Ola Kala in Edinburgh, City of

Tasty food, but serious hygiene issues. I watched the chef, wearing gloves, take garbage bags out of the restaurant and come back in with the same gloves to prepare food. Not acceptable. Will not return here.

Food excellent but not an ideal sit in experience as we had a constant door opening experience with delivery folk arriving for take aways. Decor very basic but staff very nice just more of a takeaway place than a restaurant

Excellent Greek "fast-food". I went there for dinner twice, had the (half) mixed grill the first time and the pork gyro the second time. Both were great. The gyro seemed to be like the real thing - I had one at first but couldn't resist from having one more. I also very much liked the Greek orange juice in the blue can which had no fizz and tasted like fresh one. The prices are on the low side.

Went to Greece this year and couldn’t stop thinking about the gyros over there and didn’t think id find somewhere in Edinburgh that was just as good but now I have! 10/10 the server even gave me some baklava to try which was really good but the pork gyros were amazing

This place must be good in the past, as this was the worst Greek food restaurant I have ever had. And it had good reviews and rating somehow. Meat was reheated and dry, I had to stop eating as worried about health and safety. Chip? I had better chips reheating overnight microwaved frozen chips at home, I would not consider what they cooked restaurant quality or chips at all (especially comparing with all the nice chips in the UK) Tomato was soggy, consist with rest of the food presented. Staff seems not fluent in English, good chance he gets so many bad reviews from customer and he had no responses and he agrees.

Food was absolutely delicious. Excellent service and friendly staff. First time visiting and will definitely be back.

We had a fantastic family meal from Ola Kala Grill & Deli The food was Amazing . so fresh and tasty and made us feel as if we were in Greece on holiday. We had a mix of starters , the Dolmadakia , stuffed vine leaves were the nicest I’ve ever had , and I’m fussy about my vine leaves , & the assorted Greek pies were so fresh and delicious. We had a lovely mix of mains , the country sausage heap ( the best sausages ever ) , chicken Gyros , slow roasted skewers meal & the dill & tomato roasted giant beans protein salad ( vegan ) , all were delicious . The olives and dips all tasted amazing as well. We ordered desserts but had to have them later as we were so full from the starters and mains . When we did have them , wow , absolutely delicious.We tried the creamy Galakto Boureko, angels hair almond roll , zesty orange cake , moist walnut cinnamon cake & mix of juicy Greek treats . We ordered cherries & nuts yoghurt with thyme honey for breakfast the next day & it was so tasty. We bought some awarded extra virgin kalamaki olive oil as well as it comes from the family’s own groves & smells & tastes wonderful . The service was excellent & friendly . We would highly recommend Ola Kala if you want delicious authentic Greek food

What an amazing treat we had today AT THE PARK!!!!! We ordered kebabs main courses, a salad and a wonder plate called halloumi -dips and pitas. and sure it was!!! full of flavour with different dips, olives and halloumi pieces!!! The portions were very generous and the quality great. Easily enough for 4.My only criticism is that the website, although overall very good, I found impossible to select the delivery option rather than pick up and had to phone the Resturaunt to sort that out. However the gentleman I spoke to sorted it out immediately, was very friendly and everything arrived on time, in tip top condition and with a very cheery delivery driver. Definitely the go to for Greek food in Edinburgh x

First let me say that I am Greek and this was by far the worst souvlaki I have ever had in my life. Let me explain why. The meat firstly did not taste fresh. The yellow colouring on the meat suggests it was kept in oil for a days. (A method used for preserving meat to last longer) I am a chef and I know. This is done when you cannot serve fresh meat due to not knowing the volume of work. The shape of the meat was perfecty flat small bars on a stick all stuck together as if it's one piece of meat suggesting that it comes like this from a factory. The taste was oily and had an intense meat smell. Something that is not present if meat is grilled as the fat burns off and the intense smell of pork goes and is replaced by a charcoal / grill odour. Obviously this meat is not grilled but processed on arrival and just flat pressed on a hot plate to warm it up ready to be served. This is just my theory unless your chef doesnt know to grill meat. Anyhow this is Unacceptable! Look at the photo and you judge for yourself if this a cubed pieces freshly cut/ grilled souvlaki or not. Souvlaki means small pieces of meat charred on a grill all round not one whole piece of flat meat.

We were so looking forward to our Greek meal from this highly rated establishment in Edinburgh. We made the order through Uber Eats. It came within the time that it said it would which was good, however we were extremely disappointed. We ordered the meat platter. The meat was over cooked, cold and stale. Maybe cooked hours before and tasted like it had sitting for a while? Pitta was dry. Halloumi was so disappointing. Chips were stale and clearly overcooked. Tomatoes were soggy. Presentation was awful - maybe get better takeaway boxes and not just throw all of the meat into one box? The dips were nice, however. So disappointing as we were really looking forward to it after reading great reviews.Would not recommend delivery.

