Really good fish and chips, not very expensive, I also tried the chicken burger, top quality bun fluffy and fresh, perfect quick meal for me. they do have sit in dine charge which is 1£, Chips quality and quantity is good, so 1 portion should be sufficient to share for 2

Good food, awesome persons in a fry smelling place. Fish not bad but chips not so good. Don't try calamari hard to eat.

Food was tasty , but was disappointed the chicken burger was just a burger and bun (no salad and dressing). 70p for a sachet of either tomato sauce , Mayo etc. was mean too for a meal for 2 that cost us nearly £30! Would just suggest a 5 star if these things got addressed!

Eat here! Incredible food and INCREDIBLE service. Went with a relative that has food allergies, the employees were so accommodating & helpful, they let us read all the food labels and made my relative a special food item.

I have managed some good chip shops over the years and had my own for several years I visited this one on Monday afternoon whilst on a day trip in Scotland and I have to say it was absolute quality perfect fish and chips and the peas were very well cooked

It boggles my mind that people would say this place is worth driving to from Edinburgh… The food was garbage. Fish was mostly soggy bread crumbs (for 20 pounds ?!), the hot chips were mostly raw, and the pea mash was pea mush …. Plus the staff was fairly disengaged, I guess travelers aren’t worthy of their time. A pity because Oben is truly a magical place otherwise.

We had lunch at Nories Fish and Chips Sit In Restaurant. The service wasn't great, I wanted a battered Chicken Breast Supper but I had ended up a really dried chicken breast without the batter instead. I wasn't happy when I had to reorder and repay my battered chicken because the staff never said if I wanted plain or battered. The service was slow. The atmosphere was too noisy with kids screaming, the staff shouting over each other and rabio blasting to the high volume on a Sunday. The food is very greasy and disgusting. It overpriced for what you get - cheap and basic. The restaurant was unhygienic with dirty cutlery handed to you. This place doesn't have kids meals where there one young lad came in for a kids fish supper but ended up charging him £10 for a small adult fish supper. Don't waste your money and go somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody especially families with young children. I wouldn't be coming back at Nories again. Daytime robbery.

Definitely lives up to it's reputation, the fish and chips were great.

Norries is always good. I sat in this time, the set up is fairly typical chippy cafe but very clean and organised. The staff are very friendly and clearly know their regulars well. Highly recommend Norries food. Marvellous!

Me and my friend will come to Oban from Kinlochleven and base our trip around getting a chippy from Nories. The food is always spot on and it’s safe to say that we always enjoy it. The staff are always super friendly and will always chat to us and make us feel welcomed. I would say that Nories is a must go if you are in Oban!

Absolutely delicious, perfect chips and we should know: we live in southend on sea which has lots of chippies. These were perfect, moreish and delivered with a smile. Ps (We happened to be passing on way to catch a ferry to the Isle of Mull, felt a bit peckish and nipped in for a portion of chips). We might return on our way back!

Best chippy in Oban. Sometimes the food is a little lukewarm but most of the time it is really good. The staff can be a little rushed when it is busy. Enjoy sitting in

Chose this fish and chip shop as recommended by Gordon Ramsey and friends. I don’t think they could have got what we were served. Spongy, greasy batter. Mushy bland haddock. I do not recommend this shop, there are at least 2 better fish and chip shops in the town.

Great place for getting fresh and crispy sea food in Oban. Went there after a recommendation and couldn't have chosen better. Clean space, friendly staff, and tasty products. Would highlight how helpful and friendly the owner was with me.

Visited today October 23rd 2023. These fish and chips were sensational. Going back tomorrow. A conosseur of fish and chips these are definitely up there with the best.

First night in Oban, seen the reviews and hankering for fish and chips did not disappoint. Lovely fresh fish, crispy batter and yummy chips.

First time in Oban on a Caledonia travel day trip. Our driver Walter recommend Nories and so we diced to give it a try. We ordered 2 haddock and chips. They were cooked to perfection. Fish had nice crispy batter and was very tasty. Chips were great too. Staff were very friendly. I would recommend you give it a visit.

