Nora's Kitchen in Pembrokeshire

I live in Pembrokeshire but don’t visit Tenby a great deal. However each time I’ve come in the smells from Nora’s kitchen are amazing. During a solo shopping trip I picked up a vegetarian Malaysian curry and I didn’t disappoint. It was absolutely delicious. You could tell how fresh the ingredients were, it was made to order as heat preference was asked. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

It's hard to convey using words how good the food was from this place. Had the salmon curry special and the Aloo Roti. I was expecting it to be good, but not this good. If you're staying in Tenby and you haven't been yet, you need to go at least once.

Absolutely incredible food with service to match! A must for any visit to Tenby. I have been to Nora’s many times, often with several months between visits but Nora and her husband remember me every time, check my spice level and chat away with me whilst cooking my food fresh to order. Nora hits it spot on EVERY time, with food that is on tasty, you wish her restaurant was next door to your home. If you are looking for something more creative than fish and chips, please, please, please, make this top of your list.

Great tasting food, good service, only complaint is that the portion sizes are a bit small - for me anyway.

Nora’s was absolutely delicious! We bought food earlier in the day to reheat at home for dinner and loved it. The beef rendang was particularly good and the rotis were delicious. Lots of vegan and gluten free options, 100% recommend

We were on a family holiday in Tenby for the half term holidays. I had done some research beforehand and had found this place with its great reviews so really wanted to give it a try. My wife is vegan, so it was important to find somewhere we could all eat. On walking through the entrance to the Old Market Hall, we were greeted by the most fantastic smells from Nora's Kitchen, so we knew it was going to be good! The place is deservedly popular so you can have to wait a short while, as each meal is freshly prepared to order. We didn't mind the short wait though! I ordered the Malaysian Salmon Curry, my wife had the Vegan Nyonya Lime & Rice, and my son had the Mee Goreng. When we ordered we were each asked how spicy we wanted our food, which was great. Our food arrived and we all agreed that it was absolutely amazing. Definitely the best Malaysian food we have ever had! It was all delicious, fragrant, light and perfectly spiced! My wife said this was the best vegan curry she has ever had! Thank you so much! It really was amazing food, and we wished we lived closer or had something similar near to us! We even bought the Nyonya Lime Curry Paste to try at home! Thanks again.

We live in Essex but go to Pembrokeshire often. We always make a point of going to Tenby to visit Noras Kitchen. The food has never let us down. We’ve tried various dishes and enjoyed them all. This is a place I highly recommend and will always make a point of going to when I’m the area.

The food was tasty but we feel that the cost was far too high for the portion size and the fact it was takeaway which needed reheating. The price needs to be lowered considerably.

Delicious authentic Malaysian food cooked fresh to order! For the location (in the Tenby Market Hall) it is a little pricey though. Nora and her husband are friendly and chatty and it's a wonderful informal experience to sit in and eat.

Beautiful lunch - we had the salmon from the specials board which was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon :)

Some delicious Malaysian curry place inside Tenby Market Hall. I had some. Vegan Nyonya curry with rice. They do take away as well as a place to sit in. The food was great except, it was a little low in salt, spice levels were tolerable.

Ordered the Vegan Tofu Rendang Curry with Rice £12.95. The curry was tasty, very aromatic and rich in lemongrass. However, I ended up adding a lot of salt to the curry and rice, both really lacked seasoning. Asked for spicy and would say it was medium, will definitely ask for extra spicy next time! Unfortunately the curry lacked that rich coconut flavour you get with traditional Rendang. Otherwise, service was great and good portion size!

Made to feel that we were intruding, when asking to order a take away by the male member of staff. Ordered Nasi Goreng, Mee Goreng, Beef Rendang, along with two stuffed Thali. We were expecting a flavour sensation. The Beef Rendang was tasty, however Nasi and Mee Goreng and breads were extremely bland, lacking in ingredients and were very flavourless. Our son in law is Malaysian and he recommended ordering these dishes as they are a home cooked family favourite, so we’re expecting great things. Sadly we were extremely disappointed.

Found this place in the market following positive reviews. Very nice food, expect to pay £10 -£15 per person. We tried the egg fried noodles and chicken curry. It was delicious and would definitely return. Staff are friendly.

