We came for lunch on a Saturday and were taken care of by Jack and Zara. Both of whom were fantastic, they are so friendly and attentive! Now for the food, what can I say apart from absolutely delicious!! The portion size is perfect and everything on the plate had so much flavour. We were also really impressed that the chef had designed a bespoke dessert to suit my mum’s dietary requirements. He even came to check that she was enjoying it which was a lovely touch! This place is truly faultless, the staff are so passionate and always go the extra mile to ensure the guests have the best possible experience! I couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Had friends over from Mallorca that have access to some amazing food so was nervous where to take than - should of been more confident! Absolutely amazing beef, service and atmosphere - I and they have eaten is some great places but without doubt the best food I’ve eaten - full stop!!

Visited Saturday 15th Feb, bringing 2 guests along who had never been before. As we've experiened before, the welcome is warm and friendly. There was a choice of a la carte or the Valentines taster menu (which you ave as a table). We opted for the tester menu and were not disappointed. Everything was made perfectly and looked stunning. The flavours in all dishes were all perfectly balanced, and effort had clearly been made to ensure there were complimentary textures. Service thoughout the meal was excellent; attentive and friendly without being overbearing, and Vicki is always a gracious host & happy to hear feedback. For the first time since going we took drinks & coffee in the lounge, which is a lovely touch to the restaurant & very cosy. As always, we left feeling satisfied, but not stuffed, and that we'd had huge value for money. Not surprisingly, we're really looking forward to going back. Thanks to the whole team for another really lovely evening :-)

We came for a post valentine dinner, all i can say is that from the beginning to the end, the service, food and atmosphere was great, this restaurant is a little gem, i would highly recommend here for a special treat, the staff are really attentive with great knowledge of the dishes being served and the wine list, we will be back.

Came in a few weeks ago with my husband and was absolutely amazing!! The staff were all so polite, especially the waitress who served us although sadly cannot remember her name!! She was so kind and helpful and the food was incredible. Will definitely be going back and wish we lived closer!!!

This is a lovely restaurant run by a small friendly team. There is a small menu with excellent three course choices. The food is so well presented and very tasty. Would certainly recommend and will definitely return. Good cocktails too.

Best dessert I’ve ever had. We are fortunate to have a lot of good restaurants in this region, and this is up there with the very best Michelin starred restaurants. Lovely atmosphere, can’t wait to go back.

Popped here for lunch yesterday, what a little gem. The decor is really simple and quite stunning, nice that you can see up to the kitchen from certain tables. Wine is absolutely outstanding, service very good and the food is brilliant. Extremely good value for money, portions were the perfect size, cooked by a passionate team of chefs who know what they are doing, we will return very soon.

This was our first visit to Next Door but, despite a lovely evening, we may not be back for a while. the restaurant itself is a lovely setting for a meal and had a nice atmosphere. Some of the seating is on wooden benches which are very much in keeping with the building and decor but can be a little uncomfortable for a leisurely meal - cushions would help. The staff were very efficient, friendly and just the right amount of attentive. The food was, mostly, excellent. Our starters (terreine and soup) were very tasty and a resonable size. Our mains (salt cod and beef) were similarly tasty and beautifully presented and the [included] sides of carrots and potatoes were very welcome additions; however, although I felt there was plenty of (excellent) beef, the salt cod was a very samll portion. The big dissapointment came with the dessert; I chose 'The Cheese' which turned out to be a single [not huge] portion of cheese with chutney I can't say the size of the portion impressed (for £7.80) but the real problem was the cheese itself which was the most bland piece of cheese I have eaten in a long time. I am not exaggerating when I say that the extra mature chedder I normally get from the local supermarket for a fraction of the price is infinitely superior. If you are not going to have a selection or a choice, surely you need to make sure it a really good cheese with some flavour.

Dined here with friends to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is charming as are the staff who are very helpful and friendly. The food and wine are excellent. The menu is small but the food is amazing! Well done to the husband and wife team. Carry on with the good work.

This restaurant is a gem in the middle of Frodsham. Worthy of the highest recognition.

Next Door has got pretty much everything you want from a neighbourhood restaurant. An interesting room (the building is a 17th century timber framed one), a warm welcome, good service, a short menu of food you really want to eat and, of course, a kitchen that really knows how to cook it. Yep, pretty much everything. However, it’s not our neighbourhood and we’d never have come across it, without its entry into this year’s Good Food Guide. So, even though it’s a 40 minute schlep down the M56, that entry meant it had to worth a try. And it’s definitely going to be worth future schleps.

