Number Four in Shropshire

A great cafe with very good service. The quality of the food produce is also very good and the menu reasonably priced. The acoustics are just a little loud. Presentation of the food could easily notch food up to a five star with a little bit of dressing/trimmings.

Spent some quality time at this venue, delightful staff, interesting decor very individual and very good food. Will definately revisit when next in Shrewsbury

lovely little spot good wholesome food with large portions, nice atmosphere, burgers very tasty, fish cakes lovely, serving is two cakes with a perfect poached egg on top - my daughter spilled something over her first burger and the staff were very understanding, couldn't have been more helpful and produced a replacement in double quick time and then refused to let us pay for the second meal when we mentioned they hadn't charged us for it - would heartily reccommend

Eight of us for lunch, a busy vibrant places, great value, lovely people, every meal was superb and its the type of place anyone would enjoy

Went here with my mum, the menu looked great outside and when we went in I was expecting a small shop but it really opened up inside and it felt so big and had so much natural light. It feel so relaxing inside! The food was absolutely amazing too, both my mother and I ate everything we could until we were stuffed. There were plenty of vegetarian options as well and they are delicious. The staff were wonderful too and I would recommend anyone to come here.

Excellent breakfast. Slight mix-up with order but was quickly remedied. Eggs Benedict was fantastic!!

We arrived on time for our booking but they hadn't cleared a table, we waited 20 minutes before anyone asked if we wanted a drink. There were others before us seated that had already waited longer. So we binned it because we would have been very lucky to eat within 45 minutes of our booking the way things were going. I don't blame the staff, there was clearly not enough of them. Went across the street for a sandwich instead which was lovely.

Can't rate the food as we walked out before ordering. Booked a table for 1pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was busy, as you would expect for a weekend. Waited 20 mins for our drink order, after 10 minutes no sign of any drinks. Staff seemed stressed and clearly the place was very short staffed. Other tables were waiting to place their order who had been in longer than us. Gave up and grabbed a sandwich from across the road which was delicious. Don't think I'll be back

I've been coming here for almost 10 years and it never fails to disappoint. The staff are lovely and attentive, and the food is always great quality. Highly recommend💜

Breakfast and service were delightful… especially the tots

Just had our works Christmas party at Number 4. There were 40 people and still the service was amazing and so efficient. Food was also lovely! I would highly recommend this place to anyone, thank you for having us.

We went on a Saturday evening and had the 3 courses. All the food was cooked exceptionally well and great portion size The service was excellent also and very reasonably priced would 100 per cent recommend and will be back to try other dishes

We now eat at Number 4 every week. Every meal is delicious and the staff friendly and efficient .

First came here 5 years ago and had a great lunch. Just come back for the first time since moving to the area and was not disappointed. Food was just as great as I have remember. Will certainly be back more often.

Our absolutely favourite place to eat in Shrewsbury. We live along way away but go whenever we are in the area. Food is sublime, the staff are cheerful and helpful and the ambiance is wonderfully happy.

A nice, trendy, relaxing place to eat and drink. Helpful staff, a varied menu, good drinks list and very reasonable prices. They could do with more toilets and the one I used wasn't very clean really. Otherwise great though.

A nice place in a quiet side street. Food freshly made. Personally found there was a bit too much salmon and hollandaise sauce on our eggs royale. The inside of the cafe was ambient and most importantly the music wasn't loud.

Lovely cafe with a lot of atmosphere! This was our first time visiting following a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed! Great options for all types of dietary needs, with loads of room. We visited for a late lunch (3:30PM) and the lady said we had just missed the rush, maybe something to consider if you’re looking to visit. Coffee tasted amazing as well! Will be returning!

Fantastic friendly staff, good value food. First choice when we are in Shrewsbury.

Not sure what happened lunch 21.03.22. 3 of us walked in for lunch at 12:55pm and sat at a table at the back. No staff to be seen. 2 more couples walked in and sat down all waiting for staff. An elderly lady went upstairs to look for staff and menu’s. We waited 10 mins and then left to go to the pub next door. We try and support local but with no welcome, no staff and no menu, makes it very difficult!

Brilliant and unique restaurant with great friendly service. Food is brilliant and tasty served so well. This is the place for a daytime eat.

