New Mumtaz in Northampton

Me and my family have been coming here for years and we have never been disappointed! Me and my daughter visited tonight just the two of us ..Always welcomed with a big friendly smile 😊 We have tried many Indian restaurants in Northampton and none of them match up to here. All are very expensive. But this one is by far the best … The food is outstanding. I always want to try new things and everytime I do everything just taste so good . The taste of everything is just amazing. The staff are professional hard working and always very friendly and polite. Also the sag panerr side dish is one of the best I’ve ever had . Plenty to choose from and presentation always immaculate. Worth every penny. Give it a go 😊Shannon x

4 of us went for a catch up we all had different meals which we all said were excellent we will be returning soon . PS I also get my takeaways from here they never fail to hit the spot . Keep up the good work.

Such a shame !!! 8 of us went for dinner had nice food and service okay! Until we went to pay! Had a taste card which we put for and give us 2 for 1 on a lot of restaurants including this one! They refused it and made us pay full price! Felt like we were being scammed because we had a large bill and they didn’t want to loose money ! Very disappointed !

Relaxed atmosphere which is ideal when visiting on an early Saturday evening with the other half and teenage girls. The food was very good. Fresh, tasty and brought to the table quickly. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. They couldn't have been more helpful. First visit to the restaurant but it won't be our last.

Can't believe not been here before. Went last night and had excellent food and service. Best Indian food I have had in years really authentic and not gloopy as many can be very impressed and will be back.

I've been ordering from Mumtaz for years now, and they never disappoint. Delicious, well-marinated (and cooked!) chicken, fast delivery and always on time too. If you want the best curry in town, go here!

Food was nice but absolutely shocking service kept having to ask for everything. No drinks were offered had to ask for bill then again to pay.

Outstanding. 3 blokes out for a curry, we love curry, we are curry nerds. We went here as reviews were good and I have a discount. Friendly service, with a bit of banter. Great food, we all loved it and we didn't order the normal/classic stuff...... Except the tandoori mixed starter..... sheek kebab.......mmmmm

We are lucky to have many years experience of Asian food, initially from growing up in West London, and when we first went to this restaurant a couple of months ago it was very good so we decided to go again to celebrate a family birthday. The starters were good though on consideration pre prepared so it was the mains where things went really wrong. We have enough experience to know there can be differences in Asian dishes depending on restaurants but we generally know what to expect from our choices but this review is about cooking technique, flavour, communication and expectations. We chose favourite standard dishes, tikka masala, balti and biriyani. The tikka masala sauce was extremely sweet and red, no flavour or sweet or tang of tomatoes. The balti was disappointing, no wonderful mix of flavours just loads of salt, no identifiable vegetables and the chicken was undercooked and rubbery. The Biriyani was deliberately chosen as a mild rice dish (no heat) but we asked the waiter for a little heat to be placed in the vegetable side to contrast the meal, however, whether it was communication or the chef had a different perspective the dish was all heat and no flavour. The chef had even put a lot of heat into the rice dish which was completely unnecessary and there was no contrast. When the waiter had joked about 'phal' strength it was reiterated by us that just a little heat was wanted. When we mentioned there was a lot of chilli in the rice dish the waiter brought yoghurt which did nothing to alleviate the lack of flavour. We are hardly the sort of English people who choose to flex their chilli strength in competition but to not even be respected in verbal choice was disappointing. Unfortunately it only takes one bad experience to never go back. It was an expensive meal, which should have been a happy celebration but was marred by the standards of the main meals but fortunately there are many more restaurants who are more consistent in their meals no matter what day and which chef but this one just seems a bit hit and miss.

Can’t remember the last time I ordered a Indian takeaway and it was nice so we chose this restaurant and boy am I glad I did , I can honestly say without a doubt the best Indian takeaway I have ever had , the food was absolutely gorgeous the service 1st class and the price was incredibly cheap , can’t wait to have another one .

Another excellent meal at our favourite curry house. Tried different meals tonight on the advice of our waiter and we weren't disappointed.

When l rang to order a delivery they where very nice, friendly and helpful. The set meal for two was delicious. Highly recommended.

This place is absolutely beautiful the food has got so much flavours! We arrived a little late due to my husband working late hours so we only really have 45 mins in they’re but they stayed open for longer which was amazing for us so no rush. The environment is relaxing and peaceful and the workers are very helpful if you don’t know what something is on the menu. I defiantly recommend this place to everyone for a dinner date!!

I ended up in here by chance when my car broke down with 2 young children. The decor is fun and lively. The food was delicious and the service friendly.

I've lived in Northampton a long time and tried many different curry places, but mumtaz is the one. We eat there every other week now and the consistency of what they create is amazing. Always on time if not early, tonight they arrived within 30 mins, food piping hot and of the usual high standard ive grown to love. We even go there for our Christmas Dinner now, highly recommend!

Started looking around for a new takeaway favourite after suffering increasing problems with customer service and attitude at Far Cotton Tandoori. Have used Mumtaz Lounge on four separate occasions now and the food has been great each time. The flavours are very good and you can tell that care and expertise has gone into the cooking. It is a bit more expensive than some places, particularly if ordered through Just Eat, but I'd say it's worth it.

