My Thai in Dover

We’ve just finished an amazing takeaway from My Thai and it was 10/10! It was our first time ordering from here, as we hunted for a Thai nearby - we were not disappointed. Green curry was everything and more and the prawns were exceptional. Will definitely be returning! *****

We were recommended to come here by a number of friends and many of their friends and family and were most CERTAINLY not disappointed! Beautiful fresh and fantastically flavoured fresh mussels to start. Our main courses were stunning (one criticism was that the mixed seafood in chilli sauce was not ever so warm) but the crab meat rice was awesome! Excellent venue for a casual evening out or a big group evening. We would very much recommend. Service was also friendly and efficient, with perfect timings from starter onwards.

Best Thai in East Kent, and now looking good value too. Service is friendly and attentive and the food is balanced and very fresh; excellent. Prawn dishes remain generous where many restaurants are down to 2-3 prawns per dish.

We had a takeaway from here The main meals, we're excellent and should have been a 5 - but we felt the starters let it down. It was mass produced, run of the mill, you can get anywhere type of starters. If this is made a little more "home made" I think it's a 5 all day long. The Tom yam khung was excellent As was the other mains consisting of massaman, yellow jungle curry, red Thai prawn and pad Thai. Would highly recommend

Very slow service took over almost an hour to get the starters and over an hour to get the mains, I ordered pork Pad Thai, I was given chicken and when I told the waitress she said no that's pork, I'm not stupid and can tell the difference. The chicken Pad Thai was nice but not what I ordered.

I, a seasoned epicurean, graced this establishment not once, but twice within the very same week! The first escapade, accompanied by my delightful comrades; the second, with our darling offspring. Oh, the culinary delights that danced upon my palate! Authentic morsels from the heart of Thailand - the coconut rice whispered tales of faraway lands, the green curry sang arias of flavours, the mixed starters teased with a cacophony of textures, and the beef salad? Simply put, it was a warm embrace on a chilly evening. The cherubs that serve there? Beyond accommodating. Their camaraderie and affability made one feel like the Earl of Sandwich himself. And when the parchment of payment - the bill, as you commoners might refer to it - was presented? The value was akin to finding a Fabergé egg at a car boot sale. Second time that we had been there First we served by the gentleman and he was funny friendly and attentive this time was served by the lady who was none of the above my choice was lovely crispy fish in curry sauce our friend ordered king prawn pad tai only 4 small prawns in this dish which seemed a bit mean. My wife doesn’t drink alcohol and ordered a small lime cordial with tap water she had two and was charged £5 for the 2 of them quite a lot for a shot of cordial not the best experience particularly as we had raved about it and taken our friends from Essex there.

Great little restaurant. Very friendly and efecient. We had tried the new Italian oopposite, but they were fully booked. So fortunate that this place had space for us. The food was excellent, very hot and and glad we ate here. Would highy recommend . i had the biggest piece of fish for a Pia Choo-Chee, ever. The special fried rice was aslo brilliant. We normally have a spicy soup to start, so glad we didn't this time as we struggled to finish both our meals.

We ate here recently for a family dinner when we visited Sandwich, and found the food to be mediocre. We eat Thai a lot where we live, and in comparison the taste of My Thai was sadly lacking. The service was ok but the Thai lady was particularly dismissive when we asked to see the dessert menu and only one choice was available out of the 9 or 10 listed. Overall we couldn’t wait to get out of there. A terrible experience, and we wouldn’t recommend to it friends who live locally.

Great friendly restaurant in the heart of Sandwich. We have regularly used My Thai for many years and never had a fault or problem, Root, the manager, is great at his job and very friendly (even if a little crazy!!). The food and service is always spot on and very reasonably priced, highly recommended!

We have been very many times. It is probably my favourite restaurant of all time. Authentic food, reasonably priced, great atmosphere and very funny owner make it a great place to eat.

Absolutely wonderful food and staff were simply excellent. We turned up at 5pm on a Saturday for a “quick meal” and they accommodated us. The Red curries were the best we’d ever tasted. We’ll be back!

