Nando's - Portsmouth in Portsmouth

Food was cold no apology I complained and they brought another out which was the wrong burger.No staff member approached to see how our meal was I had to hunt down a member staff. When paying I was told to wait while the staff member finished their conversation.

Smelt like a toilet, music was too loud, slow and poor service. Food is average from my experience, however this might be different to others.

chicken was served raw. The chef came out to assure me I was getting a refund but never apologised.

This was a lovely restaurant, the service was amazing and fast. However our chicken was pink and the corn on the cob was barely cooked. The corn tasted like it just came out of a field. The chicken has pubes on it, how disgusting. Would you want to eat chicken and corn like this?

We ordered a starter of nuts drinks and two main meals. The food was good. Usually the starter and drinks are served first. But this wasn’t the case and it was served all together. Therefore we couldn’t eat the starter. I have a disability so my husband had to get the drinks therefore his food was getting cold. I go to Nando’s in several places and this is the first that this has happened. It’s not good service and when l mentioned it to the waiters they didn’t seem that bothered. Then the desserts didn’t turn up so we asked a different waiter who assisted with this and he agreed with us that this whole issue should not have occurred. Because of him l may decide to return but the service needs to be addressed by the manager.

Always a great choice when you’re hungry, it’s one of the busiest restaurants at Gunwharf Quays, so if you don’t book you may have to wait for a table, restaurant is large so can deal with big parties. As with all Nando’s you pay before you get your food, but as the food is always cooked to order, it’s never a problem.

Always quick food service and delicious food. Brilliant place to pop in for a quick lunch or dinner when in gunwarf. 10/10 will be back

Für ein Mittagessen haben wir uns für Nandos entschieden. Wir hatten als Vorspeise die Halloumi-Sticks mit der Chili-Marmelade, sehr lecker, Hummus, den wir sehr lecker fanden, aber der „Drizzle“ für den Hummus schmeckte muffig und alt, und die Oliven, die auch lecker waren. Als Hauptgerichte hatten wir die Boneless Platter, einmal medium und einmal BBQ gewürzt. Beides gut, die Hähnchenbrust leider sehr trocken. Die Würzung kam uns praktisch irrelevant vor - vor allem, weil die Saucen am Tisch den Hauptgeschmack liefern. Als Beilagen hatten wir den Maiskolben, der gut, aber unhandlich war, die Erbsen, die überraschend scharf waren, den Coleslaw, der überraschend kräuterig war, und die Peri-Pommes, die überraschend mild waren. Zusätzlich eine „Perinaise“, also gewürzte Mayo, die überraschend wenig scharf war. Die Menschen im Service waren zwar sehr freundlich, taten aber auch nur das allernötigste - so war unser Tisch zum Beispiel ziemlich klebrig. Das Ambiente bei Nandos ist nicht unser Fall, es ist laut und wuselig, aber das ist bei Nandos halt so. Für die Menge und Qualität des Essens war der Preis mit rund 47 EUR gerade so noch okay.

A huge Nando’s with lots of indoor seating as well as some outdoor tables. It was surprisingly busy when we visited on a Tuesday lunchtime, however there were lots of staff so the service was fairly efficient & the food arrived quicker than we expected. I had the Great Imitator wrap (minus chilli jam) which was delicious.

Seems to me there must have been a work do the night before as all the waiting staff were walking around like headless chickens, doing well not very much. It's also possible there was a plate stacking contest going on in the kitchen as no one attempted to the take any of the plates out for fear of perhaps upsetting the chef. I lost count of the number of waiting staff who walked past the ever increasing pile of plates without taking any to the increasingly hungry customers, but todays record held by one none interested staff member was four laps of the the restaurant!

Arriving just after 8 on a Saturday night, we were told there'd be a 10 minute wait for a table, which is exactly how long it took. We ended up in a nice corner table by a window. After a very, very disappointing takeaway experience from a different location, I'd been persuaded to try the dine-in option. Redemption. The food arrived in good time, piping hot, and delicious. Can't fault the service or the atmosphere - seemed like everyone else was having a good night out too.

