Nico's Caffe Pizzeria Grill in Ballymoney

Stumbled across their sign outside and went in for a coffee. Very pleasant, clean and welcoming. I added today’s cheesecake to my coffee.. very naughty!! Very nice too.

Met with a friend for lunch on Thursday. When we entered, we were told to pick where we wanted to sit. This immediately made me feel at ease as the girl was so friendly. Sat at our table and had a scan of the menu. To say the menu was a lunchtime menu is an understatement. It was full of 'homemade' dishes. Ordered lasagne and garlic fries. Once the food arrived, I was in shock at how big the portions were. Side salad, or as they call it garnish, was amazing. Lasagne was definitely homemade, as were the fries. Brilliant food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. If I could give 10/10, I would. Definitely will return for more of the same. 5 🌟

Family meal for four during Easter holidays. Now I am here reasonably regularly for lunch, but this was the first time for an evening meal in quite some time. Being a Monday night it was a bit quiet, but as ever the food was fabulous. We had a chicken stack, fish, mixed grill and honey chilli chicken. It was all freshly prepared and excellent. As this restaurant is unlicensed we were able to bring our own wine which suits us well. If you like good quality fresh food (and a generous helping) this is the place!

Recently I dined with my good friend Jean. As it was the month of December we took advantage of their Christmas Lunch menu and we both opted for the Loaded Christmas Fries. What a delight that turned out to be! Skinny fires with Turkey, Ham, Stuffing, Sausages, covered with gravy and cranberry on the side. Simply awesome.

Late lunch for a group of (19) hungry motorcyclists. As expected it was great. Service was quick and friendly and the food was excellent. Everyone commented on the quality of their lunch and at the end there were 19 empty plates! Thank you to all at Nico’s

Visited here twice within a few weeks. First time food was OK standard, but service was extremely slow - like ridiculously slow! We overheard others complaining about same thing and suggesting they might leave because no sign of their food, so obviously not just us. We did order two separate burger meals for the kids, but were presented with (what we were told) was an adult burger cut in half. Not really what we expect given kids meals are £5.95 each. We tried again to give benefit of doubt. This time service was much better, but food very poor. One of us ordered chilli chicken penne pasta, with garlic bread. Dish was served in good time, but had no chicken (yes - just pasta and sauce!). Garlic bread was slightly burnt and appeared to have no garlic taste at all. By time we were asked if everything was ok, it was too late. It was suggested that chicken could be added at that point - but honestly, that is just not sensible at all, pasta was going cold and we had eaten at least half whilst digging around looking for some chicken! Like what decent place would ever suggest to do that - here's a side of chicken to go with already eaten pasta! We expected an apology/compensation, considering most important part of meal was missing - we got a miserly £3 reduction from the bill. A gesture so tiny they needn’t have bothered, and just showed how uninterested they were on the issue. Pasta and sauce themselves were not great in any case, lumpy sauce that had no real taste. I’m not into leaving poor reviews, but problems twice in quick succession is just not good enough. Prices here are also on the high side in comparison to other establishments close by, so really would expect higher quality and better service. Do yourself a favor and try other places in the area.

Great meal with family today. Food was superb and came in a timely manner. Waitresses were also very attentive. Thank you.

Stopped here for breakfast. Do not let the drive in put you off, the restaurant is lovely! Great options on the menu. I had the French toast served with bacon and fresh berries. Really large portion and delicious. The staff were also very accommodating and happy for my partner to add items on to his breakfast. Will definitely be back soon.

My wife wanted to take me here for lunch one Saturday afternoon, their opening hours state on their website, and on social media 9:30am - 9:00pm - we arrived at 10am only to be told they were closed and wouldn’t be opening until later. Fast forward a week, one evening we were out for a walk and fancied a little treat, so walked around to visit Nicos at 7:45pm (as we assumed they’d be open to 9:30pm as illustrated online), only to walk in and find out they closed early and they weren’t going to serve us. My advice would be, communicate to your audience if you are opening late or closing early to save disappointment upon arrival - it would go a long way.Won’t be back.

The menu had something for everyone, as a picky piscitarian I was pleasantly surprised at how much I had to choose from. The quality of the food ( as well as the srevice) was exceptional. Very reasonable too

The food was nicely presented cooked as we had asked for .The sun was shining so we eat outside in the beer garden it was like being on holiday just lovely .The waitress was very helpful and attentive food arrived about 20-25 mins after we had ordered so no long waiting time .

Had lunch on Tuesday and food was very nice. The staff were friendly and the seating areas are roomy. Big portions and well presented.

