WOW! THANK YOU we “gate crashed” the “27 years of trading party” .. we had Delicious food, too many drinks and FANTASTIC friendly service . I wish we lived nearer!

I've been wanting to visit for a long time having heard such great things about Nelsons. I decided to book a table for my partners birthday, as was very hopeful it would be really special. Wow, it surpassed expectations for both of us. Such a gorgeous chilled vibe, we felt so relaxed and cosy. The food was out of this world good and the staff were so friendly. I can honestly say this is now going to be my new favourite eatery. I was so sad when my favourite restaurant closed in nearby Todmorden a while back. I never expected to find a replacement half as good. But Nelsons, you nailed it all thank you. We can't wait to come back already!

Amazing food for all. It will have been said many times, but despite being a meat lover I enjoyed every dish and the staff were very helpful in suggesting options to create a memorable meal, with textures and flavours that excited my palate. Cauliflower Korma, Tasty tofu skewer, bean flatbread and something else that was delicious :)

We visited Nelson’s yesterday for the first time after family had talked about how amazing the food was. Absolutely fabulous food. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Compliments to the chef, your food is perfection!

This was a great find in Hebden Bridge. We had a large hen party to feed and the restaurant were able to accommodate us. Literally ordered everything on the menu as sharing plates and tried some wonderful food. Obviously it had to be washed down with some orange wine!

I’ve eaten here several times and every time I am blown away with how delicious the food is. There is always such a range of dishes, but they flavours always go so well together. The ambiance is amazing too, it feels really chilled and intimate. There is great music, but never too loud, and the acoustics mean you can never really hear others’ conversations and vice versa. Perfect for a date night, or small groups. Cannot recommend for high quality, interesting and all round amazing vegan food. The menu changes as well so you never get bored!!

We visited Nelson's following a recommendation from our eldest son, who occasionally DJs there. We booked a table for 4 pm on a Saturday and within 30 minutes, the place was full. I had a beer from the Vocation Brewery, and we also shared a bottle of very reasonably priced sauvignon blanc. We just couldn't decide what to have, as everything on the menu looked lovely. So we enlisted the help of Annie and asked her what to have. We said we were hungry, as we had walked there from Todmorden on the canal, and she suggested a selection of small plates. She thought 6 would be fine, but we plumped for seven plates of her choice. They were promptly served by the friendly staff, and every one of the dishes were just delicious. All were vegan, and neither of us are, but based on the taste, attention to detail, and presentation, we would eat there every week if we could. We finished off with an Ameretto, settled the very reasonable bill, and left for the train home wishing we lived a bit nearer. The place is dog friendly, (Spike was given a blanket and a bowl of water), friendly, atmospheric, very reasonably priced, and is a must if you visit Hebden Bridge. We will definitely be back!

Good food but rude staff who we overheard talking about us after we were unfortunately late to our booking. Shame about their unprofessionalism, made us feel uncomfortable.

Absolutely love Nelsons. The food is the best in Hebden and it's always such a great atmosphere. We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday in the snug there last night and they were super helpful and we had a great night. Thanks so much.

Visited early evening so the wine bar was fairly quiet but still had a nice feel to it and the staff were warm and welcoming. Enjoyed our food and wine and lovely to have the full menu vegan so lots of choice. Don't be put off by the entrance as the bar is down in the cellar and the street entrance doesn't look that welcoming. But well worth persisting. Would definitely visit again

Absolutely love this fully vegan dog friendly restaurant. We went as a group of friends a mix of vegans and meat eaters and everyone was very happy with the food. The food was varied, tasty and good value. We were made to feel very welcome with a large cushion provided for our greyhound which was a lovely touch. Lovely atmosphere with decor will definitely return when we visit the area again. Would recommend to anyone vegan or not.

We had a selection of small plates and everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Interesting and inventive menu which was a delight for me as a vegetarian, but equally popular with the omnivores on the table, who were surprised and delighted by the food. Good quality produce, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Dinner was accompanied by some lovely wine. Nelson’s is an absolute treat!

Exquisite and beautifully presented plant based food. Superb wines. We enjoyed two evening meals here whilst passing through Hebden on our way to Scotland. Great atmosphere, lovely polite staff and a boho chilled vibe - super dog and child friendly too.