Four of us ate here last night and we can't fault the experience. The restaurant is in a lovely old building which has been sympathetically decorated and furnished to provide a warm atmosphere. Service was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Menu choices were fairly limited, four options for each course, but covered all the bases of meat, fish and vegetarian (also gluten free).

Food and service were excellent . Young staff friendly and helpful. Some unusual (good) wines including a Greek white. It was busy so I guess pre booking essential as it is not a huge venue

We ate here yesterday. The food was wonderful. If I have a favourite, it is the great collection of starters - really tasty. The ambience is very welcoming. For years, I have thought that Frodsham needed somewhere really good to eat; it has it now!

So pleased we have Michelin star quality, fine dining in Frodsham. The lambs heart was exquisite and I was not disappointed with the grouse which was a first for me. My partner had the beef which he is still talking about. Great service and simple elegant decor allow the food to speak for itself.

What a magnificent dining experience. The combination of the most flavoursome, innovative dishes with an amazing wine list makes for a spectacular evening. Super staff and chilled red wine. What more can I say?!

Had the most magnificent meal here again. My husband and I have been coming here for the last two years and never been disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious, full of flavour and well seasoned. You never have to reach for the salt and pepper. The manager and waiting on staff are always so professional and attentive. They are always on hand without being too intrusive. As for the last two negative comments. I would live to know where they usually dine. As for comparing the second best restaurant in Cheshire to Artisan Green? Really!!! Two totally different places! Please don't listen to these negative comments that a couple of people have made and come and see for yourself. Amazing restaurant, amazing food and fantastic staff!!!

Food was ok. Lacking of flavour and that wow factor you're supposed to get when coming here. They'll charge you a fortune for tiny portions, very disappointing. Get over to Artisan Green for a filling meal in Frodsham!

I’m a Frodsham native and love everything about it. I was proper excited to try this restaurant for the first time, particularly given the links to Cowards - THE best butchers in the world.

Having heard lots of good things about this restaurant I was excited to visit for the first time. I had the pork medallions for starter. Portion size was fine and the dish itself was ok. I must admit I was slightly disappointed by the lack of flavour and hoped for a tastier main course. I chose the hake and was surprised by the size of the piece of fish for the £17 price. The best part of the meal for me was the accompanying cabbage side dish that was flavoured with caraway - that was delicious.

We dined on Saturday night for my Birthday, with my son and daughter. As on previous visits, the food, wine and service were first class. A beautiful meal, and a very enjoyable evening.

What a treat to have such an excellent dining experience available locally. Wonderful food, staff and decor. Very much looking forward to our next visit.

This is an amazing restaurant, we visited with friends and it was just brilliant. The food and wine was delightful and beautifully presented and the service is excellent. They have managed to pull off the balance of a top end restaurant but maintain a relaxed and lovely atmosphere. One of my friends was coeliac and it was the best restaurant she had been to in terms of her feeling she didn't miss out on anything. Can't wait to go back.

A fabulous little restaurant, everything was spot on, the service is very good, the food was outstanding, and the wine was superb, we had the 3 course lunchtime menu, and it is reasonably well priced, i will look forward to a return visit very soon.

I’ve eaten here several times now and each time it’s been great. The food is fantastic and the service is excellent too. They are always very good at catering for gluten free and also when I was pregnant they adapted the dishes to make sure I could have them too!

Very happy eating here .The food is exquisite,though portions are not massive,however by the end of the meal you will be very happy. The sevice is always very pleasant and the owner is usually on hand to ensure everything is as it should be.

Such a beautiful restaurant with attention to detail. The staff were very friendly, professional and attentive. I went in at lunchtime and was disappointed there were only 3 starters and 3 main courses to choose from. As a vegetarian I only had 1 option, vegetable soup and a ‘cauliflower tart’... (1 small floret on top of a small piece of pastry). Both were tasty but extremely small portions and definitely over priced for a small amount of vegetables.

Beautiful food as always. I hope the photos tell the tale. The bread is a little sensation in itself followed by the starters. I had the salmon and my husband the chicken followed by mains of stone bass on risotto for me and Pork for my husband. I then had the jelly and he the chocolate ganache. We had fabulous cocktails and beer included. All in all a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends. This is THE PLACE for a combination of a friendly welcome, excellent food, and very good service. Vickie offers a warm welcome and is a very knowledgable sommelier. The staff are efficient yet discrete and the food is exceptional - limited menu but all freshly cooked.

Had lunch here on Market day (Thursday), 3 courses £22 excellent value and good choice of wines. Great service, knowledgeable staff, lots of interesting colours, textures & tastes on the plate. Highly recommended.

Ooh this place!!! It was our first time here and we had a fantastic experience. From entering the restaurant to leaving everything was top notch.

