Mushtaqs in South Lanarkshire

Me & hubby sat in for a quick meal. Food was exactly as requested...1 curry very mild. Very delicious curries, rice & naan. Service was perfect & manager, Ali, made a point of having a friendly conversation. Restaurant side of business had just opened so it was quiet but am sure when its busy the atmosphere would be great. Highly recommend for sit in or takeaway as food is proper delicious. Will definitely be going back when we come down to Glasgow.

Absolutely disgusting place. We had been ordering here regularly but will not be ordering again after I found a long hair in my curry. I sent a message on Facebook messenger in the hope of resolving before having to leave a negative review. However, despite having read my message they have failed to respond to me. Staff are clearly not following hygiene standards or this would never have happened.

Ok i have been a regular for over 10 years and yes had some small issues here and there but in the whole always loved the food , i have been a bit weary since change of ownership , just got my takeaway tonight and the food is just amazing , dont get some of the negative reviews !! Spoke to one of the new men tonight who put my mind at rest regarding the food being as good as always , just had it and omg it is second to none , i hope the new owners realise the loyalty alot of people have and glad also to see the sit in opened again , fingers crossed for selfish reasons cause i love the food , good luck and im looking forwardcto a wee sit in soon

Delivery was early. Chicken was as tough as shoe leather / unedible / binned. Chips cod and hard. Whole meal put in bin and will never be back. Looking for a full refund

Delicious as always - bhuna / naan yummy! Dropped a star because the rice wasn’t as it usually is. It was absolutely tasteless!

ordered two chicken breast kormas with two sweet nans. Received one korma wih a bone an inch long in it with a sweet nan and one korma with a plain one, not what was ordered. disappointed as this used to be a really good takeaway but has really gone down hill. Why are they still advertising resaurant when they don't have one. Don't know if I would go back.

We moved away 8 years ago and always had Mushtaqs before we moved. We live somewhere with multi award winning curry restaurants but every time we ordered I have dreamed of having Mushtaqs again. Well today is that day and let me tell you, it was worth the wait..the food is EVERY bit as amazing as i remember it being. Buffet starter was superb and my lamb garlic chilli is just brilliant. The portion size would do for 2 meals they are so generous. One mouthful and i was back to the day we first tried it. Absolutely love Mushtaqs food and so sad we dont live in the area now. I would recommend food from Mushtaqs over ANY curry ive had in the past- and that includes all the world famous restaurants in Glasgow. One very happy, full big boy this evening. Try Mushtaqs and you will not be disappointed Superb .

Just placed my first order for take away at this establishment and totally regret it. The food arrived quickly but I have never had an Indian curry that looked and tasted of nothing bland looked more like a Chinese than an Indian. Won’t be ordering from here again.

I order from mushtaqs once per month. Always consistent.

Can I just start by saying that I am a fan of this place and enjoy some of the curries very much. However, last night, 3/6/23, was simply too much to contend with in terms of customer service. My partner and I ordered two curries, a nan, pakora and a bottle of juice. After waiting for a good hour and a half for our food to be delivered we decided to phone and ask what was going on. During the phone call we were told that they didn’t know what had happened to the delivery and that they would send us out a fresh one. 10 minutes later we get a phone call. This is when our jaws hit the deck. The girl on the phone told us that the order had been delivered ( so the delivery driver said so) and basically that they didn’t know what to do! My partner then really started to lose the plot at this point, as we had been sitting in our living room for the entirety of the 2 hours since we had placed the order. It was then that they basically accused my partner of telling lies and that we had fabricated the whole thing!! As if we would eat all that and then phone to pretend we hadn’t had our delivery. Seriously! After my partner asked for a refund, she was told that they would have to phone the manager and get back to us. This is when I lost my composure and started shouting that I would phone the police if our money wasn’t returned as we had basically been robbed. After driving down to the establishment, our money was returned, but not an explanation was given for our ordeal in simply trying to have our dinner. My theory is that because it was a large order, the delivery driver has given it away to friend or family and told a pack of lies in saying that they ordered the food. Absolute disgrace in terms of how the treat the customer!! And for good measure the girl on the phone seemed to find the whole situation amusing. It wouldn’t be that if we had went in to the restaurant and just lifted 30 quid out the till. Just lucky the situation was resolved before police became involved!

Love the curry but possibly the worst portion of chips. Tiny fries are a very poor option especially at the price you pay for them.

We always order chasni chicken , but we often chasni tikka, which is hotter than we like...

Very little meat in the main meal, mostly sauce, very disappointing.

