Nikoz Greek & Mediterranean Restaurant in Wakefield

We've been here on several occasions for family celebrations and it's always been excellent. The staff are all lovely, friendly and helpful. This time it was just the 2 of us for our 55th wedding anniversary meal. We chose from the set menu - bruschetta and chicken souvlaki for me and keftedes and pork souvlaki for my husband. The service was really good and the food was first class.

We've been a few times to nikos and never been disappointed from walking in the door to leaving its friendly service great food . Great atmosphere the restaurant is all greek colours with a lovely greek church painted on the wall .last time we went for my 60th food was spot on kleftico melted in your mouth .stifado and seabass was also enjoyable by my family. At the end of the meal the greek music playing in the background turned to birthday song nikos spinning plates and a party hat and glasses appeared .followed by a complimentary shot .definitely would recommend

Looking for a good Greek restaurant near Leeds we found this with good reviews and were really excited to try it. Sadly the food did not live up to the previous reviews. The service was pleasant and the restaurant looked typically okay. We opted for the meze (expecting to be out faced with food as we don't eat a lot) however we thought it would give us chance to try different dishes. How wrong we were. The starters were okay but very meagre portions. However, the main courses were dreadful. The chicken was dry and overcooked and the lamb and beef dishes were just unpleasant. We have had many Greek meze meals in the past and this has to be the absolute worst. What a total disappointment and waste of money. Definitely would not recommend this place.

Beautiful food, and fabulous service. Quiet, as expected on a Tuesday night. But defo recommend and will be back for sure. Thank you.

We have been visiting this restaurant for a few years now and every single meal has been excellent. The moussaka is especially delicious. The chef is excellent. Family owned business, with the owners being very friendly and welcoming.

Been going to this place for a long time and the food, atmosphere and service has been fantastic every single time.

We were staying at a nearby hotel which didn't serve food on Sunday evenings so asked for a recommendation from the hotel staff, glad we did - they suggested this little place. Because the weather was nice we decided to order take out and eat it back at our hotel room which had access to a little patio. The lovely lady taking the order was very helpful and friendly, the food was super fresh and the portions were large. Best carry out we've had in a long time, highly recommend!

Me and my wife decided to give the place a try on our anniversary due to fond memories of a visit some years ago. It didn’t disappoint, lovely staff, amazing food. We had the meze deal and all dishes were tasty and fresh, finished with a super tasty dessert. We hope to visit again soon. Thanks again.

Ordered from the set menu, thought it would be same size mains as the main menu. Disappointed with the portion size of the chicken souvlaki - only 1 skewer whereas all the photos I have seen show 2 skewers. Plenty of rice and pitta (although I could do that at home.) I think the restaurant could make this smaller portion size explicit on their website or at the point of ordering. Spanakopita tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave which made the pastry a bit hard and rubbery.

We have lived opposite this restaurant since September and finally got round to trying it with my grandparents this week. We will definitely be going back! The owner is lovely, friendly, welcoming and can’t do enough to help you. The interior, atmosphere and menu are very authentically Greek and the food is delicious with generous portions. They catered very well for vegans too. Highly recommend this gorgeous family business :)

Visited with a team of (old!) hockey players the night before a national tournament at Wakefield Hockey club. We had 2 great large tables and were hugely warmly welcomed. One table had the Mezze and the others chose starters and mains. Food was fantastic across...

First time we have visited Niko's Restaurant and it certainly won't be the last. Absolutely gorgeous, everything was brilliant. Tasty, fresh food, polite service and lovely surroundings. What more could you ask for.

On entering Nikos, you simply could be in Greece! The restaurant is draped in blue and white, and with traditional Greek music being played, we couldn’t wait to sample their fayre.The menu was extensive ( maybe too much ) and the wine list a little sparse.We took the cowards way out and ordered the meze for two people @ £27.95 per person.This included, pitta bread and dips, four starters, four mains, a Greek salad, and dessert.There was ample food and it was all tasty except the souvlaki which was dry.We went for the traditional Greek rose, which was also delicious.The staff were pleasant and courteous, and the restaurant looked extremely well maintained.I would have no hesitation in recommending Nikos for that authentic Greek night out!

Our party of 10 had another great night. All of us ordered different starters and mains and desserts everyone enjoyed their meals. Always come here for our special occasions .,Never disappointed. Great food, great staff highly recommended 👌

Another happy visit to this lovely Greek restaurant. The reason for its popularity is because it is family owned and run. The food is freshly cooked to order and never disappoints.

