No 97 in Kingston upon Thames

No.97 is our favourite local restaurant and our first choice to celebrate coming out of lockdown at. It remains amazing and serving incredible food. The back terrace has been decorated so elegantly that you honestly feel like your indoors. The food was up to scratch and fab value as always. Only slight negative was the strong smell of drains today which was a bit off putting but this was hopefully just bad luck and we will definitely be returning!

Thoroughly disappointed with No. 97. I came with high expectations, in light of how busy the restaurant normally appears. The service was slow and inattentive: it took 30 mins to get drinks and 40 to first get bread. Furthermore, the waitress seemed to lack the finesse required in a restaurant of this calibre. She was passive-agressive and placed glasses and plates all over the table, while rudely interrupting conversation in order to ascertain who ordered what, having taken the order herself. Frankly had the food been tasty I wouldn’t have cared about the service, but it wasn’t. Bar the bread and amuse bouche, the dishes lacked the precision you would expect from a restaurant with such a small menu. For instance, while looking pretty, one piece of duck breast was cooked rare, and the other medium-well. Similarly, a sea bass and risotto dish was overpowering to the extent that it tasted as if it had been doused in litres of fish stock. However, I must say the drinks were brilliant and reasonably priced, just not enough to make up for the service and food.

Had a takeaway tasting menu. Really excellent, fun to prepare at home and great value. Each course is sensibly pre-packed and they come with cooking instructions, so the whole process is pretty easy A lovely change during lockdown Thank you

This place is seriously good. The food is excellent and the service is great.We went on a Tuesday evening, and took advantage of the Experimental Tuesdays menu. The three choices in each course were not only varied in terms of ingredients, but also in terms of style of cooking. To get three courses for £25, on the outskirts of London is exceptionally good value. We also opted for the wine recommendations with each course, which were well thought out, and complemented each course beautifully.Surbiton can now claim to have another quality dining experience, to rank alongside the French Table.I would definitely recommend eating here.

Couldn’t fault this restaurant .. superb food , great service, great atmosphere even the music was excellent .. we will definitely return .. assuming we’re not all in lock down !

We choose to host our wedding at reception at No. 97 and were so pleased that we did. From the outset Sam and the team did their utmost to ensure that our every wish was accommodated. The service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. We could not have asked for more.

Such a treat to return to No97 post-lockdown. I definitely noticed the richness of the food - but it's not intended to be everyday fodder. The savoury cheesecake main course was incredible (I never wanted it to stop!). Only gripe would be right now salt & pepper needs to be in sachets, as I'd rather not touch the mills.

The best place I’ve eaten out!!! Impeccable service!Every course was absolutely perfect! It was my friends birthday and they even wrote a surprise ‘happy birthday’ on her dessert and gave her a little card on arrival! So attentive. The little touches just made it for us! So worth the money and our waiter, Joe, was amazing!Would highly recommend!!! Blown away by this place

Went for a meal with a friend, and was surprised by the inconsistency of mask wearing by staff. The lady on front of house wasn’t wearing a mask and didn’t observe appropriate social distancing. She leaned across me and made me feel very uncomfortable. She also served us our food with no mask on. The food was ok, but I was underwhelmed. I’ve eaten here many times, and the food has been much better previously. The hake had been overseasoned and was very salty.

A delightful place to eat our first post lockdown meal - great food, great service, great gin - great night!

I can't recommend No97 5 course takeaway enough. Fantastic value but wow the food was superb. Minimal effort to create top quality food, super easy step by step instructions and videos on how to plate. We had a great evening in the comfort of our own home.

The restaurant is currently open on Fridays and Saturdays for takeaway, you need to preorder the 5 course set menu online. The restaurant provide videos explaining how to plate the food up at home. This was the best meal we have had since the start of lockdown.

