This is one of my favourite restaurants when en route to Petworth or Chichester . Just further on than Chiddingfold with great gardens and ample parking space it is a lovely place to go for a drink or a meal in summer en route to the Sussex coast, or just a run out. Very friendly staff, an excellent menu and wine list, what more could you want !

Have just had a really lovely lunch there, everybody was catered for beautifully and the service was attentive but not overwhelming, which was perfect. Certainly a good idea to book as it was full and people were being turned away. Only slight niggle is that because of the wooden floors it is quite noisy, and unfortunately a table nearby had a very noisy and badly behaved young child, but that wasn't the pub's fault! Overall, would thoroughly recommend. We will definitely be going again.

My friend and I had a day out exploring Hazelmere. I've eaten here before and each time it's been lovely and yesterday was no exception. We shared a tapas platter which had a tasty and interesting assortment of items. I had the sweet potato soup and my friend the goats cheese and mushroom tart. It was particularly nice with homemade crust. We each had a glass of Prosecco and a bottle of sparkling water. There weren't many diners but that's to be expected late afternoon on a weekday.

Staying in a nearby hotel, we had a drive out one evening looking for somewhere to eat, being not too impressed with the restaurant in our hotel. How glad we were that we found The Mulberry! The place is absolutely immaculate, from the clean contemporary exterior to the matching interior. And the food....wonderful, delicious and good value. If only we lived nearer - it would be regular haunt of ours! Staff were very helpful and friendly, in fact the whole atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Our food was quick to arrive and drinks prices were good value. Loved it!

We (partner and I) purposefully drove 1 hour out of our way to visit this pub and were very much looking forward to lunch. On arrival we noticed that the bar and restaurant were half full. We asked a grumpy girl at the bar were we could sit to be told the whole place was booked up. There were tables, not even laid, bare of people. She then walked off. There was no attempt to retain our service as customers. No suggestion of a time to wait before a table would be free. Gutted as I have always wanted to visit but this was a customer relations disaster. Incidentally, we found the Stag at Eshing nearby as a result and had a wonderful time - so all was not lost!

We (myself, my husband and my adult son) stumbled across this restaurant by accident but hopefully we will be able to find it again on our travels. The Mulberry Burger was amazing, the burgers were exceptionally good quality and the chips were excellent. The lamb shank was so tender the meat fell right off the bone and the seasonal veg, small boiled potatoes and a mix of asparagus, beans and peas was delicious. We finished our meal with baked Alaska which was totally amazing. The service and presentation of the food was great and the setting was clean, well decorated and relaxing. My only wish would be that it was much nearer to where I live so I could visit more often

Booked in here for a birthday lunch (5 people) and the restaurant was far from full. The food was excellent and every dish was presented beautifully. The Baked Alaska was a special treat if a little sweet with the volume of berry sauce on it. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant with a wonderful setting just outside the village of Chiddingfold. The big complaint though was the speed of service, especially as this was lunchtime. Admittedly we arrived a little earlier than planned but overall the meal took 2.5 hours, then a service charge is automatically added to your bill !

We have visited this pub/restaurant a few times with friends who live nearby and have always had a good meal with good service. This time our party had a member with restricting food allergies but the staff went out of their way to check what was in the food to the extent of finding out the type of oil used to fry the chips. Very disappointed. Started off well when we first arrived. But we were the only people sitting down to a meal at that point. We were early from visit to panto in Guildford. Therefore first to order but big party came in. They were waited upon and their food came and more drinks as we waited and waited between are starters and then our mains. Eventually our food came the burger was great, sons steak was medium but burnt on the outside (not ideal for a 5 year old). Steak knife did come after waiter saw I was struggling to cut it up. I ordered the Pork which was inedible hard burnt and dry, the potato was raw in the middle. Cabbage was delicious. Unfortunately due to the wait we could not stay for desert as our young son was tired and upset as he had had to wait so long for his food. The Staff were disinterested when I explained my disappointment with my meal. This had been planned for months and it was the end to what had been a special day I wish we had gone elsewhere. I should have read the reviews.

