Great authentic portuguese place with excellent food and service! Already my go to place every time I fly out of LHR! Highly recommended!

Worst experience ever. We arrived at the restaurant at 14:30. Waited 15 min for someone to take the order. Then we waited over 1h for the food to be ready not mentioning that my dad’s meat was really hard and they forgot 1 plate and even waited another 30 min just to pay. I definitely don’t recommend this place to anyone

A while since we were last here, but now even better. Good welcome, simple menu, draught Portuguese beer (Superbock) good food, inexpensive. Not luxurious, but comfortable. What more could you want? Went here on a Sunday evening and the place was buzzing with many Portuguese people - the Portuguese cup final was on TV, so it was noisy and lively. However, service was swift and the large portions were very good. I had the pork piri piri and she had some beef dish - both excellent. With a glass of wine at £3 and a couple of pints at £4.50/pt the bill came to just over £40. Excellent value. With frequent buses to all the near-Heathrow hotels, go here instead of boring formulaic hotel food! Very highly recommended

Such a cozy place to have a meal with your family and friends. Traditional portuguese kitchen, amazing food and wine. Friendly staff and really attentive.

A warm welcome, friendly owner, delicious food and fairly priced (house wine decent and a bargain). This place is minutes from a number of hotels and offers a great alternative to a meal in a cookie-cutter hotel restaurant. We ate (very well) and our bill came in south of £50, incl. a litre of very drinkable house wine. Will return, for sure.

We had dinner whilst staying overnight at the nearby Doubletree Hilton. The restaurant is cozy and well maintained. The welcome and service was friendly and efficient. Quality of food and service was excellent.

Let me start by saying this is a very good restaurant and the waiter was super good and friendly. My only issue is that their spaghetti carbonara is just not that. My mothers family are all from Italy and this is such a simple dish that most get wrong but when it’s done right, it’s to die for. Real carbonara is made with a crisp pork cheek, grated pecorino romano (a salty sheep's milk cheese), and raw eggs period! It’s not made to be a creamy sauce and never I mean never made with a cheap grated cheese!! They have traditional Portuguese dishes which is their main thing and I should have ordered one of these although I am not at all familiar with their cuisine. The atmosphere was friendly, the music a little loud and not good (always a matter of taste). So in all, this place is a hidden gem in an otherwise unattractive setting for hotel row near the airport.

We had a lovely meal in this lovely restaurant. The atmosphere was so friendly. Excellent services from Sonia and Anthonia. The beef steak was absolutely delicious and vegetarian pasta was made specially for us. Sonia was so friendly, helpful and professional. We loved our visit. Thank you.

The food was quite nice and we didn't have to wait a lot for the food to come . They also have a little groceries shop where you can buy mainly Portuguese food and ingredients if you fancy

Found this gem while staying at the Ibis. Went out looking for decent food and was really surprised to find this place in the middle of all the takeaways. Home cooked, authentic food, delicious cakes and desserts. Friendly staff and a place to sit outside in the sun. Really, really good. Much better value than the hotel food.

Unpretentious, excellent family run restaurant. A place where one can experience superb real Portuguese/Mediterranean cuisine. A cosy place with amazing wines, where the food is fresh and awesome plus one get a lot of food for the price. Am I biased? Sure. Portuguese! Just go there and check it!

Every year we try and visit, but Covid stopped us. So, almost three years later we were able ( we live over 200 miles away) to return. Obrigada, é como voltar para casa.