Nando's are great for anyone with dietary requirements. Very friendly staff including the manager who had to take the gluten free order

A busy Nando’s in Gunwharf Quay. Very clean and well staffed. The tables were cleared and wiped quickly and the sauce bottles all filled up, plenty of clean cutlery (I’ve had to wait for stocks to be replenished in other branches). There was some sort of glitch with our order and it went awol. After 20 mins I mentioned it to a staff member who immediately looked into it, then fetched the manager who was lovely. They weren’t sure what had happened to the order but he put it through again and it arrived quickly with sincere apologies and the offer of a free dessert. Glitches happen but it’s they way they are handled which gives a true feel for the ethos of the organisation. I was really happy with the way the staff responded to this. The manager in particular ( didn’t catch his name unfortunately) was great.

Absolutely gross. Ordered for home delivery and while eating my burger noticed it was raw. I am 8 months pregnant. I called up to complain and just told to send a photo to the store and IF I get food poisoning then to contact head office.

It’s been a while since I visited this Nandos and since I last visited, it has been tastefully redecorated and enlarged. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and always smiled. Nandos is no longer a cheap meal out, but what you are guaranteed is tasty chicken, chips and sweetcorn that makes a visit worthwhile. A good meal as usual, thank you.

Arrived Sunday lunchtime and asked for a table for two - was told the wait would be about 10 minutes, so gave name and was added to the list. Was asked to wait outside. After half an hour of waiting outside in a seating area which was a freezing cold wind tunnel which stank of cigarette smoke, with numerous others coming and going and being given tables ahead of us, we gave up and had our lunch elsewhere. There were some others who had given up and gone by their names were called and several other customers waiting outside had faces like thunder, so we weren't the only ones who were messed about by Nandos this afternoon. How hard can it be to be honest about the waiting times?

I am gluten free .never been to nandos before. All the family wanted to go so I thought I would give it a go .I must say I had a great experience. The manager advised me of what I could have he took my order do he could make sure my order was put together in a safe area with no cross contamination. This put me at ease. The food was lovely and I had no stomach issues. Will definitely return.

Nando’s doesn’t need a review or to advertise because everyone knows exactly what they are getting, fantastic service and fantastic food time and time again, Gunwharf branch has had a refurbishment and it might be a bit bigger now, so the wait time is shorter for a table, but a busy restaurant says it all! I would love to post the photos of my food, but we ate it before I could remember to do so.

Excellent quality and service on Boxing Day. It was mad busy - but the food was hot and the service excellent . We were worried about coming here - but needn’t have been . We’ll done !

Tuvimos una comida agradable y nos sentimos seguros con las medidas de Covid implementadas. Las mesas estaban bien espaciadas y todo se gestionaba desde la mesa. El personal era amable y la comida de alta calidad. Aunque el menú se ha reducido ligeramente, esto parece bastante justo dada la situación de Covid. Un comentario es que es una pena que el menú vegetariano se haya reducido tanto.

Tenía el peor servicio al cliente de Nandos Gunwharf. No hemos estado en Nandos durante bastante tiempo y estamos deseando ir a uno de nuestros restaurantes favoritos. Esperando 2 horas para conseguir una mesa, estábamos ansiosos por tener un buen pollo. Sin embargo, en primer lugar se equivocaron en mi pedido y dijeron que cambiarían el pollo al orden correcto, dejando atrás las papas fritas. Luego regresaron diciendo que no tenían el medio pollo que pedimos y ofrecieron una alternativa. Pensando que nuestra mesa será prioritaria, esperamos más de 15 minutos por este pollo mientras las patatas fritas se enfrían y nadie tuvo la decencia de decirnos que el pollo tardaría un tiempo. A la camarera que nos atendió no le importó que esperáramos todo ese tiempo y nadie nos dijera cuánto tiempo sería la espera. Teniendo hambre comencé a comer las patatas fritas que en ese momento estaban frías y eran desagradables y mi novia no quería comer su comida mientras yo esperaba, así que su comida se enfrió. La camarera ni siquiera trató de hacer que la experiencia fuera un poco mejor para nosotros, solo trató de justificar lo que salió mal. Dijo su disculpa con una actitud de "no me importa". La comunicación y la ética laboral definitivamente faltan en ese restaurante.