I came here for the first time yesterday to have lunch with a friend. The welcome was warm and we were given a choice of tables. There was a quite extensive menu: we had mussels and duck pate for starters, both of which were beautifully presented, and a glass of champagne and a large glass of the house red, which was very drinkable. For mains we had the fish of the day, hake , and one of the other day's specials, venison sausages with mash and onion gravy; both were excellent. Being greedy, we shared a baked Alaska for pudding. With one gin& tonic to start with and one espresso to finish - one of us had to drive - the bill was very reasonable. The staff were excellent and we couldn't have asked for better service. Overall a really good place to eat.

The only one negative for me was the vegetarian choice, this is because I am fussy but I thought the veggie choices on the main menu lacked imagination. I don't like risotto or goats cheese and these seem to be quite common place. A beautiful ride through the countryside from Goodwood in the sunshine but unfortunately the lunch was a little disappointing... ambiance was great, staff superb and it has to be said, although we opted for the set menu, the starters & pud`s were excellent. The main courses were the let down; I had the roast beef which was okay, my partner opted for the lamb which was very fatty but the serving was dominated by four huge roast potato`s and a huge serving of green beans (which were barely cooked), two slivers of carrot, a sliver of parsnip and a floret of broccoli with a large Yorkshire pud. It did give the impression of "loading up on the cheap stuff".

Choose this restaurant for a small family birthday as it is local and had good reviews. The food was very generally very good (especially the risottos and the canon of lamb) but a few elements were disappointing (inedible calamari that was seriously undercooked). We felt a little squished in a corner with a table that wasn't really big enough for 4 people eating a full meal. Service seemed a little grudging - often had to wave to flag their attention even though we were right by the bar. The wine that we ordered was forgotten entirely and we had to reorder half-way through the starters. Overall more 'acceptable' than 'excellent'. Don't think we'll rush to go back.

The meals were outstanding, as usual, and it's so good to see a Sunday roast with a vegetarian option (I had mushroom terrine) but with all the roast dinner trimmings, including Yorkshire pudding. The baked alaska was out of this world and is a 'Mulberry favourite', but the other desserts looked just as scrummy !! It's a shame it takes us about an hour to get there, but that makes it more of a special treat when we do.

We met for a post Christmas family get together, and found the Mulberry Inn suited us perfectly. The service was excellent and the ambience very good with a mixture of diners and people using the bar. The decor and seating is clean and comfortable and beautifully enhanced with a Christmas decorations. The food was excellent, we chose quite a few different dishes and most of the plates went back clean! We will definitely consider returning when we are in the area again.

6 adults and 3 children for a family Sunday lunch. Most of us had roast sirloin beef, Yorkshire pudding, a selection of vegetables and delicious roast potatoes. It was all very well cooked and tasty. Couldn't fault the service. A good time was had by all.

The Mulberry Inn is the half way point from my parents and our house and whenever we've passed by the car park is always full. It has always looked inviting and so we decided to book a table to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. The service is friendly/efficient and we all enjoyed our meals. Certainly worth a visit and we will again. Would rate good rather than average!

Yesterday we drove all the way from Hertfordshire as my wife had heard about his pub on the radio and wanted to try it. We met her sister from Somerset there and were joined by our daughters. It was a lovely setting and we had a leisurely Saturday afternoon lunch. We studied the menus and saw the dessert menu and some of us decided to try and pace ourselves and just have bread as a light starter. The garlic bread was delicious and not greasy and lightly spiced with garlic. Highly recommended. The foccacia bread was just as delightful and was served with oil and chopped olives.

Booked a private room here a few weeks ago for Sunday lunch attended by three generations of the family. Good value lunch and varied menu to choose from, either a two or three course option. Decent wine choice at reasonable prices.