What a find lovely little family run place hard to find these days.Food was excellent and portions very generous .we had portion for one and it was more than enough.Wine very palatable and good price.We had chorizo on the fire WOW it was delicious.Then pork in a spicy sauce so tasty no room for desert. Would come again staff lovely

The food here is all ways amazing outstanding the service is top quality I have been here with family and friends 10 times now and we never have anything bad to say at all we have eaten in the week and weekend and the food is all ways outstanding and full of flavour I wish I could come and eat here every day lol

Really enjoyed munching the delicious steaks for about an hour with whisky. Good value for quantity and presentation. It has a wooden veneer and bar. Overall, a splendid experience

I've been coming here for the best part of a decade and I've never once had a bad meal or experience here, the worst thing to happen here is I've struggled to leave after eating too much (portions are big!).The menu is diverse, something for most tastes on there and very well priced and service is extremely friendly. A lot of regulars and locals come here which just goes to show how good quality and value the food is here.We have probably tried most of the menu by now, they have a boiled octopus dish as a starter which is epic and should be tried (along with garlic bread) and they also serve limpets on a (very) hot skillet/pan which are also excellent.Also, be sure to try their desserts, they have a traditional egg 'pudding' which is home made and fantastic, and they also do a chocolate mouse with coffee beans, a shot of brandy is added and that is divine!Looking forward to next weekend as this is where we will be heading for dinner :)

Excellent food and customer service and the best Irish coffee we have ever had. Great welcome and even when items were not on the menus nothing was a problem . Great service and great steaks and value for money and highly recommend. Must visit again.

On a Saturday night this place is so busy, noisy...CHAOTIC! Only came here as there wasn't anywhere else to get food from. I walked in and everyone who's sat eating stares at anyone who walks in, which I think is plain rude! It smelt of cigarette smoke in the place which was very of-putting. I just couldn't bare the atmosphere; Loud voices everywhere, loud televisions, drunk fat women with no class being extra loud and getting grabbed and groped by men, kids screaming, toddler's running around and dancing...shouldn'they be asleep..it's late?! I got a takeaway which I had to wait half an hour for! That was a extremely annoying half an hour..I ended up smelling of nasty cigarettes and breathing in second hand smoke!!! The food was cheap but rubbish...I guess you get what you pay for. The chicken had no flavor at all, like it was boiled and rubbery! The chips were disgusting too...I ate two and gave up. I won't ever return to this place. Below my standards in every way.

My son and I popped in without booking whilst on an airport visit to pick up his wife. It was 5 pm but we were welcomed warmly. The waitress was very friendly and professional and our two meals were of the highest standard. Recommended!!

Decide to eat at O Saloio Portuguese restaurant for dinner the night before our flight. What a brilliant find. Restaurant owners were lovely, food was fabulous (we had the beef kebabs) and wine was far to easy to drink (jug of house red was delicious). Just about had room for a traditional Portuguese custard tart (fabulous) and coffee, and a glass of port, the perfect end to the evening.

Friendly, warm welcome. Decent beer selection. Number of local men standing at the bar drinking. Little bit unnerving. Food order got a bit jumbled but food was plentiful and my wife's steak was good,but advertised as 'Fillet', it most certainly was not. I chose fish stew. Bad choice,far too peppery,not enough fish.On the plus side, the bread and the vegetables were delicious. We would go back,but we'd chose different dishes.Considering our poor meal choices,the whole experience was good.

For four years we have visited this restaurant every time we drive up to the airport from Devon. This year as always our welcome was warm and the food was to return for. No one does Belly Pork as well as they do. Thank you again.

We only came here because the Indian ( our first choice was closed). From the moment we walked in the staff we friendly and attentive. We were the only non Portuguese people in there which we lived. We were seated and served promptly and wow the food. It was exceptional, plentiful and delicious so much so we now want to go to Portugal on holiday. Seems like the place is a family run establishment and you can feel the warmth. Love this place. It's a little gem and you feel like you are already on holiday before you even get there ! Please support this amazing little business as when I'm back here I want to return!

Popped in solo tonight before an early flight tomorrow. Really excellent good value food, in this unassuming place. Had the beef kebab with an ice cold glass of house white. Perfect on both counts. Super friendly service. Will be back, quite possibly tomorrow night on my way back from my business trip.

