Nadon Thai Restaurant, Morpeth in Northumberland

After hearing such good things from friends and family we decided to visit on a Saturday evening. Restaurant was half full and service was prompt. Starters came and were ok, but not to the standard I have had in other Thai venues. Mains were dreadful a black pepper beef in a watery sauce that seemed to be the same as the over baring sauce that came on the side of mixed vegetables, and I had a duck dish where the duck must simply have been deep fried it was inedible. Swiftly got up paid the bill and left. Would not return for sub standard non authentic Asian food.

We had in the words of my teenage daughter a ‘scrumptious’ meal. Very good service and the food was delicious, one of the best Thai meals I’ve had in a while.

I don't know what happened to this restaurant. The food used to be great. Great flavour and great prices. It used to be our go to takeaway and we loved to be able to support a local business. The last three meals have been very disappointing. One was in the restaurant and other two were takeaways. Bland, tasteless good. tonight's dinner went into the bin. It's a real shame

Nadon Thai is one of those restaurants I've been meaning to visit for a few years now and now I have I'm somewhat underwhelmed. The decor which looks great on photographs is decidedly dated and somewhat tacky (needs a good dose of TLC) although the front of house staff are pleasant and efficient. My biggest dissappointment though was the food. To start I had the barbequed pork which was fatty and tough and the garnish lack lustre. This was followed by Beef Penang Curry being served with a "thin soup" like consistency when in all other Thai restarants I've visited it is served almost dry with only a small amount of rich, thick sauce, and the beef was tough. The jasmine rice however was nice. Price wise it wasnt expensive and much on par with other Thai restaurants but for the poor quality of the food it did not represent good value.

Visiting Morpeth to see family and it was our anniversary. We visited Thailand in June 2022 and love the culture and cuisine so chose to eat here. We were not disappointed, it’s was DELICIOUS!! Flavours were beautiful, dish sizes were great and very fresh ingredients. Really did have a lovely meal. We would visit again 100% and recommend to anyone. Only two notifications for improvement on customer services: waiter was chewing gum when we arrived and both waiters didn’t really speak much or engaged in conversation.

We called in after making a last minute decision to eat out and luckily there was a late cancellation for an hour later - so I’d highly recommend you pre-book where possible, as it is really popular. The atmosphere was lovely and nice ambience, with lovely decor, plants and low lighting. The toilets are nice and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful answering questions about the menu. Lots of options…we each choose a starter and a curry with rice from the main menu - and it was really filling. The food was delicious and we would definitely return.

Really enjoyed our visit to Nadon Thai in Morpeth. Food and service was good and the food very filling. The food could’ve been more flavourful, though, but overall it was good.

We visited on a Monday early evening so it was quiet. Just caught the happy hour 5.30-6.30 so went for that menu. Tempura vegetables and sweetcorn cakes both delicious. Main courses pad Thai king prawn with noodles, red Thai curry with chicken. Again delicious. All in all it was very enjoyable.

We have been using Nadon Thai Morpeth for many years since opening. Had takeaway at the weekend and it was not up to the usual standard. The sweet chilli sauce for the Thai Fishcakes was missing. The salad with the sides had been put into the bottom of the tray and was literally an inedible soggy mush. The yellow curry had only one tomato. It used to include small potatoes, but not now. The portions are significantly smaller - I can understand the cost of living has had to mean businesses have had to rethink things but here the price has increased at the same time as the portions have reduced. Please don’t be complacent Nadon Thai. The Morpeth population will continue to support you as a good restaurant but please don’t let your standards continue to drop.

Takeaway has gone down hill. The last few meals we have bought as takeaway have been well below the previous standard . Tonight there was no sweet chilli sauce with the fish cakes . The lettuce that the fish cakes were laid upon was brown . The fish cakes were slightly burnt and the yellow curry had one tomato and no potatoes in it . What has happened ? Not cheap and really sad it had deteriorated as always loved this place

Last minute visit on a Tuesday evening I went with my parents and we had a beautiful dinner. Mix of the dinner 2 course deal and a couple of additions. The food and service were fabulous and I will be back.

