Number 7 Fish Bistro in Torbay

We had dinner following a recommendation and were not disappointed. The restaurant is located near the harbour at the lower end of shopping area of the town. For starters we had french onion soup (good but not special) and garlic mushrooms (delicious but would have liked a little more bread in the side). Mains - mini portions of main menu items. Fish and chips, grilled salmon and plaice stuffed with salmon and backed in wine and cheese sauce (excellent and would recommend). Also had special of 3 fish cooked 3 ways with 3 sauces. Tempura plaice was excellent with light batter. Monkfish with morney sauce and grilled cod steak with tartare sauce served with vegetables and backed new potatoes. Pricey but really good. Dessert- treacle tart and Christmas creme brûlée (excellent). Overall very good fish restaurant with great choices of desserts. Especially like that you can sample small portions of main menu items as an option.

Not sure if my Mrs could survive here as there was a note to keep mobile phones switched off or to silent, which we both thought was a nice touch.First class service. Not too busy as midweek. The selection of battered fish and moules mariniere were lovely. Nice atmosphere/ interior. FAB U LOUS.Fidelscastrol.

What a great little find, a very wide selection of fish dishes (as the name might imply) we had skate wing and turbot and both were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and “straight from the ocean” fresh. Staff were v friendly and helpful. Is located at the top of the town but fortunately there is a car park directly opposite. If you like fish this is an absolute must highly recommended

Super meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals here, chosen from an extensive menu and beautifully fresh.

Visited twice as a family, once for food and once for wine only!The food was amazingly fresh, we had a selection of oysters, fish and puds. Very impressed with the wine selection, every bottle was excellent especially the single bottle selection Would definitely return when we are back in Torquay.

Superb, lovely fresh fish that is crossed off the menu as they sell out, no freezer here.Interesting wine list, we had an Alsation Cremant with our meal and helpful and hard working staff.Can't recommend this place enough, if you're in Torquay and don't go here you're missing a treat.

We visited this lovely fish bistro while on holiday. I am so glad we did. What a gem. The restaurant is family run, which you can see in the commitment to excellent customer service. The food is all fresh and beautifully cooked. The menu is extensive, with a variety of dishes of all different tastes. I can honestly say that it was the best meal I have had in a long time, well worth a visit. I wish I lived closer to come again- however I will be back next time we are in Torquay. Thank you for a lovely lunch.

The whole experience was excellent. The pre arrival arrangements with Covid 19 were professional. Provided trace and track details by email, confirmed booking day before . No other restaurants we visited in Torquay came anywhere near this care. The menu was varied and covered all seafood tastes. The seafood broth starter was a meal in itself and the plaice with prawns was lovely and light and well presented. Also good wine selection. Not the cheapest but by far the best. Would recommend .

Lovely place to eat felt very European. Nice area for a drink before the meal. Very knowledgable staff , excellent menu and wine choice. Lovely atmosphere.

No7 was highly recommended and we were not disappointed. Beautifully prepared meal that was served by a caring and Covid safe staff. There was a large range of fish and seafood on the menu and it was difficult to choose. The owner, sensing my indecision made some suggestions that were spot on. Lovely restaurant.

My husband and I ate there in the only time slot offered to us (6-8PM) about a month before our trip to Torquay. We arrived a little early and were shown to the winebar upstairs which was pleasant enough but not full although we had been led to believe that it would be necessary to book a table in the bar if we wanted pre-dinner drinks (we hadn't done so). We both had fish tempura - my husband as a starter and I had it as a main. The batter was perfectly light and delicious. My main included a spring onion in tempura batter - not something I would recommend. Hard to cut a spring onion with a fishknife and I gave up. My main was also served with some odd vegetables, or perhaps I'm not worldly enough to appreciate them. I did recognise the corn although I didn't enjoy it, there were some purple squares - I can only think it was red cabbage, and then there were some thin orange circles - swede perhaps? I should have asked but perhaps I should have been tutored at the time I was told about the various dips for the fish. Even with all my moans my main was very good and my soup starter was excellent. My husband enjoyed his tempura starter (it didn't come with any of my strange accompaniments) and he absolutely loved his fish and chips, declaring it the best he had eaten in a very long time. Our only real complaint about the restaurant was the almost manic behaviour of the maitre d/owner. He did everything in such a hurried way that it was difficult to feel relaxed. His voice was also very loud - maybe in the days before covid when there were more diners the restaurant was very noisy so he was used to speaking so that he could be heard. He was also bizarrely dressed in shorts with a formal shirt and tie, whilst the servers wore a 'uniform'. Maybe I shouldn't be so critical of a little eccentricity. We checked in using the NHS app but weren't asked whether we had done this, nor was our temperature taken.Overall, however, I would definitely recommend this restaurant as they do know how to cook fish.