The vegetable burger is a kind of soft mashed potato patty with a good amount of mixed vegetables in a breadcrumb. It comes prepared with nice fresh slices of tomato, some salad leaves which looked like maybe spinach or similar, and your choice of sauce. It also has some french fries in it!! - all wrapped in a delicious kind of flatbread I think (much nicer than a plain fajita).It is quite simply delicious and I'm buying regularly as a meal. Satisfying, healthful and soooo good!!The sauces you can choose from include a tzatziki I'm told is great, and a paprika/pepper one I have as vegan.I also enjoy the salads and breads.Thank you Ola Kala!! so tasty with all the veggies, breads, and sauces.ps the thermal bag is good at keeping it warm - it's always been a good temperature on delivery

After waiting a lengthy hour, we were called by the driver. Who claimed he was unable to meet us at the arranged location for contact free food collection. His English was very minimal which made it close to impossible to communicate with him. The words I could make out were “boots””Pizza Hut” and “north bridge”. So I headed in that direction. 5 minutes into my freezing cold walk he called to tell me to hurry up because he was parked illegally in a bus stop. I exclaimed that because he had parked so far away that he would have to wait. After finally reaching him, he was shocked to see me when I knocked on the window to collect food. He opened the door and handed the food to me, which I physically felt was already stone cold. Which left me for a disappointing 10 minute walk back to my hotel knowing I would be tucking into some freezing cold Greek food yum. When I finally got back to the hotel I was hungry. We opened the various items we had ordered to find a disappointing mush of food in very small portions. We felt that the food was inedible and it was pretty much just a stodge of food. Already raging after my freezing cold walk I rang the restaurant to complain to which they said there was nothing they could do about a refund due to it being ordered through just eat. To add insult to injury the restaurant charged a £2 delivery fee. It would have been easier for me to collect it. Even our dog turnt his nose up to a piece of the food, so something isn’t adding up here as he is a Labrador...So I advise all readers to not order from this restaurant via “Just Eat”.

Quiero decir, fue agradable, pero para 8 eso es mucho, luego comí panes pitta con algunas salsas, esta fue una comida excelente, pero casi 20 para una persona, la comida para llevar es mucho, no regresaría porque es tan caro, me encanta una ensalada griega, pero por una caja pequeña - 8 il la hago yo mismo.

Pedí comida para llevar con Deliveryoo, obtuve una oferta de giroscopios para 2 y recibí un kebab turco seco y sin sabor. Los pasteles dulces estaban empapados en almíbar de azúcar y no eran comestibles.Es una decepción y no es nada barato, nada que ver con la comida griega.

Alimentos de primer nivel. La comida fue absolutamente asombrosa. Solíamos comer en un griego en bellshill, pero viajamos desde Airdrie cuando nos enteramos de que era un sustituto cercano. Es seguro decir que no nos decepcionó. La comida era excelente y el servicio fantástico. Definitivamente vendría de nuevo. No puedo recomendar la parrillada mixta lo suficiente. También sirven una cerveza griega encantadora (Mythos).

Somos clientes habituales de Ola Kala y hemos venido todos los domingos como un regalo durante los últimos meses. Los Wraps son fantásticos, recién hechos, refrescantes y abundantes, y el baklava también es excelente, también una pequeña selección de vino y cerveza griegos. Ich habe dieses Lokal von Costa bereits vor 1,5 Jahren das erste Mal kennengelernt und es hat mir auf Anhieb dort gefallen.Vor 14 Tagen war ich wieder in Edinburgh und natürlich ( nicht nur einmal ) bei Costa. Er hat mich sofort wiedererkannt und wir hatten, wie immer, gute Gespräche.Das Essen ist einfach Top. Man kann auch gerne sein eigenes Menü zusammenstellen und muß sich nicht streng an die Speisekarte halten. Die Einrichtung ist schlicht, aber man bekommt gerade deshalb den Eiondruck, in einem gemütlichen Lokal in Griechenland zu sitzen.Im August bin ich mit Freunden wieder in der Stadt und Costa und das Ola Kala wird mit Sicherheit die erste Adresse sein, wo wir essen werden.Deshalb: alle Daumen hoch für das Ola Kala !!

Small Greek cafe in the centre of Edinburgh seving authentic greek food at very reasonable prices. Food was excellent as was the service. Would reccomend a meze starter with gyros to follow, you will think you are in Greece.The cafe is small so it would be wise to book ahead.Had Greek wine (not Retsina) and Mythos beer. What more do you want ??????

Muchas de las excelentes reseñas de Google nos llevaron aquí la noche del sábado a las 830, pero fue muy decepcionante. Teníamos dos entrantes y uno principal. Ensaladas, pasteles y platos con diferentes tipos de salchichas eran en su mayoría insípidos. Simplemente faltaban algunas cosas como alcaparras, homus y otras cosas. Comida de pub flácida en el mejor de los casos. No es especialmente barato tampoco. Cuando mi esposa se quejó de la falta de alcaparras, el tipo grande derribó 2 pero apenas se disculpó. ¿Fue una mala noche, nuestra mala elección o qué?
