New China House in Chesterfield

When the previous owners had this Chinese takeaway I ordered often & they always did my food exactly how I liked it… & I never had any problems…. I ordered from the new owners & the food was ABSOLUTELY disgusting I will NEVER order from there again…

Ordered 2 salt and pepper share boxes for an evening in with the ex girlfriend. Definitely never getting back together after the inedible food I suggested from this place. Delivery driver was a nice bloke

Ordered meal for delivery as spent day traveling, was told 40 mins for our order. Nearly 2 hours later still no food, kept lying about driver whereabouts and weren't bothered about finding a solution. Will never use again.

Amazing food and reasonably priced nice people on the phone and polite and kind delivery driver will be ordering a lot more from here

This has been our favourite Chinese for years. Recently (as I found out after placing our order) it has been taken over by someone new. Order was £20 more than previously (rising from £30 to £50). Chicken skewers - nice sauce but questionable meat Chow mien - very smoky / burned flavour and all chopped up. Chips - hard and complimented with free hairs 🤮 Sweet and sour was lovely. Nice flavour to the seaweed. Got a free bottle of pop and spring rolls. Good portion sizes.

Used this place for years, now it's under new ownership, food reduced in quantity, food quality reduced to the point it is disgusting, but prices have gone way up, never going here again. UPDATE: next day got a bad stomach along with the rest of us who ate this trash, love running to the loo.

Awfull!! Left all the chicken? A texture like no other, we thought it couldn't be edible so it got left, tried the remaining part of our takeaway VIAL !! Save your money and all the disappointment don eat from here

Worse Chinese I have had In years the chicken was like rubber and the curry was like water the rice was below avarage and even the prawn crackers left a dreadful taste in your mouth and I did eat it anyway seen as it just cost me £30+ and I have been badly for last 2 days will not be eating here again

Called in and ordered a special chow mein and fried rice. The food was with me in around 5 minutes, which I thought was very quick. Got it home, and I must say it's one of the worst meals I've ever bought. The chow mein was almost grey in colour and had 6 great big balls of pure meat fat in it (god knows what it was). Enough to say it went straight in the bin.

Friends from the area recommended me to try their food, so I travelled over a hour to this takeaway and damn… it’s the best I’ve had period!

Greasy inedible food. Most ended up in the bin. Meat and chicken were soft and almost unidentifiable, so much so that we threw almost all of it out. Will never go again, so poor quality.

I am a vegetarian and I highly recommend this place. The food is always nice and hot on arrival, and smells so delicious, the staff are very friendly and accommodating with any diet needs. The vegetables are really fresh, and cooked perfectly with the sauces of the dish you are having. We love it here! Thank you 🙏🏼

just ordered from new china house, when the food arrived it had leaked all through the bag. Disappointed in the quantity of the salt n pepper share box which was just bones. Chicken chow-mein; slimy chicken which was inedible and meat looked grey.highly disappointed would not recommend.

Been going here for nearly 20 years and always been too notch! Cannot be beaten on taste or price. I travel over 30 minutes and won’t go anywhere else. We ordered a large amount for a birthday tonight, it was no trouble, fantastic service and scrummy! X

I’ve used New China for many years and the food has always been excellent, generous portions, always fresh and hot and the staff are great. Surprised at some not-so-good reviews as I’ve never had one meal I could fault and I’ve tried a lot of Chinese takeaways!

Had a Chinese from here last night 24/04/21 and it was absolutely disgusting, the chicken was slimey and didn't taste of chicken at all. There was no taste in the sauce. We had one mouthful and it went in the bin. Will NEVER buy from here again

It was nasty I had a beef chow main i tried the beef first an I've never been so annoyed about the food In my life so I checked the beef an though nothing of it so I tried the noodles an I did not like them nether I will never ever order of them again what a waste of money

China house is my favourite Chinese, I'm always looked after,and the food tastes lovely,I have my own special, the food is always hot and tasty, 5 stars from me,I love china house food.

Ordered from here Monday evening as all other Chinese were closed, absolutely awful and inedible 🤢 chicken was slimy, curry had a weird “fragrant” taste, prawns tasted very strange and “off”, noodles were burnt, only edible dish was egg fried rice, put the lot in the bin 🙄 won’t be ordering again

Not happy at all but with us being in lock down not meany are open but sorry never again for got one of the dish we orderd and did not think much to what we did have .

Anyone leaving a bad review is simply uncultured. I used to work in a traditional Chinese restaurant/takeaway down south and I've missed the taste of good, well seasoned Chinese food and this is the only place up here I've found that doesn't taste like bland, British slop. I adore the energy of the people there (the receptionist is very friendly and always has a smile on her face) the range of food is actually extensive and even I got to try a few things that I hadn't before which is pretty rare. It's by far the best Chinese not just in Chesterfield but from what I can tell so far most of the northern part of England.

