We called here for lunch and each had a jacket potato, mine with tuna and my daughter's with beans. The potato's were small and the skin black. The inside of the potato was quite slushy and we formed the opinion that they had been cooked for a long time. We didn't have side salad with our lunch as it was £2.50 each extra on top of the price of the filled potato's. This is quite unusual, as every restaurant without exception we have been to, include side salad with them. My daughter said her beans were only luke warm too. We were both disappointed with the actual meals, although the service was friendly and welcoming.

A beautifully presented tea room. Amazing afternoon tea enjoyed by a gathering of old friends. The staff are super friendly and helpful! Going above and beyond to make our special afternoon even more special! So much so that a couple of days later I brought my sister along to sample one of the breakfasts. I feel this is going to be a regular stop from now on! Highly recommend a visit!

On my first visit I came across this little place and went in just to waste time whilst waiting for someone. The food and drink was amazing and the atmosphere was so delightful that I went back to Aylsham just to visit this place. I had a large mocha and when they brought it out to me I was very surprised because it was actually a large mocha not something that was only a mouthful more. The bacon sandwich was full so when it came to paying bill I felt like I had my monies worth. The atmosphere and staff were both very friendly and there was a nice buzz to the place. If you are ever in the area even if you have to wait a little for a table, it is really worth it.

Followed the advice of a local to this restaurant and we were very pleased we did. My partners cake ,freshly made in-house that day was superb and my egg mayonnaise sandwich was chunky and delicious. Staff were friendly and the place as its name suggests is oldie worldy but none the worse for that. As a bonus prices were very reasonable.

For 3 or 4 years we have been visiting this lovely tea rooms when-ever in the area and have always been satisfied with our visits. Then two years ago I think, it changed hands and ownership and became the property of a lady called Pam who has transformed a 'nice place to visit' to the fantastic place that it is now. Beautiful soft grey seating and pretty crockery and the young working girls are all dressed in the same matching outfits as is Pam also. They are happy to serve and we are all happy to be served by them. Lots of places just 'do a job' but here it looks like they are all happy to be working with Pam. I can promise that once you have visited the Old Tea Rooms in Aylsham you will return again and again as do we.

We were staying in The Ironmongers which doesn't provide breakfast despite being advertised as a boutique hotel. Old Tea Rooms was a brief stroll away, so we tried it for breakfast one Saturday. The decor and menu probably hasn't changed for decades. Menu options were limited to cooked food, and orange juice and coffee were pricey extras. Service wasn't exactly with a smile. The cook had clearly decided that scrambled eggs didn't need seasoning and they were also overcooked. By the time we left, the premises had been taken over by older folk with bags of board games.

This place is like going back in time, I actually do not have a problem with that, it obviously has its regular customers who all seem to know each other and the staff well. I chose to sit in the back, quieter as a rule, have been here a few times. The service is good, welcoming and polite. I just had a cheese scone and coffee. The coffee was good, it I cannot say the same for the cheese scone, it lacked any taste of cheese, even though it was supposed to be a cheese scone. I just failed to taste any cheese. Only two portions of butter, now I have eaten cheese scones in loads of places over the years, one needs loads of butter on a cheese scone, well I do. I did not ask for more, it should have done, that would not have made the scone taste any cheesier. I went to pay but realised I had left my purse In my car, which I have NEVER done that in my life. I was fishing around my handbag, a lady who was seated near me, doing the books perhaps, she may have been the owner, said it will be fine, so with that I told the staff who said just get it and come back, this I did. I am very appreciative of the way my stupidity was handled and thank you to the staff for allowing a customer, who you did not know from Adam, to get her purse and return. I wonder how many people would not have returned?? I would probably go in there again, but not have the cheese scone. Lovely staff....good service. Thank you once again for your help in letting me settle the bill!

The owner confirmed that they would set a space for us and be ready for 4 - normally the tea room closes at 5 but she said it wasn’t a problem at all if we went over a little bit so not to worry they didn’t want us feeling rushed. We arrived to a beautifully laid out table of sandwiches and cakes, scones (cheese and fruit) along with English tea for £9.95 each - great value, great service, I will definitely be back Thank you

So why would I travel 30 minutes to take a chance? They may be busy and popular but that makes my "taking a chance " even less of a viable option. Went to the Black Boys instead, great food.

We arrived a little earlier than expected, but that was no problem, and we were not in the slightest rushed, allowing us to enjoy the treat, and a good ol' natter. No negatives, however, just a thought, when I do an afternoon tea with cheese scones, I like to have a cream cheese to go with them and the chutney. Super value, so we will be back.