Usually high quality food, the chicken breast was rubbery and watery tasting. The Chasni sauce had separated too.

The 1st time we’ve had a meal not up to your usual standard. We got a korma meal. The chicken was dry and had black bits all over it which nice to look at while eating. The chicken wasn’t as soft as it usually is and the sauce was bland tasteless, not creamy and flavourful as it usually is.

I don't really know what is happening here, but the quality of the food has went down hill.

Chicken was dry and some bits chewy unusual for here to be honest. Forgot my Coca-Cola phoned them said they would phone driver not heard back from them

I order from here and the korma was not nice it tasted off, I never ate it and rice came in a wee food bag(it was watery and soggy) for my meal to cost over £30 I was expecting it to be really good but it was far from it My whole order was not good. Even the chicken pakora I ordered was really dry and tasted bland. I usually like Indian cusine but this has put me right off.

Food has declined over the past few year whilst the prices rise once used to be my go to but better out there now

Chicken pakora is 5 stars. Mixed pickle is awesome, best ever. And chicken tikka lassani is delicious. Ordered for collection and was super quick. Totally recommended. By far the best Indian in Lanarkshire

Chicken tikka korma amazing as always, rice & nan too, only thing is chips were slightly undercooked & not nice, just need cooked bit longer.

Pakora was freezing cold. Curry was watery and luke warm as were the Madras chips. Hugely disappointing given the usual high quality of food from this restaurant.

Where to start or say I am disappointed in the quality of the food I received tonight the starter we got was the buffet mix starter it was soggy very salty and was not fresh, the chicken tikka chasni I got tasted like it was heat up in a microwave overall very disappointed in the meal, it will be very unlikely I will return to order more from hear.

Very disappointed with the service. Placed order at 17:05 never received order till 2 hours later. Recieved a phone call to say order was sent to wrong address. Can't understand how this can happen. Was told it would be made fresh and sent straight out however till took alot longer than expected. Have got takeaway from here very often but won't be ordering again. Extremely disappointed

The worst pakora I have ever tasted. Dry, rubbery and not that fresh doubt I will be buying from Mushtaqs again. The Bombay Cottage was a far superior meal.

I ordered chicken pakora & lamb madras cost me £24.50 & never even got rice with my curry ??

The Lamb bhuna (mild) sauce didn’t seem to be cooked through properly. Looked like the cream? had been put in without heating through properly. It was ok. Everything else was perfect.

No Way! There’s something terribly wrong with the chef. You dare call it as PROPER INDIAN FOOD ? No way! What a blunder! I ordered Garlic Chilli Chicken and they certainly made a blunder, can’t blame them being a Monday when all good restaurants are closed, I had very limited options so thought of trying Mushtaq’s and for sure we are not returning back to them. Guys pl for god sake, stick to what you say.

Great food, it’s the only independent takeaway I trust. I would just suggest an improvement of the vegetable pakora recipe, less onions and more vegetables, it is not very different from the onion pakora.

Shocking customer service. Very poor attitude from counter staff £45 between the pizza takeaway in the same location. Food was cold asked to make it fresh. Attempted to pass us to same meal put on a hotplate. Witnessed several wrong orders when i was there.

The amount of food you get for the price is great. The customer service when you call, I felt like I was bothering the women on the other end of the phone. Time scheduling for delivery was completely off tonight. I understand roads are busy and maybe lack of drivers but over an hour late is unacceptable. I would definitely come back as it’s one of our favourites. Maybe I would pick up next time

Not up to usual standard sadly, masala chips were undercooked, white and hard in the middle. Chicken pakora over cooked and solid. Curries great as always.

Not as tasty as it had been but still better than most. Needed heated up, even though a quick delivery.

The food is always fantastic, however, with the recent price increases, a takeaway meal for 4 has increased to just under £90. As a takeaway, this is crazy money, and unfortunately, I don't seem me ordering again any time soon.

1 hour 35 mins it took to arrive and it was cold. Text from just eat at 18.11 to say it would be here soon. Called to ask where it was at 19.15 and was told out gir delivery. 19.25 it arrived cold and husband called back mushtaqs to complain and was told theve been really busy. After several sorry we’ve been really busy comments, 20% off next meal was offered. I was out at the time but I feel due to the poor communication and unsafe nature of delivering cold food I am entitled to a refund. I have ordered from mushtaqs many times through just eat and never had this happen. Food safety legislation regarding cooked rice is not to reheat due to it being a high risk food and the possibility of b. Cereus bacteria. As a food business I’m certain you are aware of this and adhere to the highest food hygiene standards at your side of the business.