I honestly thought about writing a really bad review for completely selfish reasons! The reason being that I wouldn’t want you to book a table here just in case I couldn’t get one!

My expectations were high prior to arrival. The majority of people I had spoken to had been exceptionally complimentary and quick to recommend Next Door as the premier venue in the local vicinity. I was expecting a Gastro pub type vibe with the kind of food that seems commonplace in the new rich vain of Cheshire eateries. To say I was pleasantly surprised was an understatement. This restaurant is a significant cut above and provides a eating experience of which sets it apart. The food is interesting and delicious, presented with plenty of class and originality. However, there two things that complimented the food more the Monkey 47 Gin, rich Malbec and Rum based espresso cocktail I sampled, was the ambience and service. The kind of pretentiousness, that can sometimes accompany fancy fare, does not exist here, just enthusiasm, knowledge and an overwhelming sense of pride in what is being provided. Although all the staff were attentive and efficient, it was Vicki, co-owner and sommelier par excellence, made the evening. The way in which she described the food and then the subsequent options to imbibe left me intrigued and excited to sample. If you are an experienced foodie with a love of fine dining, you should definitely give it a try. However, if you are not, you should still go and allow yourself to be taken on a journey of discovery, in the most delightful, non patronising way. Just let the team do the decision making for you, sit back and enjoy.

We went to this restaurant for the first time last night. I had previously been put off booking as I was told that the portions were small and the prices high. Well what a load of nonsense. The food was amazing, inventive, tasty, high quality and the portions are a really good size.

Popped in on a recommendation from trip advisor and I was not disappointed, the menu was limited but this allows the chef to specialise in fantastic original food, if I was a Michelin appraisers I would be visiting here.

Wow, truly excellent food served with style and panache.

My husband and I, along with another couple, visited on a Saturday evening recently. We were warmly greeted and took a seat in the bar for a drink before eating. Everything was very relaxed and we were not rushed to our table or at any time throughout the evening. The menu was small but perfectly formed. My friend and I had the cigar starter and the men both chose the game pie. We followed this with the beef, hogget and the hake. We all had puddings including gypsy tart and hazelnut praline. All declared delicious.

My husband and I visited on Saturday for the set lunch. We received a warm welcome from smiling hosts and lovely service throughout. The menu is small but perfectly formed and the food was really delicious. Being fed up with all my local over priced restaurants of average quality, this was well worth the hours drive and I would visit again in a heartbeat. Quality food and service, what’s not to love.

We were bitterly disappointed with Next Door. The staff were the best thing about the place. I had a smoked barley cigar & it was tasteless. My husband went for the Seafood stew & it had very little flavour. My hogget was OK.....but v.mean with vegetables. Husband had the baked Hake & wasn't impressed. We shared a dessert (Gypsy pie) whi=ich was passable. I expected an assault on my tastebuds & came away feeling very let down!

Saturday was my fourth visit to this lovely small but perfect restaurant. I have eaten at a lot of places and Next Door is outstanding. Service is lovely and friendly. The menu is always interesting and encourages you to try new things - who knew what hogget was or how delicious! I am not a dessert person, really not at all, but they are so delicious here that I wouldn't miss out. The portions are smaller than in a standard restaurant but the taste leaves you perfectly satisfied and feeling full by the end of the meal. As said before it is a little costly, a treat meal, but the value for money is above and beyond expectations.

Went with friends for lunch. Small menu but really interesting. Food was amazing. Truly the best meal I have had for a long time (including a visit to a restaurant with a Michelin star). The owners went out of their way to accommodate a food allergy. Atmosphere was lovely, service perfect. Difficult to beat this little restaurant in every way.

My wife and I visited with friends and what a fantastic experience. We eat out several times each week and I am so tired of often mediocre experiences, This restaurant is such a refreshing change. The chef obviously knows what he is doing and each dish was served with flair and imagination. The steak was outstanding the family connection with Cowards local butchers who source from Cheshire farms probably a contributory factor, Recommended wines were high quality and excellent and the creative desserts were a nice finish. Increasingly with the proliference of restaurants we are coming to the view that we will eat out less but when we do only visit the best. This is one of them, A great experience so Congratulations to them and so good that it is in Frodsham. If you haven’t been yet you need to do so, when word gets around there will probably be a waiting list

This is by far the best restaurant we have been to. Both the service and food are 5*! (We had the valentines taster menu) We will definitely be back again!

Attended with some friends on their recommendation. It's a small, intimate venue with only 12 tables which of course influences most aspects of the offering.

