Really love the vibe and atmosphere of this chip shop, definitely try the steak and kidney pie. All the food we ordered was great.

My favourite chippy in Northampton. Love going there, especially on Fridays, for my Chippy Tea.

Nicks plaice is honestly the best fish and chips in northampton!!! Not only is the food amazing -Crispy thin batter and crispy yet fluffy chips - but service was brilliant Nick is so so lovely and while we waited showed us how delicious chips and lemon are together and pineapple fritters dipped in sugar. Will 100% be the chippy I recommend and will continue to go to :)

Nice to have a proper chip shop. No kebabs, just pies, sausages, fish, chips, mushy peas and a really nice chip shop curry sauce.

If you local and plan to go seaside for fish and chips - don't bother. Save yourself travel cost and overpriced fish and visit Nick's Plaice instead. You get the top notch food and friendly service. If it is lunch time and you get special it will be also lighter on your pocket.

Why when you trust these people do they take the p….s and make idiots out of their faithful customers. If I ask for large fish why sneak in a small one. I’ll stick to Birchfield chippy. From now on. That’s what you call large.!!!!!!! Not plugging just comparing.

Best fish and chips in Northampton. Light crispy batter, lovely fresh fish. Won’t go anywhere else. Just wish they didn’t put each piece of fish in a separate box, not very environmental.

The worst, soggiest batter very pale as though only just cooked, no real crisp to the batter! The chips are not proper fish and chip shop chips!!! Not fresh they taste rewarmed! The staff were not very friendly but they was smiley etc if you was male.

Went in tonight for chippy tea ordered large fish and chips mushy peas the chips were ok peas very good but fish utter disappointment hardly any fish seemed too be more batter than fish expect decent fish when you’re paying over 6pounds

Had a delicious Chips and Steak and Kidney Pie - Chips where cooked just right and the Pie was toasty hot. Highly recommended.

First time here to get a takeaway lunch. As always, great fish and chips but the price probably makes them the cheapest for lunch as well as the best quality, and the friendly, helpful, professional staff add to the whole experience. Cheaper than KFC or McDonald's and no hidden weird stuff. Highly recommended and no, sadly, I wasn't paid to write this.

Undeterred by a couple of recent bad reviews, I visited this place last week at around 5.30pm, as I was staying locally with a friend. Ordered a small cod and small chips and have to say that it was the most fresh and best tasting piece of fish I'd had in 5 years. It was cooked to order and the chips were more than acceptable. Despite the "small" portions, they were still of such a size that my friend happily consumed a third of it.

These really are the best fish and chips in Northampton! Friendly staff as well. The portions are large, I couldn't finish the chips. Just found my go to plaice for fish & chips 😜

I can't give a review of the food because it was closed. Sunday is shown as open until 21.00. It was closed at 19.00. Very bad they can't keep their opening hours correct so their food might be as poor.

Chips cooked in with fish and meat so contaminated with animal fat. No vegan options as listed either. Shame as Northampton needs somewhere like veggie corner in Coventry or Milton chippy in Stoke , both have amazing vegan options and vegan food cooked in separate fryers.

Was near by so thought we would try here, amazing fish and chips! The curry sauce was one of the best I’ve ever tried! The fish was very fresh and crispy. Fresh Lemon and tartar sauce available too. One of the best chip shop meals I’ve ever had thank you ☺️

I recently had the pleasure of trying the fish and chips from Nick’s Place in Northampton, and I have to say that it was one of the best I have ever had. The crispy batter was perfectly cooked, and the fish inside was moist and flavorful. The chips were also exceptional, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just the way they should be. If you're ever in Northampton and craving some delicious fish and chips, I highly recommend Nick's Place. You won't be disappointed!

What an amazing PLAICE it was 😂 lovely welcoming tasty food, could smell the freshness of food as well as the hygiene in both the cooking and seating area. Very welcoming staff, warm and very friendly An utter asset to the business I say, good staff bring in more business always. Keep up the good work everyone and Nick our applauses go to the headman for great leadership. Cleanest take away restaurant we have seen in this area that we’ve just moved to, therefore our fish and chips nights are all sorted👏👏

Been here a few times now. Overly Greasy in my opinion. Gravy is cheap granules with no taste and like wallpaper paste. Sorry guys but feel you can improve as there is better places to eat.

Best fish and chips in town. Always good portions, good price and fresh lemon, tartare sauce and choice of beans, mushy peas and curry sauce. This place has been consistently good for years now and so glad we have Nick's place. Staff and Nick are always friendly too.

Very disappointing meal. Chips were overdone and fish not cooked properly. High standard of usual cooking dramatically reduced of late.

I went on Sunday night. Proper thick chips , not swimming in grease , the fish was cooked to order and the quality was spot on big flakes of pure white fish in a crispy batter.

Superb in every way! Fish cooked through as one would expect with beautiful crispy batter alongside fresh chips plus some condiments. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal presented to me on a plate and on the little table in the front of the shop. I would recommend this to anyone / everyone in the Northampton area.

This is the best fish and chips I have had in a very long time! Fish cooked fresh to order and the chips are delicious. Fantastic proper curry sauce as well. If I could give 6 stars I would! Staff are always extremely friendly as well.

Never had a bad takeaway from this place, the chips are always absolutely delicious as is the fish. The tartar sauce and curry sauce are also delicious! Nick and the team are always so friendly and welcoming, another hidden gem in Northampton.

The England vs France game was yet to happen that evening so all to play for, was looking forward to my fish and chips. The fish and chips were much like England that night good but missed the key result. I will support it again but needed slightly better quality to win thr prize.

Used to be brilliant here, but the past few times, the quality of fish has changed, its dry and they cover up the quality with too much batter on the fish. Gave them a few more chances and asked for a ‘freshly cooked’ large piece of fish but they just make out there’s been a mix up and give 2x medium pre cooked fish instead of a fresh large to try to make up for it which doesn’t cut it. Will find another chippy from now on.