A must for fish lovers. There is a full array of freshly caught fish with lots of ways of enjoying it being cooked. The produce is fresh and succulent - the mussels, prawns, scallops, turbet, cod, plaice all very tasty. We were served by a very helpful and lovely waitress called Mica.If you can, book into the wine bar section first, before your meal. There you can sample from a long list of wines, champagnes to decide what you like. I tried the 3 wine flight -chose any 3 wines that you may not necessarily know about to help you decide if you like them. The guy behind the bar - a Robin - knows his stuff and is more than happy to help you with your choicesOverall a very lovely evening out

No7 was recommended and I’m glad it was. The food was superb. The staff were attentive and professional and very knowledgeable. Good size portions too. Covid secure.

Pre-booked at short notice and they fitted us in with their normal enthusiasm. Really good choice of fish dishes - spoilt for choice. glad we got back here. Pleased to see them so busy on a Thursday lunchtime. Safe and secure from a COVID perspective and never felt compromised on social distancing. Well done. lovely food and good service.

Seafood was outstanding not a single dissenting voice in our party of 4. No7 is a must visit restaurant if you are visiting Torquay, you won’t be disappointed. Friendly, efficient service and extremely polite without being over the top. We will be back.

We visited last night for the first time since COVID. Well done the service, attention to detail and feeling of safety was fantastic. Our food was piping hot and delicious. Four different mains and all great. My simple grilled dover sole was perfect. Other family choices were turbot with two different sauces and the trio of fish. The delicate flavours of the fish were not overtaken by the veg or sauces. We will be back again soon.

I was really looking forward to this, lunch at the best fish restaurant in Torquay. I was not disappointed, my turbot could not have been any fresher, and nicely cooked, and the rock oysters from Rock, oh yes! Oh, my wife and friend both really enjoyed theirs! Oh(again) should not forget the wine, good selection and well sourced, all in all, a great lunch in convivial surroundings.Well done all.

An absolute favourite and Torquay's best fish restaurant. Love every visit. Had starter with scallop, mussels and king prawns in garlic amd lemon butter, my favourite. Main of the trio of fish this time and it was great. Thanks Paul and the team.

Excellent choice of food and wine. Really enjoyed the setting and service. There was some very expensive wine available but also a range of more reasonably priced wines and some advice available on wine choice when requested.

We were staying in Torquay and ate here on four nights. We booked before we came. The food, service and strict Covid measures were excellent. The staff used hand gel ever time they passed the bottles. We have been before and will return.

If you like fish this is the place to eat. The fish is so fresh well presented and tastes amazing. The staff were very attentive , friendly and explained all the dishes with great knowledge. There is the added bonus of a wine bar upstairs with great views.

Friday evening at number 7, staff and food wonderful. Flight of wine, 3 small glasses of wine, picked in conjunction with the most knowledgeable and encouraging barman ever, result was enjoyed al 3! And knew we were Off to a good start. Restaurant staff friendly and confident to recommend, listen and encourage a decision. Best fish restaurant ever

British fresh fish, cooked well and served with a local beer. What more, other than another visit can you ask for?

Table for six booked weeks ahead ,very professional by text on the day reminder and confirmation. Went down hill on arrival. Waitress rather forward and obnoxious . Food average service average and one of the table asked a couple of questions to be met with aragant chip on the shoulder responses.Manager did apologise on behalf of the waitress however unfortunatley made things worse as the waitress became intimidating . Keep away and go to either......... On The Rocks.or TJs Restaurante ...Both are way ahead and leave this place standing.At nearly £80.00 per head we would have expected a better customer experience ....very disappointed .

My friend and I arrived late without a reservation and they were so accommodating in the bar. We ordered the shrimp and cocktails which were delicious and even had a table with a view of the sea. Also the price was extremely palatable too! Would love to go back and dine downstairs in the restaurant.