Ordered the new takeaway on Friday and is was amazing. This is not just a takeaway it is a dining experience. Very well packed and everything labeled corresponding to each course. Watch the videos to show you how to plate up and it actually looked like a Michelin star meal. Would thoroughly recommend to any foodies out there.

Have visited no.97 and its partner restaurant in teddington. Both are excellent. Food is great. Lots of gin to chose from

Have been here several times now, amazing what Sam has done to this place.Location is easy to get to from the station, venue has a good vibe and the gin bar downstairs excellent. The restaurant food is exceptional, a clever menu and good wine list.Will definitely return and can highly recommend

We have previously visited the sister restaurant in Teddington (much enjoyed) but found No 97 to be a cut above. The downstairs gin bar is cosy and intimate and the cocktails are expertly mixed - with a running commentary. My favourite gin - Nordes - is available so I was happy. The food was inventive, elaborate and served with brio. The staff really are great here. We will most certainly return and will be strong advocates in the interim.

I went to No. 97 for an anniversary dinner with my other half and we were blown away by the food. We were given complimentary fresh bread with different flavoured butters and then had an amuse bouché.I thoroughly enjoyed my main meal of sea bass - probably the best sea bass I’ve had but my favourite dish was the dessert which was apple in about five different ways! Very clever and so tasty. My only regret is that I didn’t take photos of every course but I take one of the dessert :)After dessert they brought out another mini dessert which was a sorbet with white chocolate, served in a shot glass..cute!They also put wine pairings underneath the food on the menu and the selection is great. Another thing to mention is that the staff were very friendly and attentive from start to finish.No. 97 also have a garden terrace area which I can imagine would be lovely in the summer but you can also hire it out for private occasions and they also have a cute little cocktail bar downstairs.We will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our evening at No 97. Great and lively ambiance, good service and delicious food. The set menu has some great choices and is very good value. Definitely recommended.

No place in Surbiton would beat No.97 when it comes to weekend brunch. Booking in advince advisable.

My wife and I have been meaning to go here for the past 18 months, but never got round to it. We finally went last night and were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome and we’re seated in the cosy and elegant setting. The menu is limited, but all sounded appetising. The drinks menu was extensive with a large selection of gin and cocktails available. The food was exquisite, service was friendly and attentive throughout and we look forward to visiting the gin den next time we go!

Took friends from out of town for a meal and they said it was the best food they'd had in a long time. Food is beautifully presented and so delicious. Good value at £35 for three excellent courses. There's even a little amuse bouche and petit fours at the end. Friendly service and a great gin bar downstairs which serves excellent cocktails

Small but busy restaurant, food, service and ambience all excellent. This is the second year when we have come for my birthday lunch on Valentines day and they have bot been very enjoyable.

Wonderful lunch experience on Valentines Day. Warm welcome and lovely staff. Carrot Panacotta starter and Guinea fowl main were exquisite. Sea bass starter average and cod main was wonderful but slightly on the salty side. Chocolate delice dessert was ok but too dense for me. Fantastic experience overall.

We went to No97 for a birthday dinner and sat in the "conservatory". The surroundings are pleasant, the food was superb, the service efficient and friendly. What more can one ask? We started with cocktails - very nice. I then had the scorched salmon - exquisite. For main I had the cod which was excellent. And for pudding the chocolate delice - wonderful! The menu is small but changes regularly and although not cheap was worth every penny. I look forward to going again.

Excellent 3-course lunch. Went for the Carrot Pana Cotta, gnocchi and banana mousse. All beautiful looking dishes full of balanced flavours. Really recommended

After visiting No.97 for the third time today, I feel compelled to write a review for this amazing venue.

Ambience, food and service far exceeded my expectations of a previously undiscovered local Surbiton restaurant, to which I shall return. Our waiter "River" from the Philippines deserves special note. He was exceptionally professional - friendly, charming, authoritative and competent, not simply a subservient server. I suspect he was overworked and under pressure but he did not show this. He made a big impact by confidentiality reassuring me on a few menu details I was unsure about. I had a couple of questions he could not answer. Rather than prevaricate, he went and secured the correct answers.