Nos encontramos con este restaurante en un viaje a Heathrow, si eres un fan de carne se puede escoger sabiamente para obtener la carne a la parrilla con salsa de ajo pegado, la presentación también te sorprenderá. El hombre que sirve, llamado Sergio, él fue muy amable y atento, incluso me preguntó si necesito ayuda con el corte de la comida, si tienes la carne, sabrá a qué me refiero. Took Trip Advisors advice and tried this place, on a night staying at LHR before flying.Way not really sure from the outside, but wow... the food and service was great.I had the beef kebab... be warned its the size of a grown mans arm... perfectly seasoned and cooked to order.Lovely happy staff... even gave us a free after dinner drink.Happy happy find, honest food, lovely staff. Perfect way to relax before flying.

My husband & I where staying near here due to a flight early tomorrow morning. We found this restaurant via the TripAdvisor reviews and I can say that it did not disappoint. Simple but very tasty food, good friendly service. I can definitely recommend the beef kabab, amazing! Plus the salt cod was very tasty. We also tried their homemade desert of cream, condensed milk custard and coffee dipped biscuit, yum!

Stayed near Heathrow because we had an early morning flight. Wandered into this excellent little restaurant. Not a fancy place but the food was world class and it was inexpensive. Excellent muscles in tomato/onion sauce for starters and then one of the tastiest fish entrees I've ever had. It was a whole sea bass with crispy skin but light and succulent underneath. A butter wine sauce was included but that fish was unforgettable.The meal was served with customary Portuguese style boiled potatoes and steamed vegetables. We were so lucky to find this place. It is on Bath Road, just down the street from most of the Heathrow adjacent hotels. If you are staying in one of the Heathrow adjacent hotels, you should make a point of checking it out. Our server, Manuela, made the recommendations and she was spot on. Great food and service.We will go back the next time we have an overnight near Heathrow.

My friends recommended this restuarant ...when we entered the restuarante we were made comfortable by friendly staff especially Sergio.. he gave us lots of recommendations that hepled us deciding what to eat and was worth it. Its good quality food for a reasonable price definetly would recommwnd this resturant to my family and friends.The Espetada da Madeira com Milho Frito is a really good ..Special thanks to SERGIO, he made us feel at home and he was patient with our request.

Nice Portuguese restaurant where you can enjoy nice Portuguese meals ... Not 50 different ways of cooking cod, but almost!You can also try vinho verde and Super Bock.In average, it was good. Probably, I expected a little bit more because a colleague of mine told me that it was a really good Portuguese restaurant.The only problema is that we were a big group and we were seated in a tiny table.After the dinner, we were offered some Portuguese liquours for free ... This small restaurant is a hidden treasure. Located in a fairly nondescript part of West London close to Heathrow Airport, is does not look particularly impressive from the street. But when you get in, you are treated like a guest of honour in a Portuguese household. We were a group of eight and each one found something exciting on the menu. The food was absolutely delicious and the prices are quite reasonable. Highly recommended - give this place a try if you are in the neighbourhood.

Going out for a meal around Heathrow airport area can be really expensive and not necessarily good food . This restaurant manages to offer great quality of food and very decent portions at the right price . Portuguese (Madeira) style food plenty of different fish and meat dishes , try the skewers , you won't regret it

Staying at the double tree we fancied a taste of Portugal. And blimey what a taste.The caldo verde is excellent and a huge portion.Beef kebab is massive and very well seasoned. The pork and clams was outstanding. House white wine very quaffable.The service was perfect.A great evening.

Went today with the family as wanted proper Portuguese flavoured food and that'd exactly what we got.We didn't reserve a table just arrived and was seated straight away, we placed an order for bitoque for the kids to share (as quite big!) We then placed our starter course of clams, pão e queijo fresco And 2 espetadas. The bitoque arrived and the sauce was delish! The espetada de vaca wow... Tender juicy n full of flavour My ONLY complaint is the bread. If they served rolls or something a bit softer would have been perfect but it didn't stop us from enjoying our meal.We've been coming here for many years and the food and customer service has never had any faults Would I recommend? Yes defo Would I return? We always have and always will Oh parking is a nightmare though but that's not their fault it's the area.

