just have one, so £24 for a mediocre main course. My husband had 2 plates and 1 of them was £14.90. They brought a hot dinner plate to decant food onto, but that cooled very quickly, as did the dishes the food was served in. It was basically a plate of tasteless tepid stodge. The drinks were overpriced and the bill for 4 of us which was effectively a main course and a beer came to £158.😬 For a Saturday night it wasn't very full but it's not really surprising. The staff were friendly and polite. I certainly won't be returning anytime soon.

We'd reserved a dinner here as we'd seen many reviews and unfortunately did not have a similar experience, largely let down by the service to be honest. We ordered two glasses of red wine (£14.70 for both), the garlic bread which was honestly too salty but still quite nice, and the greek salad that for £10.90 was a really small portion. There were the grand sum of 6 olives in the portion and it was loaded with so many large chunks of really strong brown onion that we left because it really off putting. We were surprised it wasn't red onions to start but fair enough, we still ate around the onions and were having a nice time. An hour went by and we asked where the lamb moussaka (£14.90) was that we had ordered at the start with the rest of our food, and the waiter simply replied "oh I'm sure it's coming by let me check" and he just never returned. About 10 minutes later another member of staff came asking if we were done so OK to clean the table up, so we mentioned to him again that we were still waiting so again he said he was surprised it hadn't come and would check. We then saw him just tending to other tables not giving us any update. At this point we then found another member of staff and asked and she came and apologies and said our order ticket got lost and so they never made it and would make it ASAP. At this point it's worth noting that we booked a table for dinner at 6pm as we have an 8m old baby and dog so like to beat the rush, and also have an earlier dinner so that we could put our son to bed at a reasonable time. The waitress offered us another glass of wine each as compensation however as my wife is still breastfeeding she didn't want another glass of wine, and I didn't really want another either by myself. I'd much rather just eat as we were starving at this point and so told her no thanks but we would let her know later if we wanted something. The lamb moussaka finally came at 7.40pm (so 1hr 40mins after we arrived) and it was nice, but lacked a bit of taste. Perhaps a bit more salt needed but we still ate it obviously as our son was now screaming and ready to get out of there. We asked for the bill and asked the waitress to just amend the bill accordingly so that we can pack up and go. She came back and knocked off supposedly 50% off the moussaka and removed the service charge, but to be honest we felt with the general experience the moussaka should have been removed entirely. I brought this to the attention of the waitress who I found out to be the manager (Haley / Kaley?) and she said she didn't think she could remove anymore as we ate it. I explained all the above and how it now being 8pm for us meant we were massively behind on sleep time for the little one so of course we were going to eat it and not now go somewhere else. Adding on the bad communication from the previous waiters, it just ruined the meal for us but she didn't really care. To close the case we just paid and left, but on getting home noted she deducted £6.52 from the moussaka, i.e. 43% rather than the apparent 50%, and service charge is optional anyway so is an empty gesture. Offering the two wines would have been £14.70 off so surely just removing the moussaka would have been fine. Either way, Haley / Kaley dealt with the situation really poorly in my opinion and being such a touristy spot in Brighton you can tell they couldn't care less about service as they know they'll get people coming in no matter what. In my honest opinion, the food is overpriced and quite bland so I would not recommend them to others.

For me, the best place in Brighton. I'd like to return very soon to have some delicious Mediterranean tapas with a glass of cold white wine, enjoying the rays of the sun on its terrace, among Mediterranean olive trees and good people.

We managed to grab a table as a walk in customer on a Friday night. Excellent service and a great selection of sharing plates. We ordered five between us, plus a dessert, and everything we had was amazing. Highly recommended.

Big family reunion. We got the big table in the bay window of the first floor restaurant, and it’s a good table. We’re there for Sunday lunch, so standard roast dinner. Well cooked. Huge quantities, which left nobody hungry. An enjoyable lunch

We were in Brighton on Sunday, after hitting the shops we fancied a Sunday Roast, Googled 'best roast in Brighton' The Walrus, Ship St came back, so we decided to give it a go. The Pub is amazing, with loads of different levels and interesting decor, a far cry from when it used to be Smugglers Bar. We sat in the Restaurant, very nice indeed. The food portions are massive, I couldn't finish mine (a rare occurrence), I had the Sirloin of Beef, good taste 3 thick slices, a huge Yorkshire pudding and loads of well cooked Veg, the Gravy although plentiful, lacked flavour. My wifes Pork Belly was very nice but the crackling was weird, deep fried and tasted artificial. Our children's food, again, excellent portions and very tasty according to the kids. The bill was very reasonable £70 for five Sunday Roasts and a round of drinks. I would have given five stars but for the Gravy and Crackling. Service was relaxed and efficient,we will definitely return.