Visited here for breakfast and could not fault it the staff were amazing I requested some flowers on the table and they went out of their way to respond the food was the best I have had in a long time and the atmosphere was friendly and cozy I throughly enjoyed my visit and will be back thank you guys

Even though it was busy on the lead up to Christmas we had a warm friendly welcome at No. 4. The food was as good as ever and we would definitely recommend it.

Called in at lunch time and wasn't to busy, set out on three levels which leaves plenty of space so as not to be squeezed in table to table , good lunchtime selection of meals well prepared and excellent quality coffee. Cheerful and pleasant staff giving swift service and not overpriced.

Great little breakfast spot. Popped into Shrewsbury and stumbled on this place. We had the eggs benedict and fresh tomatoes on toast. Both were good portion sizes and really fresh and tasty too. Washed down with the best smoothie I've ever had.

Such a tasty breakfast, couldn’t fault it. Dog friendly downstairs too which is a huge bonus for us. Highly recommend the granola!

An ‘A’ rated meal and service from start to finish. Prompt and efficient, top quality food and well looked after, isn’t that what everyone wants if a dining experience?My only criticism was the photocopied menu was hard to read but apart from that I highly recommend Number Four.

A spur of the moment Monday breakfast out lead us to No 4, what a treat! A gem of an establishment. The space when you walk in looks small but it goes back and up and is light, airy and quirky.A beautiful breakfast and some of the best coffee I have had in an age!Great service and will now be a regular spot which I can’t wait to take friends & family to when out.

Enjoyed a Breakfast date with a good friend. We ordered Eggs Royale and Full English. Service was fairly swift and the dining area was not overcrowded. A reasonable price and quality food.

I visited number 4 earlier this week for brunch after having missed my breakfast, it didn’t disappoint, great little deli shop off the street neither some lovely different wines for sale , restaurant upstairs in old dance studio. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the open kitchen gave some atmosphere to the lofty space. Great breakfast, with possibly the best poached eggs I’ve had, beautifully put together and fresh local ingredients. Would highly recommend

First time visiting Number Four again after what feels like forever. We were regular visitors before the pandemic and are so glad they have now reopened fully.The service from everyone was excellent and we enjoyed a tasty brunch in the restaurant.Looking forward to being back soon :)

As a treat during the current lock-down, We ordered a 2 course, 2 person meal with sides and drinks from Number Four Shrewsbury and the delivery was a safe, free and hassle-free experience to our home too. The meals were hygienically and securely packed and we just had to easily cook the meals in less than 30 minutes, with the selections being the Chicken, Sweetcorn & Tarragon Pie which was absolute top quality, the Pork Belly with mash and apple sauce was just as excellent, the sides were fresh and flavoursome, and the sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce was the finishing sweet memory and a welcome comfort reminder of an enjoyable dine out experience.We know It is so very important to use local businesses that are trying to offer an ongoing food service to their local Shrewsbury community during these unprecedented and challenging lock-down times. Number Four deserve credit for offering this service at a very challenging time for everyone. First class service and thank you to Number Four.The sign of a very good take out food service is would we return for more? Well absolutely Yes, we will in a few days time , and we have told our friends and family of this first class service from Number Four Shrewsbury.

Havent visited for what we discovered was a few years (and too long!!)The seating area has been all extended and SO glad as we visited on a busy saturday for 'brunch' and didnt think we'd get a table, but we were 'squeezed in'Service was excellent and staff couldnt be more helpful We have made a promise that we WONT wait as long next time to visit again

We came for lunch last week and it was excellent so we decided to book a meal for Valentines - we rarely bother as places are usually crowded and overpriced, but their menu looked excellent value so we went for it. The staff are young, super friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is cosy and welcoming. We had garlic and lemon prawns and falafels to start and we both had blade of beef as a main. Desserts were doughnuts with chocolate sauce and the cheese board. We had our coffees but they boxed up the truffles for us and I resisted eating them on the way home! This is a lovely place with excellent, well cooked food and well trained, friendly staff. We would love a place like this here!