Truly disappointed with our meals this evening. Maybe expecting too much but the moussaka was poor. One small slice of aubergine in each serving, the rest was sliced potato, very dry too.

We sat down and ordered. The decor looked tired and dated, however the service was prompt and courteous. The starter, mussells in sauce. The taste was simply awful, frozen mussels and a sauce that looked like a tin of toms had been heated and thrown onto pitifully small frozen mussels. If mussels are not available fresh the dish should be taken off the menu.The olives were small, cheap and not what I would remotely consider restaurant quality, you would get better in a cheap jar from Tesco. The pitta bread was black, yes burnt to a crisp and actually black. Even the coke tasted like cheap cola. At this point I cancelled our mains and asked to pay for what we had ordered so far. The chef did apologise but I fear he would not have been able to change a very poor perception of what I feel is a poor restaurant.

Nikos Never fails to deliver. Packed full of wonderful flavours the food is incredible. Starters, mains and desserts all arrived in wonderful time. We brought our 9week old daughter with us and she was made to feel very welcome and they all checked in with her too. Highly recommended the beef stiffado! The lemon cheesecake was to die for also! We couldn't have wanted a better experience again. Will continue to indulge in the food in this incredible little restaurant

My wife and I visited on Friday 15th October for an early evening meal and had our usual friendly welcome. The food was excellent and the young serving staff were also excellent. This is our favourite restaurant and we will be back in the very near future.John & Frances

Very nice food. Very nice atmosphere. We had a 3 set course meze meal, which was a very nice value and the owner was very nice too.

My wife and I headed here for our anniversary and it was brilliant. The decor is lovely along with nice polite service. The food is really tasty, we chose the meze which was packed with flavour and plentiful. We will be definitely heating back here and be telling friends about this place.

Greeted with big smiles at the door, warm and comforting. My heavily pregnant fiance was well taken care of. Led to comfy seating. We were both amazingly looked after. Then came the food and drink. Bold and full of flavour. Deep fried brie and garlic mushrooms to start. Stiffado and chicken souvlaki for mains. All incredible and would recommend. We couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere, food and service!.If you haven't tried it yet. I would say go do it!

We had a table booked for Saturday at 6pm the staff are wonderful, fantastic service nothing is too much trouble, a lovely atmosphere with Greek music playing, you easily feel like your abroad, the starters are about £6 and a main meal on average is £14-£18 but I would pay this a thousand times over. The meat was full of flavour and melted in your mouth, the chef is incredible and you can see they have a real talent and passion for food, we enjoyed it so much we went back the next night as we were on holiday and don’t have restaurants like this where we live. They were amazing with our daughter, the restaurant does get loud but this added to the atmosphere, it was just over £70 for 3 of us with mains and a dessert but the food was to die for especially the baklava, it tasted like heaven. Their children’s pizza was huge and was the best my daughter had ever had. If you are in Ossett or staying nearby at Wakefield or anywhere in Yorkshire it’s worth the drive, I can’t recommend this place enough if you want a fantastic meal and service. The best restaurant we have ever been to and we are gutted that we live so many hours away. Efcharisto

To be fair I really should give it 5 it’s that good but it was a one off visit while staying in the town and consequently am not able to judge its consistency. Owner present on a Sunday evening, steady business (on what is often a quiet session) so the locals appreciate it. If I was a local I’d be a regular

We enjoyed a fabulous evening at Nikos on Saturday. We love the delicious food, the atmosphere and, especially now the restaurant has been refurbished, it feels just like being in Greece. Everyone always wears a smile and you are made to feel very welcome, nothing is too much trouble. We have been many times, as a couple, as a family and, pre covid restrictions, as a large group, each time has been wonderful. Theres lots of choice of food on the menu and specials board, and is always beautifully cooked and presented. Theres a lovely bar area too where you can enjoy a drink before or after your meal if you wish. A wonderful experience, highly recommended.

We rang up last minute to get a table and got one straight away. Nikoz greets you very friendly so are all his staff .the restaurant is like walking into a greek Taverna. Blue and white .the food was absolutely amazing . And even though restaurant was busy we wasn't rushed this is the 3rd time we have been and will definitely go back .