Not a visit but a takeaway the first since before lockdown. Absolutely fabulous meal and service thank you. Really enjoyed it. You cannot go wrong with the food from the Mumtaz Lounge.

Haven't been here before but would come back . Very attentive service - in no rush for us to leave . Very tasty food , generous portions.

My first visit. Thought i would try Sunday Lunch Time Buffet with my 13 year old son.. well, the food was excellent... lots to choose from... there were poppadums, naan bread with chutneys, onion bahjis too.. curries were tasty and cooked to a turn... staff were friendly.... well worth the money, i think i've converted my son from pizzas and pasta to top notch indian food.... we are going back, see you soon Mumtaz !!

I visited this restaurant on the 11th January for my partners 25th birthday. I had called and booked in advance and pre told them it was a celebration for my partners birthday. When we arrived we were very quickly seated and offered starters and drinks. The order was taken very quickly and it was 1 waiter per table so the service was exceptional. The food was delicious, hot and generous portions. The waiters couldn’t have been more accommodating and gave my partner a great birthday meal. I am so glad I chose this restaurant and would certainly return. Thank you for a great meal!

Consistently tasty food both eating in and taking away on multiple occasions now. Always my first choice. Lovely crisp and fresh naan bread!

The food was delicious, the service was brilliant - i couldn't fault it. There was around 12 of us and the overall experience was brilliant - even got a box of chocolates at the end. Would go again!

Visited this restaurant for the first time a few weekend's ago and thought the food was delicious. Had to remind the waiter about the forgotten starters and plates, but mistakes happen and they were very apologetic and rectified the situation immediately. Overall I was very pleased with the service, especially the young chap, he treated us like royalty!

Have eaten two takeaways from here now and both have been very good with a good delivery service. If you live within their free delivery range I would recommend you give them a try....

We have had three meals at this restaurant and has Always been okay. I have never made a complaint ever about any restaurant, but tonight we thought we would have a take away and went on line. That part very easy and within a few moments clicking on “place my order “ roughly 7:30pm order average time showing 45min which would make it 8:15 roughly delivery time. Once we had clicked on the order we had a email back saying delivery time would be 8:53. Well a little different but we still go for it. At 9pm I had to ring & they said that it had been dispatched & reassured us it would be with us shortly. 9:20 we rang again, this time They told us that it was nearly ready & offering us discount for inconvenience, we accepted but really it’s not about the money we would rather pay full price & have good service.

Went for an early evening meal with friends after work. Never been in here before but was plesabtly surprised. Service was very good and all staff were very friendly. Couldn't do enough for us. Food was cooked fresh to order and portions were ample. Food was delicious. My friend was so full she couldnt finish hers, so they wrapped it for her to take out. We all thoughly enjoyed our meal and said how tasty it was. Would recommend and will definitely go back.

Mumtaz is the best Indian in Northampton, food is always delicious, whether in the restaurant or take away. We would not go anywhere else for Indian food! Highly recommend.

Never disappointed when I receive a takeaway from Mumtaz! They are all so friendly, whenever I have phoned to order their customer service skills as well as there menu and food are second to none! Could not recommend enough!

We visited mumtaz lounge this evening with friends, and chose it pretty randomly as it was in between two locations.

First outing with the kids for curry. All the family loved it, including my fussy 9 your old boy who never tries anything. Decent range of things to try, good value, good food and good service.

We have been coming here since September 2018,I've not written a review before but felt I should so others don't miss out on a great Indian restaurant.Always a nice greeting ,even knowing what drinks we would like.the buffet has plenty of choice for everyone and at £10.95 a bargain for all you can eat,poppodoms and pickles to start,vegetable samosas ,onion bhajis,salad,Aubergine pakoras,chicken sati,chicken tikka masala ,noodles,butter chicken ,chicken tikka masala ,chicken special,chicken jalfrezi,lamb bhuna,pilau rice ,naan ,pilau rice,and Bombay potatoes ,were the items on offer and delicious as always.

Excellent food. Well done guys. Service was fantastic. Ordered a lamb jalfrezi, buttered chicken, mushroom rice, garlic naan. Starters ordered shish kebab, chicken tikka and vegi samosas. Definitely going back again.

Coming here on Valentines day, I expected this to be top notch service judging by what I read on here. However I wasn't happy with the service that provided on this special evening.

Sunday buffet was excellent. Good customer service from the staff. Very helpful explaining the different choices. £10 per head .well worth it.

The best curry in town and reasonably priced. Take away meals were ordered for 8 people on Xmas day, delivery was prompt and the order was correct with a few freebies thrown in

We always get our takeaway from here. We decided to eat in for a change. Restaurant is basic nothing flash but the service, staff and food are faultless. Would recommend unreservedly.

I found this restaurant through Just Eat and thought i would give it a go, had my first meal delivered and it was amazing so i thought i would check it out and book a table. I found the staff really polite and the food even better than my takeaway. The staff here just cant do enough for their guests and that really makes the whole experience nice.