This place was highly recommended to us ! Unfortunately this was not the way we experienced it ! The chips were hard in the middle and burnt outside ! Burger was very tough and salad was not fresh ! My clothes smelt of stale cooking even though I only went in to order a takeaway ! The place itself smelt musty ! I certainly won't be back in a hurry ! Very bad experience ! Sorry

Called in for lunch. Safety measures in place, staff all wearing masks, sanitizers available, names & contact details recorded. Friendly staff and delicious food. I had Chicken Goujons, crunchy coating, moist chicken and garlic fries, salad, all delicious. My Mum thoroughly enjoyed her choice and both were huge portions. Homemade traditional desserts and coffee to round of a very enjoyable treat. Have no hesitation in recommending. Well done to all the staff for safety measures and delicious food.

First impressions weren't great, oitside appearance is rugged.. a bit run down looking. But willing to give it a go as reviews were good. Firstly no evening menus were ready yet apartently.. so waitress told us a few things we could order that weren't on the small laminated sheet that was given that had a very limited choice. My husband ordered the chicken Maryland(no price) with a side of chips, my wee son whos 7 ordered a cheeseburger n chips, the burger was minature size inside a small bap & about 10 chips in a basket. He's not the biggest eater & we had to give him some food off our plates to help fill him up. No drink included or desert for £5.95. I ordered honey chilli chicken. Drinks were 3 cans served on a tray that was left on our table and not lifted away. The cokes were out of a multi pack not to be sold separately also. Asked for ketchup which was an old heinz bottle with label took off that needed a good clean also. Chips were served in a basket with no plate. When i went to pay total was £35.60. A bit shocked so asked and was told main dishes don't include side order they are extra. So my husbands chicken maryland was £10.95 which didnt include a side. The kids meal wasnt enough & my meal was just about passable. Now for that price you'd expect nice surroundings accompanied by nice food but neither was the case. You are eating in ballybrakes business park.. in what looks like a rundown business unit that looks like it needs alot of attention. No blue rool in toilet. For drying hands & floor also needed a good clean. Overall will not be returning and would not recommend. Id much rather spend my money somewhere more worthy to be quite honest.

Tucked away at the back of a business park is the delightful Nico's. It was too chilly for us to enjoy the beautiful deck area but we will be back. We only had teas, coffees and homemade banana bread but the portions were a good size, tea was plenty and everything was delicious.

Food was top notch. Never thought I'd recommend goujons but ask for kickin goujons (secret recipe). It has a really cozy relaxed environment you could sit in all day. Brilliant hidden gem

Took a couple of friends in for coffee and light snacks and found it to be generally not clean, it smelled slightly also. Our snacks came to the table cold and coffee taste terrible. Staff didnt seem to care when we raised such matters.

We've eaten here several times. Breakfast is brilliant, perfectly cooked and piping hot. Love the pancakes especially. Lunchtime was also really tasty. Staff are friendly and helpful. They're there when you need but not pushy at all. Will definitely be checking out the evening menu soon.

Went for a friends birthday, children and adults. What a fantastic restaurant for familys, excellent fresh home cooked food, laid back atmosphere, brilliant value for money, just loved it and will be back!! Snooker tables out the back as well

Been twice for breakfasts and both times I found the service excellent and the food very good. Can't comment on other food options yet but I'm working on it.Hidden away behind an industrial estate on Ballybrakes Rd, Ballymoney, Co. Antrim, but locally very well known.

Went into Nicos today for lunch. We were taken to our table and got our drinks. While we waited for our food the memories came flooding back to our school days with the choice of music that was being played. We ordered toasted wraps and homemade chips. I can honestly say that I had thee best wrap. It was beautiful. As for the homemade chip... these were indeed homemade. Yes it was quiet but that just gave us a chance to sit and enjoy our food and surroundings. The fella that was serving us was very polite and attentive. Nothing was a problem for him. We will most definitely be back.

Ate here for brunch with friends,delicious food,quiet calm atmosphere where we could have a conversation without noise,like some well known coffee shops. Nicola was so friendly.We will definately return

Nico fue altamente recomendado para nosotros y así aparecimos en Semana Santa. Hamburguesa de pollo y fueron ordenados y Gougons no me decepcionó. Mi americano era muy bueno también.Poco de reforma en marcha, agradable charlando con el dueño, y seguimos su Nichola recomendación para las comidas populares. No me puedo quejar de cualquier parte de la comida o el servicio, de hecho recomendaría también. Sin duda volveremos a probar otras comidas cuando estamos al lado del norte.

