Fantastic food and great service. I had the roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Cooked to perfection. Dessert was crumble and custard. Delicious 😋

Very good value for money. Is it refined no, is it grand food no, but what it is, is wholesome hearty honest food great for an everyday meal.

Visited the No.5 Inn for the Christmas menu dinner as a party of 10. Food was amazing and portions were huge. Staff were very attentive and helpful. They looked after so well and the table was decorated beautifully with Santa hats. Thank you very much, everyone loved the whole experience.

Yet again, another fantastic meal here. Anyone who hasn't been must try! Starter of mussels in a garlic sauce spot on! Main of fish & chips fab! Dessert of homemade pavlova fantastic! Compliments to the chef & very attentive waiting staff.

Booked for Sunday lunch, had a starter of Leek & Potato soup, served with a hot bread roll/butter (home made) tasty. Mains they only doing roast beef, but plenty of it and was tender. Looked after at the table by Sarah, who made us welcolme. A great 1st visit.

Absolutely loved this place. Very warm and welcoming, family friendly. The food is totally amazing and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely customer service. Would recommend to anyone with confidence. Loved it and sorry we don't live locally 🙂

Just had the most amazing meal at the No 5 in Alva....went with Partner,Daughter and Grandson(who has various allergy's) Friendly mine host Alison and her Staff made the our visit most enjoyable.Food was delicious and piping hot. Myself and Daughter had the Sunday roast and have to say, best Roast Beef I have had for years. Partner had Cajun Chicken. My Grandson had Macaroni cheese, after checking all ingredients with Chief, usually going out can be stressful as so hard to accommodate him but today was stress free. Great food, friendly atmosphere and excellent service 5* Would highly recommend 👌 Looking forward to our next visit!!!

Contacted Alison ahead of time requesting a vegan meal, and gave an idea of what I was wanting, also explained we needed wheelchair access and a quiet table. Alison was very responsive and helpful with our email request. We were greeted and looked after by Katy who is a friendly and helpful front of house staff member. My partner enjoyed his steak pie and sticky toffee pudding. Thank you to the chef for making delicious food. My vegan meal was awesome, The music was very chilled and the atmosphere so relaxing we didn't want to leave. We moving to the area and thrilled to know this is going to be one of our local watering holes. Thank you to all the staff.

Second time we’ve been - as it is just short of 400 miles from home! However not disappointed. My starter was mussels and I had 40 - all beautifully cooked. A hidden gem. We will be back!!!!

Well first time visiting this place as we have recently moved to the area and was quite excited to find somewhere nearby to eat. Unfortunately just had a dreadful experience where we ordered chicken wings and as we chewed into them they were frozen this is totally unacceptable under any circumstances. We continued to the mains but we felt that we were very wary of what we were eating so in all very disappointing. The staff were lovely they offered an apology the manager however did not even mention it as she took the bill. Will not be back.

We came across this Inn by accident, just out for a walk and landed up in Alva. Service and food were very good. We both had the Sunday roast, my beef was lovely. Can’t fault anything about our visit. Staff very helpful and friendly. We will certainly go back.

I cannot speak highly enough of Alison and David and their staff team at the number 5. I’m from Alva but have lived in Whitley bay for many years. Whenever I am back home to see my family and friends I have dinner here. Tonight I messaged Alison on Facebook for a late booking. She went out of her way to accommodate us. The chicken fajitas were amazing, lasagne perfect and the kids were on an ultimate high about their desserts. Never disappoints thanks again !!

Lovely meal here tonight- warm friendly atmosphere. Lovely Caribbean chicken & banana salad - husband had a nice gammon then apple pie. Very good value - served with a smile which makes a world of difference. Definitely worth a visit.

We were staying in the area and I made a reservation here to watch the football. The staff were very accommodating both on the phone and during our visit. The food was very nice, we had mains and desert and really enjoyed it.I would definitely recommend a meal or a drink here.

We booked dinner at short notice and what a 'treat' it turned out. An excellent menu to choose from and served to you by helpful and friendly staff. Our chicken and hamburger dishes were plentiful, well presented and most importantly, so tasty and enjoyable. All prices so reasonable.After dinner you have the choice (should you wish) of having drinks in the lounge or in the sitting area outside.Alva - you do have a local 'GEM'.

The dining room was pleasant and comfortable with no intrusive music. The menu was very broad giving plenty of choice. The waiting staff were friendly, professional and efficient with the the food arriving without undue delay. When the food arrived it was of high quality and very enjoyable and at a reasonable price.Overall we had a relaxed and enjoyable meal and will be going back, we live near to the restaurant but if we didn't, we would travel to it.

Sadly despite previous visits a poor experience. Steaks not cooked to order, drink orders forgotten about, halloumi cheese starter poorly designed and mixed, waiter seemed poorly trained and forgot essentials like finger bowl, adding banana to your Caribbean salad needs rethought out. In the end a disappointing visit to what could be a great place. Take a note out the Woodsman on quality and service.

