Ocean Fish Bar in North East Lincolnshire

We visited Oceans yesterday. The lady who greeted us found a table for 2. The service was great. Everyone was friendly. We ordered a portion of haddock and cod abd chios fabulous. We polished off a couple of beers each and finished with a portion of cherry pie, my favourite. The restaurant was super busy but clean and tidy. Service was quick, and the food was tasty. Highly recommended

This is now the 2nd visit to The Ocean Fish Bar and absolutely lovely, hot fresh and delicious. I have battered Plaice which was excellent, chips, curry sauce and mushy peas. First time i went 2 weeks ago i have the home made steak pie, gravy, chips and Peas . Again wonderful and each time the service was perfect and servers very attentive. My favourite go to place to eat. MC Lincoln.

Lovely meal, we all had the special which we thought was a bargain Main, bread and butter, drink and dessert for £13.10 One went for steak pie, one went for fried haddock, one went for fiskcakes and one went for baked haddock (which came with a jug of parsley sauce and salad garni). You could have a choice of potatoes, chips, mashed or boiled and either mushy or garden peas. Three cherry pies, one with ice cream the others with custard. One took one home, Bakewell tart. We will definitely be returning Thank you

We had booked a Table for 6pm and the two of us were seated right away. Came here on Good reviews and What a Restaurant. Great Staff and really Clean and a real pleasure to be able to sit and Relax and enjoy. It would be nice if we knew the Staff Members name's Because they are so worth all the Praise that comes their way. So We Say A Huge Thank You To The Ocean Fish Bar Staff and The Jumbo Haddock and Chips and mushy Pea's were Amazing. Best Pot of Tea served in Cleethorpes. Thank You Again and You se deserve your 5 stars. Again You show that there is No ' I ' In Team and that you are all Team Players .

This was our first visit , although it is best to book ahead for a table we hadn't. We were found a table and had a lovely meal food was 1st rate. staff were excellent. We will definitely go back there again.

Fabulous as always, girl/woman who greeted us today was amazing, so friendly and helpful, and the waitress was lovely too, just a suggestion but perhaps the staff should wear name badges so we could personally thank them...yet again a lovely birthday treat 😀

As post birthday treat, I took Mum & Dad for fish & chips Friday lunch (not sure how that works?!) Dad is a notably "challenging" customer to satisfy food-wise 😉 and he absolutely loved it - mission accomplished! Mum and I know from previous visits that the food here is always first class, as is the service. Special thanks to Caz for looking after us today, we'll definitely be back again!

We have been wanting to try here on recommendation for a long time but live an hour away and venture up that way rarely. We had a takeaway to eat in the car as we had our dog with us as we had been walking on the front but had we been on our own we would have sat in. Our fish and chips were very good indeed, fish was so white and tasty, batter impeccable and chips fresh and hot, little grease either. Two portions and 2 drinks just under £20, fantastic value! We last visited another very popular fish shop in the town a while back now and was very disappointed and wouldn’t frequent there again, but without a doubt we will be back here and we won’t leave it so long now we know we can get such a tasty treat.

Went on recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. Quite the opposite. The place is clean tidy and cosy. The fish was cooked just right, crispy batter with moist, succulent fish inside. It was nicely displayed and we enjoyed every mouthful.

Disappointing meal, always liked the Ocean fish bar , and previously when it was Suthies. Sadly won’t be returning. As a local and a member of a fishing family, I was wholly disappointed with the fish and chips today. Small thin haddock that was tasteless and chips that looked as pale as an undernourished child from the 1800s. I can only imagine the good reviews are from trippers that are used to bad fish and chips.

Travelled from Sheffield and enjoyed a walk along the sea front, but the high point of the visit is fish and chips at Ocean. It was children in need day and all the staff were in fancy dress to raise money. For a few years we had meals from the restaurants closer to the promenade, but once we found Ocean, towards the end of a street running parallel to the front, this has been our destination for at least 5 years. Its best to book a table as it is always busy. Take away can be bought in the entrance, but for a great sit-down meal go through the chip shop to the restaurant. The place is scrupulously clean, the staff are enthusiastic and efficient. The quality of the food is excellent, try the special which has several options for main meal, sides and sweets, with a beverage and bread and butter, all in the price. It is great value and always cooked to order so very hot. We look forward to dinning at Ocean soon.