I love the T Bone steak here, but the starters, the seafood and the service is great and you can eat and drink, it's London remember, for £25 per head. House wine is good and Super Boc is cold. If you're in the area give it a try!

We were here on the night of Divali and there were a lot of people. For this reason, I think the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed as it took a long time for our food. The poor hostess/waitress was running around like crazy! When it did come, I was very surprised at both the quantity and diversity of the seafood in my pasta dish. It was very good as was my wife's eggplant dish. We would indeed recommend, just on a quieter night.

I went to O Saloio on the recommendation of the bar tender at the LHR Double Tree hotel. 5-min walk. Myself and my work colleague were not disappointed. This is a real authentic Portuguese restaurant. The atmosphere is like the great casual meeting places you will find in the small towns in Portugal. Linen on the tables - I would call it casual with formal touches. The service is like you are a guest in their home. The food was outstanding. We ordered the chourico (like my mother-in-law makes), bread, cheese and olives for the starters. I had the Polvo with fried onions as my main and this dish was over the top great. The octopus was so tender - incredible. I highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. The prices are very reasonable. An overall excellent experience. I will be back for sure.

After checking in to a very disappointing hotel a short way from the restaurant, my wife and I were looking into the restaurant when this lovely lady came out and invited us in. After a bottle of there amazing wine sitting outside we then had a beautiful cooked steak each. Thank you so much to the staff who made our evening special after a dismal day. Would more than highly recommend this restaurant, must visit again!!

We visited this place as we were staying few mins walk up the road, good choice on the menu, i had the beef dish which was nice, seems quite cosy inside, a relax enviroment, small wait on food, this place i think offers takeaway menu and also does a english breakfast which may be handy for some travellers...

Stayed in area for 2 nights and chose restaurant based on good reviews for food. We went as family of 4. Waitress took order from 3 of us and removed menu before taking my order - I interjected before she left and gave her my choice of a starter of mussels and a main of swordfish. Starters arrived, I was asked if I wanted bread and I replied yes - it never arrived so I ate my mussels which were delicious but minus the bread order. The main courses arrived minus my swordfish - the waitress who had already forgot bread replied "oh dear" and I couldn't have a meal with my family as it would take 20 minutes and their meals were ready !! I was left with no main - I was very unhappy to say the least - no apology offered. We ended up having to split my husband's steak between the two of us ! We ordered 2 cokes, they were on the bill but they never arrived!!! A shame really as the food I shared was tasty but the customer service is nothing more than shameful - you'd get better treatment at fawlty towers ! No offer of an apology and certainly no offer of a possible free drink by way of amends - mind you we didn't even get the drinks that were ordered but charged for !! Until there is some serious staff training in customer service I would definitely not return ! Perhaps just simply the waitress should repeat the order back to the customer to make sure it is accurate and you have 4 people so there should be 4 main meals !!!

This is a super restaurant that serves delicious Portuguese cuisine with a lively atmosphere and a friendly service. We had the bacalhau à Brás (Photo), chicken piri piri, and the bacalhau assado- all delicious and authentic tasting home cooking. Prices are typical of the area and they stock all the popular Portuguese drinks/ wines/ liqueurs. The atmosphere is relaxed and family friendly -and busy! We had a lovely evening meal with our children and we very much look forward to our next visit!

The two of us had lunch, it was truly portuguese, nice restaurant, linen tablecloths, super friendly. I had bacalhau, very portuguese, my daughter had a steak with sauce, not quite so good, we had portuguese 'pasteis' egg-custard tarts for afters. very enjoyable.