Hola, estoy trabajando con deliveroo, tuve un gran problema con el gerente de tu restaurante en Portsmouth, como debes saber que el acceso al Gunwharf es difícil por la situación a veces usas mucho tiempo para llegar a tu restaurante. El problema fue que cuando llegué a nandos un tipo me dijo que mis pedidos fueron rechazados porque tenían 5 minutos esperándome. Fue molesto porque le explico que tengo que caminar para llegar a escuchar. Traté de hablar con el gerente y fue muy, muy grosero conmigo y me llamó poco profesional por correo electrónico porque envió un mensaje a mi empresa. Al mismo tiempo que todo pasa recibo otro otro de nandos y esperé 12 minutos, recibí el pedido de otro chico y le dije si puedo hablar con el gerente, él duda y la primera vez y finalmente llama. al gerente y le dije que le enviaré el correo electrónico para esto porque no entiendo que él hizo eso si conoce toda la situación y debemos ser pacientes, y si puedo esperar 12 minutos a que la comida esté lista. Puedes esperarme solo 5 minutos, solo mírame como un loco, soy un cliente habitual de nandos pero nunca antes me sentí tan mal trabajando contigo. También le pregunté al "gerente" por el nombre y él simplemente dijo "voys" o algo así porque no estaba claro cuándo se lo pedí. The food was a good Nando’s standard. Service especially quick with attentive staff. Nice spacious design with lots of tables.

Arrived just after midday, and at first I thought this was a big mistake as it seemed really busy. However, we didn’t have to wait as long as originally told and managed to get sorted quickly which was nice.I’ve visited lots of Nando’s over the years so there’s no point going into great detail regarding the menu, although I would recommend the new(ish) butternut squash and sweet potato burger. It’s flavour can be impacted by the “marinade” you select though.BUT - Nando’s; why did you wipe all my loyalty points since my last visit?! I was on a red reward!!!

Fuimos a almorzar un domingo mientras hacía compras en Gunwharf, nos dijeron que sería una espera de 25 minutos, lo que esperábamos era la hora del almuerzo y había una gran área de espera para acomodarnos. Para ser justos, probablemente solo tuvimos que esperar 10 minutos y de todos modos nos dio la oportunidad de elegir lo que queríamos.Se sentó arriba y el área convenientemente tiene su propio mostrador de pedidos, por lo que parecía que el lugar estaba bien equipado para lidiar con los períodos ocupados, obviamente si ha tenido nandos antes de conocer el simulacro en términos de ordenar y pagar primero, obteniendo sus propias bebidas, salsas y cubiertos etc.La comida era rápida, caliente y fresca, mi esposa estaba un poco decepcionada con su hamburguesa al atardecer que solo tenía un pedazo de hoja de espinacas como ensalada, pero mi hijo y yo estábamos contentos con la nuestra. Tuve la ensalada de la casa con pollo, tenía un montón de aceitunas, tomates frescos y pepino.Las bebidas no tienen fondo si son refrescos y le sugiero que pida una dieta (30 p más barata) y luego elija la bebida que desee (impuesto al azúcar).Los baños estaban limpios y ordenados, el personal era amable y cortés. Feliz con la experiencia general.

Sabes lo que obtienes con los nandos, de todos los que he estado nunca he tenido una mala comida, y esto no fue una excepción, la comida estaba caliente y deliciosa, el personal estaba un poco gruñón, pero nada que te desanimara, Aunque creo que son un poco caros, la comida es deliciosa.

We really enjoy going to Nando’s, but if you are not there early be prepared for a long wait. Excellent food as usual. Always have the butterfly chicken, as no bones, and always cooked to perfection.

You always know what you're going to get at Nandos. It is a cheap eats venue but the staff make the experience and you can tell they have fun working here.

Esta crítica se deja con la bendición de mis amigos. Visité hoy a la hora del almuerzo con 2 personas con discapacidad visual. Tenía un perro guía con él, pero el otro no. Si bien el tiempo de espera fue fantástico y la comida deliciosa, había un miembro del personal esperando las mesas que claramente no estaba capacitado para interactuar con aquellos con necesidades adicionales. Fui a buscar una bebida para uno de ellos y volví a la mesa para ver que la comida había llegado y que simplemente estaba "tirada" sobre la mesa. Ninguno de mis compañeros con discapacidad visual sabía dónde se dejaba la comida, y mucho menos cuál era la suya. Creo que podría ser útil si la gerencia capacitara a su personal sobre cómo atender adecuadamente a las personas con discapacidad visual.