Went in for Sunday brunch. Ambience and service was very good - waiter was friendly and informative but get food was average at best. Prices weren’t too bad.

We popped in after visiting the Farmers Market for Saturday brunch. The place was packed, fortunately we had booked a table, there were 5 of us. The food was good, although some of the dishes I felt were small portions

Meeting my sons fiancés family for the first time and this was the perfect environment. Excellent food and service with great attention to detail and wonderful ambience. Great value for money for the standard of dining. Would definitely recommend!

We met some old friends in the downstairs bar before having dinner in the conservatory. Not sure how the bar and restaurant are connected, but the two offer very different experiences. The bar is cramped and noisy - too few soft furnishings and a low ceiling - and is eye wateringly expensive. A G&T;, a white wine, a single martini and a Diet Coke came to over £36.It might be worth it if you’re into niche gins, which is their thing, but note that they don’t stock either Plymouth Gin or Bombay Sapphire as they are “too straightforward”. If not, get your pre-prandial drinks elsewhere. The restaurant however is a different matter. Excellent modern European food, attractively presented, knowledgable and amusing staff. Not cheap but fair price for the quality with a fixed price menu. Only picky criticism - the bread isn’t much to write home about and comes in tiny quantities though more is available if you ask. Overall the restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Given the bracket of dining this establishment is I am going to be a bit picky and do not apologise for this.

Sam, Alex and Georgina were excellent! They help me pull of a surprise for my wife and all the little touch with the the "Happy Anniversary" card on the table to the "Happy Anniversary" piped on our desserts made our special night that bit more special. The food as always was AMAZING!

My family and I went out to No97 last November for a few drinks and I can say without a doubt it was one of the most amazing and liveliest nights out we’ve had in a long time.

Interesting food well presented, good atmosphere impressive menu, preferred the outside room less cramped and less noisy.

We visited No 97 for my wife’s birthday and we left suitably impressed with everything about this restaurant.

I came up from Cornwall to have dinner at this great restaurant with close friends. At about 10.30 no97 had a problem with a split pipe in their basement and we had to use the loo in their sister restaurant next door at Cento Uno. A little adventure to check out their other restaurant! Hardly a problem but I just want to say that the staff were amazing in both restaurants. They were completely reassuring and professional.Thank you for a great night once again!

We recently ate here as a party of six. Apart from the excellent food we also experienced fantastic customer service. We experienced an issue while we were dining which was caused by another customer, but Kim went above and beyond to resolve it for us, much to my delight. Thank you!

I think you should be told when you arrive if there are NO working female loos on the premises. Was asked to go to a the sister restaurant next door. Is that even legal? Very poor.

We celebrated my daughters birthday at no 97 last night and had a most enjoyable time. Loved the decor and ambience of the restaurant . The waiter was very attentive and relaxed. The food was delicious. Each dish was beautifully presented, well cooked with a great balance of flavours. Price was reasonable too.

Having recently moved back to area after living in London for the last 10 years, I'm delighted to find that the variety of restaurants to eat in has improved greatly. I have been to No 97 twice in the last few months and have enjoyed both occasions. The menu has been different each time which I believe keeps things interesting and I will definitely return!

If you want to enjoy a bespoke gin experience, No97 is the place to go. The bar though is hidden away in the basement and is addition to watching your gin being made you can observe a very local gin being made on the side (of the bar). Upstairs the restaurant is small but the food and service is superb. You wil not fail to enjoy.

Lovely evening sitting at the counter to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Refined menu and nice atmosphere. Cool bar in basement.

Visited again at the weekend with some girlfriends. The gin bar downstairs is cosy and as you would expect the bar staff very knowledgeable. Upstairs we sat at the counter and watched the buzzy kitchen . We had mackerel to start and sea bream for main . Home made bread and butter - smoked and salted ! To die for ! No desserts but enjoyed the petits fours and fresh mint tea.