Me and my partner have had food from here on several occasions. And we've never faulted it. It's a fare price. And we've always enjoyed the food. What more do people want from a Chinese takeaway. 🤔😃

Don't understand the bad reviews about this place. It has been the best Chinese (of the many I've tried) I ever tasted in my life... By far Had special fried rice which has a bit of everything and it was gorgeous, all fresh ingredients and huge chunky bits of meat including King prawns not shrimps like it's usual in other Chinese places. 1st time I didn't manage to finish the whole food. Amazing meal and my new favourite Chinese anywhere, wife also agreed and said it was the best Chow Mein she ever had. Lady at counter was lovely and helpful, 5 stars all across the board.

Good quality food at a reasonable price.

This takeaway is terrible. I ordered from here as a one off as our regular Chinese takeaway was closed. There beef satay was literally disgusting. The beef was unusually pale looking and had a weird, spongy and slimy texture and the dish was watery, tasteless and just disgusting. I have never seen or tasted beef like this ever before, even from other Chinese takeaways i have had. There was something just weird about it? It probably wasn't even beef? The egg fried rice was just boiled rice and not fried properly, but swimming in oil?? Some of the veg was off colour and tasted off. Anyway i didn't eat the satay or much of any thing else i ordered. Definitely not going here again the food is bad. I wouldn't even give them a 1 star.

The worst Chinese takeaway that we have ever had. It was so disgusting that we wouldn’t even let the dogs eat it! The chicken was like lumps of blubber, chow mein Noodle’s extremely salty and greasy, spare ribs never ever resembled a rib and were bone covered in batter. Rice was just about ok but again salty. The only decent item we bought were the spicy chips which were nice but at over £23 for them (as all the other food was inedible) was a tad to expensive!!!! Never again and I’ve told friends and family to stay clear too!

Stopped off last night and ordered Beef Curry and Boiled Rice! Really looked forward to what looked like a well prepared meal! How wrong was I? The first mouthful of beef tasted slimy and it was like eating rubber?? But the worst part was the meat was not cooked properly, red and slightly bloody! Besides that the rice and vegetables were fine! Unfortunately I won’t be visiting again! A real shame as the lady who served me was very friendly!

Ttried the special chow mein with sauce. Really unpleasant. The noodles were not properly cooked, the sauce was lumpy and I needed to drink a lot of water after it. what a shame.

My wife and I have used the New China House for many many years now. Although we live in Sheffield we travel the 11 miles to Chesterfield to collect our food. It is always delicious, the portions are sizable and the service is wonderful. Joanne who takes the orders is so very friendly and warm, it is a pleasure to use this takeaway.

Not impressed that they're closed at 5:49pm on a weekday when they say open 5pm till 12am 7 days a week. EDIT: Your menu says open 7 days a week, 5pm till 12am, including bank holidays

Ordered a take away for my Chinese New Year Banquet. Did starters myself and arranged for main course to be delivered at 8.30 of which is was precisely. All food hot and correct, amazing really as there were over 10 different dishes. catered for 8 people, however I could have invited another 8 people given amount of food supplied. Really good value generous portions. All tasty and would definitely recommend

Food absolutely inedible, no idea how this place is still open after serving food like they sold us tonight, two meals thrown in the bin!

We drove 30 mins because we thought it was a proper all you can eat buffet . But no buffet, yes you can eat as much as you want but you have to order it. Sorry to sound awkward but to me and my family a buffet is where you pick and serve yourself . Food ok , service ok atmosphere moderate . Will not go back . Steve

Este es el uso llevar me chino único, después de haber probado muchos de los otros. La comida es de excelente relación calidad-precio, porciones generosas y un montón de carne en los platos de carne. Siempre caliente, las chicas por teléfono me conoce por mi voz y lo que pides. La casa especial Chow Mein es una comida en sí, aunque también he probado el peregrinaje Dragon, las comidas, la comida en un fuerte y mucho más. Personal encantador y amable, impecablemente limpio y fácil de aparcar para recoger directamente afuera. Un sobresaliente!

No puede alardear acerca de este lugar. El tamaño de las porciones son geniales y los precios son razonables. La comida es deliciosa. Mi favorito es el chowmain especial de la casa con salsa y gambas tostadas. Siempre llega caliente y en un plazo razonable. No tengo prisa lo que hace que la comida, lo que resulta en una mejor calidad y sabor. Me encantaría que incluyera unas galletas de fortuna con cada orden :)

Have used this place about 5 times now and the quality of the food is excellent, cannot fault anything. Especially the salt and pepper squid, amazing. Recommend the combo box A also. :)

My wife and our friends have used this takeaway for about four years now. There are numerous Chinese takeaways in Chesterfield but none beat this. The portions are large, the quality wonderful and the prices very very fair. Try the special chow mein, beef curry and sweet and sour king prawn cantonese style. You will not be disappointed. The ladies who serve you are so very friendly and always smiling. They are an absolute pleasure.