Quite a busy branch . Went there for lunch .. I orderd butterfly chicken with 2 sides ( Spicy rice and chips) . Very fast service ! didnt take long for the meal to be served

Siamo stati qui di venerdi' a cena, abbiamo aspettato il tavolo una ventina di minuti. Ho assaggiato il grilled chicken burger (lemon & herb) con aggiunta di grilled halloumi e di contorno peri salted chips e roasted sweet potatoes and butternut squash. Tutto buono, ma senza essere nulla di troppo particolare.

My boyfriend and I fancied some lunch so we decided to come to Nando’s. Great food, however, my Corn on the Cob was burnt one side and on the other it was hardly cooked. Little disappointed but hoping it was a one off.

why do people rave over Nando's ? we visited on the last day of our short holiday, over the previous four days we had eaten at an independent Italian, A country pub, Cote Brasserie and a fish and chip shop, all served better food at better value than Nando's, this is now the 3rd I've been dragged in to and hopefully its the last.

A very average Nando’s restaurant it’s a shame as the location is very nice and the atmosphere is very nice however the food wasn’t great compared to other Nando’s restaurants I have visited. The portion size was very disappointing I ordered a grilled chicken wrap with chips and garlic bread. The garlic bread was very nice and defiantly not the disappointment however there was hardly any garlic on it compared to other Nando’s restaurants have done. Also the wrap here was quite dry and the chicken was rubbery in consistency. The chips came out looking like some of them was missing. I’ve attached two photos of the same meal I always get whenever I visit a Nando’s. One if from fareham Nando’s and the other is from Portsmouth Nando’s I think the pictures speak for themselves.

We were staying in a hotel nearby and decided to go for dinner in Nando’s. We have one in the town where we live but it is a pain if it is busy as it takes ages to get a table even if there are ones clear unlike this one where the staff worked hard to clear, clean and make ready tables as they were vacated. Excellent staff arranging this so the wait for a table was kept to a minimum !! Excellent staff and great food what more can be said!! Highly recommend!!

Best food you can is Nando’s. best of the best the amazing sauces they make, mouthwatering. To be honest while just writing this review my mouth is full is water just by taking name of nandos 🤣😍

Superb food, excellent service to seating at a busy time. All Nando’s should be the same but this one is extra special - well done to the manager and staff.

We've often visited when in Gunwharf Quays and a few times travelled there especially. Another hit with the kids, can always rely on a good meal and the staff are very helpful.

We got to Nando’s in Gunwharf Quays at 10 in the evening. There was only one guy taking orders that took 15 minutes to start helping us as he was having a great chat and laugh with one of his mates. He then took our order and the food came surprisingly quick. The chicken was still raw, the sweet potato mash was watery and tasteless and the corn was not done properly. I asked to speak to someone about my food and I was told to wait; in the meanwhile no one came to check on the food because they were too busy cleaning up the other tables and shouting that they can’t be bothered to work more than 10:30 and about how they “ felt like they will never leave that sh....hole”. I am a big fan of Nando’s but I have to say that i’ve never witnessed such bad customer service and poor quality of food - got some great food poisoning after as well.

A lot of friends have told me to eat here, so I did. And it was... OK. I mean, I’ve had better meals and I’ve had worse. For me, not really worth all of the hype surrounding it. Prices were OK for what I got. Food was pretty good, and left me feeling satisfied. Service was average.

Staff at Nando really helpful and friendly. Shown to a table quickly. Food ordered which took a bit of time to order. Food arrived quickly and we had a quite a selection of meals. They were all well presented and yummy. Peru peri chips were a little over seasoned tbh but otherwise clean plates. Merlot wine was good too. Waiters and waitresses were good at clearing the table and checking everything was ok. We would visit this Nando again. Thanks.

Nando's is a chicken place. So not the place that vegetarians normally go to. But they have really decent veggie options too.

Went here this evening whilst at Gunwharf Quays. I asked for a table for 1 and was told I would have to wait 5 minutes. At least 10 people walked in a were seated before I was offered a table 20 minutes before I arrived. After 20 minutes I decided it was a dirty chav dive so I left when some scruffy Nando’s mutant shouted my name.

