Nuova Italia in South Somerset

Our first visit and for a birthday celebration lunch. So glad we went to Nuova. Beautiful food, engaging staff, great coffee. Looking forward to our next visit.

First visit today with family, with young children present. Wonderful hosts with the right amount of attention. Fabulous tasting food, festively decorated. We all loved it. Would recommend and will visit again soon.

Feel that they’ve gone downhill. I had a prawn tagliatelle, had 4 prawns but couldn’t really taste them. My wife ordered lasagne and was disappointed - didn’t come with anything and was extremely salty. Would have expected a salad at least. Unbelievably they can’t make a decaf cappuccino. Place was really chilly but they did put the heater on eventually

Truly delicious authentic Italian food served in a similarly authentic Italian setting. Our waitress Simona was outstanding; fun, knowledgeable and attentive with an infectious smile. The Barolo we drank was also exquisite. We will definitely return again.

Excellent food scallops were cooked to perfection, would recommend the Calzone, could not fault anything and the deserts well the best Lemon Posset I've ever tasted. Will definitely be back, all the staff were very attentive and smiley.

This is quite simply the best pizza outside of Italy!!! Simona and her team are warm and welcoming. The menu is extensive and the vibe is buzzing. Sicilian family run business which adds to the authenticity of this beautiful gem in Ilchester. Alfresco dining in the summer months adds to the med vibe about the restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

We went here with my parents and children (8 and 11) so we were hoping for somewhere that would keep everyone happy and we found it! Their menu had something for everyone including veggie and children's options. The service was good, attention when it was needed but not too much. The price was reasonable, especially the main meals which were so generous we had to take some away with us. Already planning to go back.

Incredible food and service. We will definitely come back! Mina and Tracy were so friendly and attentive to our table. Mina became best friends with my son who kept a saying hello; she responded every time with a big smile. I would highly recommend a visit!

Service was absolutely terrible. Said to the waitress I was ready to order, was waiting for her to bring a pen and pad but she insisted on memorising the order, after reading out the order to her (for 2 people) she then said let me get a pen and pad and never returned and was just ignoring the table. 5 minutes later had to go up and ask for the order to be taken. Felt sorry for the Blonde waitress as she was the only one who seemed switched on and was carrying the entire place. When starters arrived, had to ask for the bread we ordered twice, the balsamic vinegar twice and then had to ask for a side plate 3 times. The glass of coke was the worst glass of coke I’ve ever had. Basically a glass of ice and tasted like watered down coke (had a coupla sips and just left it). Mains were okay, but again had to ask for the side of chips which she had also forgotten. Food was very average. Extremely disappointed with the standard of this place considering all the reviews it has (which makes me question the legitimacy of them) Finally asked for the bill and she brought over the dessert menus even though I said didn’t want dessert. Terrible experience, disappointed to say the least.

Always absolutely brilliant food and excellent atmosphere! Service is fantastic and the restaurant is always full but it doesn’t affect the quality of the food which is always top!

If I could give Nuova 10 stars I would! After moving into the area over 2 years ago we have been to Nuova many times. Every time we have visitors we make an effort to introduce them to it too. I've had many dishes from their menu and never had a bad one. Simona is and absolute delight too. She is happy to give recommendations and always makes us feel like we're at home.

Amazing food and great service.

We had an amazing family lunch sat outside. The calzone, pizzas and pasta were all fantastic, as was the wine. We were particularly grateful to the chef and Simona for their attention to the allergy requirements of one of our party.

Stopped here due to its convenient location near the motorway. The setting and atmosphere is lovely and I loved the look of the outdoor area, unfortunately it was too cold for us to sit out there. The staff were attentive. The food was OK - nothing particularly wrong but not the best pizza ever. The restaurant was empty when we arrived and soon filled up, and they were busy with takeaways too. Would return if I was passing again.

Me and my boyfriend went in there for a quick bite to eat looked nice from the outside but once inside they clearly don’t take gays and felt out of place I kissed my boyfriend and they said ewww can not that in this fine establishment all in all very disappointed but atleast I get a bum from my boyfriend tonight

Outstanding authentic Italian food served quickly and to a great standard. I had the garlic pizza bread to start topped with caramelized onions which was brilliant, with a great dough consistency. Fantastic food, great outside seating area, very beautifully done with the plants and flowers, growing their own grapes. First visit to Nuova Italia last night. Warm welcome on arrival, when we were then shown to our table. Found the staff very attentive throughout our visit. Food was seved promptly and tasted very fresh indeed I had the Calzone Carne Piccante which was packed with filling and a good amount of chilli Really enjoyed the experience. Thank you.

Dined in. Reasonably priced. Fast service. We enjoyed tasty pizza and risotto under a canopy of grape vines and low level lighting. Nice atmosphere. A good experience all round.

A fantastic restaurant on the edge of Ilchester, the staff were fantastic with great explanations and advice on some great food choices. Great for groups and couples. Seating outside when the weather is suitable and has an adjoins car park. Definitely will return. A*

We were seated near a couple of tables which were celebrating and both had 6 people sat at them which made it impossible to hear as there were just two of us, if we went again we would ask to be seated in a quiet area, the food was ok but I've never had french fries in an Italian restaurant, we were hoping for a more authentic restaurant. The staff were friendly and the car park is a great help as there doesn't seem to be many areas in the town to say it was very busy.

We ordered delivery here got there first of all said we didn’t have an order they was rude when we did had give them proof good job I had it! Then got home one of the pizzas was wrong and like mush the other pizzas we had was fine! we ordered 2 portions of chips they only give us 1 £60 we spent on our order we went back to change pizza wouldn’t give us the right one they expected us to eat it and said it was one of the other pizzas that was wrong! We holidayed in Ilchester, Somerset last year and in the last week. Both times we have visited this restaurant, and both times have got the same result - for us, the food has always been good. But, the service is very hit and miss. Very keen to sit you at table and take the order for drinks, starters and mains, but after that they just leave you sitting. Just when you start to give up, one of the wait staff causally hands you a dessert menu, after that you are left waiting for another unacceptable amount of time. We were left waiting at least 30 minutes before someone took our dessert order. Would like to suggest, the staff attend a customer service course and/or go to the hotel/pub/restaurant next door, to get some really good tips on how to treat customers. The length of time you’re waiting for anything to get done is so unacceptable.

Good food but the female staff member with blonde hair (could be the manager), is very rude and patronising, never been back since. It was my birthday and this one member of staff ruined the evening and really upset my mother.

Been coming here for a good few years when stopping in the hotel next door. Not sure if it’s because we are a group of men but we have felt the service towards us specially the male waiter is very poor.The food has also gone down hill, Last night had the mushrooms to start which was forgot about (can happen) but when the main came out and told them we haven’t had the starters they still left the main in front of us and then bought the starters out to have with the main. The main course of lasagne was very very poor had better from a supermarket no taste must of been out the freezer and warmed up with some cheese scattered round the plate, few lads had Spaghetti Bolognese and that was poor with no mince in it.

We always book here when we come back down to Somerset to see my partners parents and friends. It's gorgeous. The food is always so fresh and tastes delicious and the service is always spot on. Our waitress Simona is so friendly and polite. She is always so happy and willing to help. The menu has a vast range of dishes on it to suit everyone including vegan. The restaurant is always clean and well looked after. Highly recommended a visit :)

A lovely Italian restaurant my friend took me to. The food was amazing and the service too. We had 2 dogs with us and the staff couldn't have been lovier to them. Highly recommend for quality, service and atmosphere. Dogs can only go into the garden area but it's covered so even in the winter it would be fine