During our stay in Torquay last week we took the opportunity to visit fish restaurant No 7 located on Beacon Hill. Have to say that after reading the majority of the reviews we would have to agree it was well worth the visit. The food/service was excellent with social distancing measures in place. There is a large choice of fish dishes to choose from (too much for only one visit!) which were reasonably priced given the quality of the food. Please note I would recommend that you book in advance to secure your table as it is very popular. Would definitely visit again if we were back in the area. Have to say Paul was very helpful with my online/telephone booking.

Starters king prawns in a garlic and butter sauce and King prawn, king scallop and mussels in a garlic and lemon butter. Mains fillet of cod with scallops and prawns in tempura batter and fillet of cod with prawns mornay. Extensive wine list to suit all pallets. To die for dessert list, sticky toffee pudding/ treacle tart with hot custard ice cream or clotted cream. Brandy snap basket filled with amaretto ice cream. I could go on, but you need to see the menu. Not will I be back, but when.............

When a restaurant chooses to concentrate on one type of food they had better do it well, and at bistro number 7 they do fish brilliantly. We have been lucky enough to eat at two of Rick Stien's restaurants and, in our opinion, this was better.The mussels,scallop and King prawn dish and the squid in garlic starter were both delicious, each served with a weighty piece of garlic bread. For main course I had the pan fried cod with prawn and scallop tempura, the milky white cod was perfectly cooked and contrasted well with the crisp tempura batter on the shellfish. That was accompanied by a selection of vegetables, which included golden beetroot, brave and delicious, and baked new potatoes in garlic and herbs, making a very substantial amount, but we managed to polish it off and then dive into a hot apple crumble with 'lashings' of custard. Confident and professional service added up to a truly memorable evening.

This was our first visit to the Number 7 and hopefully not our last! My wife had the broth to start and I had muscles, prawn and scallop in garlic and they were both brilliant with generous portions. We both had fish in tempura as a main and the fish was brilliantly cooked with very well made tempura batter which melted in the mouth. To finish I had a Sundae and my wife had apple crumble and custard and neither of us can fault any of it. A must try for any fish lovers and very reasonably priced! Staff were brilliant as well!

If you only go to one restaurant in Torquay make sure it’s number 7. The food was fantastic, we had the king prawn scallops and mussels in garlic to start. Followed by the 3 fish dish , service was excellent , staff friendly .Would highly recommend

Any of our guests always ask to come back. As ever, excellent fish dishes cooked to perfection. Pure porn food. Despite the current covid19 palaver this restaurant has not lost its ambience. Great team headed up by Paul with his no nonsense approach. Extensive wine selection to suit all pockets. Curiously only one from the wide selection from Aotearoa.

Just a note to say well done to Paul and his team at No 7's i have visited three times in the last month one with the family,one with friends and once on business.On every occasion we manged to get a table in the wine bar and take in the wonderful views followed by great food and service.Monkfish tail has to be my favourite! Some of our guests have already returned as they enjoyed it so much.RegardsDarren

Great squid starters, superb mains and a good desert. I have been visiting this restaurant for many years and both food and service have always been faultless. It is definitely one of Torbays top restaurants.....consistently excellent.

We were recommended to this restaurant by the host at our accommodation and it didn’t disappoint. They only had one available table during our 10 night stay so advance booking is definitely needed. We had the pan fried calamari, scallops, prawn tempura, fillet of cod & turbot accompanied by new potatoes & seasonal vegetables. The fish was superb, perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning. They have a very extensive wine list with some very expensive bottles available by the glass.

The location is perfect. The atmosphere is great. The service by Paul was very attentive and the food is AMAZING! A must do whilst in Torquay.

Fabulous fish restaurant. Had pre dinner drinks in wine bar then we were taken down to restaurant when our table was ready. Our table of 4 all had the king prawn scallop and mussel cooked in garlic for starter. We all agreed that it was one of the best fish dishes we have had. Out of this world. The rest of the food and wine was also delicious. We had a lovely evening and would highly recommend .

Great fish, great atmosphere.Stopped by for an early dinner. The waiting staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the food was delicious - mussels were fresh and tasty and turbot special was really yummy. Grilled lemon sole looked yummy. Excellent wine list. Handy location near the sea front.

Overall, we had an enjoyable meal, particularly our main courses. I was disappointed with the curried prawns starter, which contained very tiny prawns in an extremely bland sauce. Poor value, and not exactly what I expected. That said, we enjoyed the evening. Service was excellent.