I love coming here great food and good portions for the price you pay.Today I was disappointed with the staff. After finishing the food it took over 10 minutes before my plate was cleaned. The restaurant was not busy at all (just 4 people eating) but the waiter was busy chatting away for a good 5-10 minutes with someone else. Staff usually are good but today was not

Sergio is the waiter and he is very attentive to details and makes us feel at home. Well done.The menu has a variety of dishes and tapas like as starters. I do recommend the chorizo as a starter and the beef skewers

Hoje foi almocar com familia e foi uma grande desilusão. Detestei a comida por completo. Almoçamos o bife da casa a carne parecia congelada. Pedimos mal passada e veio bem passada e rija. O arroz aquecido de microondas e rijo. Fomos mudados de mesa por rasao alguma para au pe da porta onde estava friu.

Um local de atendimento excelente, bom vinho, um lugar agradavel para se comer um bom Bacalhau com todos ou então um Picanha do Brasil, o preço é muito bom e chegue com fome porque os pratos e a entrada são grandes. Bom apetite

Walked in as a large group and staff totally accommodated us. The food was fantastic, great portions and the real highlights were flaming chorizo and the beef skewers. Prices are really reasonable too. Staff could not have given better service. It may not look like much from the outside but do not let that fool you!

Came here on a whim with large group of friends, 16 of us! They quickly rearranged the furniture for us and catered to our fussy party! The food was plentiful and enjoyed by us all. The staff were brilliant and helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We have eaten here once.Big portions at a cheap price. And cheap beer! friendly atmosphere...My housband eat beef grilled witch wasn't good at taste but well cookt..the taste was really intense barbecue grill..however I will recommend them to spend 2 minutes more to cook well the meat to avoid to be burned or to have an intense grill taste.The other dish... potatoes with pork met was awesome..delicious .Regarding deserts...we have no coment..amaizing taste well cooked.

I actually live near hear thankgod I went in, great atmosphere, very homely, good for couples, family, friends even if you go alone. The food is good, but more importantly the red wine is good and super bock beer is good too. Everything wel priced. 5/5

This restaurant has got a pour customer service. Attention to all people if your order a well done steak they will burn it and if you complain you will find hairs on your meal!

We have been to O Saloio many times over the years and although the owners have changed over the years, the standard of the food is always good. We usually go on a Saturday or Sunday around lunch time (2pm or 3pm) and always manage to get a table although it might be best to reserve a table for the evening in advance.This is a very good Portuguese restaurant. We have tried most of the dishes on their menu including pork belly, espada (swordfish), pork chops, beef kebabs (espetada), frango piri piri (chicken with piri piri sauce), tripes, snails, fire chorizo (baked and flaming chorizo), octupus salad, prawns, lulas (squid either fried or grilled). Most of the main dishes come with chips and a salad although you can ask for a portion of rice if you want it. We have also tried some of their desserts including, creme caramel, cheesecakes, rice pudding and chocolate mousse. They have a selection of Portuguese cakes (such as pasteis de nada and pasteis de coco) in the bar.The food is always good and very tasty but be warned that the portion sizes (in particular for the main dishes) are very large! If you can't finish off your plate you can take it home in a doggy bag.They have Portuguese wine, beers and the usual soft drinks including Sumol.I would say that parking is a bit hit and miss because the road parallel to the restaurant is in a red zone with very limited parking and the parking inside the restaurant area can get quite congested.Overall, I would recommend this Portuguese restaurant for its authentic food.

We stayed at the travelogue and less than 5 mins walk we found this little gem. Doesn't look much from outside but the friendly welcome and spotless tables encouraged us to give it a try. Very helpful manager, my sons had the chorizo on fire and he advised them to share not have two which was good advice. Best startervive seen in a long time and tasted as good as the spectacle of its arrival ( accompanied by fire alarm ) . We had a pitcher of house red at £12 we didn't expect much but we're very pleasantly surprised. The lamb chops were amazing 3 huge and cooked as requested. The steak espedetas were probably the best cooked steak I have ever eaten , m/rare as we asked , flavoured beautifully and huge! I couldn't eat the dessert (too full) but my son's passion fruit mousse was delicious. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and our coffee with liqueur were changed twice as the sons had ordered incorrectly (not the staff's fault) at no extra cost. We finished with a complimentary liqueur and finally the bill of just £110 for the 4 of us and all that fab food. We will make sure we go back next time we travel from Heathrow , it was an excellent experience all round.