Was taken here by my son for brunch - a nice boozy brunch. 2 courses and two cocktails later the time had flown by. Staff were good even if food was a while coming out - although we were warned about it when we arrived. Music a bit loud but then again I am getting old.

We visited this restaurant after reading great reviews on here. We were not disappointed!! On arrival, it was quiet but still had a nice atmosphere, within an hour it was busy, but staff remained really friendly and everything from start to finish was exceptional.

We went for the first time to No 97. We arrived early before the opened. The staff was very welcoming and let us in early and sat down. We choose to have the 1 course brunch with coffee and water which is a great deal.

My family have recently moved to the area and they are so lucky to have this restaurant in their doorstep. Really lovely welcome. I dislike really long menus as I can’t see how the kitchen can ensure freshness. Here the menu is short and sweet and everything on it, I would have happily tried. Delicious food, beautifully presented. We will be back !

I chose this place for our Anniversary celebration based on the reviews and I’m so glad that I did.

Went on a busy Friday early evening....positives would be very smart, buzzy and the staff were friendly. However, the food was extremely disappointing...pure style over substance and some very strange combinations that simply did not work. My beetroot starter was an odd mixture of beetroot cubes, no green leaves, a couple of different cheeses, a walnut...all served dry...did not work. The main guinea fowl tasted like cheap rubbery chicken and had been dried out under a hot lamp for too long (broccoli thermo-nuclear). Basically everything looks great, but the actual quality (on a very limited small menu) is very poor. Will not be returning

My friend invite us for dinner and want to do it in a restaurant close to the place we were staying (we were tourist) they are English, so they choose this one, and it was just walking distance to our place, it was a very cute place, and the food very tasty, I was surprise and happy and will recommen it to our family living in Surbiton.

My friend and I came here for a catch up dinner. We went for the excellent early bird menu which was amazing value, £22 for 3 incredible courses! Can’t wait to eat here again. Highly recommend.

The weekend set brunch is brilliant and really good value for money at £16 for two courses which are good portions! I had the ultimate bagel which was delicious followed by the French toast which was a lovely way to finish a big lunch - really friendly staff and would love to go back again!

I visited Number 97 with my wife on a Saturday night in August 2019. As always, the menu was varied and interesting. The service was impeccable and the staff all have a great sense of humour. The cocktails are good and they have an excellent selection of gins. There is even a gin bar downstairs.

No 97 is family run as I was proudly told, and it shows. the attention to detail in layout, decoration, graphic design, and of course most importantly the magnificent food and drink cannot be faulted.

on the 6th August we booked a table for lunch. Food was exceptional with very friendly service. Ragstone mousse and chicken and pistachio terrine were outstanding, as were the parfait and panna cotta. Thoroughly recommended and well priced ! Now Surbiton has two fine dining spots. I recently brought my friend for supper at No.97. We were seated out the back in their conservatory which was lovely, sunny and had a really nice ambience. We started with a rhubarb sour cocktail (INCREDIBLE!!) before moving on to a wonderful 3-course meal. My friend & I purposely chose different dishes so we could share a sample of the menu and I can honestly say that we both loved every dish, so much so we had to stop & thank (Tom) and his team in the open-plan kitchen, personally, as we left. Great atmosphere, great food, great team. Both my friend & I have already re-booked to bring other friends along. Highly recommended.

Our second visit to this restaurant was for our wedding anniversary - everything was lovely - from the fabulous selection of gin in the very cosy bar downstairs to the friendly and helpful staff to the amazing food which is beautifully presented and packed full of flavour. There's an upbeat informal vibe - the music was a selection of dance floor anthems, there was lots of chatter and the youngish clientele were so relaxed that some looked like they'd just come off the beach - just so far away for the usual stuffy formality of high end restaurants. Highly recommended

We live locally and have been many times now and it’s always fantastic. Had brunch there today which was so good we felt compelled to write a review. Great menu, well priced and lovely service.