I took my daughter to nandos on a sunny Saturday and the restaurant was very busy, we were told to expect a twenty minute wait, nice that they were up front

Decidimos entrar para el almuerzo. La apertura a las 11: 30 significaba que teníamos buenos asientos, como primero allí. Pedimos comidas separadas para obtener los chiles de recompensa. Muy sabroso, y entrega rápida. El truco para sentarse es llegar poco después de abrir, de lo contrario, prepárese para esperar una mesa. El yogurt congelado de mango es muy bueno, pero no muy a menudo. Solo lo he tenido una vez fuera de muchas visitas.

Somos habituales del artillero Nando y podemos decir que nunca hemos experimentado un servicio tan malo en mi vida, ambos ordenamos al mismo tiempo, estaba bastante ocupado, así que lo dejamos unos buenos 25 minutos antes de quejarnos de que llegó a 35 minutos después de que ordenamos que vinieran y dijeran que perdieron nuestro pedido, o que lo llevaran a la mesa equivocada, cómo esperan que usted se sienta satisfecho después de que este comportamiento bs me supera, ya habían pasado unas cuantas mesas. ¡Incluso empezamos a comer! Fumar no es la palabra, es seguro decir que ya no somos asiduos

Situated two doors up from the multiplex cinema in the heart of Gunwharf Quays, the current shopping centre of Portsmouth, Nando's is a bright and bustling restaurant. While you can expect to wait up to 25 minutes or more at peak times, the communal seating area is comfortable with a friendly and excitable atmosphere and a great place for people watchers of the world.

I have been coming to Nando’s for a long time and it has always impressed me with their food. Service is good and friendly staff.

Standard of food is excellent and consistently so. Not very warm in the place though, and felt rushed to vacate the table - plates were cleared almost before the last mouthful.

Food isn`t the best and you have to queue for it for a long time and then even longer wait to be served. Staff is bored and couldn`t care less about you. Location is great though and the restaurant itself is very nice and clean.

Went in at lunch time on a Sunday. It was packed and had to wait 20 mins for a table. Waiting area is quite small and we felt we were in the way. However I can imagine the peaks and troughs of trade here go from one extreme to another.

This restaurant is my local Nandos, and I'm always thankful as it's the best Nandos I've been to, and I've been to a few. I've never had cause to say anything negative. Having seen all the publicity about gravy, and tasted it in Southampton, I was looking forward to having it again. I was slightly surprised, particularly when every staff member was wearing t-shirts publicising gravy, to be told there was no gravy. Maybe have a change of shirts if something isn't available?

The food was cold and undercook when it come out to us we had a main meals before the staters even come out and the staff were rude and unhelpful never again

We got served by a lovely lady called Samantha, who was friendly and helpful. The restaurant got busy after we arrived but food came out quickly and was nice. The toilets were clean and tidy. Overall, it was a nice visit 😊

Food delicious as usual, however long wait as restaurant was super busy and staff were not as helpful as we wished... we were given a table after waiting for 25 minutes, which we were told would be 10! But all in all, the delicious chicken made up for it in the end!

We arrived at the restaurant having not booked, we were told a 45 minute wait so we put our name down & came back. We returned half hour later to play it safe, we were seated around 25 minutes after that. Although we had to wait longer than expected , it's worth it! We all love nandos and some of us are fussy so we had to wait, extremely busy for placing orders but once it was placed we waited 5 minutes for starters and 10 minutes for mains. Brilliant fast food minus the wait, it's a popular food outlet so to be expected. Fully recommend!

I have been to this nandos many times and never had any issues before, I am veggie and had ordered a halloumi pitta, when it came out I was served a chicken pitta (not really a problem I know mix ups happen and I’m not silly enough to think I won’t see chicken in a chicken restaurant) I sent it back as it wasn’t what I’d ordered and it turned out when I had ordered at the till it had been put through as chicken (again mistakes happen I’m okay with that, probably also my bad for not checking my receipt), a really nice guy named Martin sorted it all out and was super sweet and even made sure I had extra halloumi in my pitta and checked on us multiple times throughout the meal to make sure everything was okay, sad to hear from another member of staff that he is leaving soon, all the other staff working at the time were also lovely, big up you guys xxx

good food, fast service , and plenty of tables left but we arrived just before midday, at midday we saw it getting busy

Great quality food, good service and nice atmosphere. Usually busy but they get you seated as quickly as they can. The food is always top quality, they sides are very filling though. I wish the dessert options were better. Other than that, couldn't recommend this place enough.