What a fantastic experience. Booked into the wine bar for pre dinner drinks, looking over the harbour. Attentive, knowledgeable service. Collected when out table was ready in the bistro.Lots of specials and staff to help make an informed choice. Good quality, reasonably priced and all big portion sizes.Highly recommended.

This is probably one of the best places to eat fish in the UK. locally caught and fresh, the extensive fish menu has something for everyone, all lovingly presented. Absolute tops. The passion for the food shines through. Highly recommend you try this place.

Thank again Tripadvisor, when in a new town we often use TA to seek out somewhere nice to eat and boy did we hit it lucky with the Number 7!From the initial call to book we found this place welcoming and accomodating, we could only get a table at 8.30 but were offered a place in the wine bar above from 7.30 for pre-dinner drinks.From there we got to gaze out over Torbay and watch an amazing sunset whilst enjoying possibly one of the best wine lists and gin selections that South Devon has to offer.Our table was ready spot in time and then we were taken to the Bistro downstairs that had the wonderful decor you'd expect of a fish bistro.As a seafood lover I was in my element and after some of the best oysters I have ever tasted I then moved on to an amazing seafood platter with Brixham crab that was just delicioulsy fresh it simply was the best crab I have ever eaten.Creme Brulee for dessert wsa pretty good too!There was a bit of food envy though with one of our friends having opted for the trio of fish - when we go again my wife and I are having that!Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff here and it was great to see a lot of the wide range of wines being available by the glass too for that last taste without wanting a whole bottle.Would definitely return - great job!

Had a window able in the wine bar, lovely view, tables semsibly placed and staff masked. We had crab salad and a fish selection to start- great presentation. Mains of scallops in vermouth and a trio of fish, with a nice Sauvignon blanc. Service was pleasant and unobtrusive. Excellent seafood a very enjoyable meal.

We went at lunchtime as the evenings were booked up so best to make a reservation in advance. We had a drink in the wine bar upstairs then we were shown to our table downstairs. There was a lot of choice and the host was really informative. My husband had the 3 fish plates which is a great idea as it is 3 taster portions of 3 of the main courses - great if you can't make your mind up - and they were 3 decent sized plates. I had cod with tempura prawns. Great wine list too

Great service from start to finish. Wine bar upstairs comfortable with an amazing wine list. House champagne was a great start to the evening!The bistro downstairs has a great vibe and a massive array of special boards. Food was top notch and service was friendly and efficient.Highly recommended for any fish lover in the area.

We enjoyed a lovely evening with friends at Number 7 on Monday. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the bar and enjoyed the glorious sunset from the first floor full height windows overlooking the bay The wine list is extensive and the bar manager was friendly, attentive and extremely knowledgeable. Food was very good. I had the 3 fish plate which is a good idea because you get to try “mini” portions of 3 different dishes. I enjoyed it very much and my partner and our friends all enjoyed their meals. Number 7 is definitely a go to for a special occasion and especially if you enjoy sea food. This restaurant has every base covered I should think

Excellent, I have been visiting Torquay for many years but always seemed to miss out on No 7. The food and service were excellent! Try the tempura fish with three dips; it melts in your mouth. The staff have a lot to cope with at the moment with the Covid restrictions, but did not let this spoil our meal.See you in 2121.

I did ask to change tables immediately we entered as we were seated by the door. I had my 80 year old husband with me and we have been shielding him for many months. We were told that this wasn't possible, stating that once another table was seated, the door immediately behind us wouldn't be opened again. This was quite ridiculous, as guests have to exit by this main door to use the rest rooms. Throughout the nigh, walk ins continued behind us, as we were trying to eat our meal. There was no thought of protection for us from Covid-19.No 7 is terribly pretentious and money quite obviously changes hands to book the best tables, so the website stating 'first come first served' is a nonsense. If you do book, take a copy of your email.I did contact the restaurant a couple of hours after we left to voice my view. I have not yet had the courtesy of a response, six days later.There are other much better places to eat in Torquay, for fish, with much better service.Apparently there is a wine bar upstairs.

We visited this place for dinner on a Tuesday, despite being a weekday it was essential to book as the restaurant was full. We started off the evening in the wine bar upstairs which has beautiful views and an extensive wine list (as well as other drinks!) after a little bit we were then moved to our table downstairs for dinner . We didn't finish our bottle of wine in the time of our dinner table slot so we actually ended going back upstairs to the wine bar to end the evening, which was nice. I can't stress enough how good the service was, in the wine bar and in the restaurant. It was absolutely impeccable whilst still maintaining a comfortable and not 'stuffy' atmosphere. The food was so fresh and delicious and actually not badly priced considering the quality of the food and the service. I would 100% recommend this place and gladly return.

