We have been here many times. The staff and food are great every time. Would have no issues recomending it.

Ordered through hungry house, immediately after confirmation I received a second email to say the restaurant had sent a notification that delivery time would be twice as long as they had previously estimated on the app (conveniently once i had paid) I called to cancel and was simply told 'call hungy house-not our problem'

Food nice and quite cheap but just FYI apparently the byo is only for wine which was quite a downer on our evening after we had just bought beers. Especially since nowhere on their website do they specify wine only.

We found this restaurant slightly tucked out of the way off Fulham Road when looking for a Chinese restaurant. We decided that Vietnamese would do just as well and we were not disappointed. I had an excellent crabmeat and sweetcorn soup followed by noodles with seafood which was an ample portion containing an delicious array of seafood including scallops, prawns, squid and mussels. No room for dessert! The interior is quite basic but the restaurant is bustling and the staff are friendly and efficient. Excellent value for money as well.

This is one of our favourites in Putney! The food is always freshly cooked with quality ingredients and really authentic. Superb value for money and the staff are lovely too. We go every few weeks to get a "fix" as we love vietnamese food and it is a nice realxing ambience. The management deerve to be really successful.

Frequently dined from this establishment and it is one of the best in the area. Consistently good quality, prompt service and a range of dishes to try so you don't get bored. Soft shell crab is excellent and their chicken fried rice is superb.

After reading lots of great reviews I thought I'd give Old Saigon a go. I ordered the chicken but when I tasted it, it tasted like pork....weird I thought so called the restaurant. They offered a refund but only if they could pick up the original order...even weirder. I then suggested that if they could send the chicken out quickly then there was no need for a refund. They agreed to this but I still and to hand the original order back...weirder still. This is a long story but stick with me as it has an astonishing end.Replacement dish arrived as promised and I handed the original one back. But the replacement dish still looked and tasted like pork? Must be my mistake, it must be chicken. By this point I just don't feel like eating. Cut to the owner of Old Saigon calling me twice. The second time I answer and he proceeds to tell me he is going to charge me for the second dish. After repeatedly banging my head against a brick wall he was still insisting on charging me.My boyfriend decided to nip down, take the replacement dish back and persuade them not to charge us for the second meal. The owner was incredibly hostile and proceeded to show my partner a photo of the fist dish implying I had eaten half of it and...."how was he supposed to serve it now?" At which point a more senior member of staff cuts in and agrees they will not charge. But I'm afraid the cat is already out of the bag....Old Saigon have spectacularly tripped themselves up. They reuse food that is sent sent back to the kitchen?! Categorically never ordering from this terrible place again. Approach at your peril.

Having recently visited Vietnam and spent several days in Hanoi, we were delighted to find this restaurant, which is truly authentic in many ways. The one quirky thing is that customers are asked to bring their own wine, so there is a small corkage charge. But don't worry too much as the High St in Putney has an array of well stocked supermarkets. (Beer, bottled water and green tea are all available if you don't wish to drink wine.) As a hungry group of four, we were able to try an assortment of starters and main courses. The sesame prawn toasts were amazing, also the really light spring rolls. The main courses didn't disappoint either, particularly interesting was the deep fried crispy fish (sea bass) and the beef stir fry, which was tender and lean. The after dinner sorbets were also delicious. Would certainly recommend!

Decided to try this place for the first time and it proved to be brilliant. Will definitely be making it a regular of mine!Good portions of good clean food. We ordered a good selection of dishes from the menu and they were all very good. Be warned though, if it says "spicy", it's going to have a kick!

Have eaten here several times now and have to say it is extremely good value. It is a byo and the restaurant charge £1 corkage per person. A basket of prawn chips is served with the menu. We chose the deep fried soft shell crab with its very light batter, salt and pepper squid, whole fried bream with garlic, ginger and chilli, stir fry morning glory which is absolutely delicious and one portion of steamed rice. After dinner half of an orange with its fruit diced up is presented free with your bill. Our bill for two was £42.00. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. We have also tried their home delivery and food traveled well.

