New Lotus House in Crawley

Would give a minus if allowed…. Absolutely disgusting- over cooked and inedible- straight in the bin- chow mein stunk , Spent over 20 mins on the phone and no refund given!!! Avoid Avoid Avoid ! Save your money

We found this Chinese to very good, with good portions size and good flavours, at a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.

The takeaway was quickly delivered and foods were very tasty. Highly recommend it, we definitely will order again.

Ordered on line via 3rd party app. When food arrived 1 item was incorrect - i got S&S chicken balls instead of prawn, i am accepting that mistakes happen especially on a busy weekend. Called straight away. They did offer to replace the prawn balls with a 40 minute wait meaning rest of food would have been cold, offered a credit for next order however my last order to them was 5 plus years ago so not a consideration. Asked for refund of incorrect item advised couldnt be done as i had ordered from a 3rd party app. Offered to bring whole meal back for a full refund where refund for incorrect item was offered and i accepted. Finally checked my bank statement and no refund, i callled my credit card company to check i hadnt missed it and they confirmed no regund was processed. I trusted the company which was my error and sadly will never order from them again as they did not keep to their word. The food for the rest of my order was absolutely devine i just hate chicken balls. My advice if ordering by their 3rd party app getting a refund is a pain and you may not even get it despite what they say.

Worst Chinese food Iv ever tasted chicken balls were fry and like they were from the previous day my chow mein was basically just beansprouts with a few noodles! I definitely will not be ordering from here again total waste of money

Absolutely great food. Chicken chop suey, kung po chicken and sweet and sour chicken balls were lovely. Fast delivery and hot tasty food. Really well recommended.

Ordered takeaway online - after 2 hours 30 mins waiting (called over 200 times) i drove down to the shop to be told it had just left (and phone was off the hook). Its a 10 minute drive - the food arrived 40 mins after that. Lady on the till couldn't care less, would offer no discount and said she didn't care of we didn't order again. None the less, was looking forward to the food given the reviews - ignore them the food is bang average and small portions. The Squid in Peppercorn salt was frankly embarrassing. The chow mien was ok but you cant really mess up a chow mien. Go elsewhere - this isn't worth it.

I got the food from them yesterday, nice service quick delivery and lovely food! I would say my favorite food are barbecue spare ribs and crispy spring roll. Definitely order again!

This is the best Chinese food I've ever had even though I've never been to China but it's really delicious

We are new to the area and we’re looking for a takeaway, This restaurant came up on a few sites and had mixed reviews, we decided to make an order. We paid via PayPal and went to collect, good covid measures in place. The food was hot and really tasty, we were not disappointed, I notice a lot of reviews are now quite old and/or around the time of lockdown when a lot of businesses were going through major changes, I suggest this restaurant has taken on board the negative reviews and upped their game as our meal was really good and we will definitely be ordering again

We have been using New Lotus House for + 10 years and it’s always been brilliant until last night (3rd Oct 20) not sure if it’s a change of chef but the food was awful.

We ordered via the phone for collection (outside of their delivery area) and collected the food about twenty minutes later with it ready. The prawns in the “King Prawns in Seasonal Vegetables” dish were a good size and my girlfriend noted that she liked the garlic in the dish. I had “Roast Duck with Fried Rice” and whilst it could have had a little bit more variation (peas, carrots, eggs etc) in the fried rice, it was nonetheless very good and I added some chilli sauce at home to make it spicier. The service seems very covid safe, the entire counter is behind glass and there is a little glass door to exchange cash/food. Contactless payments are done directly through the glass. Easy parking in front of the restaurant, although the area seemed a little sketchy.

We had a takeaway from here and it was lovely, everything was hot tasted delicious and was delivered on time

I read reviews and thought it was going to be a great meal. Upon arrival the lady was slightly rude but i just ignored that. When we got home (only around a 5 minute drive) the food wasnt piping hot and the sweet and sour sauce was cold. Everything that had a sauce was so sweet, even the chilli shredded beef, it was far too sweet! Even the crispy seaweed was coated in brown sugar and sadly some of the food had to be thrown away because it was like eating diabetes on a plate. Such a shame!