Very good and very lucky to get a table. Even with a limited menu the options for the day and specials made choosing difficult! Tried hard not to get food envy! Beautifully cooked cod, muscles, scallops, prawns etc. Great service really nice staff overall good food good service definitely one for your list!

This is by far the best seafood restaurant we've ever been too. The staff are so friendly, sauces are divine and really well portioned. There's such a variety of food choices. Its a must visit for all seafood lovers!

We went to No 7 on Tuesday 25th August, been visiting this restaurant for several years now. We booked the wine bar upstairs for a pre meal drink and also booked our table in the restaurant , in my experience booking is essential as very popular. All went very smoothly as expected. The guy upstairs was as ever very welcoming and professional. No real waiting for drinks and place was very busy. Meal as ever was excellent. I had cod with prawns and scallops for mains and curried prawns to start. Both really good. Some interesting dishes to choose from and well used by locals as well as tourists. I would say the resounding positive reviews of this place reflect reality as a restaurant. That many people can’t all be wrong !!

Got an email, to say that they could fit four of us in on Saturday night. Really glad we got a chance to eat here. Very good and Food and service. Good value for money too.

Very luckily last night we managed to get a last minute table at this quaint fish bistro. From the moment we walked in we were not disappointed. The bistro was small but not overcrowded and it was very atmospheric with character. Our charming waiters were very polite and attentive from the momewe took our seats. We all chose different dishes for starters & mains from the daily specials board. I had mussells, scallops & prawns in a buttery lemon & garlic sauce for starters followed by monkfish tail for my main. WOW, the flavour of each dish was sensational, the chef here has created a perfect harmony of marrying flavours. Each dish was cooked to perfection, the sauces were subtle but full of taste and they did not overpower the champion ingredient , the fish. Every dish was beautifully presented and all the food came out steaming hot. Even though we were all full we still could not resist dessert, we ordered a trio which were just the icing on the cake ending for our delicious and perfect meal. My family and i thoroughly enjoyed this special dinner and we cannot wait to come back& visit again ( i will definitely be pre-booking next time) and i look forward to eating my way through the menu. Thank you for making this such a memorable dinner.

If you love eating fish like I do you will love this restaurant. It isn't cheap but worth every penny. You must book in advance, they have a wine bar upstairs if you want a pre dinner drink, but you must also book a table in wine bar. Restaurant felt very safe.

Me and my husband booked a table for just the two of us to celebrate our Pearl Wedding anniversary. We have visited this restaurant before and have always found Paul and his staff helpful and very friendly. As usual the food didn't disappoint. The fish was fresh and delicious, we will certainly be going back. This place has now become our favourite restaurant.

We would recommend booking at this busy and popular restaurant. We did and we’re glad we did as it was very busy on a recent Thursday night.It’s a fish lovers paradise. It’s also a garlic lovers paradise and we enjoyed fabulous starters of prawns and fish soup, and mains of sole and plaice. Yum yum.The staff are young and maybe a little inexperienced, but the maitre d is all over everything which makes for fast and efficient service.We were very impressed, it was one of our favourite meals of our 10 night staycation, and we would definitely recommend and return one day.

Ok it was a Rishi night so busy in a town that has people staying who ordinarily go overseas but this place is on the doorstep of Brixham and yet they make what should be quality fish taste dull and the vegetables so undercooked as to make the whole experience even worse. Combine that with very slow service ,45 mins for micro scallops first course to arrive, and manager who seemed so full of himself that he was fit to burst ( whilst ignoring social distancing) and you have an indifferent meal out in Torquay....fortunately there are better in Torquay .

Great food lovely choice of fish and also steak dishes. Service was a bit frantic, one of our main courses wasn’t brought out and the manager was furious. Very clean and well spaced out.

