Old Bell in Tandridge

Not been there for a while price has gone up a bit still a nice pub to go to.

We went in for a roast dinner while out and about, the place itself is very run down and the seats are very tatty!, the food was quite nice but not much off it, we went for the mixed (3 meat) roast dinner, however they had run out of beef, so we were asked if we wanted to double up on the pork or turkey that was on offer, we both opted for the pork, but we're very underwhelmed when our meals arrived. We had 3 slices of meat on our plates! And small slices at that!, 2 x pork and 1 x turkey! The roast potatoes were tiny also. We both left still hungry. I don't think we will be rushing back I'm afraid.

Great pub. Went for a quick pint after work. Service was great. Will be back to try the food.

We didn’t get beyond the drinks due to cantankerous staff and the menu content which had no roasts. Left and ate a great meal nearby.

A great place for a bite to eat at lunchtime. Gillian who served us has always been so helpful and friendly. Highly recommend if you are in old Oxted at any time.

Lots of dialogue I could go in to, but the bottom line is the staff are incredibly rude and the food is at best average. Save your money and give it a miss.

Roast was absolutely amazing…. BBQ chicken was enjoyed by my 13yr old son and Puddings were delicious. Highly recommend, we are definitely coming back for more.

Clearly not the right day to go to a chef & brewer as it was the day before a seasonal menu change… so basically half of the menu was ‘not available’. Would have been good to know this before hand as I would not have booked for our birthday lunch. When we did decide on what to have to say it was ‘ok’ is being kind. I could have done it better at home. The fish finger ciabatta wasn’t pleasant. The ciabatta was rock hard and the fish cooked to within an inch of its life. I had to take the batter off. The scampi seem to actually have no ‘scampi’ inside! It was comical. Someone needs to turn the fryer down. And I think we shared a portion of chips between us at best. Chef & brewer should not be dishing up food like this… thoroughly disappointing.

Gillian was lovely and the food was nice. Nice pub, nice atmosphere. Would recommend for lunch or dinner with good atmosphere for family’s.

We came here for breakfast as a family with 2 young children. The staff were friendly and accommodating, it was clean and the food was absolutely delicious. It was served quickly (but not too quickly) and portions were generous, even for the kids and their pancakes went down a storm.

Brought my mum for Mother’s Day and we both thoroughly enjoyed! Superb Sunday roast - good portion size and a very reasonable price! I roast sirloin of beef and my mum loved the slow roast beef on the bone. Unfortunately we were both too stuffed for desert! Exceptional, friendly service with a smile. Definitely worth a visit and highly recommend!

Lovely pub, very friendly and helpful staff. Great food and service , especially Gillian, who quickly got our bill and payment as we had to unexpectedly leave sooner than planned. Would highly recommend and we will visit again.

Waitress Gillian was very helpful with menu choices to cope with one of our party following cancer of the tongue and where she has limited saliva. The light lunch of salmon with poached egg suited her well and my chicken ciabatta with bacon was very enjoyable. We were looked after by Gillian very well.

Sunday Roast & Veggie option Me and my family were lucky enough to get a cancelled booking and I'm so pleased. We were served by Gillian and what a breath of fresh air. She made us feel.so welcome and gave us our space but was also attentive. All the staff were friendly regardless of them being super busy. I had the turkey roast was it the best I've had? Not really it was slices rather than a cooked turkey but it was no way a bad meal. I would score it 7.5/10. Good portions and I clearly found it tasty as everything was gone. I tried my mums veggie (mushroom) wellington and that was delicious. Now desert mmmmmmmm absolutely indulgent. I ordered the brownie as a chocolate fan and it was mind blowing. I highly recommend this place 👌 and will be returning just book in advance and the atmosphere was busy but calm setting. Saturday night. Not too busy and could hear the conversation around our table. Table had plenty of space around it. Plenty of choice on the menu but we all chose starter and mains from the specials. Attentive waitress. Would highly recommend. A couple of drinks each. Bill a touch over £30 each. No service charge so could tip as we wanted. Prefer that.

Booked a table last minute for a Sunday roast, we were met by Jacob as soon as we walked in. He was great with the children and was always on hand to help. Food was good will definitely be returning

Best Sunday roast beef, I ever had in my life.

