6 of us dropped in for a drink after the cinema at 22.05 today . Totally deserted except for one customer at the bar. Waited over 5 minutes before the customer offered to find the bar staff. Empty glasses on bar and tables so obviously work to do but no staff. Young lady eventually appeared and promptly said we've finished serving. No apology. I am amazed bars can afford to turn away 6 customers let alone without an apology. Also strange on 2nd July to read Christmas menus displayed around the walls. No idea if these are very early for this year or left up from last year? I've worked in hospitality much of my life and the golden rule is 'never turn away a paying customer' Unfortunately a no stars review wasn't an option. Very disappointing.

Was good in there this year for the World Cup cheap drink deals atmosphere was good shame the DJ had to drain the atmosphere with the speakers far to load did ask him to turn it down just a little. It killed the fans from one side of the pub to the other as both sides singing different songs the boss and DJ couldn't understand my point when speaking to them.. the drink offers did not stay the Same threw the hole tournament but was still good price . Hayley the bar maid was brilliant .

Went for some food on a Sunday evening, was only 1 person in there drinking. Ordered a butterfly chicken burger and the meat was lovely as was the bun but could of done with alot more bbq sauce and cheese. The jacket potato was AWFUL microwaved crap and the seasoned veg had been microwaved for so long the carrots were cracked and dry and the broccoli tasteless. Onion rings were OK. Wouldn't eat here again.

Went to this bar today as near to a restaurant we had booked. Couldn't get the girl behind the bar to acknowledge us as she was texting. Left after two minutes went next door where we were greeted pleasantly and served immediately. This business lost a party of 10 having 2 drinks each as they wouldn't serve the first 3 of us.

nice friendly pub. Plenty of seating inside, some outside (we went when it was a bit chilly so not so many tables out maybe)

Visited this place in order to watch Football on a Saturday lunch time. Asked the bar maid if they were going to show Sky Sports and I was told: “Could do” but did nothing to make this happen. I then asked for two pints of Southwold Bitter. Three quarters through pulling the first pint it was clear that it was the end of barrel but the same barmaid continued to try to get the dregs of the barrel into the glass. I requested that we have a different type of bitter (Broadside) and was told that the first ¾ quarter pint was fine. It was clearly cloudy so I said I wanted two new (and different) pints. The bar maid reluctantly pulled two new pints but was still grumbling that the original beer was okay when she took my money. My companion then asked another member of staff when the TV would be tuned to Sky Sports and was told “when we get time”. I should point out that there were a few punters but the bar was not busy at all and some staff were hanging around the bar, on the customer side, and chatting to their pals but not making any attempt to serve customers. Finally, at the third time of asking the TV was tuned into Sky Sports, just after the kickoff. Overall really inadequate customer service, and only redeemed by the Broadside bitter.

We popped in for a quick drink & meal, we ended up staying all night! The bar staff were friendly, telling us about local history when we asked & we loved the old photos of Lowestoft on the walls. Football was on the tv but not loud, so you could still sit & enjoy things. Drinks are very reasonably priced, food wise it was delicious! We had the curry & chilli which was so tasty & wonderfully presented. The chef brought our meals out & was lovely & chatty. The bread & butter homemade pudding is delicious, give it a try!

We were in the area for a short break looking for a meal on a Wednesday night. In the centre of the town is a really modern place called Iconic, all glass, lights, chrome and white seats. We did try to get in there but the waitress said they were fully booked, not sure if she didn't like our jeans/t shirt but it was only 6 o'clock!. Next door is a lovely old pub called Notleys. the barmaid was very bubbly and friendly - asked if we would like to eat in there or in Iconic as the food comes from the same kitchen. We explained the issue and she was excellent, chatty but not intrusive . We had a table by the window overlooking the square with its dancing fountains and our food order was delivered very quickly. The portions were very good, we had Lamb Shank Shepherds pie and a Prawn & Crayfish salad - both delicious. we would definitely go to Notleys again, quiet & friendly, but will not be trying Iconic

Good food, good service and a great view of the fountain area. It is a great place for a nice drink or a lovely reasonably priced meal. Would definitely recommend.