Me and my partner came to Nadon Thai after receiving many recommendations from friends. We were welcomed by a lovely lady at the bar who served us with a smile and found us a seat. We chose to order starters and a main each. For starters we shared Vegetable Tempura, Vegetable spring rolls and Siam Chicken wings, all of which were served with the most gorgeous sweet chilli sauce I've ever tasted (which I was saddened to learn is homemade on site, so I couldn't buy some to bring home). Each of these dishes were beautifully presented and tasted devine. For mains I ordered the Thai Red Curry with Coconut Rice and my partner ordered the Classic Pad Thai Noodles. The Thai red curry was the most delicious meal I've ever had, I can't even put into words how much I loved this dish. I can't speak for the Classic Pad Thai Noodles as my partner inhaled these swiftly but claimed they too were delicious. Overall 10/10 experience, beautiful food and excellent service. We will most definitely be coming back very soon!

A very quick review to say this is hands down one of the best places for Thai food in the North East. Try it; I’m sure you’ll love it too!

Dropped in to pick up a take away. We hadn't preordered but as we were early they did our meal while we waited.( about 15mins) Had beef Penang (quite good) and chicken yellow curry (amazing) good sized portions. Not sure I'd bother paying the extra for sticky rice again the Jasmine rice was nicer.

Great hidden little gem i the market town of Morpeth. Staff were great, food was very tasty. The Sea Bass Choo Chee is a must. Restaurant itself was nice and cosy and very well decorated. Will be back.

Nadon had been recommended by a knowledgeable local. They were spot on - delicious food, in an airy environment, served by warm and natural staff. Great veggie options. The Drunken Noodles were outstanding.

Went for a family meal. 3 of us had 3 courses a piece and literally could not fault a single bite! Ambience / decor lovely. Service attentive without ‘hovering’. Didn’t feel rushed. The food was stunning, excellent quality, nicely presented and so tasty. I think this place will become our new family fave :-)

Gorgeous meal last night! We had vegetable tempura and sweetcorn fritters to start, then a massaman curry and Thai green curry (both with tofu & veg) for mains. Absolutely beautiful and all vegan! Great service and reasonable price.

Been awhile since last visit and it just gets better we opted for the happy hour 2 course menu which a lot more choices have been added ,tasty as always can’t fault anything superb

We regularly dine in an take away. The food is so tasty and very authentic. My aunt is from Thailand and loves to visit. The massuman curry and also the pad thai are mega delicious.

This fantastic Thai restaurant is the best place to experience Thai food. If you have tried this cuisine. Before then come to the Nandon Thai as the food is excellent, the staff very caring and informative and it is a lovely clean place. All of the dishes in the Happy Hour menu are very tasty and you will be spoilt for choice. We recommend this Thai restaurant to all and you will not be disappointed.

This was a family visit and one of several times we've been. Service was very good and it's a pleasant environment to eat in. The starters and mains were all fantastic, a mix of Siu Mai dumplings, spring rolls, ribs for starters and various mains including 3 Taste Prawns and Duck Tamarind. Good prices, decent portion sizes and most importantly really tasty, especially the duck which was tender inside and crispy outside.

Booked as 2 couples,for birthday meal . As we couldn't book after 18.30 on that particular night,we took an early table. As the meal I'd have chosen anyway,was on the early bird special price,I opted for this .When the 4 meals arrived,mine was noticeably smaller (Early bird) . If it's a special price, don't just make it smaller . Bad practice!!

Easily overlooked this restaurant is located on the first floor above shops, look out for the single door on Newgate Street. Very enjoyable meal, varied menu with lots of options including plenty of vegetarian which was a big bonus. Some pretty hot so order with care. Would recommend.

