Museum Cafe in Highland

I have lunch here twice a week, it’s advisable to book. Great food, lovely attentive staff, dog friendly and prices are reasonable. Highly recommend this place.

This is a wonderful place for lunch. The homemade food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the chicken noodle and mushroom soups. They are generous portions and well-priced. The staff are extremely friendly and clearly take great pride in the coffee shop - it's very special. The location in an old station with museum and shops which also adds to the experience.

This restaurant was great the food large portions,and coffee and tea, the soup was good, sandwiches and cakes the staff were lovely always smiling and loved there jobs

We were recommended the Museum Cafe by our hotel- and we cannot say enough great things about this place! The hot chocolate was superb, legit drool! The staff was exceptional and we had a such a great time during our visits. The food was delicious and the portions were large. The price was on point. Cannot wait to visit again, we will go out of our way to visit again in the future!

What a lovely welcome at the coffee shop. We enjoyed a really tasty breakfast (gf options ) And took some cheesecake away for later yum! And dog friendly !

Great stop off for lunch with lots of choice. Mac cheese was super. The black pudding toastie great and a good choice of fresh soups, 3 today. Great outdoor covered seating area on the old station platform. Very clean loos.

First visit to this small cafe. Bitter cold day outside but lovely warm welcome inside. 2 breakfast rolls bursting at the seams and 2 lovely hot lattes. Very reasonably priced too. Will definitely visit again. The cakes on display looked lovely and I can imagine it’s a busy wee spot in the summer months. Well worth a visit

Current owners have really improved the coffee shop - great refurbishment, modern Scottish vibe at the former Strathpeffer station. Only had time for a coffee, but they were able to accomodate gluten free - soups, scones and cakes.

Stopped here for soup and a roll and tea, pleasant helpful staff and good food, we’ve been here a few times now and always enjoy this quaint wee coffee shop.

Popped in today for Lunch, lovely fresh hot food, all the staff I encountered were cheerfully going about their jobs, certainly going the extra mile, this place is surely a hidden gem.

Having visited Dingwall, very impersonal service in shops, drunk folk having a sweary shouting match on the high street, and in Tesco staff chatting between themselves rather than serving customers, we left disgruntled and headed west, we pulled into this place, plenty of parking. We were able sit under the station glass shelter outdoors. A very attractive spot, rustic garden, a museum and a craft shop. The staff were the exact opposite to our earlier experience, smiley, chatty, happy to help. Plenty of choice and lovely fair. Highly recommended

Such a lovely cafe, very friendly staff. Made to feel very welcome from start to finish of our visit. We had a lovely lunch of toasties which came with a salad and crisps. We even came back after a walk for tea and cake. Very relaxing, gorgeous surroundings with a lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend, not only for location but also for great service and tasty homemade food!

Visit this cafe often as we have family who live in the village. Food is good, nice selection of cakes, and most importantly the staff are always really friendly and always accommodating of us with twin babies needing high chairs etc. highly recommend it as the cafe in the village to visit if you are with family.

We visited twice, the first time for lunch and the next day we brought by partner's mother for tea and scones. We sat on the former train platform and it is such a nice place to relax, enjoy nature, and appreciate the great renovation done to the station.

Fantastic lunch, homemade macaroni and chips, chicken wrap, toffee apple and cinnamon cake and honeycomb cheesecake, were lush. The staff were very friendly too!

This is a lovely cafe in the renovated railway station. Both outdoor seating (on the old railway platform with lovely views of the gardens) and indoor seating available. Good selection of drinks, snacks and food. Friendly staff and great service. If you’re walking, you can walk along the recently developed old railway line towards Dingwall. Will be back!

Very friendly and helpful staff, with a wide variety on their menu including gluten free options (it is very rare to find gluten free scones in cafes/restaurants but they had it here!) The soups were delicious and changed depending on the day. The station location on the platform was charming and a great place to look at whilst eating. Overall, it feels very cosy!