We went to a DJ set in the night time. The atmosphere was great, the staff were mainly friendly and looked after me and my dog.The place itself was nicely set out and decorated, they moved some tables to create a dancefloor and the music was great. Met some wonderful people and had a great night.

We went to Nelson’s yesterday evening and everything we ( slightly over ordered) was exquisite! From the soft drinks to the wine to the nibbles to the small and large plates, it was mind- blowingly, palette ticklingly tasty. The atmosphere was fantastic too. The DJ , when he arrived dropped some funky tunes - loved every minute- would highly recommend. There is absolutely nothing dull about vegan 🌱 cuisine. Compliments to the chef and proprietor.

What a brilliant night dancing and dining. Excellent music and food were top notch. Great vegan menu and friendly atmosphere. Who would have thought it was rocking for all age groups.

Great to see a really thoughtful inspired vegan menu. I’d have happily tried every dish. My friend and I split the mushroom bourguignon rag pudding and the shallot tarte tatin along with a house salad, between us. We wiped both plates clean. They were both delicious! I didn’t fancy the desserts but I liked the sound of the rhubarb compôte that came with a main pudding option. They were very willing to let me have just the rhubarb without the main and even provided a ginger biscuit to go with it. The person serving us was helpful and friendly and only added to a very nice evening. Thank you Jeanette!

Wonderful LGBTQI+ friendly wine bar with incredible vegan food — not cheap, but absolutely as good as I’ve had anywhere, and well worth the price. The menu is creative and seasonal and I always want everything on it! Also dog friendly, which is a bonus.

second visit and both times the food was excellent and good value. Not large portions as the emphasis is on quality which is refreshing to see. Worth a visit particularly if you want to try something different.

This is a really chilled nicely set out wine bar with a fully plant based menu. Got the tofu burger and chips which was very good, with orange flavoured wine which was actually really nice. Staff were friendly and attentive, would recommend!

One of the very best vegan places we've experienced. The food is virtuoso vegan, the atmosphere is a great mix of relaxing, edgy, lively and welcoming. Wonderful, an absolute must for any Hebden Bridge visit.

An excellent meal in a truly lovely casual restaurant. I admit this was a vegan revelation. At no point did I eat anything that I thought could be improved with the addition of meat or dairy. Great beers and wines. Very welcoming and friendly staff.

Quite frankly one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Rag pudding ( suet pudding filled with shittake mushrooms) and roast vegetables followed by Chilli Chocolate pot. My husband enjoyed the Schnitzel which is one of the restaurant favourites. A fabulous evening with great service...

We visited on a Wednesday evening as we've been wanting to try the vegan menu for a while now.The food is fabulous with very generous portions. My partner who isn't vegan said it was Bl**dy lovely and one of the best meals he'd had in a long time.The refurbishment they have done is fantastic because it is still the Nelsons we have known and loved for over 20 years.It is truly one of Hebden's hidden gems.Goes without saying we will definitely be going back!!!

I have been to Nelsons twice in the recent past for food and on both occasions I have to say it was fantastic. I am not Vegan but enjoy meat/dairy free food. So far I’ve had the Aztec wrap and nachos, but more recently I had the Aztec special which was a chilli bean mix with rice and home made nachos, Arancini and good old chips with curry sauce, I was sharing with my son who also had a mushroom kiev. The food is so tasty and Moreish, it’s a joy to eat. The bar is great, really friendly and has a great atmosphere. I only drink water and so many times you just get it in a ‘tumbler’, not at Nelsons it was served in a lovely glass carafe with a wine glass a slice of lemon and ice, a little touch but it truly makes all the difference.I can’t recommend this place highly enough and will certainly be going back!!!

Fabulous everything, the food is vegan/vegetarian and we both had a main and a starter the food was divine the roast potatoes were actually what you expect and the sauce was full of flavour, the food generally is good and packed with flavour and if you add in the service and the ambiance it makes it an incredible experience.