Cosy and unpretentious. Came recommended by quite a few people so we had to try. One of the best meals we’ve had in ages, couldn’t fault a thing. Hate the term ‘hidden gem’ but I didn’t even know it was there and pass it twice a week. Generous portions and real high quality food. Can’t wait to return.

We went here after family arrived from the States. They are huge Thai fans - and Nadon did NOT disappoint. The heat (spice) on the food was spectacular, each dish was fragrant and extremely tasteful. If you are one who like Thai food, the atmosphere and food are not to be missed at Nadon.

We love visiting Nadon Thai. It is a great place for a couples, groups of friends or family get togethers. Always excellent service and amazing food! One of the best places to eat in Morpeth.

We were visiting the area and fancied Thai for our early evening meal,we went to Nadon Thai after reading reviews on Tripadvisor,wow what a fantastic meal,we were not disappointed.The food was beautiful and well presented.We had bbq pork strips with tamarind dipping sauce and duck spring rolls for starters,for mains,chicken pad Thai and chicken,cashews and chilli stir fry with a side of udon noodles,my goodness not a scrap of food was left.Thank you for a gorgeous meal and we will visit again when in the area

Having tried several restaurants in morpeth and being a lover of Thai food family vote to to go to nadon for dinner. Situated up a flight of stairs a light and airy room. An extensive menu complimented by efficient service, I enjoyed my massamum curry very much although my wife was not impressed with her noodles daughter and son in law left clean plates.

Came across this while parked up, little doorway leading to upstairs. Don't be put off by the outside! Really lovely ambience inside. Had 3 starters which were delicious, satay chicken, shumai & spring rolls followed by nadon fried rice chicken, duck with pat choi and noodles with chicken. Beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. My only gripe is not doing children's portions, my 10 year old was overwhelmed with how much she got, but, not one for sharing others food either, other than that, no complaints. Will definitely return when in Morpeth again.

I preordered a takeaway early on a Friday night. I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I got there the meal was packed securely and in a brown bag to carry it. I opted for Tom Yum Soup, Thai Basil Chicken and Asian Beef Salad. I drove home which is a good 15 minutes, the food was red hot, the quality did not diminish due to it being a takeaway meal and I was extremely impressed. The food was outstanding.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. You enter through a small, unassuming door and the restaurant is upstairs. I was a little worried about what I would find when I got upstairs, but as soon as I saw the number of customers there on a Tuesday night and felt the general ambience, I knew it would be fine. The service was great, very friendly and attentive. The food was super tasty and really good value for money. If you are in Morpeth then this lovely little restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Lovely food and staff, couple of things Booked online and had confirmation only to be told our name wasn't booked in, luckily there was a free table. Then ordered a set meal for two, online price £19.50 in house price £22.50 pp?? However happy to pay this because the food was nice and ample..just need t.o update their prices

Great Thai meal. Staff all in traditional Thai dress which is a nice touch. The food was made with lovely fresh aromatic ingredients. We got a treat dessert as it was my birthday. The Thai Green Curry was really light and fresh with generous amounts of chicken and veg. 5* experience.

Myself and my wife popped in to Nadon Thai on a weekday afternoon where they have a lunch I time special on. It is £7.95 for one course or £9.95 for 2 courses.

What can I say. The food and service were impeccable. We had appetisers of Tom Yum Soup and the Beef Salad then for main a Thai Curry, Drunken Noodles, Thai Basil with side accompaniments. The food was delicious, outstanding. We took what we couldn’t eat home. This place is the best Thai I’ve eaten in for a long time.

Have visited several times and have always had wonderful meals in a great atmosphere. Can highly recommend it as a hidden gem eating place.

Whenever we are in Morpeth we have lunch here, the food is excellent in a friendly welcoming atmosphere, a little difficult to access if you have mobility problems (up a flight of stairs) but well worth the effort.

First rate Thai food, lovely service, great prices. Can’t recommend highly enough. Set menu excellent. A la carte even better.