Brilliant service friendly staff delicious food. My wife and I were going out to a party and needed a small meal. The waitress kindly suggested the child’s portion which turned out to be a decent size fish and chips with a few mushy peas. We had curry sauce and a couple of slices of bread and butter. WOW!!! The best seaside fish and chip shop I’ve ever been too. The food is absolutely beautiful, the service is fantastic and the restaurant is so clean and airy. We visit this restaurant every time we visit Cleethorpes - WITHOUT FAIL! Firstly the staff are amazing, nothing is ever too much of an ask and they are always polite, friendly and welcoming. The food itself is absolutely unreal! The fish is always an impressive size and cooked to perfection - crispy golden batter and soft hot fish. My sons personal favourite is the sausage, he has it everytime. The curry sauce is also an absolute must have, the best we’ve had! Keep up the hard work guys, we think you’re incredible!! Have been eating here for several years now and visit regularly. The food is always very good. But I have noticed that the size of the fish has been getting smaller and smaller .Disappointed yesterday with size of a regular fish and the portion of chips. It seems to be hit and miss whether the fish is of a reasonable size or not. Fish yesterday was small and what I would have expected for the fish special. The portion of chips was also very small. Compared to the size of portions on the next table who had also ordered regular fish. I felt short changed.

After a long break during covid we have returned twice to Ocean Fish Bar. You just cannot get any better fish and chips than at this superbly run restaurant. Things done exactly as they should b, by all the team. It’s great to be back !

First time back in the restaurant since the easing of restrictions although we have continued to have our weekly takeaway. We always enjoy our takeaway but having their wonderful fish and chips served on a plate fresh out of the fryer takes some beating. Thank you for the welcome it is good to come back.

We spent a week in Cleethorpes and decided to do a little fish & chip research. Ocean was the third to be visited. We have been here a lot in the past so for old times sake, decided to pay a visit. We chose the Pensioners Special, which at £8.50 includes peas, bread & butter, drink and dessert. Unfortunately it was the most disappointing of our three venues. Like I said in a previous review, I do like crispy batter, and crispy this isn’t! I did enjoy the scallop though in lieu of chips.All down to personal choice, but not for me I’m afraid. That said, the staff are friendly and hygiene levels, especially with Covid, are very good. Good access for those with restricted mobility.Give it a try and make your own decision.

Been here many times and its always a good visit. Managed to get squeezed in on a busy Friday night thanks to the head waitress. Very good choice of food, and very resonably priced. Always a helpful service and a good atmosphere.

We went for dinner today, it was busy with bookings but after a short wait we had a table for two.We both had skate with a pot of mushy peas and a bowl of chips with soft drinks.We had to wait for the skate to be cooked and when it came it was perfectly cooked with great chips.Lovely table service due to Covid and a really friendly waitress who was attentive.We watched the tables being cleared and disinfected whilst eating dinner.

Tried Takeaway and opted for what was described as Jumbo Haddock with chips twice came to just short of £ 15 .When we got home and opened the box couldnt believe how small the fish was at most 8oz fillet regular chip shop size certainly not jumbo as advertised tried to call but engaged twice so proceeded to eat our dinner before was cold. The fish tasted ok cant say it was the best very greasy and chips what few was there were covered in grease from the fish for what it cost would not rush back again disappointed after reading so many reviews

Whether you dine in or takeaway the service is great and the food excellent. I can highly recommend. I would say this is the best place to get fish and chips by far.

Staff all very friendly and welcoming. Service was excellent, didn't have to wait for food. Haddock and chips were really good. There is a car park just opposite so parking was not a problem. It is a busy establishment, both in the restaurant and for take-away. If using restaurant, might be advisable to ring and reserve a table. Definitely a place we would revisit if we are in this area again.

I try and visit Cleethorpes once a year , unfortunately no trip last year. This restaurant has become a favourite. Every year the menu gets more interesting. I was going to eat regular seaside fish ' n ' chips and mushy peas but when I saw this year's menu I came over all middle class and ordered griddled sea bass salad with added proper chips plus a large glass of house white . It was excellent and as usual the staff , cleanliness and service was spot on

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food is absolutely excellent and great value for money. The service is very professional and very attentive along with a friendly attitude. A great friendly atmosphere.Very clean and and tidy. Staff pay particular attention to the covid rules and take your temperature before entering, making it covid safe and a comfortable place to eat.

I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The place is spotless, staff are extremely efficient and welcoming, the food is excellent. Try the sea bream….amazing.The “Covid” procedures are so thorough, from taking your temperature on arrival, socially distanced tables, staff being extremely diligent when cleaning tables between customers and contactless payment at your table.A special mention for Dana and Angie who served us, they were cheerful, patient and gave us the most excellent service. A big thank you.

This is our regular chippy to eat in at and here's why.... The restaurant is bright spacious and air conditioned with soul and mowtown music usually playing quietly in the back ground. On entering you are greeted, sat at your table and told the the specials, after a few minutes to look at the menu your order is taken and you make payment. The staff, although very busy are, quick, helpful and always polite. I choose the jumbo haddock for the first time and i was not disappointed, it was big but not overwhelming, the batter was crispy and the fish itself was thick and tasty..... Chips, scraps two rounds of bread and butter and pot of tea to accompany it was all top draw too.... As we'd already paid, all was left to do was leave happy, full and looking forward to our next visit

This was our first visit out with the parents since August 2020 and it didn't disappoint. Everything very covid safe, very efficient, our waitress Caz was brilliant nothing was too much trouble. There were no empty plates at the end of the meal!