We were in Port Talbot for a wedding and decided to visit Tenby the next day. We were after a late lunch and were wandering around and went in the Old Food Market. Almost immediately on walking through the entrance the most amazing smells were hitting us from Nora's Kitchen, so we decided to eat there. I ordered the Malaysian King Prawn Curry and my husband had the Chicken Rendang Curry and we shared a roti. On ordering we were asked how spicy we wanted our meals which was a lovely touch as you rarely get asked this. All I can say is the food was absolutely outstanding. The most fragrant, tasty, spiced food that we have ever had and the prawns were huge! My mouth was tingling for hours with the flavours. As others have said, surroundings are quite basic, with the menu on boards, but it really didn't matter. We knew nothing about Tenby or this place and literally just stumbled upon it. Quite simply one of the best meals I have ever had and I really wished I lived closer. Thank you so much, it was amazing! PS, I'd love the recipe for the Malaysian Prawn Curry!

We’ve waited all week to visit Nora’s and it was well worth it. The food was beautifully spiced - rich and fragrant. I liked that you could choose no spice, mild, medium or spicy which suits all palates. We had chicken rending, nasi goreng and mee goreng and they were all superb. (We all chose medium spice which was definitely pitched right.) Given that everything is cooked to order the wait time (10-15 minutes) was very reasonable. The portions were perfect - if anything they’re large for lunchtime. There are lots of lovely places to find lunch in Tenby and we’ve tried quite a few, but this knocks the others out of the park. Great value fresh delicious food. Thanks, Nora’s kitchen!

We'd be trying to get to Nora's all week but the popularity meant we were missing out!... we were lucky enough to stop by late yesterday afternoon and although our choices were limited because they had nearly sold out, were not disappointed. We both had noodles & wow they fantastic!! We purchased curry paste too & looking forward to trying it at home. Thanks Nora & team, we'll definitely be back.

Excellent in every way. Don't hesitate! I'm pleased to have met Nora and to have congratulated her in person for her delicious, authentic and freshly cooked food.

This place is such a little hidden gem! So glad I decided to give it a go as the nyona lime curry was delicious, moist chicken and such a flavourful sauce. I'm not great with spice either and it was just perfect. You can sit in or takeaway and it's cooked right that minute. Perfect!

One word: Awesome! We loved the food very much. The atmosphere is a little special but very much reminiscent of street food places in Asia. Be careful with the spiciness though!

While I was waiting for the food multiple people walked past and everyone stopped to check for the smell and commented on the great smell! Food absolutely smashed it! So happy to find Malay Halal food in Tenby! Ordered beef rendang and mee goreng mamak for lunch! Food were freshly cooked and most importantly it was yummy! Reasonable waiting time and food portion was good too. All the best to Nora’s Kitchen .

This place is amazing! I walked past yesterday as they were cleaning up. The smells were Incredible so came back. Had the chicken rendang curry. So good. Definitely going back for the curry laksa before leaving Tenby. Nora and her husband are the best!

The best food in Tenby! I was there for a week on holiday and had chicken rendang and then went back the next day for Laksa. You have to preorder laksa the day before as it is quite labour intensive but it was worth the wait - the best laksa I've had and it's one of my favourite dishes so I've had a fair few! Thank you we'll definitely be back next year!

Gorgeous vegan lime curry. Shared a portion with my 6 year old and it was plenty! I like that they ask what level of spice you want. We had mild and it was the right amount. Really delicious food and much healthier than pasties (which we had attempted to buy but shops were not fully stocked), glad we came here.

Really lovely food, cooked fresh while we waited. Nora even stayed open a little while longer to accommodate us. We had fresh roti and basmati to accompany 2 fresh mains. Thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend. Great value.

The chefs recommendation was fantastic, I had number 1 from the board. The food was freshly prepared and was still very hot by the time I got home. Delicious authentic Chicken Rendang with Basmathi Rice and we requested Nora to make it spicy. Best Malaysian food served here. Nora uses fresh ingredients and cooks to order. We stumbled upon Nora's Kitchen when we were strolling thru the Market and since it was Hari Raya (Ramadan) we were glad to find this gem of a place with friendly accommodating owners. Thank you so much for everything. Anyone who loves Asian food please visit Nora's Kitchen and you will not be dissapointed, your taste buds will thank you for the wonderful experience.

Absolutely fabulous. We were caravanning in the area, and stumbled across Nora’s kitchen in Tenby market. So fresh tasting, so different from an Indian ‘curry’. We took it back to the van, reheated it later, mmmmmmmm

Nice food but cold in the market

On our last day in Tenby over Christmas we picked up one portion of made to order curry paste to cook our own curry at home and it was absolutely delicious! One portion was more than enough for two. Really fresh tasting and Nora took the time to give us instructions on how to cook it. We are back down next week and will be ordering a full takeaway for dinner, can't wait!!