These people have customer service down to a ‘T’. And their food is amazing. Full flavour curries, fresh popadoms and beautiful naan bread is guaranteed. Their Bengal Flame curry is definitely worth a try. Full of flavour and spice unlike some where the heat overwhelms the taste.

We came here to eat on Friday 28/09/2018 at around 21:00. It was busy however we were seated within minutes.

Returned here again this year after a fantastic meal last year when we stayed up here for the F1 grand prix. Food is absolutely sublime and the service is fantastic. Staff are very friendly and never rush you with your food. Tables are well presented and clean.

After hearing good reviews I was slightly disappointed, my Coca Cola I ordered took me back to my youth when they use to sell Rola Cola 50p for. 2 litres flat and leaves a horrible taste in your mouth , the poppadoms came out soft and the pickles left something to be desired !

We visited this restaurant while staying at Billings. We found this restaurant excellent, we had the buffet, plenty of choice excellent service.Great value for money. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting.

Once in a while we fancy an Indian cuisine for the palate. New Mumtaz offers an award winning curries to satisfy cravings & reasonably priced at £10 per person, good value for money when one like something different from Big Breakfast or Cravery during the weekends.

Having been here before and enjoyed a great meal we thought we would return. It was poor from the start with the sauces with the popadoms being warm and rather runny. The main course was all rather hot in spice terms from Motor Paneer which is normally really mild, my wife’s korma which she could not eat. No offers made to reduce the bill but tried to give us freebies and a £10 voucher to come back - we won’t. The waiter even told us when he told the chef he had checked and sorted his Korma sauce( which he had made the day before).

This is the second time we have visited and it’s become our favourite Indian restaurant, the food is great!

Brilliant restaurant; expect nothing. but the best.

We went here on Saturday the 2nd of June. We were welcomed by the boss(I think) and shown to our table. It was very quiet to be honest just us 2 and another party of 4. However we were looked after very well. The food it has to be said was delicious. Served piping hot and freshly cooked. My friend said it was possibly the best peshwari naan bread she had ever had, full of coconut. And her salmon she said was delicious. I chose Mexican Lamb which was also 1st class. Very tender Lamb. We will definitely be returning even though we don’t live in Northampton(12 mile drive).

Went as a family of 4 on Sunday at 18.00 pm. 22 metal trays of starters, curries amd different rices. The food was lovely and there was a good selection from very mild to hot curries.

Food was absolutely fantastic and the delivery driver was very friendly, smartly dressed and polite. I tried the mumtaz unique starter to be different which was gorgeous and will be ordering that dish again for sure. We will be ordering from here again in the future and recommend to others ! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Being given a flat glass of warm Cola and damp Poppadoms was not a great start having heard good things about this restaurant. After double checking that we had the right place I could only hope the main course would improve things. Thankfully it did with a tasty King Prawn Vindaloo, Pilaw rice and a fresh Paratha to mop up the rich fragrant gravy. The staff were nice given they were a man down and running around but I don’t think we’ll be back in a hurry and left a little disappointed.

this Indian is the best Indian in Northampton! our food came early and was all very delicious! furthermore forgot to review my order last time round (which was equally as delicious as this time round) - we ordered food very late, but the restaurant still gave us top quality food and a complimentary bottle of beer! After being disappointed with our local Indian the Mrs and I decided to try somewhere new. She is usually picky with Indian but she loved every thing we bought, so did I. I can honestly say this is one of, if not the most delicious curries I have ever had. Delivery driver was slightly late ( 5 mins) but was very apologetic and it was no issue. Food was still nice and hot and all around delicious. Will definitely be ordering from here again!

My father and I went for the Sunday Buffet. It was the first time we'd ever been. The food was delicious and fresh, with many dishes to choose from. The service was great and the staff were extremely friendly. It is really super value for money and I would recommend to anyone, as we had a brilliant time and were really impressed. We'll be back!

I did not know what to expect jabbing disappointed by other Indian takeaways but was pleasantly surprised. The Food was tasty, was hot on delivery and no spillage. I would definitely order from them again and would certainly recommend them to family and friends.

Second visit here this time trying out the good value Sunday Buffet for £10. Great selection of food with popular dishes. Particularly enjoyed the jalfrezi and lamb curry. Great flavours, fresh with lots of meat! Only negative were the chicken starters being very dry...

Recently visited with friends. Food superb service excellent. Ladies even given an Easter egg as we visited on Good Friday. We have a list of 4 or 5 Indian restaurants that we regularly visit. The New Mumtaz will certainly be added to our list.

Had a family meal and was truly impressed. The service was second to none. The gave our young daughter a colouring book and Easter egg! The food was amazing, fresh and tasty!!

Took nearly 2 hours, so almost 1 hour late (no updates), Food cold, tasted awful, Nowhere near the usual Mumtaz standard. Omelette looks like it was made from made from 1 egg and soggy? Poppadom soft, Samosas tasted odd, Onion Bhaji stodgy. Very disappointed at these prices, and will go elsewhere from now, not even gradeable, so that's a big fat zero from Len. 0/10.