Exactly what we were looking for in a night out. Great food, probably the best I have ever eaten, beautifully presented. We were really looked after by the lovely Nelsons folk. The menu has a thoughtful creative selection. The pastry on the leek and caramelised onion pie was incredible, complemented with local green veg and sauteed potatoes with a creamy lemon sauce. As for the Creme brulée, it is perfect. The drinks menu is just as thoughtful and varied and as it was a Friday night there was a little dancing later. Can't wait to take the family for a Vegan Sunday lunch

Everything at Nelson's Wine Bar was totally outstanding. The service was fantastic and the people working here were all lovely. We had three courses, plus drinks and every single course was exceptional! The chef is doing a fantastic job. For starters, we had foccacia and mozzarella dippers. We wouldn't hesitate to order both of these again, the foccacia came with divine oil and a dukka dip and the mozzarella dippers came with two sauces, both of which were equally as delicious. The dippers themselves were creamy and so flavourful! For mains we had lentil bolognese and the garlic mushrooms dish with potatoes. Both were amazing and couldn't be faulted! Beautifully presented and tasted incredible too. We both had creme brulee for dessert - such a treat to find a vegan one - which again, was exceptional in presentation and attention to detail. The berry layer gave a lovely tartness and it had a gorgeous shortbread biscuit on the side. We don't drink alcohol so the lovely server recommended an alcohol free spirit with a gingerella which was great. We loved that they had more sophisticated and special options for non-drinkers than just your standard soft drinks. Hebden Bridge is a long way for us but we will definitely be back as this is such a special place with truly outstanding food. It really was the best meal I've ever eaten out!

The Wine bar has just reopened after another dreadful flood and the place just seems to bounce back better after each wash out. World class beers and the food we had was way better than I've been served in many restaurants at double the price. The atmosphere is very relaxing and yes there were a few well behaved dogs there but they only add to the chilled out atmosphere. During a recent weekend visit, i had a boogie to some quality music provided by live DJ's and I've never seen any trouble.Whats not to like? Support your local independent business i say and i'm always happy to spend time in such a wonderful space with great food, friendly staff and he best beer choice for miles around. Well done Nelsons Wine Bar, keep it up!!

Myself and four friends visited on Yorkshire Day and had some beers and first-class food. Not everyone in our party is vegan - but despite this the food was universally praised by all. The ambience and service were both brilliant. Another reviewer has been critical of the dog-friendly policy that has always been a hallmark of this Hebden institution. Personally speaking (and as dog owner myself) I think it's great to have a few well-behaved dogs in-situ as this really adds to the atmosphere. Highly recommended all round and we'll be back. Nelsons has had a makeover and is back better than ever. Excellent choices of organic wine and beer with fantastic vegetarian/vegan food. The menu includes full dinner or bar snacks and has a fusion feel - anything from Thai pancakes to Mexican burritos or a good old Sunday roast. The wide choice doesn’t mean that quality is compromised- we all had different dishes that were equally amazing. We love Nellies!!

Food was really delicious, all four of us had 3 courses and practically cleaned our plates! Service was spot on and the atmosphere was too. An ideal evening.

We were looking forward to this as had been recommended. The place is quirky, interesting and has a good vibe. Staff very friendly. Apparently you can take your dog and a blanket and water is provided which is very sweet but We were a bit put off when the dog next to me started to lick it back end and then sniff around our table. The waitress also petted a dog and I have no idea if she then washed her hands. There were 3 dogs in the restaurant one of which was standing on one of the tables. Just not my thing. The food was vegan, which was fine but overall the food was not great. Tacos were lovely and spicy, koftas fairly tasteless, salad was good and fresh. The thali (special) was poor, pakora was really overcooked, chickpea curry just a strange flavour, and was served with crispy dry, rice. The popadom was very good. My partner managed to eat less than half.My veggie burger on focaccia looked really good but was stodgy and fairly tasteless. The fries would have been perfect if they hadn’t had so much salt on them. I ate half of the meal but not much of the heavy bread. It was a bit strange that when the waitress brought out my partners food that I was asked if I was expecting food as well, and later No mention was made of the fact that both of us had eaten about half of our main courses. The wine selection was good, lots of choice by bottle or glass.

Spent some time in Hebden Bridge recently and visited Nelsons a few times. A great selection of wines, including some natural ones, cocktails, beer etc. The vegan food is delicious and creative, my carnivorous partner loved it as well. Dog friendly and all the staff were so warm and create a really welcoming atmosphere. My definition of a perfect bar.