We were taken there to celebrate our fiends birthday. The whole experience was excellent, I find difficult to fault the atmosphere,the service and the food, all of which were top quality. We all had the Crayfish and crab Ravioli which was truly mouth watering, and the sauce was delicious ( it almost made you want to lick the plate clean ). A wonderful meal and a really great evening. Highly recommended

Brilliant to be back at Nikos after lockdown. Lovely warm friendly welcome from all the staff. Food was gorgeous. Calamari, Greek salad and dips to start. I had a lovely homemade moussaka & my partner had the Nikos Chicken Special which he said was delicious. Gorgeous cheesecake to finish. Oh and nice to have the Mythos lager too. We had Pizzas which were beautiful and light, Really tasty 😋 We had the Stiffado too... Absolutely beautiful, tender cuts of beef and lots of it too. Highly recommended 💖

Took father in law for a meal as he was in the area and he loves Greek food. Food was perfect as always and great value as we had it on the two course offer. Service always impeccable.

Excellent restaurant. This was the first time here, the service and food was really good. I had prawn cocktail for starters and the kleftico for mains (the best I’ve had outside Greece) and my husband had garlic mushrooms and chicken souvlaki. Not the cheapest place but you get what you pay for. Will definitely be bac.

Wonderful food in a great atmosphere. Felt safe and secure here under the current circumstances. I had haddock and spring onion fish cakes followed by Crab Meat and Crayfish Ravioli. My husband had Takos followed by the same main course. Great staff. Would definitely recommend.

Ate here with a couple of friends on the "eat out to help out" scheme. It was very busy and shown to a table in the corner. Thank goodness as the middle of the restaurant was hectic and noisy with little kids screaming and running up and down the place. It was after 8pm by this time and the parents did not seem to have control over their kids. Long wait for drinks and meals once we had ordered, and my friend asked several times for water, which never came. I ordered the Stifado which came with 2 small onions and 2 pieces of beef with a very watery gravy, overpowered with too much cinnamon. I have made better myself so was very disappointed. My friend had Lamb Chops which were plentiful and she enjoyed. However, don't think I will visit again.

Wonderful local Greek restaurant, the best restaurant in Ossett for sure, friendly, hard working staff and the owner does everything in his power to provide tip top service. We will return time and time again.

From the Greek music as you enter, to the warmth of the welcome from the Greek staff, to the delicious Greek food served, this restaurant is like a little bit of Greece right here in Ossett. At a time like this, when stealing away on holiday to enjoy the pleasures of life on a Greek island is not so easy, you can have it all here, a little bit of Greece in Ossett! Visited during Aug midweek for the government offer . The restaurant was very Covid safe and staff very nice. The menu had a good selection and the food was ok but nothing special. I had the moussaka and it was quite thick and stodgy not particularly fresh. Can’t complain with 50% off but wouldn’t rush back.

My family and I decided to have a trip to Nikos for something to do and a chance to escape the house for a bit. We booked a table for 8.15 but didn’t get in until at least 8.45. This was due to possibly over booking and the fact a large party were not leaving. When the large party finally left a very apologetic man who I can only assume was “Niko” sat us down and ordered a waiter to come take our orders. The Beer “Mythos” was my choice and was very good, I would recommend to anyone else who wants a good lager. The food came quickly was very tasty and good quality. The only reason this place didn’t get a 5/5 is because of my wait, everything else was very good.

Fantastic food and service. They are all working so hard through COVID. Couldn’t fault any of it. Keep up the good work guys. Superb local business

Visited last Saturday. First time bsck after lock down. Meze for 2 was lovely. Sea bass gorgeous and very generous portion size. Fillet steak stroganof lovely. Staff attentive and friendly. Wearing appropriate PPE. Will be back.

Went to this restaurant last night 12th August, had a fantastic meal staff were extremely good and helpful considering the heat and amount of customers. Would recommend this restaurant to any of my colleagues in the area. Thanks for a great evening.

Iv experienced rude behaviour before in this restaurant, this time was beyond belief, extremely aggressive behaviour from the owner, when asked about our starters it was mentioned the Greek salad didn’t have a lot of feta in, only 6 small cubes, he then went onto rant we should have ordered extra feta, at this point he removed his face shield and began an extremely loud rant of how the menu had it on, etc etc. So rude, I decided I wasn’t prepared to be spoken to In that manner, our group left the establishment after paying for the drinks we received and extra money was left, the starters were poor quality, the restaurant was lucky we paid for anything to be honest. Owner loud, rude, sweaty, aggressive!

First visit since lockdown was lifted. Very professional in their approach to the safety measures and we didn’t feel in any way feel unsafe or worried. Food was excellent, wine was spot on. We will be definitely returning soon .