Last night we travelled from Manchester to visit this little gem of a restaurant. The restaurant itself is beautiful; a fantastic ambience, and really comfortable. The service was efficient with friendly, polite, attentive and well mannered staff. The food was out of this world. The chef should have a Michelin star. It was by far the best restaurant meal that any of us have had in a very long time. Really interesting menu, with all dishes tasting exquisite and made with the freshest of ingredients. This is the restaurant that Frodsham has been crying out for for years. We have already decided when to go back.

Have dined at Next Door previously and enjoyed the evening so much we returned for my birthday.

A last minute decision but so worth while. The mushroom fricasse and liver parfait starters were mouth watering. The beef main course was so tender and tasty. The piece de resistance was the chocolate millieuille with a pairing of Spanish desert wine recommended by Vicki which was sensational. Richard and Vicki have really worked so hard to make dining out a pleasurable and memorable experience.

This was our first visit to the restaurant. We were very impressed with the high standard of the food and drink on offer. The staff were very attentive and Vicki is very knowledgeable about the drinks that suit our tastes. Lovely relaxing atmosphere, we certainly hope to return again very soon

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Next Door a few times now. Each time I go I think that the food, ambience and service can’t improve yet it does. We went for dinner the other night and the food was simply outstanding. Each morsel was delicious. The chef clearly has incredible skill and imagination and this is supported by a front of house team who obviously care passionately about the customer experience. I can’t wait to go again and you should visit soon if you haven’t already.

Went on Friday 21 December with hubby and 2 friends. As others have commented, we couldn’t fault Next Door. We live locally and it’s pleasing to have a local family in their home village succeeding by having developed a fresh and unique dining experience. It’s obvious that much thought has gone into the planning of the restaurant and if our first dining experience is anything to go by, they will be very successful. The food presentation and quality were of the highest standard and the servers were professional, courteous and well trained. Drinks service was imaginative with some lovely mocktails for our non-drinker. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Frodsham is our local village and finally we have a high quality restaurant. The food was superb. Our group of four all had different dishes for starters and mains, and everyone was very happy with the experience. A very special meal, with great service. Pre-booking is advisable.

Frodsham is a small friendly market town which is on the up and Next Door is exactly what it has been crying our for in terms of dining options. Great location, lovely ambience and first class, charming, helpful service.

I took auntie here recently as a birthday treat and we all loved it. The food was both fantastically cooked and beautifully presented. The concise menu shows the quality and we were full but never over faced. Have already rebooked for another family visit in a few weeks time. Just brilliant.

Visited this restaurant quite a while after it had opened - although I had heard pretty good things about it. Frodsham is a small market town and not hugely known for it's fine dining. Booked for dinner and although the menu is quite small, the choices are good. The food is of a very high standard and imaginative - if felt like the chef was really trying - and in my opinion succeeding. Service was also great and prices were in line with the quality. As it's close to where I live, I will definitely be going back and it was great to see a local restaurant producing such high quality food. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is about the only place where we eat out nowadays. Simply amazing, right from the moment you walk through the door. Really friendly and efficient service and outstanding food with a menu that changes weekly.

We were recommended to try this charming restaurant by a friend, and so glad we did. The food was exceptional and service was attentive but not intrusive. My husband has hare and I had cauliflower soup, both beautifully tasty, then grouse wellington and beef. Having read the less favourable reviews, we could not understand how anyone could complain about the position sizes, they were perfect. This really is a very lovely restaurant, beautifully decorated, with great attention to detail, but not at all pretentious. Will be hopefully returning soon with friends.

Once again we were treated to a fabulous meal at Next Door. This time with friends who had not previously experienced this special dining experience.

Can here to celebrate a 50th birthday and had our own room for the 10 people, amazing food externally attentive staff, good cocktail so many personalised touches the chef even came out after the meal was over, cant recommend enough

I almost don't want to submit this review, it's one of those restaurants that just gets it all right and you hesitate to share such a lovely place.

Wow. I genuinely do not know what is required to achieve a Michelin star but if the food here doesn’t deserve a star I’d like to know why.

Richard and Vicki have created a local restaurant that ranks at the pinnacle in Cheshire. The dining space is breathtaking, the service right on point and the food is sublime. The menu offers 4 choices, for each course. If there are rillettes or a terrine as a starter you're in luck! Great technique matched with superior produce.

The food itself is flawless, the portions are perfect, the staff are lovely and the atmosphere is warm and homely. It’s all you could ever want from a restaurant. I left the restaurant feeling deeply satisfied with the eating experience and I’d highly recommend a visit.

Friends told us about this restaurant in Frodsham and suggested we try it. What a find! Saturday lunch had 3 courses for £20 and each and every course was delicious. Desserts were as good as we have had at Michelin-starred restaurants (and for a fraction of the price). Staff were attentive and friendly. We will be back.