I visited Old saigon this weekend and was quite impressed- summer rolls were light and fresh with delicious dipping sauce and the special noodles were well cooked too. A slightly bigger portion for over 8 quid would have been nice though

Sunday October 13: Another visit, and it just gets better! What fabulous value this charming little place offers. Once again we went a bit overboard, soft-shell crab, whole crispy sea bass, delightful king prawns in tamarind sauce...I cannot recommend Old Saigon enough. Outstanding food, nice calm atmosphere and good service. A real gem.

It has all changed. Gone are the wooden benches of 'Friends', now it's proper chairs and tables. What a feast! We had scallops with oyster sauce, papaya and tofu salad, whole baked sea bream with mango, and soft-shell chilli crab. Suffice it to say, we devoured the lot (just two of us), it was absolutely heavenly. This is now one of my favourite restaurants of all. Chef is a genius, the food so fresh and refreshing. Service friendly and aware, but not over-attentive. Perfection. And not at all expensive, price for a banquet for two just £50 including drinks. Magnificent.

...I'm a sucker for soft shell chilli crab and perfectly cooked scallops. Good value, if a trifle uncomfortable (they haven't changed the wooden benches from the 'Friends' days). Good food, though, nice goat stews and seafood. I'll give it 4.5, and I'll go back.

Finding the winning combination of fast, good quality and good value is pretty tough anywhere but particularly so in greater London where eating out is often an expensive choice. My family and I like a good bowl of phở and it's hard to find one when you have a high expectation of the ingredients and the cooking style. It's said that a good phở hinges on a great broth and Old Saigon does a pretty good job of hitting the mark. Certainly our experience is that they have the best Vietnamese in the Putney area. After 6pm you'll be able to find street parking on Chelverton if you drive but be prepared for a bit of a walk if you leave it too late as the street is often log jammed with residents' cars. The restaurant itself is very self-effacing, just off the Putney High St it is an easy one to dismiss. Opposite the old Wimbledon-Putney Synagogue and near the bus terminus garages the seating is all indoors and distributed over a split level dining area. Dining is at large benched tables with varnished wooden tops and in good shape. The establishment is really nice and clean and you'll appreciate the authentic touches like a small shrine near the door. The staff are pretty much all young, of student age, enthusiastic and though not always very familiar with the menu, make a good effort. Excluding alcohol a two course meals comes in at around £12-15 per person varying between about £6 - 8 per plate, exotics include Goat & Frog with a very tasty offering in the realm of Duck and spring rolls. We have been many times and will continue to go as long as standards are maintained and value continues to be good. Be warned there is some variability in the dishes perhaps due to different cooking styles and combinations of the chefs so a Stir Fried Duck with Cashew Nuts today may not be quite the same tomorrow; but all ingredients seem to be of a high quality and freshness. Take Aways are available too!

Reliable Putney treasure. The food is delicious and the staff are helpful. The layout is a bit like a cut price Wagamama with benches in rows bolted to the floor. The food is a cut above though

Great vietnamese food with plenty of choice - more of a wagamamas style rather than a formal restaurant although you are never crammed in. Service is excellent and food is great value for money - around £30-40 per couple with a couple of beers each. Have been back a number of times now.

It's exciting to try new things. Spied minced beef in betel leaves; "fresh rolls" and Vietnamese pork patties were all new to me, and all were terrific. I've had pho before, but it wasn't as good as this, which you can tell is based on a real beef-bone stock. No cubes here.Lovely staff too ...

Old Saigon opened a few months ago but we just discovered it. The dining room is simple but feels good, and the waiters are attentive, helpful and friendly. Two of us shared a couple of generous entrees and a big bowl of pho and left full and satisfied. Salt and pepper squid were light and well-seasoned (hot and salty without being excessive). A crispy pancake of pork, prawns and bean sprouts was sweet and tasty, and thanks to the waiter we learned that it is meant to be rolled in lettuce leaves with lots of fresh herbs, and this gives it a light and fresh flavour that eliminates any oiliness. The pho bo is THE pho bo. I have eaten a lot of pho in Vietnam and this one was right up there. They use nice cuts of beef and the broth is deep, aniseed-y and just sublime. With a couple of Hue beers all of this came to under 30 quid, which (given the quality) is excellent value. I look forward to working my way through the menu.

Reliable cantonese serving largish portions, a staple for years opposite the station, has now gone and closed down, it was pretty empty last time I went, but this is still a sad loss. Best wishes to the long serving chap at the counter and the ladies serving.