Two friends and I came here for a bottomless brunch and loved it! The staff were incredibly helpful and allowed us to change our booking for 30mins later as one of us was running late. Dino and Fern, in particular, were especially helpful and made us feel very welcome and allowed us to really enjoy our morning and get the most out of our brunch. I had the French toast and we all had mimosas which were delicious. Our glasses were constantly refilled so it really was bottomless! Would highly recommend to everyone.

Staff are very polite and welcoming, food is brilliant and prices are good value so well wort visiting! We enjoyed ourselves so much and ths ended our weekend witn our daughter and futire son in law with a high!

I needed to see a friend/associate for an informal meeting somewhere between where we both live and he suggested 97 Surbiton. I had heard of it before but had thought that it was in a different less pleasant location.

What a gem! I was invited here by a friend. I have worked in Surbiton for a while and didn’t know this place existed. A delightful place to dine.

Went with some friends. Started in the gin bar and finished with dinner. Great food but that’s expected as quite pricy. Would highly recommend

I can’t recommend this place highly enough. We went to celebrate my birthday/wedding anniversary and we were delighted that we chose No 97. Usually we head up into central London but friends had suggested here so we booked. They’ve got it just right. An interesting short menu - all our choices were delicious. Excellent service - attentive enough without being annoying. Great music - not too loud so not intrusive but fun. I’m so happy to have found a local restaurant that ticks all my boxes. And there’s a cool little speakeasy style coktsil bar downstairs too with a MASSIVE selection of gin and staff who really know their stuff. Thank you No 97. We’ll be back!

I came here for a friend's 50th birthday. We had a lovely brunch. It's a bit limiting though and a shame there is no lunch service, also if you don't like eggs you're a bit stuck! Our waitress was a bit too laid back as we did need the menu explaining... She was OK when we got her attention though. All in all a good experience.

Food was good but cold. Service average. We had the 3 courses for £33 per person and had a total of 5 drinks. Final bill of £135. Shocked. Going back to dispute the 6th drink that We didn't have tomorrow.

This is my 3rd visit to this restaurant- I went this time for my birthday with 7 friends! We were so looked after from start to finish... the food was faultless, the atmosphere incredible and it was a truly special evening. The bill soon rose when we ordered a number of gins and wine, extra sides and cheese!! It’s amazing for a special occasion! You must visit!!! The little bar downstairs is also a secret gem!!

Having been to No 97's sister restaurant in Teddington a couple of times, I was keen to check out No 97 & was not disappointed. I went with 2 girlfriends & we were greeted by a wonderful host who's name I didn't get but she is everything you expect in a host - welcoming, friendly, warm, knowledgeable & super organised. We sat at the bar initially & had a chat with Sam about making us a drink with pink gin. He made a great recommendation which we loved & had the same again when we explored the gin bar downstairs after dinner!

Arrived early and dived down into the gin bar downstairs. Superb knowledgeable bar man- amazing drinks, really creative. Dinner- amazing food and loved every course. Came in to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary and had a fantastic time. Book a table!!

Great food and drinks. Haven’t been to 97 for food since it opened as every time we try it’s always full. Can’t recommend this enough, had ham terrine followed by the cod, both of which were excellent, wife had the mackerel and Guinea fowl and tbh was a little food jealous. We finished with bee pollen and lavender panacota, washed down with great white Rioja and obviously a few gins. The restaurant is compact, always busy but you don’t feel jammed in, the staff are great, attentive and friendly without being in your face. Do yourself a favour, book a table and go. You won’t regret it.

We dined here for the first time and wished we’d discovered it sooner. The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout the whole evening. The food was amazing - well presented - taste and texture. We had beef for main and it was so tender. We had different deserts - white chocolate with honeycomb, and dark chocolate desert - they both tasted amazing. I could not get over how reasonably priced the meal and wine was for the quality. We went for our wedding anniversary and were made to feel special (even other diners were friendly). I highly recommend ‘No 97’ and will definitely dine there again.

