I don't regularly write reviews. This little family owned restaurant deserves one though...I ate 3 dishes for about 16 pounds ALL of which were absolutely delicious. Don't go for the service, don't go for a lengthy meal, DO go if you want authentic, cheap and delicious Chinese food.

Seriamente. Nunca voy a volver! ! ! ! ! ! TAN GROSERO

Over the last 7 years I have enjoyed many tasty Chinese meals at this lovely little restaurant. The food is fresh and authentic, the staff are friendly and hospitable, and the prices are very reasonable. The lovely home-style food provided by this restaurant is SO much better and more affordable than the generic dishes served up in London China Town restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I enjoyed soup noodles with pork dumplings and char sui buns here with a generous pot of green tea for a very reasonable price. Clean fresh flavours and nice veg in the soup. The buns were not the fluffy buns I expected but still tasty. Decent portion sizes. Pleasant staff and surroundings, quick service and several other solo diners as well as two's and a few groups. I'd happily go back.

Clean and functional without frills, hidden away lunch place near Angel station. Good for lunch either on your own or with a friend. The focus is on noodles and dim sum and they also serve a less expensive lunch menu. Cheap and cheerful, and the service was quick but the food was nothing special.

I've been here a couple of times for lunch and it's excellent value for money and very tasty. The noodle dishes are great, the portions are huge by the way, ingredients are fresh and it's a cute little restaurant, right on the street between the canal and Upper Street so perfect for watching the world go by. For starters and mains, our bill was around £25.

I've been coming here for years because my dad and I love the dumplings and the noodle soup. This little gem is hidden away on a back street, not among the glitz of Upper Street. You may not see the table cloths and silver service of somewhere more expensive but the food is authentic, MSG free and won't leave you feeling bloated or greasy. Lunch or dinner this is my favourite authentic Chinese restaurant in London.

We came to new culture revolution for a light, quick lunch and we have to say that the dumplings and noodles are to die for! The portions are quite big but it was all for great value. All ingredients were fresh and there was no MSG in any of the food. The service was very quick and friendly. We shared some noodles, rice and dumplings between us and it seemed to fill us up as we were going to play sports and we needed a light, but it had to last us for quite a long time.Overall this is one of the nicest places in islington!

Good food but had a huge hair in our dumpings / we went in for quick bite and ended up having to stay 30 minutes longer than we wanted - and in an empty restaurant - that's pretty depressing . The restaurant should have immediately taken the dumplings off the food bill, we didn't want ask as this should be obvious ! We were appalled and for the sake of £5 they lost customers and gained a bad review. The restaurant would really benefit from being more accommodating and buzzy as its good food but there is never anyone in there!

Small restaurant, off the main street which could explain why we were the only customers in there at one point but the food, the food was first class. The portions are just right for those with hungry stomachs and even the kids, fussy Italians that they are, enjoyed their meals. The menu, as it probably says above, is predominantly noodle/rice based and the prices are good too. Hope to go back next time we're in Islington.

The meal was brilliant - try the sharer for two starter. Dim sums and dumplings are among the best I have tasted. The menu is relatively limited, but is different to many typical offerings - and it seems to reflect North Chinese cuisine. You don't go there for the ambience as it is a functional small restaurant so no tablecloths. You go there for the food and you will not be disappointed and just as important the price will not disappoint - about half the price of what you would pay in Soho!

I work locally and this was my third visit. Always prompt service even during the lunch time rush. The dumplings were nice albeit slighly lacking flavour (possibly frozen and not fresh) and duck rice noodles was very good. Generous portions and at a good price, I'd recommend this if you're in Angel and looking for a cheap quick sit-down meal.

At the end of the day it's Chinese food. More than adequate and tasty enough. Only real complaint is that the chop sticks provided didn't snap easily! Why? Surely this should have been perfected over thousands of years use? One ended up with more wood than the other! Very annoying.

I have been going here for last couple of years and it never disappoints. Food served is delicious, piping hot and arrives promptly. Good clean interiors, friendly staff makes it a delight. My favourite dishes are the Pan Pried Pork dumplings - which are out of this world. I love their Chicken with Chilli in Black Bean sauce and Stir Fried Tofu, Eggplant and Green Pepper in Yellow Bean Sauce (Three Treasures it is called!). They have a lunch menu where in a number of dishes from the mail menu are available at lower prices (smaller portions) and also have a combo offer for starters. Most of the mains in the lunch menu are priced under £6 and combo starter at £2.50. Mains in the main menu is under £7. They have a license to server alcohol and have variety of wines and beer. Their selection of Chinese Tea is pretty good ( a pot is around £1)Over-all a great place to visit.

We had high hopes for this restaurant that was tucked away from the hectic Angel high street. We were served a good starter of crispy fried duck but my main of seafood & tofu in a claypot wasn't good - it was bland and gloopy thanks to too much cornflour added to the broth (not even the addition of rice couldn't improve the dish!). My partners dish, beef tang mian, was also quite tasteless and he could barely finish it. Such a pity!

Don't know why I have never put a review of this place until now - I've been going there for years. Maybe familiarity breeds contempt? It shouldn't, and I want to rectify that. This is a friendly local noodle bar that tends to do simple food well. They only have a few variations - everything is either chicken, beef, seafood or veggie, with some duck for good measure, but you can have these with various types of noodles - chow mean, lao mein etc , or in soup stock or with rice.Starters are good - I like the chilli prawns; the mussels are good too. The hot and sour soup always tastes fresh. A couple of times I've just had a load of starters for a kind of Chinese meze. The missus loves the dumplings. As it is 'healthy' food you aren't going to get a MSG hangover. It is pretty cheap too (unless like me you insist on having too many Tiger Beers!). It is just off Upper Street and never seems too crowded (though they seem to have a steady turnover), which is a blessing on a weekend. Don't think they stay open too late - they seem to close by 11.All in all, a good place to eat.

A Chinese noodle and dumpling place; the decor's modern, but looking a bit aged now: the restaurant's been going for a while. The menu offers a selection of starters, followed by dumplings in soup, noodles in soup, fried or in sauce. It's OK, but a bit under-powered when it comes to herbs and spices. With Shoreditch's Hanoi Town within a couple of miles, New Culture Revolution pales a bit, by comparison. But it's a useful local stand-by, and the staff are nice and friendly.

Their dumplings are without a doubt the best thing on the menu. It's a small, quiet place. It is missing some of the more common Chinese dishes which is fine as long as you know this going in to it. Was a regular visitor here some years back and loved it then, so I'm delighted it's still going strong and is as good as it was. It is tucked away behind the frantic Angel in an odd little precinct. A minimalist feel to the place, very clean and the staff are incredibly efficient. They do the best dumplings I've had anywhere in London and serve fresh, tasty, remarkably good value msg free Chinese food. The lunchtime menu is fantastic value; yesterday I had a portion of 4 pork and Chinese leaf dumplings and a generous size plate of duck and beansprouts on crispy noodles. If you ask for tea you get a large pot. It was under a Tenner. Going to make the most of my time back in the area. And that deep fried squid did look good. Next time I'll try the main menu.