Very nice food, freshly cooked, but agree with previous reviews that the portions are small, as containers only half filled. Glad we ordered extra otherwise would not have been enough. Beautiful taste and we will definitely return.

The chicken rendang was so fresh and tasty, we were talking about it all day! Highly recommend! Great food and reasonable pricing! Only bummer is it takes a few mins but you know it’s fresh as they make to order!

Amazing. We lived in SE Asia for some time and adore the food. Beef rendang in particular is one of my favourite dishes of all time. So very excited to discover Nora's on a return to where I grew up. Food was delicious and very authentic. We tried 3 dishes for 2 adults to have some different tastes. I only scored 4 because the portion sizes were small, the containers were half full so if we ordered 2 portions it would not have been enough.

As others have mentioned in their reviews, we were drawn to Nora’s Kitchen in Tenby market by the amazing smells emanating from there. We have been fortunate enough to spend time living in Singapore and Malaysia and were excited to try here. Unfortunately the first day it was sold out but today we got Mee Goreng and chicken Rendang along with Roti ( and some sambal for a Singaporean friend). Thank you Nora, it travelled well and we reheated it for dinner. It was all absolutely delicious and took us both back to very happy meals in SE Asia. Would absolutely recommend here and next time we visit Tenby I will be ordering in advance!! Thanks again and a pleasure meeting you both today and having a quick chat.

Ordered the Beef and Chicken Rendang Curry by phone in the morning and collected it at 4pm and my goodness was it worth the wait. It was absolutely beautiful. Would definetly recommend.

So so good. The other half and I ordered mee goreng and a lime chicken curry. They smelt amazing as they were being cooked and tasted even better. Really fresh ingredients. If you like Asian food this is definitely worth a visit if you're in Tenby. Sadly we go home tomorrow, otherwise we'd be back

Having had authentic Malaysian from the source, this was genuinely indistinguishable from the very best. Honestly cannot emphasise how amazingly perfect this food was. If you are a food lover, you really need to try this.

You only have to catch a waft of the delicious aromas coming from Nora's Kitchen to know you're in for a treat. Her food is the real deal and is an oasis of excellent food in a town which appears to just cater for tourists. We ordered two beef and two chicken rendang with roti to take back to Saundersfoot for dinner that night. We couldn't believe how authentic and delicious our meal was - we haven't had food as good as this outside of Malaysia and Singapore. Superb!

Stumbled upon this place going into the indoor market. We love Far Eastern food, so ordered some food to take home for dinner. So glad we did. Having just ate our nasi goreng and our curry, it was so delicious, we loved it. We ordered it with a bit of extra spice and it was lovely.Already looking forward to going back here to try more when we are in Tenby next year. Thanks xxxx

The aroma coming from Noras kitchen drew us into the market . There we were met with the amazing working kitchen We ordered beef and chicken rendang , and took it away with instructions how to reheat it later in the evening We ate it outside our holiday accommodation that evening and it drew people to us, enquiring what the delicious smells were The meal was amazing, so fragrant, and tasty with perfectly seasoned delightful spices We were so impressed that we have ordered another meal to take home at the end of our holiday , along with Noras fresh spice mixture, ( here’s hoping I can replicate her cooking)What a lovely couple running this kitchen, time to advise and chat Their prices are excellent value, especially as it seems everywhere else in Tenby is making out of holiday makers I wish one day to be sat at a table in your restaurant. I love Thai food and had beef randang and took it back for our tea.Beef was tendy but lacking in depth of flavour and came away disappointed My wife's Chicken and lime curry was also bland and I will readily admit I can do better myself at home

Family of 4.Tenby was absolutely packed and couldn’t find anywhere to eat. Stumbled upon Noras kitchen just before closing. Only 2 noodle dishes available at that time so just went for it. Was not disappointed, tasty and freshly prepared. Really enjoyed and priced reasonably, service was efficient.

The food for my family was like coming home. Rightly so, the demand for the food was high. So it was understandable that they had to control the number of orders taken because the food was freshly cooked to order. Just be aware to avoid disappointment. Our highlights were mee goreng mamak and the rendang.

Nora’s kitchen is situated within the market hall, which stumbled across - firstly you are hit by the smell, then when you read the menu - you just want to take it all. The food tasted better. What really disappointed and ruined our experience was the rude arrangement manner the male member of staff was towards me and my wife. We only asked if we could alter the menus slightly as our kids would not eat all of the ingredients. The arrogant manner which spoke to us was not very nice, my wife actually walked off in disgust. The lady chef was very polite and very nice. Very nice food - but the male member of staff needs lessons in customer service.