Our family had been loyal customers for years. We ordered from here at least once a week. The quality standard has been going down hill for a while but we still remained loyal to the business despite not receiving the standards we would expect but last night was the last straw when we found a dead bluebottle fly in bedded in the chicken pakora batter. We are absolutely disgusted. The health and hygiene standard have clearly also dropped along with the quality. Very sad to say we won’t ever be back!!!

worst garlic chilli chicken curry I have ever had. It was oddly sweet and the chicken had never been Tikka'd in its life.

Chassni was not hot...needed to heat up. Not the best taste. Chicken tough and small bit not cooked through so didnt want to chance the remainder. Not what I expected.

Wait time - for mushtaqs 29 min delivery - 55minutes! Food pakora sauce tasted like vinegar. Spiced onions tasted like vinegar. Pakora - soggy and thick batter and very very cold! Mixed starter - dry and cold chicken, soggy and wet veg & aloo. First and last time eating from here 😷

Food was ok - definitely not as good as I remember it being last time I had it. Bhuna wasn't really like a bhuna, tasty enough but lacking tomatoes & coriander for me, as well as being really oily which I don't remember from Mushtaq's in the past. Pakora was tasty and a good portion, but the curry let it down.

Ordered at 6.10pm, phoned restaurant at 7.20pm - ‘delivery driver at your door’…..delivered at 7.25pm. Had a message from just eat at 6.45pm to say order on its way, which I believe because when we finally had it delivered most of the food was cold and the Nan bread was rock hard and could be torn to eat. Sent review to just eat & was offered £5 credit - declined. No point in calling restaurant again as it was far too late in evening to eat. Await response from Just eat for refund.

Disappointing when £15 of a £20 order has to go in the bin!!! The good, the chicken pakora and sauce was really good and the naan was good. The bad, when i dipped into the sauce of the chicken tikka masala all I could taste was salt, completely inedible and that with the naan went straight in the bin. Really, really disappointed.

The delivery service was great however the restaurant forgot to include our main meal in the order. When I phoned to complain they asked if they could just not give us a main meal and give us one free next time. Or I could wait 40 minutes for a new delivery. I said this was unacceptable as my side dishes were all getting cold. My curry then got delivered 15 mins later. Not a great service from the restaurant.

Not lived up to my previous orders, the veg curry had half a potato in it, also ordered pakora and you would expect for the price to be given the sauce with that, nope. Chips were fine and rice in a plastic bag, just felt cheated out what we had paid for. Won't be ordering again, another average curry house in Hamilton on my ban list.

Left a note requesting that chips are cooked well done / crispy. Even called to check they got my note…they came undercooked and soggy :(

Brilliant food! Only issue was I was given a plain naan instead of garlic which was disappointing but brilliant mirchi korma and Karachi

Prawns were rubbery. Since we paid extra for them we felt left down. Food late. Paying nearly £40 for a takeaway meal for two is quite a lot, but usually Mushtaqs is worth it. Tonight was a huge decline in food quality and delivery standard. Will need to reconsider our takeaway choices going forward unless massive improvements are made.

Everything was good however, ordered a “mild”Bhuna Madras and it was still too spicy. It use to be perfect.

The korma was disgusting the chicken was so dry and the rice was so greasy and the nan bread was greasy it all tasted fowl wouldn’t recommend to anyone and I certainly won’t be back

Usually a great meal from here but unfortunately the tikka meal was all chewy so we couldn’t eat it and some of the chasni was chewy too, the meals were also cold

Amazing chicken tikka korma as always, only little niggle is that the chips could do with being cooked a few minutes longer.

I still haven’t had my order yet the Just Eat app says it’s delivered! “ENJOY YOUR FOOD” if I had it I might!!! Not really expected as we use this restaurant all the time without issue.

Interesting customer ratings. Mostly 5 star or 1 star. Quite extreme! We visited Mushtaqs years ago, drawn by the good publicity they were getting at the time. Some of the 1 star reviews published here reflect our experience. The different a la carte curries ordered tasted the same and really bland. We complained and if I remember, were offered a buffet replacement instead. No improvement - still poor. We were then offered vouchers to return. Fair enough, but as another customer said, why would you go back? Let’s have another bad meal. Yay! I remember driving home and thinking: “How did they get awards?” On the other hand, they’re still in business all these years later…

Last 2 delivery's I've had have been late and the food quality of going downhill. Someone needs to train chefs how to cook chips. Undercooked and soggy.

Bit disappointed… the Lamb Bhuna had too much cream added, it was too mild and the Madras was too spicy. Normally perfect but it wasn’t as good this time.
