Lovely place, amazing service and genuinely nice people running it! Mixed platter is great and the fresh bread is incredible! Would deffo recommend!

Just had a meal with over 40 people which was accomplished well, all meals were hot and tasty and the service was amazing.

My friends and I came to break fast and we were greeted quickly and an additional seat added without a problem. The waitress asked us if we are fasting and we said yes which I think was a nice touch as they know to not bring the food out until iftar. The portions were HUGE and the food promptly came out when it was time to break fast which was great. The customer service, food quality and vibes were great we did not feel rushed to leave at all and all of the staff were super courteous and attentive. Great value for money and really lovely dining experience we will return again.

I have had the pleasure of dining at NEF Istanbul on multiple occasions, and each experience has been nothing short of exceptional. I highly recommend it to anyone exploring Cowley Road. The food consistently exceeds expectations and leaves a lasting impression.

Food and Service is good the toilets unfortunately lets the restaurant down. The most important part of a restaurant is hygiene and cleanliness, would be nice to have a clean lavatories

Had the chicken shish with rice, chips and salad, my partner had the mixed grill, which came with a side of flatbread, olives and dips, they were both absolutely delicious, so full of flavour 😋 best meal I've had out in a long time! Highly recommended 👌🏻 my only issue is how close the tables are next to each other, which is a little uncomfortable as we were there for a Valentines meal but it didn't effect us having a lovely meal together. Will definitely be going back again 😊

Service is good and it was super packed and vibrant, but would I come back for the food? No. Food was not delicious. Only the baba ganoush was good. I had the lentil soup, ezme salad, and chicken shish, all were fresh but very bland.

Really authentic Turkish dishes, I know the Turkish cuisine so I was really impressed by how the food was presented and tasted. The staff was overally kind and attentive. Would definitely eat here again.

The BBQ Ribs were a standout, beautifully prepared, and bursting with flavour. The meats were cooked to perfection, neither under nor overdone. Just now I tried to inform the team that myself and my party were going to be late. I told them my name, the time for booking. But nope. Their system was shut down for checking reservations. I have my booking reference in the email and all - but no, their system was closed or some such nonsense. We had a table booked for 15 people and after just over an hour, staff came to the table and said that they have people waiting outside for our table! No explanation, no apology as to whats happened, why they over booked, just started to clear our table while we were still sitting there. I had half unfinished dinner infront of me which was taken away. No time for dessert or a second round of drinks. Strange how they treated us considering there was another table of 15-20people already there when we arrived and not leaving when we were asked to leave!! Special treatment for some people? Overall it was extremely unpleasant, food very average and not so nice athmosphere.

I like these places that have a cool vibe and a layout where you can actually have space to chill. The staff was very nice, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was excellent. I like that balance where they are not hurrying you along but you can also get service quickly if you need anything. We had a nice dinner and enjoyed the food and the service.

Booked this restaurant via NEF Istanbul's website and received booking email confirmation on 20th October. We were visiting from away for the night in Oxford. There were 9 of us so would have been a good booking for them. We arrived in plenty for time for our booking. When we arrived the front desk man said they did not have our booking. I thought he was joking! I showed him the email and he said that this had happened on a couple of occasions and they could not fit us in! I was totally shocked and they made no effort to help us at all initially. I then pointed out that we had travelled quite a way and it was potentially a very good booking for them. They then said they would take my number and may have something in a half hour maybe an hour. We then proceeded to find somewhere else on the Cowley Road. We ended up at La Kesh. They were the most welcoming and accommodating people and fitted us all in on a busy Saturday night. The food was delicious. NEF tried to call but we had already sorted something out. In my view NEF should have helped us from the start and not turned us away. The attitude of staff was not good and the whole experience was outrageous.

I have been to many Turkish restaurants, in the UK, UAE and Turkey. This one was bland and staff felt on the edge. They charged us for extra bread but never served! They charged £4.75 for an unbranded bottle of water and also charged a service charge of around 13£! I would love a tip for service if the service is great but adding to the bill is ridiculous! This is not USA, it's UK! Probably will never return!

Had an amazing experience here yesterday for my birthday with a bunch of friends (we were 8 in total). Hakki and all the other staff were absolutely brilliant and the food was spot on. I had the adana kebab which was honestly the best I've tasted in the UK and everyone else told me their food was great too. At the end, the staff surprised me with a slice of cake on the house. Perfect way to end the evening (along with some Turkish tea!) Would definitely recommend!!

Large restaurant, with impeccable service. We were staying in the Premier Inn, and got a bus to the Cowley Road eateries. Hadn’t researched, but liked the look of this family restaurant. Very good tender lamb shish. Nicely dressed salads. Delicious bulgar and rice. Generous baklava and ice cream. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. We had a lovely bottle of Turkish white wine too. All good.

Last August I booked for a group of 25: staff were VERY accommodating, food was excellent (multiple platters) with good size portions, the restaurant was calm and true to its Turkish vibe. It was a special occasion and I am so glad that I chose NEF Istanbul Restaurant. I now visit regularly, nothing beats feeling comfortable.

I had a fantastic lunch here today. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful, the staff were kind and friendly and all of our meals were very delicious. I really liked the bread as well as the rice. I hope to return here soon.

I paid £22.95 for mixed grill and all it had was 3 chicken pieces, 2 lamb pieces, 1 chop piece, 1 chicken shish kebab, rice and salad. Very small portions and overpriced food. Expensive food on top of that you have to pay a separate service charge! Don't go here. Go to bodrums restaurant instead. It's cheaper, you get bigger portions, also no service charge there.

We stopped by at this little gem and had the most fantastic experience. The food was amazing and beautiful presented. The flavour is everything was just spot on. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I shall certainly be going back time and time again. Highly recommended.

Very expensive and not good quality of food

Went to this restaurant as the food looked really good. When I got there, I noticed there was no halal sign on the door. I asked the waitress whether the food served there was halal and she confirmed it was and so, I asked whether there was any sign or certificate confirming this. The waitress just kept responding that the food was halal and then said Turkey is a Muslim country and they served Turkish food, but seemed to ignore me whenever I asked whether there was any certificate/sign. In the end I left without eating because I was surprised that the restaurant offered nothing to verify the halal status of its meat.

Excellent food. I ordered grilled chicken with rice. The rice was aromatic and nicely cooked. The chicken was lovely as well but a bit too high on sodium. I loved the starter bread with the sauces. Outside sitting area was nice. Only downside was the service time. Took like 45 mins for an order of 2 people but I'd say it was worth the wait at the end. Overall a nice Turkish restaurant if you're visiting Oxford.

I've been couple of times before to Istanbul restaurant and everything was great. Last time I went with my girlfriend which was her first time. We was wondering that they forgot about the starters because we had already finished with the main course and everything, after 40 minutes they brought the starters and the bill which we didn't ask about it. Totally poor service and disrespectful for my opinion. I don't like to complain when I go to eat outside because I've been in that position and I know how bad feeling it is. Anyway I hope you will improve the service.
