Nino's in West Berkshire

This is a super little neighbourhood Italian restaurant. I wish there was one near where I live as I think I'd be in here all the time! Food was great - particularly enjoyed the seafood which tasted super fresh. Charming helpful and warm service, lovely decor and good lighting. What more could you want? I see they have a deli and cafe over the road which I'll definitely be visiting in the next couple of weeks! Do pop in - delight is guaranteed!

Delicious food, warm welcome from the staff and lovely atmosphere. My wife and I shared a burrata with roasted courgettes as the starter. She had a risotto for main and I had a calzone - everything was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. It was a pleasure going here and their deli across the street does fantastic cannoli! Highly recommended.

This seemed a fairly nice place with good staff. The coffee was rather bland however. At least they take cash, none of the "card only" snobbery you get in some well to do places. It was quite popular and the food looked nicely presented.

Not a good experience as the other reviews. Had a table outside for dinner. We had: Olives Bruschetta Caprese Salad Veal Milanese Sea Bass Was quite disappointed with overall taste of the food. Not overly seasoned, no depth and quite plain. For example, the bruschetta was missing garlic, the tomatoes had no flavour and no seasoning. The veal breadcrumb was unseasoned, just plain breadcrumb and the tomatoe sauce to go with the spaghetti was bland. The waitress was very attentive and welcoming. I wouldn't come back as it was expensive for a bland meal.

Had a wonderful evening outside at Nino's on a warm summer's night. Staff were very friendly and particularly helpful with our friend's baby who made quite the mess! Food was incredible. The true heart of the village.

My wife and I absolutely loved this restaurant. All tables were taken which created a lively atmosphere, but the service was still attentive and friendly. The food was great and very fair value. We really couldn't rate it high enough and just wish we lived closer, so we could be regulars.

Booked last minute for a table for 4 for a friends birthday on a Saturday evening and thanks to a last minute cancellation managed to secure a booking. Food was absolutely amazing - 3 of our party had steak which was delicious and beautifully cooked. The sea bass was perfect and along with the sides and fab cocktails - Ninos as usual lived up to expectation. Nino & his team were discreetly attentive, timings were just right and the atmosphere- as usual - friendly and fun! Can’t wait to go back….thank you Nino! X

Lovely family run Italian trattoria . I came here for a early dinner with my daughter. We hadn’t booked a table, but they squeezed us in. We shared a bruschetta for our starter and we both went for pasta dishes. My daughter had the carbonara and I had rigatoni with a spicy sausage sauce. The food was lovely as was our waitress Alicia. We have been coming here for years. We think the food and wine just get better year on year. It’s so comforting to be served food by people who we look at as friends. There’s love there. Considering the difficult circumstances, we managed to get a table for 2 on a Saturday evening, warm welcome and delicious food. Very attentive staff and super cosy atmosphere. Partner and I had main course, bottle of wine and dessert to share which came to £50 which is amazing as the food and service was perfect. Would absolutely recommend to friends and family and will definitely go back to taste more of the dishes. Nino himself also had a chat with us which I really appreciated, lovely place.

We’ve been going to Nino’s for years and have NEVER been disappointed by our meal: everything is freshly and beautifully cooked (it’s one of the very few places I am confident to eat shellfish!) and the menu is exactly the right size - plenty of choice without being overwhelming, as so many places are. Since the Covid problem, Nino has managed to keep the cosy trattoria feeling by dividing the tables from one another with screens and wood effect screening, which does the job beautifully and without feeling claustrophobic. What’s more, he and his staff wear masks/visors, which is reassuring and courteous to their customers - unlike several places we’ve been to lately where the waiting staff wore neither and were happy to lean across us in unnerving fashion. Nino’s is the best Italian restaurant for us and for many we know - a credit to Nino himself, his staff and to Pangbourne.