Online ordering on their website, with payment via PayPal. Ordered for collection, and my food was ready when I got there. Service in these Covid times was via an external speaker/microphone on what was the front door, and the order is presented safely via a serving hatch. The order was accurate. Singapore noodles, Beef & Broccoli, Sweet & Sour chicken and Cashew Chicken with yellow bean were all excellent, but the fried rice was a bit tasteless. Overall, the food was excellent, not over salty, and was piping hot. The meat was tender and of good quality. Happy to order from here again.

I cant believe these poor reviews... we use this place all the time and ordered this week and it was excellent. Food was hot, tasty and flavoursome.

I’m very disappointed after today’s take away. My house special dish tasted horrible, noodles were very dry and looks like been cooked few days before, Chicken tasted off.... had to throw away everything.

we haven't eaten here for a while and boy has it changed. The sweet n sour chicken balls were awful, huge amounts of uncooked dough, the special chowmein was poor, we had a few other dishes that were passable - best thing was the prawn crackers. Will not be returning

Have used this Chinese for over 3 years and it's always been beautiful. However the last two orders have been horrible, greasy and just not the standard we are used to. Possibly changed hands or a new chief but isn't nice anymore.

Food was lovely. The best Chinese I’ve had in a while. Wonton Soup was flavoursome and had lovely big dumplings with recognisable meat filling - whole prawns and pork mince... lovely. Crispy chilli beef was lovely as was the sweet and sour chicken. I would have given five stars but the chow mien came as plain noodles with the meat and sauce next it rather than mixed together (it was difficult to mix it when is was overflowing) so I knocked a star off but it still tasted good. Portion size was very generous with free prawn crackers and fortune cookies. We will be regulars from now on! A big thumbs up.

Two portions of half cooked chips for £8.60. Had to cook them in the oven. Ridiculous price. Not much beef in the beef curry either. Tasted nice once I'd cooked it all though which kind of defeated the object of delivering in.

We got a take out from here last week, which we were very impressed by. It was not greasy & we had a great portion size each where as some takeouts go to small. I had the vegetarian options & I must say they had some taste to them. :) This will be a new favourite takeout for us.

This is the best in in town that we have found ,and is good value for money. It was hot and everything looked fresh and gated good.our friends were impressed as well .

It's more of a 3.5 star place... prices vs quality are good but it's a typical local Chinese take-away. Can't go wrong here but nothing special.

Ok this Chinese is really GD, the food is not dripping in fat like some take aways. It's fresh and tasty. Plus the staff are lovely and helpful.

I've been buying take-aways from this place fairly regularly over the last year or so, since they changed management. The food is very good now, among the best in the town. They use good cuts of chicken in their chow mein and the flavours are fantastic. Even just their egg fried rice is so nice you can just eat it on its own. They get the fundamentals right and that's so important. Defintely give it a try if you're in the area.

We've been using China garden in Maidenbower Square for the past 4 years. Unfortunately this year they changed their curry recipe and colour of it. We called them and they said nothing had changed, despite several friends noting the change also. So we tried New Lotus house. All I can say is Lotus house is absolutely perfect and ive been ordering with them since. Thank you New Lotus House

Since moving to Crawley a year ago, we have been back to this take away at least once a month. The food is always really good, and it’s good value! Always a quick and friendly service. Love this place!

Estábamos buscando una buena comida para llevar china y dieron una recomendación para este lugar de un vecino. Hemos usado este para llevar unas cuantas veces, cuando estamos teniendo reunión o familia. La comida es de buena calidad y tamaño de las porciones también es buena.

Esta fue nuestra primera visita nos fuimos desde el otro lado de la ciudad. El servicio era precioso y el personal era muy amable. La comida era mejor para llevar chino que he tenido. Había mucho sabor y no demasiado de cebolla como un montón de uso de los sitios. Buena cantidad de carne en platos y comida en general, el tamaño de la porción. No puedo esperar para comer aquí de nuevo!