Absolutely the best fish & Chips in Scotland, all very fresh, well presented and so tasty , also very friendly staff . Actually staff that give a dam , they interact with locals , tourists and and passers bye. Sit in or takeaway all cooked to order and well prices . Shout out to Anthony and I think it was Mary for helping out a few wayward tourists during storm Babet.

I’m from the Canadian east coast where we are also known for great seafood. This was the most amazing fish & chips I’ve ever had and for over 25 years I always order fish & chips if it’s on a menu at the restaurant I’m at. Biggest portion and also the best taste. Thank you.

As a family it was our first time in Oban, and of course we had to go for a chippy tea. We went to Nories. The fish and chips were unreal, so fresh and piping hot. The best part of the service was their attention to detail. With one vegertain pallate in the group, we had asked for a veggie burger, the lady serving (I think it was tracy) informed that all the food is cooked in animal fat, which was greatly appreciated. Will most definitely go back when in oban again.

We first visited a year ago and have talked about it ever since! We had haddock and chips again, this was delivered to our table as soon as it was cooked. Lovely crispy batter and perfect chips. Friendly and attentive staff, they are real professionals. Looking forward to our next trip to Oban!

I’m a Canadian traveller, first time in Oban. Nories hit the spot. Great fish and chips, personally had the haddock and I recommend having it with vinegar. The hostess greeted me as I walked in and gave me her recommendations. Anthony (appeared to be owner/head chef) asked during my meal if I enjoyed it, and was a delight to speak to after. Such a pleasant and welcoming experience. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing food. I didn't like that there was a three pound fee added though for eating in and which I was not told about. We opted to eat in because it was raining. We didn't have five star service though, we just had our food brought out to us in a paper tray. We had to take up our cutlery and throw our rubbish in the bin. As I say, amazing food but never heard of paying a fee to sit in and wait on myself. If not for this I would have given five stars.

In Oban looking for a fish and chip lunch. Saw this was 'recommended by 3 disreputable TV types and went in. The staff were cheerful and attentive. The fish was really good but the chip were not - they were like they'd been kept warn and not particularly hot or crisp. I would normally have gone back to discuss this but we had had them to take away and when we finished it started to rain heavily. Oh well.

Found a fish and chip shop that fries in beef dripping on out trip to Oban. It tasted amazing and the haddock was so fresh and flavourful. Massively enjoyable, would go back again on the next visit to Oban!

Had such a lovely experience at Nories recently. Was there with a group of pupils returning from a residential trip a few weeks ago, after we missed our train. The staff were excellent and very helpful. Completed our long order list of requests with a smile on their faces and even threw in a free juice for each pupil! And the chips were so tasty, really delicious! Would highly recommend! Thanks so much to all the staff involved for helping us survive and enjoy an unplanned afternoon in Oban!

Ordered fish cake and chips, after a few locals recommend Nories as the best. The chips were cooked perfectly and the fish cake was tasty, soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside.

Staff were not very friendly and rushed us through our order as though our custom meant nothing. Very expensive and underwhelming. We finished our expensive dinner with waste and felt like we’d been ripped off / easy targets.

We had haggis and chips. Huge haggis, might not have been cooked as long it needed to be and short on pepperiness but still OK. Good chips. The seating area is what you expect in a smaller chip shop. Service was good if a little brusque, probably from having to manage foreign tourists who don't know where to queue or don't know you can't reserve tables before ordering.

The chips was a bit undercooked and the batter2fish ratio not good. The batter tasted good but there was just to little fish. It was rush hour and the staff was yelling at each other and seamed stressed to a point where other customers noticed it as well.

1 of the best chippies I have tasted will use again when I'm in oban. The fact that my extremely fussy daughter was raving about how good the chios and curry sauce was stands on its own merit. Customers' service was great, and we felt welcome.