To start I will touch on how well Nino’s are dealing with COVID. This is by far the best restaurant I have been too during the pandemic in terms of being COVID safe. Upon arrival, you wait outside to be shown to your table. There is hand sanitiser by the door, as well as on every single table. Each waiter/ waitress are wearing a visor. Menus have been changed, they’re now plastic and are wiped after every use. There are also large screens in between every single table, which not only prevent spread but also makes it feel more private and quiet in your own table. The toilets have a light system to signal when they are in use or unoccupied. In terms of food, I can never fault Nino’s. For my starter I had the meatballs (polpette). The portion was massive (which is always a bonus) and it was brilliant. It’s worth mentioning that every portion was a very good size, but if you have a small appetite it is possible to order small portions. For main I had the chicken leg in a white wine sauce. The chicken fell off the bone and overall was a very nice dish. One of my family members had the veal main (not the Milanese) and that was even better. Overall I couldn’t fault the food at all. The service was attentive and friendly as always. We have very specific needs as a family, with two of us being gluten intolerant and another two lactose intolerant. However they’re always happy to change the dishes to suit us. In summary, if you’re concerned about COVID and want to visit somewhere that follows the regulations, is concerned with their customers safety, has great food and friendly service, this is a great place to go.

We only stopped for coffee on a sunny morning to enjoy the small outside area.However, I was struck by the work the 2 staff were doing on the plastic menus. The menus were being sanitised sprayed and wiped. But this wasn't just waving a cloth around in a cursory fashion. This was a comprehensive spraying with an energetic rubbing. Real hard and conscientious work which indicates how seriously this business takes its responsibilities to everyone.It was reassuring to see, and I will return with confidence to dine, etc. Many thanks to all at Ninos.

We visited with our children last week and the food was absolutely delicious and service equally as lovely. Covid mesures have been taken very seriously with partitions put up between tables. The whole experience was safe, family friendly and delicious.I last remember visiting Ninos with my grandparents in Reading when I was younger. Pleased to say it was equally lovely as it was then.

This is one of our favourite restaurants. Last Saturday evening was the first time we had visited since they re-opened after lockdown, and we felt really happy with the precautions that are in place re Covid. The tables are well placed, and they have put transparent-topped screens in place between tables that don't interfere too much with the ambience. Staff as welcoming and friendly as we have come to expect, and food as good as ever.

My first meal at Nino’s was not a disappointment in the slightest. The food was incredible, it was so easy to tell how fresh it was and the garlic butter dip was outstanding. I will definitely be returning very soon.

After a couple of drinks in a friends' garden, the intention had been to pop out to get some fish and chips. However seeing that Nino's was open again my friends and I stopped here instead. We were glad we did. In the distant pre-lockdown days I'd heard good things about it but never been. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The whole social distance / covid set up was very good. The food (we all had pasta dishes) was excellent and the house white was certainly very drinkable. Coffees, limoncellos all good too. Definitely the right decision to stop by. Recommended.

Our last meal "out" had been on the Island of Fuerteventura on 14th March, the day before Spain went into Lock Down. We were lucky as we flew back on schedule the next day. It's been a long 145 days. The Current Mrs C. is a front line nurse for the NHS and I had to keep my head down due to having a slightly weakened immune system. When the UK Restaurants opened up a few weeks ago we thought long and hard about going out and decided that we didn't really want to take the risk, having been through so much to get this far. When I read that Nino's was reopening that caution went out of the window & I was on the phone straight away to get a table booked. Nino had been open for essential supplies and take away pizza throughout Lock Down, he'd also gone beyond the call by delivering supplies to the local area. I'd dropped in a couple of times to get a coffee whilst walking Neville along the banks of the Thames (Nev is a dog, in case you were concerned!). Mrs C. had picked up a couple of Pizza's as well to save me cooking every night. Each time we'd have a quick chat (Socially Distanced) with Nino about the future, and each time we were impressed by the planning and precautions he was taking to protect not only his customers, but his staff too. So, we felt safe that when he opened again it would be a safe place for us to visit.It was a beautiful evening so we took a romantic walk along the river before making our way up to the restaurant. It was just like coming home after a long trip away. We were greeted by Nino with a smile behind his face shield, no usual handshake or hug, but we all know why. Tables now have clear screens separating each other, so you sit in your own little booth. Menu's now instead of being paper are laminated.................. other than that it's business as usual. (Oh apart from Nino now looking like an extra from Pirates of the Caribbean) We shared a starter of fried calamari, prawn and white bait, lovely. Mrs C. had the seafood tagliatelle, went for a small portion of carbonara. The pudding menu is still awaiting lamination, so the waitress reels off what's on offer, we stopped when she got to the lemon creamy things and ordered one to share. I'm so pleased that Nino has managed to find a way to reopen and wish him all the best going forward. We'll be back as often as we can. Neville is looking forward to an alfresco lunch in the next couple of weeks too. Support your local business' if you can.