Regulars will be pleased to see Nelson’s back after yet another flood closely followed by the plague. But they’re back and they’re better. That phrase has a creepy reminder of “build back better” so let’s say they’re open and awesome. One of our party of five (three vegans, one veggie and this old omnivore) had been since the re-opening which is why three of us ended up having the schnitzel. Great recommendation, T. Two big changes have been made. The menu is now totally vegan and there is craft beer and lager on tap. Regulars will be pleased that it’s the same cool vibe, same friendly welcome. It was a fairly quiet night and there were two long tables that could have seated us. Our server gently suggested we might want the bench seats with the back on. But as the Bard has it, “Though I look old, yet I am strong and lusty.” The Head Gardener ended up sitting on a re-purposed vaulting box but they’d removed a couple of layers so fortunately her feet touched the floor. Thoughtful place, Nelson’s.We kicked off with a couple of bowls of olives and two portions of skin-on fries with wild garlic aioli. The fries and aioli sent me back to my youth: fairly skinny, really tasty and rammed into a pair of drainpipe jeans. Weird or what? My life as a chip. Maybe it was the double-hopped IPA doing the thinking. Beyond the delicious schnitzel Younger Son and T shared Mock Lobster and Korea Town wraps. YS bemoaned the paucity of kimchi but a blessing in my book. The puddings were a revelation. I’ve always seen the absence of dairy as a fatal barrier to great puddings. I had spotted a crème brulee on the menu and thought there goes a triumph of hope over experience. Wow, was I wrong. These puddings were sensational. Light, delicate and totally delicious. I passed on my own pudding preferring to stick rigidly to my weight-loss beer diet so I got to try all three. Happy days.YSG announced that this was the kind of vegan place you could bring your non-vegan friends, safe in the knowledge that they’ll be converts before the night has ended. This is great food in any category. Apart from the obligatory burger this vegan food stands on its own feet and doesn’t try to ape a meat-based menu. This feels like an old friend who's returned after a long absence but looks younger, fresher and cooler. Can't wait to go back.

Finally I was able to take my wife out for a meal. She is gluten and nightshade intolerant and follows a low FODMAP diet which pretty much excludes most menus. However by asking in advance the accomplished chef provided a quinoa dish with roasted pine nut and pumpkin topping and a fresh herb garnish. Absolutely delicious my wife said, as was my garlic mushroom dish. My only regret is filling up on fries ( beware the chilli dip, it takes no prisoners ) and not leaving room for any of the appetising vegan desserts. Alas we will have to return! Take the time to find this hidden gem ( look for the pot plants on the pavement outside j. It’s the best eatery we have found in Hebden. There is a selection of craft beers on tap and the new management have given the place a great atmosphere. Top marks all round.

Next level vegan food, my friend described tonight's food as 'award worthy'! Tasty natchos dish to start, then the large plate garlic mushrooms and crushed potato and house salad - highly recommended. Finished with the ginger and lime pie, perfect. Also a great selection of vegan drinks. The atmousphere was great, safe and friendly, so good to be 'out out' enjoying our Saturday night again. If your in Hebden, Nelsons deserves your attention, you wont be disappointed.

We stayed over at Hebden Bridge during our half term and we were very happy with our food and drinks. We had the lasagna which was delicious and very filling!! Thank you for a lovely evening.

The food is so delicious, I was with several friends but I had the lentil Bolognaise with portobello mushroom and Parmesa which was very tasty and satisfying . A perfectly sized portion washed down with a very nice bottle of Prosecco. The ambience was warm and welcoming, lots of laughter coming from every table and great music in the background. It was great to visit Nelsons again. They have done a really good job with renovating the place. I was blown away by the quality of the vegan-pant based food... things have definitely gone up a few notches! They now sell local draught ales which was good to see. I think I've found my new haunt...

A great Saturday night spent celebrating a birthday in an intimate venue brimming with good vibz, eclectic music and friendly bar staff serving a variety of beverages. Nice clean toilets too. Unfortunately we arrived too late for food which had been recommended but will definitely sample their delights during my next visit. Since visiting I heard the bar was affected by the recent floodings. My thoughts are with all those concerned.

Nelsons has been a favourite of ours for many years, we’ve eaten there on numerous occasions, drunk many a bottle of wine and danced the night away ... We ate there recently and were delighted that the new chef had updated the menu... the food was even more delicious , vibrant flavours, interesting combinations of textures and ideas ,, along with beautiful presentation . As always the staff were friendly and welcoming... it’s always a great evening at the bar,!