Introduced to this restaurant a couple of years ago by friends who live in the area. Revisited last night, it just seems to get better. The staff were friendly, efficient and polite. The menu was varied and comprehensive, and the food without exception was excellent. The duck spring rolls were absolutely full of meat, and the chicken satay to die for. The main courses were all excellent, particularly the duck red curry. When chatting to the staff whilst paying the bill I was introduced to the chef who showed me the spotlessly clean and very well organised kitchens, nice to see. Will definitely re visit.

We visited on a recommendation from a local and we were not disappointed . It was very busy but we were not made to feel rushed at all . The ambience was bustling but not chaotic . The food was gorgeous , I was just sad I had no room for the mango and sticky rice . Would return when back in the area .

Recently visited here for about the 5th time with family. Every time the food is really nice and could not fault it one bit. The prices are also very reasonable. Would highly recommend it to anyone. We've also visited nadon Newcastle both restaurants are excellent.

Two of us returned for a lunch having enjoyed our first meal here. We were not disappointed we were met and served by a lovely waitress we both had Chicken Panang served with Jasmine rice and a fresh side salad. This was tasty and very well presented. At lunchtimes it is a very reasonable £7.50 for the mains. We will certainly come back again when eating out in Morpeth, we are happy to recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant lives up to its reputation. We had a delicious meal with fast friendly service. The food was exquisite and full of flavour. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back!

We only had lunch time menu, the service was ok, food ok,, the Satays were nice, the flavour of the tom yung good but the chicken that it contained wasn’t great,, the thai red curry was a bit to sweet for me, the rice was good, overall it was fine , not so sure I’d go back to be honest there is so much choice these days

Food ok if a bit watery. Staff off hand and inexperienced. Stife in the restaurant and table was sticky. Second visit will not be going back any time soon.

We came here as a family of four during the day on a Thursday. The place was empty as it had just opened so we had our pick of the seats!

Points positifs : Charmante serveuse, bière, thai de qualité, entrées, le cloudy bay neozelandais et le chateauneuf du Pape, le cadre.

This restaurant used to be one of the best in Newcastle for Asian food. But on our last visit the standard had slipped and the food was not such a nice quality. Staff were nice and the service was good only the food let the experience down . We have now found another Thai restaurant which offers food of an exceptional standard further down on the quay side . So at least we remain satisfied with our choices.

Came here when we were staying in the local area , popped in on a Tue night and didn't expect it to be busy but it was(so book if possible) , we got seated and ordered a couple of cokes as we were not drinking alcohol , we had a quick flick through the menu and ordered as we knew what we like with Thai , we opted for chicken skewers and duck rolls for starters with prawn crackers and a chilli dip , followed with king prawn pad thai and a beef with cashews , all the meals were hot and tasty and all cost £40 so excellent value for money , will deffo be back if in the area

First visit to this Thai restaurant. Went with son and his partner, who have been here before. Service was good, and we were guided by advice from our son and his partner as neither my husband nor I like anything too spicy. Two of us requested meals without onion which wasn't a problem. The starters of duck spring roll and sesame prawn toast were very tasty. I had my first taste of hoi sin sauce with my duck main dish and my husband enjoyed his fried rice pineapple with pulled chicken. The four meals with two bottles of wine came to just over £100 which I thought was reasonable. The only slight criticism was that the water was served without ice or lemon.

I have visited this restaurant 3 times within a month with different groups of people and we have been delighted and satisfied!! The decoration is very tasteful, waitress is a pure delight and the food is freshly cooked and tastes amazing and we have tried many of the dishes now and still looking forward to our next visit. Well worth stopping by, you wouldn't be disappointed.

There’s nothing much open on a Sunday night in Morpeth. Luckily for us this place was! A nice welcome and delicious found. The salt and pepper squid was very tasty and the spicy basil prawns and three flavour prawns were a delight. We loved it.
