Ocean Blue Fish Bar in Ashfield

I have been too many chip shops in the area and I can honestly say that this is by far the best one. I have tried 2 of the ocean blue shops, however Kirkby Road is by far the best... The service is second to none. The owner is so friendly every time we have visited and has great banter both with customers and staff. The staff are very friendly and work very well. We visit usually on a Friday and even with a big queue, he always makes sure he talks to us and keeps everything in order. 5 stars from us

Friendly staff, great value special.

Always busy ( at least when I’ve been) which reflects how good the food. They staff are all organised and focussed. Great place. Oh and parking which helps.

Best fish bar in the area. Food is always great, staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. Definitely worth a visit or more.

Amazing food & service great offers always want more

Ordered a delivery tonight expecting a long wait. Ordered 4 fish bites and large chips. Food came in time and was out of the fryer hot. The fish bites were huge. The food was piping hot and tasted amazing ❤️

Ordered to the door food was hot but vile wouldn’t eat here again

Had something forgotten from my order phoned them up they bought my missing item and also gave me a bottle of pop. Absolutely brilliant staff they couldn't do enough for me

You want a chip shop? Please try these guys. As soon as you walk in someone will say hello.... Great service but just as important is the food..... exceptional it is trust me. Hygiene is a 1 and watch how many people are in and out of this place between 4ish and 7ish..... Thank you 👍

Great service and delivery driver forgot my can of coke by accident but phoned and lovely worker from the shop brought it to me in person and came out of work to deliver to me. A*****😊👍 Recommend a visit here for good chips and battered sausage

I'm not one for reviews, however credit where is due. What an incredible fish and chip shop! The owner has a fantastic relationship with his customers and staff. He is there every time me and my family visit which says it all. Very clean business. P.s great halloween decorations outside. They take pride!

Don't usually use this chippy but I definitely will be coming back. Service was perfect and quick. Staff are so friendly and patient! Would reccoment to anyone 👍🏻

Spent £10 on food and wished I'd of gone elsewhere the nuggets was like rubber burger was over cooked the sauce sweet chili may as well been chili was extremely over powering the burger and the chips weren't that nice a bit gritty like they've been dropped on the floor. First time trying this one as usually go the one in kirkby and that's always been nice since moving thought we'd try this one as it's meant to be the same? But it wasn't completely different in my opinion won't be returning £10 for what myself and partner got should of gone to morrisons or asda and got the burger and nuggets would of been cheaper and nicer to

Went here for the first time 3 weeks ago and was massively impressed by it. I automatically went for a large cod, chips and peas and it was an epic portion. Very well cooked too, highly recommended! Returned here yesterday and it was a complete contrast to my original visit 3 weeks ago. Didn’t get any photos this time but the food was absolutely disgusting. Had a medium haddock box meal with curry sauce, the fish was tiny, so small and thin. It was overcooked around the edges being so thin. The batter was soft and chewy (horrible) and it was very greasy and tasteless. The chips again very, very small portion, really scrappy ‘dagger-like’ hard chips, struggled to pick a decent chip out. 1 out of 5 stars this time… consistency is everything to me, so won’t be going back here again, the hunt for the best in the Sutton area continues!

Love this place but the Last 2 occasions we ordered the house special Very little salad just shredded cabbage no tomatoes no onions or cucumber Just to top it off it came cold and had to microwave the meat and chips In my opinion not as good as it used to be

Their evening specials are brilliant and great value for money.

The first time we ordered from here it was perfect. Ordered 3 times since and EVERY time since they have messed up our order - and its always the kebabs. The food is good but you never know what you're gonna get!!

Awful food and an idiot behind the counter arguing with his customers. Massive rip off and terrible customer service. Avoid.

Ocean blue fish bar is near Sutton in Ashfield town centre. Staff customer service skills were fantastic. They do have different meal deals. They do deliverys through just eat & others. Definitely return here again in the future

The fish is always crisp and tasty and the evening special is incredible value. Be prepared for a queue but worth the wait!

Found hairs in food and when rung up to complain the ‘owner’ and manager were really defensive. Will not be returning

As ever fantastic food and service with a smile, very busy with customers, and spotlessly clean. As with all other businesses prices have risen but excellent quality food. We had 2 specials and the portion sizes were just right. Next time I will be trying the home made chicken curry and rice.

Fish and chips were very good however at £13 for fish chips and peas, it really has to be great . It was a very nice lunch and staff were lovely too. Just not sure it was worth £13.

Best in the area. People travel from far and wide to visit this chippy. One visit becomes 2 3,4 and so on.