Parece que siempre estará a sólo 10 minutos de ordenar para recoger la comida, no suelen utilizar el servicio de entrega, calidad de la comida es buena y lo recomiendo, es un restaurante sólo para llevar.

First time i've used this takeaway, and visited after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, and wasn't dissapointed. The food was piping hot and very tasty. Good size portions and not a very long wait for it to be ready. This will now be the default chinese takeaway !! Highly recommended !!

Best food I've had in this area. Had it delivered to my hotel. Very quick delivery originally said 1hr 20mins but surprised it was here within 30mins. Ordered chicken chow mein and chicken balls wow very tasty. Portions were sufficient. Couldn't fault it at all. You do need to spend over £15 for free delivery but hey definitely would order again.

Having lived in the area many years ago we were back visiting family and fancied a Chinese takeaway. I used to use this one after a couple of beers in the Maid of Sussex which is sadly long gone. However this was a long time ago so I turned to Tripadvisor to see what people were recommending in Crawley. The reviews of the New Lotus House persuaded us to give it a try and we weren't disappointed. All of the dishes were well prepared and tasty. Chinese is a very subjective cuisine in my view but this one hit the mark - not too salty and not leaving us gasping for water at the end of the meal. Prawns with courgette and chilli is particularly recommended,

Excellent prawn toast, service is quick 10 mins and it was ready, Chicken with cashews and yellow bean sauce was a great tasting dish. Egg fried rice is succulent and fluffy.

I ordered a small takeaway to be delivered. When I opened the tray of egg fried rice to go with my chicken curry..my words were jesus christ what's that's smell.and it was the rice .yuk.. I phoned up to complain and told her that she needs to tell the chefs that there apparently fresh rice was horrible.they sent new rice .well this has totally put me off of going there again.HELLO rice is one of the most top foods for food poisoning.lets hope I don't get it for there sake.

The owner was friendly and recommended dishes to suit out taste. Food was amazing! I eat Chinese take away a lot, and from different places due to travelling, but this is definitely one of the best take away I ever had. I find other takeaway salt and pepper dishes are far salty, and normally a lot of MSG in it, make you thirsty afterwards but this one doesn't have so much MSG n salt. And chef acomdated my request - no nuts which was good.

Exciting takeaway with good food and service will continue to use. Probably one of the best in Crawley

Been trying chineses around crawley and Horley a while with out a doubt. Very quick delivery. Only used 4 times but I won't be changing.

I would not get take Chinese away from anywhere else in Crawley, this one is the best by far, have tried most since moving here, and Gales Drive is the freshest, hottest and quickest delivery. Please don't change

When working in Crawley and staying over at the local holiday inn express, I decided to try a local takeaway. After googling the local Chinese, I decided to try the new lotus house which was conveniently located within 3 mins drive from hotel. Well, the service was very polite and the food it really good as far as Chinese curries go, thus one is in the too 3 I have tasted! For a local Chinese takeaway, this has to be tried

We decided to use Lotus House as they delivered. Ordering food was straight forward and delivery time was as they told us. Food portions were enough and the lemon chicken I had was amazing, best I have ever tasted. My husband had the beef in black bean sauce and was very impressed. Even the kids liked it. Will be using this Chinese take out from now on.

Well not sure why we have not tried in recent years, probably just habit. We had a good quality meal from Lotus House, we chose to collect it rather than have a delivery.Crispy shredded beef was good and hot, to be recommended.

This is our favourite Chinese takeaway in Crawley and we have tried a few, they always deliver on time and the food is always hot, mixed hors'deouvres are very good, the prices are fair and about average really.

I ordered from here last week and it was delicious! I had the chicken curry and the chicken chow mein, they were lovely! This is the only chinese I use now!

Ordered for the first time a few weeks ago and had a surprisingly good meal. Ordered six dishes and have to say that five of them were very good. The price is very reasonable and the quantity decent. They even do deliveries. I would recommend the crispy fried noodles, garlic chilli chicken wings and the beef with black bean sauce and green peppers.