Myself and six friends had booked a table in iconic for 6.30 with is part or Notleys. We decided to have a drink in Notleys. at first the welcome was luke warm, but after trying to order a second round the little blonde girl was very rude which was uncalled for. Then a 'lady' from iconic came through from iconic 'Barking' that our table was booked for 6.15 in a very rude and aggressive Manor. I then pointed out our table was for 6.30 but still the aggressive nature continued, she then headed back to iconic. We then asked if the pool table was available which was received with a short and abrupt answer.. We then decided to cancel our table due the rude and aggressive nature of both Notleys and iconic staff. I would never go there again they were asboultly disgusting in there behaviour, my advice is DO NOT go either place. Try the harbour next door the customer service was excellent and the food was excellent. If I could give no stars I would.. Notleys/iconic TERRIBLE service...

tea? It's a pub. Popular but noisy and more a party pub. Great if you want to do the weekend 'on the pull' out for the night getting hammered type of thing, if you want to chat go elsewhere.

We were directed to Notleys as a traditional family pub however we walked into what can be best described as a nightclub disguised as a pub. The initial bar service seemed okay but was very unhelpful when asked where we could sit. The establishment appeared to be relatively clean throughout. The starters were served by relatively polite and helpful staff who appeared from nowhere and quickly disappeared again. These empty plates were not cleared for a while but this was accepted as there now only appeared to be one member of staff working (although it wasn't busy). We then proceeded to wait 25 mins for our mains (of which we eventually had to get up and ask at the bar where they were) before being told the kitchen was very busy (we were the only visible table eating). The waitress then seemed more than happy to tell us about the nightclub facilities on a Friday and Saturday - just the information we wanted to be told as a family after waiting 25mins for food (I don't think). When the mains were eventually served the salad nearly landed in my lap along with the cutlery as the waitress rushed to put everything down with no sort of apology. The 'medium' steak resembled charcoal however the rest of the food was okay. The waitress did seem able to leave the bar (and her phone) to check on us, but barely gave opportunity for a response. When we went to pay the bill it appeared that we were charged for our 'free drinks with every steak' as this offer was not running on the day visited - quite the contrary to what we had been told when ordering. On the plus side the bill was realatively low - perhaps a price to pay for very poor service and average food. Definitely won't be rushing back or recommending to anyone (unless they ask where to avoid).

Notleys offers a good varied menu at reasonable prices. The meals our party had were of a high standard, and with a steak meal plus free drink (mine a pint of Adnams) at less than £10 you would need to go a fair way to beat its value. The premises are modern and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and efficient. If you are in Lowestoft it is well worth a visit.

Had to wait 3/4 of hour for a breakfast. No mugs available. Staff clearing trays away handing dirty crockery and table numbers then going to food counter to touch people's plates without cleaning hands first.food left on serving counter for ages before being brought out, people then sending it back because it was then cold as ours was,not as good as it used to be

Had a roast beef dinner delivered to home yesterday. Was absolutely delicious, great size portion, lots of lovely veg too. Although it came from the other side of town, it arrived nice and hot. We have previously had food delivery from places closer to home that arrived Luke warm. We will certainly order again in the future.

We visited The Crown for a midweek lunch. We had our dog with us so didn’t want the formal dining room. The tables at the front were busy so we found a cosy snug at the back which was almost empty. We had a catch of the day fish and chips, complete with excellent crunchy chips and a smoked fish platter, also very nice. As expected, the full range of Adnams beers were available and in excellent condition. However, what we must really commend The Crown on was the attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. For example, I asked the barman if there was any water bowls for dogs outside? No need to go outside he replied and dropped what he was doing and brought one to our table. We will definitely return when we ext visit Southwold.