Went here for a celebratory lunch with my partner and we were, surprisingly, quite disappointed... We both heard such amazing reviews of this place and decided to treat ourselves and celebrate a special occasion. We arrived and were greeted beautifully and guided towards the wine bar which was also lovely. The waiter was very informative about the wine menu and we ended up choosing a great white wine to go with our lunch.For starters, I had the squid and my partner had the cold platter, we both enjoyed our starters, this great start set our expectations quite high, however, once the mains came, it all started to go a little downhill. We both ordered the cod steak with tempura-battered scallops and prawns, my partner with new potatoes and veg, and myself with salad and chips. The cod in itself was lovely, however, the tempura-battered scallops and prawns felt very heavy, I couldn't finish them. My partners symbolic veg portion lacked flavour, and personally I would have thought that fries would have paired better with a fillet of cod than thick-cut chips but perhaps that is a personal preference. In the middle of our plate, there was a little plate with a lemon, tartare sauce and teriyaki sauce. The teriyaki sauce was almost random? I can only think it was supposed to go with the tempura-battered scallops and prawns but even then I didn't think it paired well, especially not amongst all the other things on my plate such as salad/veg, the fillet of cod and my thick-cut chips/potatoes. The presentation of this dish also did not impress me. We skipped dessert. I should note that the service remained great throughout.Unfortunately, due to our disappointing mains, we will not return again which is a shame as everyone seems to love this place. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

This restaurant never fails to delight with their food and service. We felt very safe to eat herein these current times. . Paul and his family run one of the best restaurants in Torbay and the quality of both food and service never let you down. If you love fish you will love No7 !

Popular quality seafood restaurant, with rustic decor, close to the harbour. Extensive fresh seafood menu and several specials boards too! Main fish courses with vegetables c. £18 on average. My grilled whole plaice was particularly excellent and beautifully cooked as was my partner's king prawn starter. Unfortunately we were overcharged for our dessert and a drink we never had, but this was immediately rectified when pointed out. This was the second consecutive day this had happened to us at different quality restaurants in Torquay which was disappointing . . . always check your bill! That issue excepted, the restaurant is very good and worth visiting but you do need to book well in advance given its popularity. Recommended.

I visited this restaurant whilst in Torquay with the family. The staff were welcoming and the atmosphere was really great.In terms of food, me and my family ordered the trio, which included 3 smaller versions of the best dishes from the menu. This is such a brilliant idea and allowed us to try 3 different fish dishes.The fish itself is caught that day, so incredibly fresh and flavorful. It's treated respectfully and not overclouded with flavors that overpower. Absolutely superb food, some of the best fish I've ever had.We ate here during the 50% off offer so the price was of course brilliant.

What an amazing dinner enjoyed last week at No7. First off it’s worth mentioning that you book in advance, this place gets very busy. We arrived early and had drinks upstairs in the wine bar that overlooks the harbour. (If you enjoy your wine, Robin is the man to ask for any recommendations to suit your tastes!)We then went to our table in the busy restaurant (always a good sign on a weeknight). I had the Hake special in lemon and garlic butter and it was divine. My partner had a different special of which you can pick 3 dishes and have smaller portions, this included salmon, mini fish and chips and another baked cheese dish with prawns. A brilliant idea for those stuck between choices. We went for dessert over starter, and those too were great. I’d highly recommend the Chocolate Moussecake. This place has a sterling reputation and you can see why. Thanks to Paul, Robin and the team, we can’t wait to visit again!

Some really nice seafood and some great choices. Kids and the wife enjoyed the choices. Well worth another visit.

Some of the freshest fish I've had with a good chef who knows how to cook it. Reasonably priced and very, very good staff.

Lunch visit. Wonderfully friendly hosts very knowledgeable. Had Seafood Broth which was absoloutly jam packed with a myriad of fish All of which was cooked to perfection. The broth hit each tastebud and was freshly cooked to order. Lovely ambiance. Also, had the Prawn Scallop Mussel in Lemon & Garlic which was just as tasty as depicted. I could not recommended enough. An absolute find if you are looking for quality freshness and great service. Advice-Book early as the whole of August evening was booked.

Recommended by Pete at The Somerville where we were staying and it certainly didn’t disappoint! As a seafood lover this was my perfect restaurant, the scallop starter was wonderful, followed by the crab and shellfish platter. Absolute heaven! The cheeseboard, featuring locally sourced cheeses, was also very good with a lovely glass of port. The upstairs wine bar for pre dinner drinks is a must, but you must book in these COVID times. Quality food in a top restaurant with excellent service.

We were only in Torquay for a few days and this restaurant was so good we booked twice. The fresh fish directly from the fish market cooked simply but well was the highlight. Lovely staff and covid safe

As you can tell from the title and the name, fish is the speciality and all the wallboards have the many ways and names of fish and ways they are cooked and the excellent presentation of the dishes

We really enjoyed our meal despite the COVID-19 restrictions. The fish was very fresh and very tasty. You do pay a premium for the food though I think it is worth it.