Visited here this week for the first time, absolutely loved it. It was between a few restaurants to visit but I’m glad we decided this one. The food was delicious and mouth watering for sure. The 2 course meal deal is great value, we will be back for sure!!

Visited for the first time this weekend and I am struggling to understand how this restaurant has so many good reviews. There was nothing special about the food. I love Greek food but it felt like the chef had fallen out of love with it!No flavour to the brushetta or meatball starters. The lamb in the fleftiko was cooked well and plentiful but the sauce was lemon and water. The roast potatoes were all burnt black. £16 for lamb in water and a few black roast potatoes (no veg) was disappointing and poor value for money.Service was slow although restaurant was half empty. Sadly won't be returning.

Just moved into the area and fancied exploring the local restaurants .So glad we chose Nikos.Very friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. The food was very authentic, traditional Greek music in the background, excellent wine and food , if I shut my eyes I can almost imagine myself been back in Crete . Fantastic. We will definitely be back.

Lovely welcome from the staff immediately on entering. Very attentive. Atmosphere really nice, cosy. Food is excellent. 6 of us and 3 had the mezze. Great value for money and excellent food. The rest are from the fab specials board. If you haven't tried Nikos then you really should. One of the best restaurants in the area. Highly recommend.

Staying nearby popped in ordered the meze £25 each. Food was plentiful and of good quality staff friendly and courteous.

This is not fine dining and is not trying to be. Just good quality Greek and Med food, served well in a pleasant environment

Visited 17th January for my Birthday. We were made to feel welcome as always. The food was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The owner and his staff are a credit to the restaurant with nothing being too much trouble.

We live in a Bradford and were invited to a family meal here. The staff were friendly and helpful .the food was fantastic and excellent value for money . We will definitely returning here .

Had a fabulous early evening Birthday Celebration with family. Food was excellent and plenty of choice. The Owner and staff were very welcoming and made us feel special. Would recommend couples, celebration events and families with young children. After our meal the Greek music was playing and the Owner welcomed us to dance the Greek Sartaki (as in Zorba the Greek film) Took videos of the adults and children, which will be treasured by us. Would definitely recommend . Prices were good value for money

Been here a handful of times now. Service is amazing. Food has a great selection for all budgets. Set menu is a bargain ,but look a little further gives you amazing choices. Great price and super friendly. One of our fave eatery's.

We live locally and this is the third celebration meal we have eaten at Nikos. There was 19 of us including 5 children so we were having a family get to together before Christmas. As we were such a large party we were asked to submit our choices from the menu about a week before. We were shown to our tables and the food arrived exactly as ordered. It was superb and the waiting staff were helpful and friendly. The owner even had time to entertain the kids even though they were very busy as it was a Saturday night. Lovely evening thoroughly enjoyed by all of us.

Visited for the first time recently and had a most enjoyable visit. Massive menu to choose from and also meze sharing platters too. All courses were lovely and the staff are super and so friendly. They just want you to have a great visit and enjoy yourselves.

Visited on a Wednesday night after a recommendation from a fellow Greek who eats at said restaurant regularly. We were not dissappointed, something for everyone including a vegetarian in our party. The Meze was amazing and fantastic value...very reasonable prices and a lovely atmosphere for midweek. Nice background music as well. Fab food served by lovely people.

We have just visited this restaurant for the first time and we would highly recommend it. The staff are very friendly and welcoming the food was amazing the meatballs were the best i have ever tasted and I have tried many in different restaurants. We ate off the £12.95 2 course deal and it had many different options. We will defiantly return soon.

Have been here a lot at a weekend but came midweek this time and took advantage of the two course offer- brilliant value, food all hot, fresh and tasty with plenty of flavour and service second to none, waiter attentive but not too full on and Niko and his wife are the perfect hosts. Boyfriend was extremely impressed and he doesn’t always like my choice of restaurant and he’s already talking about going back so that’s a big win!

The main menu and due to having such a large choice it’s a no brainier to order from this set menu. The starter and main course was perfect. Nice restaurant and even though there are two restaurant nearer to where we live is the only Greek restaurant that we visit. Highly recommend

I love Greek food and so glad we have this in Ossett. Food is always fab, a little more pricey then other places in Ossett. Service is always amazing!

We visited Nikos today on the spur of the moment, for a family lunch. From the first second, we were made to feel extremely welcome, and my 5 year old daughter was made at ease by the friendly staff.

The food was ok and good value, what made the experience better was the service, which was exceptional.