Booked for lunch - haven't been for ages but enjoyed our previous visits, and folk at work always give it good reviews. Was really looking forward to it as don't often get chance to have lunch out. Not the best start : didn't seem to have any record of our telephone booking but as we were early, that wasn't a problem as still plenty of space. Ordered the burgers. Looked very nice when they arrived but mine was very rare in the middle. When the waitress came to check if everything was okay I asked for it to be cooked some more. She came back to ask if I wanted a fresh burger cooked but I was just happy to have mine cooked better. She also informed me that this is how they serve burgers. Personally I expect burgers to be fully cooked through. If this is genuinely how they serve burgers I suggest they put "served rare" on the menu as this definitely would've influenced my decision of what to eat. The waitress was very helpful and pleasant but am afraid we won't rush back.

Ate here after shopping in Shrewsbury and ordered the mushrooms and spinach which was lovely.The service I received was amazing and great coffee too. This cafe is a great addition to the town and I will definitely be back.

I have been here before and always enjoyed it so went again for lunch with my friend. When we got there the lunch the options looked really good. I had a cheese, tomato and basil ciabatta that came with a salad and slaw. The slaw was meant to be a fennel slaw so I assumed it was going to be quite light. When it arrived it had way too much mayo and tasted like coleslaw you get from the supermarket. The salad was a bit pathetic and I found a bit of rotten lettuce in it. My friend got avocado on toast with a poached egg and mushrooms. The avocado was brown and tasteless and not fresh at all. The mushrooms were slimy with no flavour whatsoever. The fries were good; the best thing about the meal. The Service was good as the waitresses were attentive and friendly. However it was way overpriced for what we were given. We were majorly disappointed and don’t think We’ll be returning anytime soon.

Food not crisp soggy chips just an off day perhaps

I haven’t been to Number 4 for several months. Since I last visited the lunch menu has changed, no Croque Monsieur or Madame, no steak baguette. These were three of my favourites, so personally I find the new menu a bit disappointing.We did however enjoy our lunch here, the service was great as usual. The food was tasty, using top quality ingredients. Still a great place for lunch.

Had a table for 7 last night and between us we had most of what was on the reassuringly small menu choice. Everyone one of us was delighted with every course and we really could not fault any of it. Service was great and best of all was the value for money. Total bill for 7 adults eating 2 or 3 courses and including drinks was less than £200. I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough.

A day out in Shrewsbury and we stumbled across this delightful restaurant. Food was of great quality and service was equally good. Was with my wife and four year old son and the hot dogs and homemade soup of the day were winners! Will definitely visit again.

Having eaten at Number Four many times before today I'm sure tonight was just a blip. The service was friendly and efficient. The food however was inconsistent. We had the two course set dinner and the main courses were as good as always. Delicious burgers all round. The desserts however were the opposite. Sticky toffee pudding was okay, meringue and winter berries underwhelming to look at but with good flavours. However the apple turnover with custard was totally inedible. Normally I'll eat almost anything to be polite and avoid any kind of fuss. However having poured the custard on the turnover and taken a first mouthful of custard I found that it was full of hard lumps. It was unappetising enough that I did not try the turnover which was now covered in it. I'm not a great cook but I would have been unwilling to serve it to anyone. When the waitress came to clear the plates I advised her politely and asked for the bill. She apologised and duly did not charge for the apple turnover. I did not ask for a discount on the rest of the meal but was a little surprised none was offered. Such a poor end to a meal is usually offset with some goodwill. I'm sure I'll be back again but next time just for the mains.

Visited Jan 2020 had three course set meal really happy with service quality of food .Great portions beer was great .Staff were freindly place was very clean .Would be certain to call again .

I love this place. Food is always A* even when very busy. My husband had the white bait for starter which he described as perfect, not overdone at all.

Had the best night at number four for my Birthday Meal. Food was delicious and Gwen the manager couldn't of done more to make it extra special for my family and I. Great Service, Highly recommend :-)

We popped in for a snack lunch abpout 3.30pm. I had a winter vegetable salad with baked goats cheese. Very nice and very seasonal, perhaps a big too much veg and salad but definately good value for money. Lovely waitress very chatty and helpful even though they were very busy she took time to talk, sorry we didnt get her name.

This was my 1st visit to number four with a big group of friends for a Christmas meal. The service was very good and staff friendly. Everyone enjoyed the starter but the mains were a disappointment. There was no veg, just one potato and a bit of kale. We asked for some carrots which we were given after a small wait. It just seems strange that so little would be offered with a Christmas meal.