Had a Sunday roast this evening, very disappointed. The Turkey was very nice my partner had sirloin and was chewy and only 2 thin slices. The yorkshire puddings were too crispy, obviously not fresh mad and the roast potatoes were clearly frozen and tasted nasty, like they'd been kept warm.The peas were under cooked and the other vegetables were tasteless. I should have realised that it wasn't great as I could get a table last minute on New Year's Eve

Was served by Gillian. Was very patient as we was very indecisive and kept getting distracted from catching up with Family. Will defo be back. Food was tasty :)

I went with my family 8 of us the Christmas dinner was the worst Christmas dinner ever had the starter needed bread as like a pate had to ask and give us one slice of bread for us all no butter the meal was disgusting chips roast potatoes mush Brussels soft carrots biggest sausage for pigs in blankets with no bacon so much gravy over dinner the Yorkshire pudding was so soggy not everyone likes gravey for £79 pounds per head at the end of the evening we had to clear our own table really disgusting would not recommend ruined my Christmas Mrs s letley on the coldspring table

Came here on 16 December as part of a large of 20 for a Christmas lunch after our annual Christmas Walk. There's very little, if anything, negative I could say. The food was excellent, well presented and good value for money. The winter ale was very nice too.

I was treated rudely. My party was also treated poorly and made to remove their hiking boots. Not hiker friendly, not nature friendly, not dog friendly, unprofessional. There are loads of other great pubs nearby to give your business to. It seems they don’t want to clean the tables, chairs, floors between sittings. Ruined my day.

We were with a large party and had a lovely meal with good service. All three courses were well presented and very tasty. The pub itself was comfy and very warm with a good selection of beers. Good value for money and we weren't rushed out but allowed to stay as long as we wanted. Thank you to the lovely staff.

The pub was lovely & has a warm friendly atmosphere. The food was mostly good but the sirloin steak, although appeared to be rare, was a little tough. It tasted lovely though. Would definitely go again but perhaps not to have steak. Enjoyed it overall & would recommend.

My sister and I are from Toronto and had a one day stay in Oxted on our way home from our travels. We had stopped at The Old Bell for dinner while staying here, and had such a good time. The food was fantastic, and there were many vegetarian options available. I had the mediterranean vegetables and a mushroom and ale pie. Both items I ordered were delicious. I also had the sticky toffee pudding to finish my meal, which was to die for. Amazing food. Gillian and Jacob served us, and they were absolutely wonderful. So welcoming and attentive. I have nothing but good things to say about both of them. Thank you, Old Bell, for the hospitality and scrumptious food! I'd highly recommend this spot to anyone.

Disappointing service, but tasty food. We were a table of 4 that orders 2 trio Sunday roast, one Beef and one seafood grill (chef’s special) all of the table enjoyed their food. However, mistakes were made with two dishes which were missing some items and rather than being honest about the mistake, they lied about it, stating how the items were on the plate just “hiding under the meat”. Yorkshire pudding was terrible and needed to be sent back after the waiter was a bit reluctant, I got a better one. Overall an average experience. Rob recommends: Try the Korean bbq chicken for starters, they are seriously delicious.

Bland food extra slow service we where going. To have a Christmas Dinner at another pub under the same company but this put us off the chef and brewer pubs we would of had a better meal at a wetherspoons pub. The only reason we did not complain on the day was because there was 17 of us and we had just buried our mother and grandmother and we did not want to upset the other members of our family group. no surprise out of all the better Places we wanted to go where full and the old bell was so quiet on a Saturday afternoon

We booked Saturday 30 September 3 tables 17 people this was one of worst meals we probably ever had in a Green King pub the food was over cooked Server warm no hot with no taste They need to up their game

We had the Sunday roast. All cooked to perfection. Service was great. It was busy but our waitress was calm and efficient, checking in with us that all was well. I would recommend and hope to return.

The food here is fantastic. I had a vegan mushroom and ale pie which was absolutely delightful. My wife had cod and chips which she raved about. Service was great and very friendly. It was a bit quiet when we went in but it was a Tuesday. Highly recommended, the only downside was that the gents toilet was a bit smelly.