Horrible food, cold, paid £7:20 for a kebab cob and you straight up have me 3 pieces of kebab like not to be rude but that's littleraly like £1.50 worth are you mad

I live in Chesterfield and travel to Ocean Blue Sutton in Ashfield because I know I'm getting value for money, the food is always spot on , large portions and pleasant service 👌 On this occasion I had the house special kebab , can't fault it and it's enough for two to share unless you're a big eater .😉

If ever you are ever on Kirkby Road and need something to eat go to Ocean Blue and give yourself a treat ,its spotless clean and all the Staff try their best to please, even if a big order or just a pot of peas ,if ever you have a problem just let them know and they will do their best to make you happy, its no good just stamping your feet and filling out your nappy ,their standards are extremely high and we have been coming here for years my wife and me ,so its goodbye for now , because we are off to Ocean Blue to have our tea .See you on Saturday all the best to everyone at Ocean Blue from GES

Excellent quality, range of offers at sensible prices. The fact that the queue was through the fish bar and out the door said a lot! This is now my regular fish and chip shop.

Tasted like yesterdays fish, completely stale and tasteless. Very disappointing and overpriced, much better chippys in the local area.

This has been my regular chippy, my go to chippy since I was little. I've never been to a place as good as it, both quality and portion sizes are great. The staff are lovely. The fact that the carpark is always busy and that there's always a queue outside is testament to how great this place is. My partner lives in Clifton and gets so excited when he can have a chippy tea at my house because there's nothing that compares to it where he lives

I pre ordered on the app. Was acknowledged on arrival and told 2 mins. Food was as good as always and great value. Can't fault it

I Usually go to carsic one but was closed and Mrs wanted chippy so thought We’d try this one Atmosphere completely different from the moment you walk in they talk to you and the couple were hilarious bickering and she's got beautiful eyes I don’t think Iv laughed so much whilst waiting for food very good customer service the staff were very friendly and running around to get the customers served quickly with queue out the door Had a kebab and it was amazing folk moaning about prices but they are what you'd pay anywhere to be honest will be using this shop from now on

Ordered a lunch special - the fish piece was no bigger than an apple and was all soggy, no crisp to it. The chips were awful and tasteless. The size of the tray is terrible and not worth the money, it is the same size as a plastic fork provided by them! Won’t be eating here again!

Disappointed in my all day specials the sizes was unbelievabley small (got photo for proof) I go nearly every week and have same meal never had a problem but the blonde lady who served us today her hole attitude wasn't great and the size of our 4 specials was disgusting, I definitely will be waiting for another lady to serve us next time

We have never had a bad meal! My son was visiting and he decided to treat us to dinner, my partner and I had cod and he had a mixed kebab, he did not stop raving about how good the kebab was. Well done yet again as you have never failed us

Wanted a small take out was offered lunch time meal deal I had a few chip smal amount of peas and a very small mini fish £4.50 I rang the shop with my concerns and was told we’ve been here 25years etc etc great customer service not very-poor value won’t be returning,I do appreciate prices have gone up but £4.50 for a tiny meal is in my opinion a rip off

Always first class best chippy for miles

I have had an evening special every Saturday from Ocean Blue fish bar for a long time. Quality is very good, staff could be friendlier but I was always happy overall. However when I went for my usual order today I found the price had gone up from £4.50 to £5.40! I refused to pay it. I know costs have gone up but there is no justification whatsoever for such a large increase. No more "chippies' for me! They will lose a lot of custom whereas a more modest increase would, I am sure, have encouraged customers to continue their patronage.

Ocean Blue is our go-to chippy. Always have great portion sizes, well cooked chips and friendly staff. Even since moving out of the area we happily drive 10 miles to get chippy from here simply because we know they will be consistent with quality.

I've been a huge fun of this place up until tonight when they refused to give the food that I ordered online to my friend who went to pick it up! Still waiting for the refund! Won't be returning as a customer! It's the first time I have ever given such a bad review but they really disappointed me with their unprofessional behaviour.

Excellent, quick service: great fish, prepped quickly, and one of the rare places in Notts where they serve Greek-style gyros and souvlaki. A reminder of my youth in Sydney...

Nice fish and chips friendly staff but very quick

Good fresh food, polite staff. Sausages in batter were very good. Savaloy was not dry. Only gripe is the large chips is £3.70 and was nort big enough for 1 adult and three children. We also got sausages, fishcakes and had bread-and-butter butter. Our usual fish shop we always have some left over and they are not as expensive.

Absolutely amazing you can’t beat there fish & chips the large fish is massive it doesn’t fit on a large plate the mushy peas are gorgeous the only chip shop I’ll go to xx

Been having food from this chippy for years and have always enjoyed my meal. Tonight myself and my daughter ordered the evening special and I had fish and chips. The fish was cold in the middle and was slimy. The chips were more like crisps. Seems that another food place has cut corners once they have a good reputation. I will be ordering from elsewhere in the future