We arrived to be greeted well and was promptly seated. Fab fish and chips and the chicken Fajitas tasted amazing. Staff wonderful and very attentive, even though the establishment was super busy. Thank goodness after lockdown. Thank you all @ NO5.

Stopped here for lunch - what a fantastic wee place, and the food was really good and so reasonably priced. They also do pensioner portions - and that was still a very generous amount for the price. The macaroni cheese was delicious. On top of that, the staff were so friendly. Well worth a visit.

It’s been many years since we’ve been in Alva and after a walk up the glen went to the No.5 for lunch, very warm welcome and the food was fantastic not what you would expect from a pub, we both had the steak pie and it was one of the best steak pies we’ve eaten served with fresh seasonal vegetables. The prices were very reasonable, the phone was constantly ringing for bookings, so obviously a popular place, will definitely pop in next time we are passing.

Went tonight with the family and the menu for all ages was well varied. Food was delicious and portions plentiful, kids really enjoyed their meal and they were made very welcome. The desserts are to die for and the prices really reasonable, service was done with a smile and staff were very polite at all times, will be back.

Carry out to the highest standard, food and hygiene was impeccable. This has got to be one of the best food (pub) you can purchase in Clackmannanshire. The food tastes absolutely delicious, I would recommend the Chinese curry with boiled rice and the sweet was very tasty. We can’t wait until this pub gets the go ahead to reopen again as I want to take all my family for a meal which I know they will be no complaints. Keep up the good work all and I wish you all the success when you get back to the new norm.

What a lovely restaurant. The food is always stunning. After one visit we decided we would go back weekly to work our way through the menu. The steak pie was especially yum. The kids menu is varied and so generous. The staff are super family friendly and we felt at ease with our toddler being, well, a toddler there.

We were here for a family members 50th birthday last year and we all enjoyed that. Well here we were again, for the same sister’s birthday but this time we were in the main restaurant and although there was enough big family meal coming to an end it didn’t impact on our group. The menu is really comprehensive and most definitely had something for everyone. Half of our table had starters but I’m not too keen but everyone who had opted for soup were pleased with their choice.There were a number of different main courses chosen and each one looked good and seemed to be fresh and piping hot. There were only two of us who went for desserts and yes, I was one of the two! Sticky toffee pudding, sauce and ice cream, fine dining at its best, divine!The staff at No.5 are terrific, warm, friendly, professional and efficient. The ambiance is warm, comfortable and friendly, good food, good company, good evening had by all!

The food was excellent and if that was the only criteria 5 stars would be deserved however over 2 hours for a 3 course meal was just too long. Definitely will go back but with fingers crossed.

Went there tonight for our evening meal . We started of with prawns on skewers to share, then my wife had the gammon steak and I had chicken in a pepper sauce. Although this appears to be in a relatively small place, and up a back street. This is a popular place and was quiet on entering, but was getting fairly busy before we left.

First time at the No 5 and I will most definitely be going back! Food was amazing, place was nice and homely and Alison was so inviting, my girls fell in love with her the minute she came over to speak to us, couldn’t have asked for a better family meal so thank you to the no 5 for letting us enjoy a wee night out together.

On a whole most things were fine with a few exceptions. Couldn't fault the starters or the desserts at all. Chocolate fudge cake was lovely! My daughter had the special main course which was chicken a la king. She said that the rice was quite hard and undercooked and it wasn't what she was expecting. The sauce was nice - reminded me of the sauce that you got with the VESTA chicken supreme. Both my husband & I had steak. I like my food served on the one plate. On this occasion my steak was served on a seperate dish to my mash. Doesn't really work for me or my husband. Also we were asked by the waitress if we required any sauces etc. My husband asked for mustard and by the time it came to our table he was almost finished his meal. A bit embarassing at the end as my husbands credit card was not accepted for payment and then I tried 2 other credit cards - again wouldn't accept the card in the reader. Finally my debit card was accepted in the reader. What would have happened if we didn't have our debit card with us as we didn't have enough cash to pay. Were we the only people having issues - the restaurant was quite busy that night with a couple of large groups in for birthday meals.

We visit the No 5 regularly and always get the best of attention and great meals. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive. We would recommend this establishment.

We picked No 5 as it was somewhere we had not visited before. It was an excellent choice and we will certainly visit again. The Menu was very varied and would suit all tastes. The food was well cooked and the presentation was spot on. It was served piping hot which is always a bonus. The staff were all very good. All in all we had a very pleasant

This is our local pub/dining place. The food is exemplary all the time. It is well worth a visit even although you do not stay in the area. The service is fantastic and a warm welcome awaits you from the owners Alison and David.

I’ve been here twice now with family and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal on both occasions. The staff are very friendly and chatty, my new favourite restaurant by far!!

Never had a bad meal here, staff are always welcoming and friendly, went in on friday without booking and it was very busy but a table was found which was very much appreciated as we had a hungry 5 year old with us. The mussells have to be among the best ive ever had.