It was too late that day to make an order so I was determined to come back the next day to buy some of their lovely smelling food. The next day at lunchtime I ventured back to Tenby and Nora's Kitchen only to discover they were very busy and couldn't take any more orders at that time. To my disappointment I walked away unhappy that I didn't get to try their amazing smelling food😔. I went and booked a boat trip which was a few hours later so decided to have another stroll around the local shops to kill some time. Whilst heading back for the boat trip I had to pass the indoor market so decided to try my luck with Nora's Kitchen one last time as I wasn't coming back to Tenby. To my amazement, I was able to place my food order and collect it 10 minutes later. I was so happy and excited but unable to try the food right there and then as I was going on the boat trip so I placed the food carefully inside my rucksack (in takeaway trays). Later that evening I couldn't wait to try the Beef Rendang and Nasi Goreng Kampung... And it didn't dissapoint either! It was well worth the wait and persevering😊 It was absolutely mouthwatering and so delicious😋 Looking forward to my next trip to Tenby already, I certainly know the first place I will be heading for.. Most amazing takeaway we have ever had. The reviews speak for them self. Very reasonable priced. Located in side of the market and you can definitely smell the lovely smell before you find it. If you a fancy a quick bite to eat you can't beat this! We would definitely visit again!Can't recommend it enough, when we where there I heard a man say he'd gone there especially as he searched for Malaysian food as he was from Singapore. Everything was freshly cooked and piping hot when served. A must AAA++++

Lovely fresh take away - cooked to order. Ordered 3 different dishes (rice and noodles) and all were great. Due to its popularity and the fact it’s cooked to order there was a wait but well worth it. Highly recommend.

Tasty food with lots of vegan options to choose from.

Superb Malaysian freshly prepared food to order from a varied menu that tastes amazing and worth the wait. A small premises that packs so much into dishes that sing with flavour. Whatever you choose from the menu or specials menu you will return.

Discovered this little gem in April. Had to pre-order as they only make a certain number of dishes a day, and everything is made fresh. Absolutely delicious food, try it, you won’t regret it.

We had spotted Nora's kitchen on Tripadvisor while we were on holiday in Tenby and so went into the market to place our order for collection the following day. Nora and her husband could not have been any more helpful. We weren't familiar with Malaysian food so they helped us to choose what we ordered. The following day we collected our food and it was ready exactly as planned (we had messaged to ask for extra roti and also ordered some rendang paste and it was not a problem). As we were going to eat it later that evening, we were given great advice on how to reheat the food. Everything was delicious. We brought the rendang paste home and used it to make our own versions of rendang curry at home. Nora was happy to help with some instructions on how to make it. It wasn't quite as good as Nora's food, but still very tasty! Looking forward to eating more of their food when we go back to Tenby.

Revisited after 3 years and still on the mark!! If you want some Asian food comfort, Nora’s place is it! I’m Asian, and she is the place closest to home food.

I did a bit of homework before going to Tenby for a week. I read online about here and was determined to track it down whilst I was there. I found it tucked in the marketplace. As soon as I walked over the smells coming from there were hugely inviting. I had already checked how they operate and was told people normally order in advance to pick up later in the day (as far as I am aware it's only open until about 4:30). So on our last day I popped in early afternoon. Nora was busy cooking away and I asked if I could order. I was told that she was very busy with some large orders but I could collect at 4:30 and as we were only two people she could manage it which I was super happy about as I would have hated to miss out. Sadly, the beef rendang was all gone but I could order chicken rendang and also ordered chicken, rice and noodles. What can I say? The flavours were delicious and it tasted so fresh and didn't feel like takeaway food at all. It felt cooked with love. I noticed when I went back later to collect, other people passing through the market were stopping to look as the smells just entice you in! The absolute plus is that no MSG's go into the dishes which was my number one factor for wanting to find the place. I heartily recommend it to anyone and I'm absolutely gutted I was leaving the following morning as I would have loved to buy some of the sauce as I noted you could.

Whilst on a four day holiday to see close friends, we discovered Noras Kitchen. Located in the old indoor market, this gem of a lunch time restaurant delivered the tastiest food ( mild not hot spicy Malayan food) i have experienced. After my meal the taste was just zinging around my mouth. WELL DONE NORA

Working from a tiny premises in the market Nora and her partner produce the most delicious freshly cooked Malaysian food you could wish for. I opted for chicken rendang (medium spicy) and my partner had chicken rice noodles. Both dishes were excellent. Everything is freshly cooked to your taste (SO cant tolerate things which are too spicy). It was excellent value for money. Give it a try in preference to some of the more boutiquey places locally that want to charge an arm and a leg.