Been to this little gem loads of times, everytime always best of service, and the food is out of this world, the meat isnt cheap, its from one of the top butchers, it is worth the extra few pence,

Had booked a friday night meal for 4 plus 2 children for my son's birthday. Worst mistake I ever made. Nico's gets average reviews on FB and had seemed to have upgraded themselves since early last year when I had misfortune to be in it. 3 other customers in on a Friday at 6-7pm serving staff rude long wait 15 mins after ordering meals still hadnt arrived kids meals eventually arrived I small scoop of mash potato 2 "value" fish fingers and a tablespoon of beans all which were only luke warm followed by a small scoop of ice cream and a couple of mini mallows £5.95 for this oh and a small glass of coloured water must have been about a couple of drops of juice in it. Kids had theirs in them and were on ice cream before my son and his girlfriend were served my other daughter and I had to sit and wait and wait finally our meals came. Son had ordered sweet chilli chips got served sweet potato chips which non of us like girlfriend pointed it out server refused to change it and we were told "tough" were busy. (Us 4 adults and 2 kids and 1 other couple and a single person grand total of 7 in all.Busy!!!!. Meals were over priced and burger was cold by time it arrived and garlic fries were cubes of potatoes with bowl half full of pure oil which soaked everything when tipped not a hint of garlic either. Sons's girlfriend complained staff not interested cost us over £60 ruined sons birthday would have had a far better meal at 1/3 of the price out of the local chinese at least that would have been edible. Birthday celebration utterly destroyed. Never ever would I return and if that is what fb patrons call good food I dont know. It is an embarrassment to Ballymoney. Dark dismal and definitely not clean

Fantastic food,service and atmosphere. More restaurants would do well to spend a day with the owner Nicola and her staff to see how to look after their customers !!!

First visit to a place I'd seen on FB a few times and planned to visit. Bizarrely it's to the rear of an industrial estate, but this is definitely a place that deserves a visit. Ordered a Burger (which can so easily be destroyed), couldn't...

This is a few times I have been hear and to be fair it will be the last we arrived...

Just ok,the food is nice enough I guess,chippy food,Hate the fact that the food comes on wooden chopping boards (there is a reason health and safety do not pass them for use in a kitchen it's called bacteria and wooden chopping boards are a breeding ground for it)so seeing my food arrive on it does not fill me with the want to eat it,But the food looked nice,My meal was returned untouched so clearly there was a problem but no staff member took this under there notice and happily took my money,The place it rather cold and the table still had salt on it from the people before us which I wiped clean with my hand as the owner/chef that took our order cleanly wasn't interest in doing,Don't think i'll be in a rush to return.

14 cyclists descended on this Cafe and they were very accommodating. It's oddly situated in an industrial estate but don't let this put you off. The food was good, the service was very good and prices were reasonable.

14 of us had lunch here and were a bit unsure by the location inAn industrial park however the welcome was great, the food fantastic and it was perfect for our needs. Not the place for a romantic dinner for 2 but would recommend Nicos anytime.

6 of us arrived for our tea. First impressions my daughters book stuck to the table it was so dirty. Came to take our order and the waitress lifted a chip off the floor, set it on our table, took order and walked off! At this stage I was fuming! 30 mins later the food arrives. Bland! No other word to describe the food. We got a doggie bag and they had the majority of our meals. Overpriced for the quality of food received! Toilets disgusting! Will not be back!

Food first class, service excellent. Not to expensive. Can take own wine. Only £2 corkage. Will definitely be back.Music playing was great as well.

This is a true gem in Ballymoney. Home produce freshly cooked , friendly staff. My son had a delicious burger and I had crunchy Chicken with sweet potato fries. My daughter in law had Chilli Chicken delicious. It is not to be missed and good value for good food.

I was recommended Nico's and I was very glad as it wouldn't have been somewhere that I would have tried otherwise.Located in the Ballybrakes Industrial estate, it's slightly out of the way but there is free parking outside the restaurant and it's rare that it gets too busy that you can't find somewhere close by to park.The menu is fairly varied with quite a few vegetarian options. To be honest, there are a limited choice if you are dieting, although there are salads and other slimming specials on the menu.Everything is cooked fresh to order and although there is a wait on your food, when it does arrive, it's worth it. The monster burgers with pulled chicken are fantastic value and very tasty. All of the burgers that I have tried have been huge and the sides are really nice as well.I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relatively cheap but tasty meal in Ballymoney.