Called in here for our final evening out before heading back to England. Staff very accomodating and managed to find us a table; fortunately we were quite early but we noticed quite a few reserved spots. Maybe a good idea to book ahead at weekends! Service was quick and polite, meals arrived quite speedily and were excellent wrt flavour and temperature and quite large portions. Several of our group selected from the 'specials' and these meals were excellent.Good selection of beers and wines.Pity we didn't find this place earlier.

Took my mum & step dad for father's day lunch. Meal was absolutely lovely, we all had the Sunday roast (different variations). Gluten free option wasn't an issue, even had gf gravy! Apple crumble & forerro roche cheesecake were to die for!

Popped in on spec as had been in adjacent pub a few weeks ago, the restaurant was very busy and we hadn’t booked but a table was found for us,the service & food provided by the extremely friendly & personable staff was excellent & was probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had, thanks to all concerned for a memorable experience.

Recently visited and was impressed with the broad range of choice on the menu something for everyone. All the food and drink are all reasonably priced and food is served quickly by friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Having visited here a few times recently I cannot fault either the service or the food. Alison and her staff are very courteous and friendly. The food is more or less standard fare but it's always cooked to my liking and well presented. I highly recommend this inn and restaurant for family and couples to enjoy a satisfying dining experience.

I don’t often get to eat out for a lunch on Sunday with the wife, today was an exception and I’m happy to report that this restaurant ticks the boxes if you want a warm, friendly atmosphere, attentive service and tasty food at a good price. Will be back.

We've been here about 4 times. Every meal has been absolutely wonderful and the owner has lots of time for us, which makes us feel at home here. Everything is made from scratch and it really is top notch. A hidden gem of a place, and we'd go more often if we lived locally.

Having moved to the area a few months ago we decided to go out to one of the local restaurants for a St Valentine.s meal .The restaurant was nice and clean and the service was excellent. There is a large menu with lots to pick.The restaurant is a little of the main road but well sign posted .

This was a lovely bar to finish of the day. We had a beer in a nice cosy atmosphere with lots of friends what more can you ask for. The young lady was very cheerful and happy and the place was nice and clean. We have been hear before and we will be back again.

This place was recommended to us so we went today and it was lovely friendly staff a very good menu with a lot of choices and reasonable priced. When the food came to us it was fresh ,well presented and hot and the staff were very attentive. Would definitely go back highly recommended but only do lunches and dinners Friday, Saturday and sunday

My Niece treated my Sister and I had tea here tonight, we hadn't been before and they were travelling east afterwards so didn't have too long to linger, but we definitely will next time. Staff were great, happy and chatty, food was delicious and we all had to taste each other's, hard choices to make as the menu was so tempting, great job chef, your food did u credit. i stayed in Alva for a few days and No 5 Inn became my local. Alison and the team are lovely. Recommend booking, especially for the Sunday Roast. They will squeeze you in where possible without a booking. Generous portions and super friendly staff.

we had a family and friends evening here..first time dining here too but the others had all been lots of times. the food was lovely..was busy as it was a sunday night.. reccommend booking a table.. parking is a bit of a problem..but over all a pleasant evening ding out.

Visited with friends for dinner. The restaurant is clean and staff friendly but the food was less than average fair, it tasted frozen and not great quality. Our friends steak was ‘off’, in fairness it was quickly replaced and apologies given so can’t fault the service.

Our family visited the No 5 for years and it never disappoints. My last visit last week was no different. Alison and staff always go out their way to make sure your visit is pleasant I would highly recommend it to anyone

Had small steak served on sizzle plate. Ordered it medium and it came out under seasoned very thin and well done. Would recommend they served an extra plate as sizzle plates are very small and can't fit chips on, also not keen on putting sides in the fat. Ordered an extra side of onion rings and found 2 rings for £1 pricey. Wouldnt have steak again

We found this place when looking to take my Aunty (who lived in Dollar at the time) someplace different to eat. It had good reviews so of we set.

The place seems to be a popular choice among the locals, always a good sign. Dinner was OK - average taste and presentation. Food was served hot and at the same time for all the guests.The service was good at to begin with, we waited ages for the bill though.

Visited this venue - as a Pub, and Restaurant a few times now and the latest today was still as good. Fantastic Menu, very Polite and Friendly Waitress, Owner, as always very welcoming. Highly recommended, and will definitely go back.

Visited this place for the first time on Saturday 9th June with my husband,mum and 2 granddaughters .. restaurant is beautifully furnished and welcoming .. Alison met us and seated us with such a friendly caring manner and the continued service throughout our time here and she was brilliant the whole time .. food was fantastic and beautifuuly presented .. my granddaughters fell in love with the wee cute kiddies toilet seat in the ladies and also the variety of toys on hand too .. first visit and it certainly won’t be the last .. look forward to returning again soon .. Visited one Saturday afternoon with my husband and two young kids. Kind of stumbled on this place and very glad we did!! The food was outstanding, service by Alison was great and the place had an overall lovely homely atmosphere. Living in Bathgate I’d now drive to eat here instead of going Edinburgh or glasgow as we usually would.

First time for a meal not impressed told we could only have bar menu due to only having trainie chef on yet family arrive 2 minutes later and where offered full menu had better meal