First time we went here a few weeks ago my wife asked for a mug of tea with the teabag in, the young waitress duly oblidged. Went back again and this request was refused by an older member of staff.....she told us YOU had to have YOUR Tea in a pot ! Her way or the Highway !! My wife ended up with a glass of tap water! We had already ordered food for four people or we would have left. I was ignored at the counter whilst waiting to order in the first place but held my tongue. Then the Tea incident was brought up again by same member of staff on her serving the table, she seemed determined to have the last word but I told her to leave the subject alone but even then we heard her ask other staff members what they thought as if they or anybody else's opinion matters about what someone drinks their Tea out of of !! The young folk who work here are all very nice but the more mature two ladies ..both very surly and one certainly has a Pot fetish !

Visited The Old Tearooms this afternoon and have to say it was a very pleasant experience, we had the scones jam and cream plus a pot of tea for two and it was excellent and a good sized scone, some places you go to they are minuscule but not these and a large dollop of jam. Service was very good and the decor and seating area was roomy and very slick and span. Treat yourself and I'm sure you will not be disappointed, we are going back and trying the home cooked lunch.

Stopped off at this fantastic little tea room in Aylsham Norfolk this afternoon following a walk round the town, happy staff with a great service, lovely brew along with a homemade sausage roll and chutney, Jack's brownie and milkshake with ice cream in went down well. Great value for money.

A shortish menu, but varied enough. The daily hotpots that are shown on each table as being the 'special' had sold out (by around 1pm), so I went for the fresh pasta with tomato and basil sauce with cheese. It was very tasty. My wife went for the vegetarian quiche (also very tasty), which came with a salad (also good) and new potatoes (tasteless - a real pity, as these were why she went for the dish).Pricing is very good; service seemed a little stressed when we were the, but was efficient enough.

We use this as our stop off for lunch on a long walk. Food is simple but very tasty. Today I had sweet potato and coconut soup. Delicious! Usually tea and cake, having eaten my sandwiches en route. Cakes are scrummy, and even better that today we could sit outside in the sun in their little courtyard. Thoroughly recommended

The reason my wife and I come to this lovely tea room from out of town is that we are guaranteed a lovely lunch with a good atmosphere set in a beautiful town. I really believe that Aylsham could be just like Holt with 1 or 2 great places like this!!! Looking forward to coming back again soon :)

Extremely disappointed to be told that we were not welcome with our well behaved dog in a tea rooms that we have frequented and enjoyed many times over the years. Luckily the bread shop across the road were more accommodating. Fortunately there are plenty of dog friendly alternatives in and across Norfolk that will be receiving our custom in the future

Previous visits have always been good - freshly made cake, reasonable prices etc. Not today though - cake was dry/stale. Juice was warm, as against chilled from fridge. Two dogs at tables - both dogs well behaved, but area is too small really for them. I have dogs so am not just being negative! It was a late morning stop, and after eating cake decided to read the lunch menu and order a light lunch...reverse order I know! However the waitress had other ideas - was rudely told that table needed to be vacated as they were busy and customers were waiting to be seated. Explained that I was about to go up to order lunch, but the message was the same...table needed ...obviously my money is not as good as other customers?

The staff were very friendly and attentive to the customers. The food was nice and quick service.I wasn't keen on a customer bringing their dog in though. It put me off. I like dogs but I don't want to eat with one. Its great for customers who are looking for a place to go with their dogs.I am not sure I would return.

A quaint, traditional tea room just a few steps away from the market square in the middle of the town. Tables of two, three and four covered in oilcloth, rustic bare floorboards, a good number of patrons. We popped in here for coffee. The cheese scones were nicely flavoured, although a tad crumbly for my taste, especially as the butter pats were a tad hard. The menu looked good, as did the cakes and other offerings on the counter (all covered with plastic domes, we were pleased to see); so much so that I purchased a date slice to take away for my afternoon tea. The very cheap quality paper napkins were a disappointment, not quite in keeping with the ambiance and the friendly staff. We shall certainly be returning.

Aylsham is a cute market town where I had digs 40 years ago. So, we went on Market day for breakfast and loved this smashing cafe - full of life and bunting. We had full English breakfasts and coffees with toast and were set up for our journey home. The cafe is about 100 metres from the main square, is dog friendly and is wonderfully welcoming with a wide choice on the menu.

We stopped at V’s after a family weekend away needing a place to grab a late breakfast for 4 adults and 4 kids. The menu had great options available for all from the traditional full English, to pancakes and a mushrooms and blue cheese plate which was brilliant. Nice coffee, tea and hot chocolate for the kids. Location was perfect to watch the world go by.

Amazing selection of baked good, we stopped here for lunch ( just a few tables outside ) and wow. Everything we had was amazing, delicious, so good we bought takeaway fur dinner . We tried quiche, scutch eggs, sausage rolls, spinach brioche and cinnamon cream cheese bun, all were fantastic. Would highly recommend Dollies, this is a little gem. Coffee was also excellent and the service was above and beyond very friendly and helpful.
