Wowsers. Totally won the lottery with this place!! The vada was perfectly cooked, paper dosa crispy and full of flavour, and masala dosa absolutely spot on. Not to mention the heat, depth of flavour, and absolute freshness of the sambar, coconut chutney and tomato chutney were world class. If I could, I’d give this place an 11/10!

I have been wanting some South Indian food for several years now and noticed this little gem on South End, Croydon. Mustered the troops and headed down on a Saturday night, early on, it must be noted. Great food and authentic as I have spent several months in South India. Definitely will return!

Very quiet on a Wednesday night, but then so was everywhere else. The food is excellent. Really good curry house staples and some Kerlian dishes that were new to me. As usual we couldn't finish and the staff boxed everything up. So that's another dinner already sorted out. A few Cobras and Becks Blue. Excellent food. Excellent service. Not the flashiest restaurant in Croydon's curry house scene. But one of the best.

Very impressive food, some of the best Indian we've had for some time! The Mutton Masala was amazing with lots of meat, the fish curry was fabulous and the cheese naan was so full of cheese. Great food and nice restaurant.

Found staff to be very pleasant however was disappointed with what I got, large kebab looked well packed but half filled with salad chicken pakora best I have had for a while, veg pakora was quite dry, overall not very good value for money

My wife spotted mice under the table next to us and pointed to the lady who served us but that lady seemed very casual about it. The way mice were loitering around in the restaurant looked to me that they were permanent residents of the place. Staff and management didn't apologize or tried to make any good for it. It put us off the dinner, so we got up, paid the bill and left ASAP. Will NEVER VISIT AGAIN in here.

My friend recommended this place as we were staying in a hotel nearby. The food was amazing! They also serve Halal, which was the reason mainly we chose. Didn't expyfood to be so delicious!

Spicy food, service extremely poor. Be prepared to wait for over an hour for your food to be served. We ordered Paper roast dosa(as the menu explained “crispy pan cake”). It was a normal plain dosa, when we told the man in charge he took it back and brought back another plain dosa and didn’t seem very bothered at all. We also ordered salt and pepper fish and mutton chukka, very very spicy and there were hardly just 2 pieces of fish. After over an hour of wait we got our main dishes, pepper chicken and chettinad chicken and after waiting for another 10 minutes they served us garlic naan. We wanted to order more naan but the lady tried to discourage us saying it will take time. All in all a pathetic experience!!!

The food here is really bad. We ordered chicken biryani and it could hardly be categorised as veg pulao. We ordered dosas and the masala and sambhar were quite plain. Won’t recommend this to anyone

Not recommended! Despite the high ratings and good looking food, our south Indian dinner experience left much to be desired. We ordered mixed uttapam, mysore masala dosa, regular masala dosa, masala tea, and mango lassi. The uttapam had an average taste with a slightly sour note, while the dosas and their masala filling lacked the usual flavor profile one would expect from the dish. The coconut chutney was disappointingly bland, and the sambhar suffered from a lack of salt and flavor, all falling short of expectations. The masala tea was probably the only thing that was passable. Post this flavorless experience, we chose not to pay the service charge due to the unsatisfactory food quality, which prompted an unfavorable response from the man in charge, who wasn't even very interested in enquiring what the issues were. Despite the chef's claimed 25+ years of experience, the food didn't reflect it. Given these issues, the steep pricing cannot be justified, thereby the establishment not being value for money.

We ordered paper dosa, uthappam and pomfret. They mentioned pomfret as their special for the day.. it was an amazing food I had after coming to UK. We came from Brighton specifically to eat in this restaurant. They should definitely open a branch in Brighton. Service is very good.

Amazing food and service. One of the rare restaurants in Croydon which centre around serving fresh food of excellent culinary quality. You will not find some random pasta or Western dishes on their menu - there is a pure focus on South Indian food. Nor will you find heaps of cheap oil on top, as many Indian places do. We tried several dishes, and we were really amazed. The waitress was so polite and made the atmosphere very nice, so this just made our day.