We went for brunch. The menu is small but the choice is adequate. Modern combinations of deliciousness. I had the bbq pulled pork & it was really tasty, not too sweet & portion just right. Really impressed with staff & the atmosphere was buzzy. Really nice the water either still or sparkling was complimentary. Prices were very reasonable. A must try.

6 of us went for brunch on Saturday 11th May. We had a table in the conservatory section at the back. Friendly helpful staff and good atmosphere. I chose the poached eggs, chorizo and hollandaise option which was delicious. Other family members had the same as me, or the waffles, and the croque. All were well presented and much enjoyed. We didn’t have a pudding, just the one course option with coffee, but they also gave us some tasty little fruity flap jacks which was a nice touch. We will certainly go back for brunch or try lunch/dinner options.

We opted for the early bird which at £22 was great value. Fine dining type food but decent sized portions. All the food was absolutely delicious.

We went to No 97 on a Saturday evening for dinner with family. The 3 course menu for £33 is outstanding value for food of exceptionally high quality.

Creative menu, frequently changing with local ingredients, reasonable price for the high quality cuisine, really friendly staff, great wines and gins, secret gin bar downstairs. Really couldn't fault any part of the experience.

Visited with friends Saturday evening. Food upstairs, looked very busy and smelt nice. We were only having drinks so went straight downstairs.

I booked a table for last week for my partner’s 40th birthday and we certainly not disappointed! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were well looked after with a warm welcome to attentive staff throughout the night. The restaurant is small but perfectly sized to give it a buzz without feeling crowded. The staff were always happy to answer any questions regarding the food menu and also gave excellent recommendation from the gin menu. I was particularly impressed that I was able to contact them the week before and explain that I had unforeseen dietary requirements for my visit, this was no problem at all as when we arrived the menu has been slightly altered for me without any awkwardness, nothing here is too much trouble! The meals are sensationally tasty and beautiful to look at. We had a truly lovely evening and are very much looking forward to our next visit. If I could give more than 5 stars I would, no97 is a true gem!

A classy, stylish and sassy establishment but most important of all one that serves fabulous tasting food that is prepared and presented with passion and panache. It’s lively and buzzing - all in all a lovely, interesting and innovative experience! I loved it. Great cocktails with a huge gin list - fab Negronis! The quality of the food is superb, and the cooking inventive. I started with mackerel which was perfectly cooked (not over cooked as is often the case elsewhere) accompanied with a refreshing counterpoint of daikon - yummy. We all had hake for main which was lovely. The menu is fairly short (one fish dish, one veg dish and two carnivorous mains) - and all the better for it. You really do not need to go further than Surbiton Village for a gastronomic treat.

I booked a table for myself and my fiance. Special shout out to Issie who provided exemplary service from start to finish. The food was amazing. Would recommend to anyone in the area!

Very good food and enjoyable cocktails. The service was fantastic. We had a bar seat, which still gave us enough space for us to feel like we were having an evening together. There was a great view into the open kitchen.

What a great find this restaurant is! This former bar has transformed itself into a fantastic fine dining establishment. My wife and I have eaten at the French Table along the road many times and No 97 is comparable at lower. We both had the two course lunch (only £17). The guinea fowl was fantastic and both our desserts of rhubarb parfait and passion fruit custard tart were delicious. All dishes would not look out of place in a Masterchef final and the combination of flavours in eat was perfect. We can't believe we haven't eaten here before. On top of that, the service from our waitress (I think her name was Rose) made the whole experience first class. We had our 6 month old son in tow and they happily provided a high chair and space for our push again. When the wee man wouldn't have a nap, Rose took him for a cuddle to allow us to eat our main courses. Well and truly above and beyond the call of duty.