I have been using the Travelodge Central Heathrow for a long time for all the right reasons, cheap, central and easy to get to London and airport. I have passed the Restaurant Saloio many time never knowing what sort of restaurant it was? I have used many Indian restaurants in the area and they are good but Saloio is an amazing place, if you are using the Travelodge as a stop over for holidays or business, just come out of front door, turn left and walk for about 5 mins and you are there, great foos, great service and Mateus Rose Wine really cold, what else could you ask for??? Tell them Darren sent you! I love it and sorry I missed this place but I have told them to put a sign out saying "Better Piri Piri Chicken than Nandos" and it is!

Wow!! Came here as reviews were good - not disappointed at all! Fried octopus to start was delicious - between us we had 3 different mains. Could not fault a thing! Portion size so generous - couldn't finish the desserts. Already thinking about flying from Heathrow so I could visit again! Sergio was attentive and made good recommendations A must visit place when travelling from Heathrow

Food was fantastic. Dishes were a good size and all tasted great.Service was good even when it got busy. Will certainly visit it again. Down side was there was no child menu.

This small restaurant has the best food in Cranford. The steak is delicious. The garluc prawns are amazing. portions are generous and the deserts are to die for. The beer is good it is super bock and only £2 for a bottle good value for money.I visit here regularly and never get tired of eating here.

If you have to have a taste of Portuguese Cuisine, this is the place to go near Heathrow. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is close to public transport and the food is almost as good as you would find in Portugal. Only some minor flavor differences as the produce is not exactly the same. The wine list is short but with a couple of solid choices, mainly from the Alentejo region. When you are Portuguese, it's a good place to good when you're feeling homesick.

Ate here while staying at nearby doubletree hotel. Good number of olives with bread (including that classic portugese sardine paste) to start. Then delicious sea bass with salad and boiled potatoes for main, "small" jug of drinkable house white (about third of a bottle) all for £22. Friendly service too. Portugese tv for entertainment but not intrusive. Authentic feel. Best of the two portugese resaurants i tried in the area in my opinion.

This restaurant is full of ambience and the staff are so friendly. Always make you feel welcome and I am a loyal customer along with my best friend!

Lovely traditional Portugese food in friendly comfortable surroundings. Very friendly staff and management. Service was fast but not hurried between courses. A lovely place to visit.

O Saloio catered for an event I was organising and the food was fantastic. There was a great selection of main courses and desserts and everybody commented on how good it was, especially the custard tarts. I will definite use again. thank you

If you like portuguese dishes, this is the top place to go : quick friendly service, good portions, healthy, clean and at a the right price,,, good choice between meat & fish,,, I definitely recommend,,, was there a couple of times in the evening with friends & all were delighted : a rare diamond . 20£ for a couple of drinks an a main,, if you lik garlic :: even better

Very tasty fresh made food. Great atmosphere and fantastic service! Definitely worth a visit. Plenty of parking in surrounding area in the evening hours.

I haven't been to this restaurant yet but am planning on doing so. However we have had catering from them on 3 occasions so far. Good service, good food and large portions! We will absoloutely be using the catering services from this restaurant again.

O Saloio was recommended by a Portuguese friend and we now thank him for that!. We used to go to another Portuguese restaurant on Bath road quite frequent and now this has become my favourite. First of all, its great food, secondly very good service, thirdly very attractive and competitive pricing and fourthly parking is easy. What else would you need for a good meal? Highly recommended. Try out the tuna steak with sautéed onions! Excellent!
