Northcote Restaurant in Ribble Valley

My husband brought me here for my birthday lunch, food was very lovely served by fantastic staff who where very knowledgeable and very friendly and made my day extra special. Restaurant is in a lovely setting with fantastic views over Pendle hill. Will definitely be back

The food was excellent! However, the service was below the standard expected of a 1 Michelin Starred restaurant. In particular, I had to personally ensure my wife's glass was filled during the meal service which I thought was inattentive from the front of house staff. After the meal was complete, I felt we were then effectively disregarded, taking a further 25 minutes to settle my bill. Overall, I felt the restaurant was very good with fantastic food but there was a considerable mismatch between experienced career staff and temporary staff which let down the standard expected.

We recently had a one night stay at Northcote having booked for the 5 course Gourmet dinner. What a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food delicious. Our room was spacious and cozy. Definitely worth a visit especially for a special occasion.

Excellent visit again… everyone is welcoming and friendly and super attentive to whatever you want. The food was excellent, particularly the Orkney scallop starter and the veal sweetbread. The homemade bread is so yummy… we had to ask for it to be removed after one piece as we could have eaten it all up and not enjoyed our main course of beef fillet… you will feel super special and well and truly treated

I always look forward to a trip to Northcote, and it did not disappoint on this occasion. The outdoor lift worked perfectly, the service was attentive and the food was divine. Each dish, visually, was like a little portrait on the plate. I had the seasonal menu, with the beetroot starter. Who knew you could wring so much flavour out of the humble beetroot?! The main course choice was the hash brown with a tiny quail's egg and an exquisite assortment of mushrooms and mushroom sauce. Finally, in came my vanilla panna cotta, a poem in cream in pink, with the daintiest cubes of rhubarb, a little tuile crisp, and rhubarb snow. As you can tell, this is, in the words of Wordsworth, emotion recollected in tranquillity! I haven't mentioned the amuse bouche, the delicious bread and butter, and the dandelion and burdock chocolate with the coffee. Will that do? Down to earth with prosaic fish fingers at home today. Treat yourselves : its not just food, it's an experience!

Everything from arrival to departure was excellent. The staff were fantastic and we had everything we needed without having to ask. The food looked amazing and the taste was wonderful. Highly recommended.

This is a comfortable hotel with friendly helpful staff. We have stayed several times before. We have always enjoyed the food. We had several of the 'Covid meals. Which we also enjoyed. This time for the first night we had the five course menu. We liked the first and last course but we found the sauces so strong ,they completely masked the principle in the middle three courses. The second night we went A la carte and had the dishes not on the Five Course Menu and these where better. There is a short but excellent selection of wines by the glass.

Was looking forward to a special birthday treat but I was left unwhelmed by the experience. In general I believe that for the price we paid for the meal and drinks that it was just not value for money.

The food is extremely tasty, well balanced with excellent (smallish) portion sizes. Given the effort in presentation you expect a limited menu and that is what you get. Personally, the food is just a little too "rich" but the Northcote is a definite to visit...

Wine was good with tasting menu but just 3 out of 5 courses were good ( not outstanding) and 2 were raw and one was still bleeding on both our plates and the same for two tables beside ours. 60% is a C grade pass not an A* as one. Would expect at these prices let alone for a Michelin Star restaurant.

Once again, the food was good, particularly the two fish courses and the squab pigeon. All staff were personable, friendly, and approachable. Since our last visit, there were a few things that we feel weren’t up to the standard we have experienced before - The sommelier just recited the names of the paired wines, and where they were from, (which was already on the menu so didn’t really add anything to the experience) Normally we get an explanation of why the wine was chosen to complement the food. The menu didn’t advise that a cheese course was available, and unless we had noticed another table having a cheese course, we wouldn’t have been aware. Finally, we were asked to come at 1900 for a 1930 booking, but the first course did not arrive until 2020, which seemed a little late. Thought a lot about whether to rate as a three or four, but on reflection, and in comparison to other Michelin star establishments serving a tasting menu for similar prices, I think this was an average experience. Overall, a pleasant enough evening, and I hope the points raised above are helpful

We booked the Valentines package consisting of 5 course tasting menu followed by an overnight stay with breakfast. We added a wine flight. Staff very friendly and helpful. Service good, food very nice.Hotel suite clean and comfortable. Can recommend. Bill on check out was not clearly itemised which led to guest including ourselves having to ask for an explanation which of course slowed down the check out process considerably....a different billing system would be of benefit to the business and guests.

Went for valentines day special. Canapés and champagne on entry, the butter pie canapé was especially nice, a great spin on a classic. The meal was 5 courses with the hilights being the mackerel "cigar", the mushroom cappuccino, and the squab meatball. Each wine paring was perfect for the dish with the Yves Cuilleron Condrieu La Petite Côte being my favourite of the evening. The clementine desert was also wonderful. All finished off with a cheeseboard of selected exotic cheeses and an expertly made whisky sour. The service throughout was attentive but not overbearing, with staff quickly coming when you want something but not hovering aroundnwhen you don't. Just perfect in every way.

It was our granddaughters 21st & its become a tradition to bring them here. As usual the food, service, and overall ambience was excellent. It is always an amazing experience to dine at Northcote. The only disappointment was the house wine, which at £36 was not great plus there was a surprising amount of sediment in each of our glasses meaning we couldn't finish our wine.