Terrible food, homemade chips were brown on the outside and still hard inside, tasted like the oil hadn't been changed in a long time Chicken fillet burger wasn't even a full fillet but instead was made up of two smaller bits of chicken

I love this restaurant! We went with our 3 year old and 7 week old baby. Nicola made us feel very welcome and brought toys over to entertain our toddler. Good menu, freshly made food and good prices. Since then we had our baby's Christening party here - a hot and cold buffet for 28 - went very well! Would recommend to anyone.

Been here a few times cannot fault the burgers always excellent standard of fresh food and presentation, staff very polite and friendly with great atmosphere, cleanliness of the restaurant is always at a high standard . Would highly recommend.

Not the place for those on a diet or watching fat intake. Very typical American diner type place Everything was tasty and well cooked but most things are fried!!!and portions were huge!, desserts were ok Friendly staff although not wearing uniform , Cook was out on the floor and clothes were stained with oil etc. don't think she wore apron for cooking not the best look. No lighting outside so difficult to watch footing across carpark.

the only reason I have eaten here was with 2 birthday parties which I was totally loosing the plot having to wait at least an hour on both occasions to receive the food I ordered . The building is freezing, don't think there is any heating and I think it's the owner that does all the cooking herself, so no professional chef here. The honey chilli chicken I ordered came out only as battered chicken bites with chilli sauce drizzled on them at 5.95 I had to order a side which cost extra . The standards are so poor even though the staff are friendly enough it's not good enough , to be honest the setting in ballybrakes suits this place as it would be the sort of place lorry drivers would only be to happy to eat in . The milk came in tiny bottles for the tea and it was all curdled! I will never eat in this place again.

1st time visit and wasn't disappointed Will be back. Well pleased reasonably priced and well presented. Very clean and well laid out. Takes a little longer for orders but the staff member said all food is prepared fresh from order.

Very very slow service and it wasn't busy another table of 4 and took 30 minutes for our food to cone out. Food was ok won't be rushing back!

Went for a Sunday lunch after having heard so many good reports.I had the burger with peppered sauce and spicy wedges while my wife had the chilli pasta. The children had sausages and skinny fries and fish fingers and mash.There was no complaints from anyone although my wife thought hers could have been more hotter (as in chilli hot).We followed this with dessert.All in all we were very well fed.My only complaint would be that it was not possible to pay by card and had to go to a local cash machine.

We have eaten here a few times & at different times of the day, on each & every occasion we have had great food & friendly staff, especially Nicola herself, she will go to any lengths to make your meal exactly as you like it,no matter how fussy you are,will def be back!!

If you have time to spare then Nicos is for you the food is great well presented but you will wait for it ,staff are friendly and will bend over backwards to help great menu and good prices ..is well out of the way in at ballybrakes but is well worth a visit remember to take your own bottle as they do not have a drinks licence ,another thing I found was the outside seating was a tad unclean but my 2 girls enjoyed their food and so did I its just the wait maybe an other cook would help .

Nico's is close to my home. I heard good comments about it so decided to try it out one lunch time with my sister. When we arrived we stood for ages before anybody came to see to us. We were about to leave when we got shown to a table. We ordered chilli pasta. Not to long a wait when it arrived the only words I can use is disgusting and tasteless. There was no flavour off it what so ever just plan pasta in some sort of white lumpy sauce. It is a very quiet restaurant so when the waitress asked if everything was ok we didn't complain as all eyes would be on us. We never finished our dish and left. I will never be back. Huge let down

We have eaten here 3 times now and i can say it was some of the nicest food i've had All freshly made when you arrive so you may have to wait a little longer but its well worth it. My most recent visit on Sat 14 june i had a mixed grill with hand cut chips and pepper sauce and it was definately the best mixed grill i have ever had out anywhere - steak/chicken/gammon steak/sausage/bacon - all cooked to perfection and pepper sauce to die for!!!Also try one of their lovely homemade desserts the pavlova is gorgeous (i had it on my 1st visit).Staff are all friendly and the owner Nicola couldn't do enough for you. We had our 8 month old daughter with us and she always chats to her and makes her up a lovely baby bowl of mash and veg.I would highly reccommend Nicos to anyone and everyone and cant wait till my next visit so i can try something different from the great menu.

My boyfriend and I visited here one Sunday to try it out for the first time. The caffe's locality is a bit out of the way (in the middle of a business park) but it's only a short drive from my home, I wouldn't imagine it would be great to walk to but if you have a car then you're fine. I ordered a burger and it was huge in size, but was only fair-to-middling in taste, but I ate it all nonetheless. They make a great latte though and that more than made up for the slightly average burger (Sorry Nico's, I really really wanted to love the great looking burger!). Customers, may I also suggest you order a sauce accompaniment with your meal as things were a bit dry.