Nice restaurant and helpful waitress. The menu is extensive but the apparently large vegetarian range is not actually that large. Many dishes contain oysters/oyster sauce etc such as the spring rolls - none of this is clear at all from the menu which was a poor start to my experience here. I did struggle to confirm if any of the fried options were fried separately from non-vegetarian choices and so I was advised that there were no suitable starters for actual vegetarians/vegans. The waitress did say that half the crackers in the bowl were vegetarian but the other half were prawn crackers and she could not confirm definitively that they were fried separately. I did get a main course in the end but it was not the best (none of the usual Thai flavours were noticeable - Thai basil, lemongrass, galangal, red shallots, coconut etc) and I am sure that although their non-vegetarian meals are great, the actual quality of what you get for a vegetarian is disappointing. It could be that my choice was a a bit on the bland side (tofu/cashew/pineapple combo - I had to ask for extra chillies). Having travelled in Thailand and eaten at other Thai restaurants in the UK, I feel that this place is only doing well because they have no competition in the locale. The main saving grace for this place is the helpful waitress who really did try to help and so I would be happy to give them a second go. I'll try something different though and if the dish is comparable in quality to before then I'll give this place a miss moving forward.

I really love this please. The food really tastes authentic, the staff are always welcoming and fun and the price is nice. This is one of my favourite restaurant. Honestly.

I’ve just returned from a night in sandwich and visited this pub on a busy Saturday night. We arrived and had starters and drinks but then it went all wrong we waited 1 hour 10 mins between starter and the main course, the staff are very friendly and make you welcome but it was crazy waiting that long. When I meal come out it was like a kids portion, I’m not a big eater but the portion size was tiny and an hour later me and my partner was both hungry. Not very good value at all and I will never return, some much better places to eat in sandwich

Most of the food was really great - tom yun goong was hot and sour. Red curry really tasty and the pork with basil very good and hot too, but to charge 12 quid for a portion of clearly frozen squid rings in horrible batter is criminal. Shame because the rest of the food was delicious

Great thai food. We had the fried crab rice, special fried rice and fried noodles with spicy chilli. Good customer service too despite being so busy the chef had to serve at times.

First time we’ve used My Thai. I was really excited to give it a go as I loved the Thai food I tried elsewhere. I was so disappointed. Neither of us finished our food as it wasn’t very nice and actually ended up throwing it in the bin and having a bowl of cereal. Pad Thai had no flavour. Duck in Tamarind sauce smelled like tinned dog food and tasted awful. 😢

As long as you're not expecting culinary fireworks, this is actually a fine choice. Given the menu, though, we had certainly hoped for more vibrancy and inspired or authentic cookery. Yet, we were not entirely disappointed by what we got. In some respects, for the kids the somewhat watered down and conservative Thai style may have been more palatable. The restaurant itself is larger than one may expect and decorated to the theme. It's a shame that it shows its age not only aesthetically, but also by the set epoxy glue seeping from the seems of various heavy wooden chairs. Service was friendly and reasonably swift. The dishes, simply put, had more in common with with oversweetened and somewhat bland Chinese takeaway than super fresh, aromatic, and energetic Thai cooking enjoyed elsewhere. The chicken satay needed at least double the ration in peanut sauce and lacked a flavour punch in both marinade and sauce. The battered fish was a good portion, swimming in a large quantity of very sweet rather than sour indistinct sauce, and regrettably was not crispy. I also doubted it was the red snapper that was promised. (When used in my own version of Thai green curry it certainly has more texture and flavour.) That said, the prices are fair and with adjusted expectations your meal here will do just fine.

My favourite place to eat out in Sandwich

Living in the town we often decide to 'pop out' to eat last minute. We debate where to go as we have such a fantastic choice and inevitable we go to My Thai. The food is simply magnificent, no tamed down chilli as the default so if you want it milder ask but if like us you like a bit of fire in your food this is for you. The salads are also amazing and the wine selection is extremely good value for money.