Amazing experience all round. Have had takeaway from here before but went and ate in for the first time as my dad came to visit us. Everything we ordered was delicious. The chilli paneer, the fish chetininad and the lamb kadai were our favourites (the lamb was very spicy but well worth it) The service was also really attentive and friendly. The chef even came out and chatted to us and made sure we enjoyed the food. Can't wait to go back. Thanks for a great experience

Had dinner with my family here on Saturday. The quality and presentation of the food was amazing. I especially loved the service provided by all the staff, they were extremely attentive and were very accommodating to our requests. The ambience is lovely! A must visit.

Not recommended at all.. Masala dosa was like pancake /very soggy.

I had a take-away from here on saturday for four of us to celebrate my birthday. I love curry, but I was sadly disappointed as everything was over spiced, even the sag prawn puree was so spicy and not flavourful at all like other places. I definitely not go back.

I have visited this restaurant last week during the closing time but they gave us a warm welcome. all the order we made are really very nice and tastes superbly.

Glad we arrived early as we didn't book and the place was full by the time we left, this was a Wednesday evening so recommend booking if you can. Food was great my only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I prefer a fluffy naan, where here it is served more like a flat bread but still very tasty. Service also really good and very reasonably priced.

We ordered medu Vada, Kerala parota and butter roti. Pros : Roti was very good Cons : Felt frozen parota is heated and served Vada was reheated - fine as we asked Vada as evening snack Chettinadu chicken - didn't taste like one

The best South Indian food in Croydon and beyond. The food is incredibly tasty and authentic, and the hospitality is beyond measure.

The starters that I had, chilli paneer, vada & idli were all delicious, especially chilli paneer. The main course I was not very satisfied with. Dosa masala was fine, but the dosa was not crispy enough. Sambhar salt & tangy balance was not good. Tomato chutney was very average, coconut chutney was fine. Otthapam was cooked well but the material itself it was made up of was very tangy. I had mango lassi as well, overall a nice flavor but a bit too sweet.

Wir hatten unser Essen online aufgrund der guten Bewertung bestellt. Als wir das Essen zum vereinbarten Termin um 18:20 Uhr abholen wollten, stellte sich heraus, dass wir eine E-Mail bekommen hatten, weil das Essen erst 45 Minuten später fertig werden sollte. Das waren leider nicht allzu erfreulich. Wir haben deshalb gewartet und noch mal telefonisch angerufen: plötzlich konnten wir das Essen innerhalb weniger Minuten abholen! Leider war dann die Qualität nicht so toll und wir hatten den Eindruck, dass das Essen schwach und recht wenig war. Zu mindestens schmeckte es so. Wir kennen es auch so, dass es dazu Reis gibt. Das war hier leider auch nicht der Fall.

Navaratna serves Indian cuisine with its utmost authenticity. The items are of perfect taste and the right portion. The staff are extremely polite and the ambience is too good. My personal preference is non vegetarian. However the vegan options are also top notch. In one word அருமை (Awesome)

I went to this restaurant for my grandads 80th birthday, a party of 12, the food was outstanding, fresh and flavourful and the staff was extremely attentive. Highly recommend for a taste of South India. Well done Navaratna!

FRESH TASTING FOOD A cosy place, with a good amount of spacing between tables. The food was as fresh as it could be and tasted delicious. I had a Mutton Chukka starter which had a good chilli kick to it. The Kadai Lamb was a flavourful dish too. I’d say that this kitchen offers a variation of the usual Indian Cuisine and I welcome their ideas. The staff were friendly and I would definitely come back to try more of their food. Toilets were clean & tidy.

Visited this place for first time and this restaurant proved to be very authentic Indian food. Chef customizes the food depending on how you need it and so this was freshly prepared and well made. Definitely one worth visiting if you are around Croydon.

Navratna hosted a surprise 40th birthday party for a close family member. They were very generous in accommodating us on a Monday (when they are usually closed). We were given the entire restaurant and facilitated early entry allowing us to decorate and re-arrange the seating. Food was lovely as always and well presented despite the larger number of guests. The chef and staff were very attentive and polite throughout and served with humility. Navratna provided a memorable evening and we are very thankful for their hospitality. Highly recommended.