We live locally and discovered this lovely cafe last year. It's perfectly situated for lunch after walking and is dog friendly in the lovely outdoor seating area. Food delicious, staff friendly and cannot do enough for you. Just re opened after lockdown restrictions lifted and are managing this really well.I can see us becoming regulars!!

Found this delightful cafe in the old Strathpeffer station by accident after a hike over the hill from Contin. Great food. Lovely staff. Have been back a few times 🙂

We found this place by chance when walking through Strathpeffer on a family outing. We now travel especially to eat here. The food is fresh and tasty with reasonable prices. Although indoor seating is available it’s much nicer to be outdoors on the old railway platform with lovely views of the garden.

The staff are very friendly and there is a varied menu. Having said that, all we wanted was cake and tea. The Victoria sponge was delicious.

Visited on 5th November to discover that the cafe was closed until 21st November despite TA saying it was open. Posted for information to other potential visitors so scored as Average to not adversely affect their rating.

Excellent service coffee and cake, although they were busy we were served quickly. Made very welcome and will look forward to visiting again.

A very welcoming café, with a big menu to suit all tastes. Food freshly prepared.., and delighted with the flavours and smart presentation. Care taken to make sure the customers have settled in before taking the order. Choice of rooms indoors, or on the station platform under the veranda. Hope to visit it again, and to spend more time looking round the historical exhibitions relating to the history of Strathpeffer as a spa town, in its heyday in late Victorian and Edwardian era.

Every time We go to Strathpeffer we pop in here for a cuppa and a cake. All delicious home baked goodies! Unfortunately this time it was coming up to closing time, so no scones left! But had a lovely coffee.

This is a pleasant cafe with cheerful staff and enjoyable coffee and cakes. The old station has been made into an attractive place to visit.

We sat at a table on the platform and enjoyed it so much we went the next day as well. I enjoyed my soup and square sausage roll and the ice cream sundaes were very good.

Situated in a renovated railway station this really is a hidden gem. Just out of the centre of the town and next door to a small museum this little place is the best cafe for miles.

Tucked away in the restored train station is a small cafe with wonderful soups, sandwiches, and baked potatoes. Service is friendly and prompt. And let's just say the desserts were outstanding. The lemon cake was tart and light. A place to sit and visit awhile.

Wonderful cafe. The staff are lovely and friendly. My husband and I both had the Tomato and Red Pepper soup, it was one of not the best soup we have had , and we’ve had a few . We both then had a Panini which was delicious. Highly recommend visiting if your in the area.

Although the station closed 60+ years ago the platform had been restored to its former glory. Museum is great especially for kids, the shop is full of knick knacks many sourced from Fair Trade countries around the African continent. Cafe cosy and lovely snacks. Very friendly people

We walked here on 1st January from Contin and were really surprised that it was both open and lovely. I had a delicious bowl of soup and found the ambience and the staff great. I would recommend a visit to this cafe if you are in the area.

Dropped by for hot drinks, and lovely warm scones, on way home from dog walk. We quite enjoyed sitting at table on Station platform rather than in the main tea room itself. Staff very friendly and welcoming, Sunday papers to enjoy with your cuppa, and the dog was treated to a fresh bowl of water and biscuits on the house. Nice touch. A selection of 4 soups on menu, must try next time.

Old owners leaving, new owners taking over. The thing they have in common, is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere they have created. A “must” place to visit if you are in Strathpeffer. Thank you for a pleasurable experience we will be back. Good luck in your new venture.

Very interesting museum. Just a little way from The Highland Hotel. Although small, there is a variety of items that I remember from my childhood. There is a video depicting life at that time.

Perfect little stop during our road trip. The town is really cute and the setting of the cafe is homey. I had the curry butternut soup with a cheese scone and it was to die for. Loved this place!

We went to visit this Victorian Railway station and found out so much, about how, why and who built the original station. We found out how the people in Strathpeffer developed the old station into what is now. Angriest place to see and has wonderful home games in the coffee shop. If you like history, this is a must visit. Great place and nice people.

This cafe is in the old Strathpeffer Railway Station, very pleasant stop for Tea, with a couple of interesting small local produce shops as well.
