Everything you could ever want from a modern craft/cask and cider bar, great conditioned beer, super clean and we have to give a special mention to the lovely Mia for spoiling our dogs rotten, they were made to feel as welcome as we were. I’d thoroughly recommend the Newcastle Tap to anyone travelling to the area

I went in on a drink after work type thing. Amazing selection of beers on tap. On the back wall you can read what each beer is like, hoppy or whatever. Don't get the fascination with overly hopped beer. It tastes like elderflower. And another thing. What is the fascination with elderflower. Why ruin a good drink with floral tones? Where was I? All one one level so wheelchair friendly but it is crowded with an assortment of tables and high bar stools. That's before it gets crowded with an assortment of people. If they do food that's news to me. If you want a nasty pint of Fosters then there's a wether spoons over the road.

Possibly one of my favourite places in Newcastle. Open plan drinking area with plenty of tables. Last time I was here there was footie on, and there were plenty of happy people on their way to watch the match and I had a few cracking random conversations. This time was just a Thursday evening while I waited for my train home and there was a healthy number of people there. Spare space so we didn't feel crowded, but enough to make it feel happy and sociable. Big windows so plenty of natural light, and a decent range of ales on to satisfy almost every taste (although they were a bit light on imperial stout, I'll forgive them as it's a general issue with breweries right now!) The pizzas are brilliant. An interesting selection to keep everyone happy and not too long to wait for it. Finally the staff. Always seems to be a friendly and patient team trying their best to match you to your drink. Fair play, front of house team. One concern I did have was how suitable this place would be during the zombie apocalypse. Big windows would be very hard to fortify, so unless they have shutters then I would suggest an alternative location for hunkering down.

Low alcohol beers. Very few beers with more than 5%. No Newcastle Brown Ale, even if it is less than 5% also. Edit: Corrected by management. Apparently they do have beers over 5%. When I asked about beers with a kick the bar tenders pointed me to two that had more than 5% but both were "sours". If I had known they had beers with a big kick as management states I would have spent more time and money there.

Would recommend to anyone fancying a nice pint in a good atmosphere wanting a decent pizza that won't break the bank. 12" or 18" are your option, we both had 12". Yet another visit to my favourite bar for a quality beer and a bit of pizza with firends. Drinks wise. Noticed a good number of the beers were out of order including my favourite wheat beer sadly. On the plus side the new Pilsner was a great alternative to the Veltins I usually have. Prices have stayed steady in the face of rising inflation, which is a common sense approach and much appreciated. Certainly will result in extra visits. Pizza we shared a couple of 18 inchers (that's the best value in case you were wondering) between a few of us. There was plenty. What can you say. Consistent excellence. The Ruby Murray was on form and fresh and the other one was Tikka, again fresh and delicious. Sauces were a great touch too. Especially liked the curry mayo. Staff were excellent too. All in, remains a consistent high quality place for an evening pint and a bite. Keep it up.

After 1.5 weeks in Scotland and northern England, we had a nice Weihenstephaner wheat beer here again. Add an excellent pizza and the evening is saved. Overall, a nice bar with self-service when ordering at the bar. The food is then served at the numbered table. The only criticism: I didn't understand the concept of ordering and table selection at first. The explanation on the menu is so subtle that I initially overlooked it as part of the menu selection. Choosing a table or sitting down and then ordering at the bar is a double-edged sword. If it gets busy, the selected table can suddenly be occupied and that doesn't please the following guests, who have to be chased away again. Maybe you should think about a proper operating concept. Otherwise nice bar/restaurant. This is popular with both tourists and work colleagues after work. You definitely won't make a mistake by visiting here.

Cafe Nerolocation-icon4-5 St Mary's PlaceOther cuisines

Usual lovely Cafe Nero with friendly and attentive service. Cafe extends beyond the counter and goes back with range of seating available. However the toilet is also back there, with only the toilet door dividing that space from the seating area - it became apparent during our visit that not everyone accessing the toilet washed their hands (lack of hand dryer sounds) and also that leaving the toilet door open is the norm! It really was impossible to not observe human behaviour. Any chance of extending the wall that is there and making the toilet a little less noticeable?