Was craving for some minute Dosa and tried Navratan for the first time. Found a hidden gem on the Croydon South end. great chef & excellent service. Family had a great Sunday dinner and ready for the Monday.

My family and I came here on sunday for my post birthday celebration. The staff were friendly and accomodating, the food was very tasty and bursting with flavour; the Lamb biryana and dosa was really nice. I would come here again!

This is the best Southern Indian we have had outside of southern India. What an undiscovered gem. Charming staff and great value food. We are working our way through the whole menu and are almost reluctant to share this place.

We went to Navaratna for my partner's Birthday. The food was incredibly tasty and fresh and the service and overall experience were also spot on with the staff being extremely accommodating and attentive. The restaurant was happy for me to bring my own cake which they then presented in a fabulous way for the Birthday boy which was a lovely touch. Everyone in our party had such a great evening, I’m already excited to return and try some more of their delicious dishes.

Good ambience and good food. We ordered Chicken chukka, dosa and mushroom rice, the taste was very good that I felt I’m at home. Highly recommend chicken chukka with parotta here.

We ordered 2 rasmalai (£6.50) for dessert amongst our dinner. When we went for collection an old man said they don’t have any rasmalai so they are giving us goolab jamun. We refused taking this and asked for a refund. The man said to call fusion food (ordered online) and ask for the refund as he can’t give us the refund. We explained what if fusion food refuse to refund us. The old man opened the till to give us the money and instead of refunding us £6.50 he gave us £5.20 and when we asked that’s not the full amount, he goes as that’s for the service charge. £1.30 for a service charge that we already paidz Do you take us customers as idiots!!??? We already paid service charge and take away charge. That man got some serious attitude issues. He needs to learn manners. He came running after us in the street. As much as your food is amazing please teach you staff some amazing manners as well.

We have started eating here recently. The food is always delicious. The lady and man always serve us so friendly. I highly recommend here for a great dining experience.

Old manager was very rude. He said one curry will not be sufficient between two people and made me to order 1 extra and finally it wasted lots of food. Also he charged service and tips without consent. Beware!!!

Very bad old gentleman, he charged me charges which I am not suppose to pay and he was very rude. Our first experience was very bad. We will never come back and recommend. Chapati was aweful, only half cooked.

I ordered Masala Dosa and the sambhar was cold and my father was having chapati with Dal and the chapati was half cooked and it seems like it wasn’t freshly cooked may be frozen. Overall very bad experience.

We had a very lovely meal at Navratna. For starters we ordered chilli idli and chilli paneer, and for mains 2 paper roast dosas and 1 masala dosa. The starters were very tasty, had lots of sauce and seemed very fresh. They were very good sized portions too. The dosas too were a very good size, nice and crispy, and were paired with lovely chutneys and sambhar. The service and cleanliness of the restaurant was very good, and we will definitely be returning!

I have been coming here for years with a friend and we always thoroughly enjoy our meal here. This is a top spot for Dosa and authentic South Indian Cuisine. We have the same dishes all the time paneer majestic, chicken 65 to start with, followed by one of the delicious dosas on offer. And at every visit the food is delicious, fresh and tastes the same as our first visit which is the the reason why we keep coming!!!. We always feel welcome and receive excellent customer care here. The chef also makes an appearance to greet customers and is open to recieving feedback from customers. We are so pleased that they are still open after the pandemic. Such a gem in the heart of Croydon.

I loved eating at this place up until my very recent visit to celebrate one very important life milestone. Everything that admired from this place is absolutely turned upside down. Welcome from the staff to food wait times, food quality (the biggest fall) and general waiting manners and etiquette. The final blow automatically added 10% service charge on a 4 party table (2 adults, 2 children) without consulting. Certainly 1 customer less for you to deal for good. Good luck.

Lovely food, lots of variety and good service

We went to Navaratna's for my husband's birthday dinner. The highlights were the mango lassi, lemon rice and the paneer masala curry. I only had veg so cannot comment on the meat dishes but it was nice that the restaurant was both veg and non-veg friendly which made it easier for my family with different requirements. The staff were friendly and made sure dishes were nut-free when required. The ambience was pleasant and it was all at a very reasonable price.