Visited No.7 on a Monday evening during our stay in Torquay. We booked a few weeks out and glad we did as this restaurant and wine bar was exceptional.We were given a menu at the table along with multiple specials boards around the room for starters and main courses. Plus a recommend wine board!All of the food we had was perfectly cooked. The fish was really fresh and delicious. Pudding was incredible! The service was 100%, could not fault anything at all.Afterwards we had a table booked in the wine bar upstairs. With so many wines to choose from we asked for advice based on the sort of wines we liked. The recommendations were perfect, we are now White Grillo drinkers. The view was also beautiful across the harbour. Would definitely visit again.

Very friendly service and good food. The view of the harbour from our table was lovely and it's a very good place for fish lovers. Having a choice of how to pay was very welcome as I'm fed up with being told that I can only pay for food by downloading a dodgy app on my phone.

Wonderful food that was deliciously cooked, fresh and tasty with a great welcome from the team. First restaurant visit since lockdown however our safety wasn’t comprised. Great to be back eating out and definitely not disappointed

Wonderful meal and fabulous atmosphere. We haven't been to Torquay for some years and it was our first post lockdown break but this restaurant alone warrants a return visit. Although very busy we received excellent, friendly and professional service. Our meal we felt was excellent value and every mouthful delicious. We very much look forward to a return visit.

So happy I managed to get a table and extend my stay in Devon! The seafood was delicious and so fresh! I had a couple of oysters which we’re gorgeous and so creamy from rock in Cornwall then scallop, prawn and mussels to start in lemon butter garlic! Followed by Brixham lemon sole! So beautiful; delicate and fresh! Lovely staff wonderful meal

We ate at number seven last night and had a wonderful evening. Drinks in the bar upstairs first, followed by an amazing meal in the restaurant downstairs. Sea food sharing platter was out of this world! Service was great, waiting staff were brilliant. If we come to Torquay again we will definitely be booking a meal here again. Really can not recommend it enough. I just hope Paul was able to find the real ‘Alex and Andy’ ha ha ha

You're back, we're back following this lockdown nonsense. With visiting friends from beyond the frontier of glorious Devon, at their request and loving this number 1 fish restaurant in Torquay. As the name implies no pandering to vegetarians, vegans and the entitled. Wonderful fish dishes perfectly cooked as are the delightful team unhindered by silly masks and shields dictated by those on high who know better. Possibly. Despite this dictum the team have managed to maintain the buzz and ambiance we have always enjoyed. Thankyou guys. Enjoy a glass in the in the wine bar above before being gathered up and introduced to your table.

I had the 3 mini fish dishes and my husband had Cod. Everything was beautifully cooked. Service and Covid 19 precautions were excellent. Highly recommended. Booking advised.

No7 was recommend to us by the owner of the b&b we were staying in, and I have to say it did not disappoint!! We were asked at the time of booking if we wanted pre drinks in the wine bar up stairs before dining. The gentleman working on the bar, Robin, had such an extensive knowledge of wines, and which to pair with what meal!! He was super friendly and very professional. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming and The food was delicious!! Would highly recommend!!!

Delicious fresh fish with an extensive and mouth watering menu leaving you spoilt for choice. Fortunately, the staff are extremely knowledgeable and attentive and are always there to steer you in the right direction. Wines are on point also! Well worth a visit and we will certainly be returning.

What a wonderful evening at Number 7, my first at this fantastic fish restaurant and won’t be my last. The knowledgeable and courteous serving staff complimented the most delicious food. Every course surpassed our expectations and the heavenly local wine only added to the experience. Can’t wait to come again!

If you are looking for a fine wine pairing with excellent fish dishes, you won't go wrong here, but reservations required.This was our first meal post lockdown and we were a little worried. No problem, all seemed nicely distanced and staff were covid alert.The main point was the wine list and wine bar manager were excellent, the food in the restaurant downstairs was divine.A brilliant evening where everything and everyone worked in harmony to make dining out such a gorgeous experience.We don't need to eat for 2 days!

We know this restaurant very well, especially for its great well cooked very fresh fish and excellent service. So, it was no surprise to recice a couple of beautiful fresh turbot fillets, from Paul himself. It's a great way to get access to fresh fish from our fabulous"seafood coast" in these very difficult times. Well done and thanks guys!