I have been to a number of pubs in the area in the past couple of months and this was one of the most disappointing. The food is mediocre and yet priced above average. If this pub was in London, it would be empty. If you sit in the garden you have the impression you are at a motorway lay-by. The only plus point was the service. We however shall not be returning unless things improve dramatically.

We were driving home from a weekend away and found The Mulberry on Trip Advisor only a few minutes before we drove past it. We were delighted we visited.

We found this place by chance on our drive home from Arundel to London. We had come through lots of villages where pubs were closed on a mid-week afternoon, then we came upon the Mulberry Inn. It looks very attractive from the outside, has disabled access at the front, and a wide open gravel carpark. The interior is smart pub, with wood and lots of space. Service was good. The menu was bit pricey, but the two gourmet sandwiches we had were perfect with lots of local produce. The drinks menu looked good but I was driving so had a pot of tea. The restrooms were modern and clean. A good find.

We stopped here when we had missed the turning for the hotel we were staying in so it was very much on an off chance. It is a nice place which was very busy (Sunday afternoon). The food was very good as was the service until it was time for dessert. I was given a menu and waited another 20 minutes before anyone came back for the order by which time I had changed my mind, we asked for the bill and waited another 15 minutes for someone to come and give it to us then another ten for them to return. I know they did have a large party in but it is not really acceptable to wait that long.

Nice posh pub, great service, comfy seating. I had chilled pepper and tomato soup to start which was a bit spicy for me and a roll with it would have been nice. For main I had the pan fried bream fillet which was absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked. Overall lovely afternoon meal with the family, we all had a different meal and everyone enjoyed theirs.

Well I agree with your other reviewers. What a great place. Was visiting my old school with two school friends from America and Bermuda and needed something special. Looked on trip advisor and found here. From the moment we walked in we were treated like long lost friends. The staff were fantastic. They showed us to a table. My friends wanted to know all about the beers which they explained. They were very patient when we weren't quite ready to order having not seen each other for 38 years. The food was delicious even though we just had Caesar salads. They allowed me to phone my daughter urgently as I could get no signal on my phone. They took photos of us and just made us very welcome. Didn't rush us. Can't praise the staff enough. We sat in the bar in big leather seats which was just right for my friends. Would highly recommend a visit. Will return with husband. A lovely lunch time spent with good friends

We visited the Mulberry for the second time recently, there are only 3 rooms, and it's good - one of those places you wonder if you should keep to yourself, or share. We spent a long afternoon in the garden with a sharing platter, followed by the best fillet steak we have seen since returning from the USA! I had cod wrapped in leeks, which was cooked to perfection. Camilla and her team are excellent, the service is faultless and the happy 'can do' attitude makes you feel at home. We stayed in a lovely room, and it was all rounded off with a full English in the garden - before returning to the real world! Thanks Mulberry - we'll be back!

We stayed here for two nights as a friend was getting married nearby. The rooms are huge and really nice and even include games/books if you're bored of your companion :-) We arrived late and the restaurant had closed so we drove to Haselmere and got a curry which was also very good.

What a dreadful meal. Lets start with the place itself. A lovely sunny evening but no sun in the garden, just the de rigeur children's playground area in really no garden at all, just a patch of green with the usual boggy bench tables. We go inside and there's obviously a nicer place to eat at the back but we are stuck in the bar area which is - er - unappealing. There are very few people there and its all a bit 'don't talk too loud.' Our first bottle of wine is corked and frankly the starters were very poor. Mine (from the menu of the day) was crabmeat in a pancake with lime juice and had so little crab meat and so much lime it was to say the least very unappealing. Main courses were better. Two courses for four of us plus two coffees cost us £50 a head, can you believe it? Chris Evans needs to go to other local pubs and see how full they are and what good food they serve, this place is awful. We first came here years ago when it first started and it has gone downhill ever since.

We visited the Mulberry for dinner on Easter Monday. Great selection of wines and beers which were well kept and friendly and efficient staff. Great menu with seasonal, fresh, local produce. We shared a garlic bread - fresh garlic butter and gorgeous bread. I the went for the serrano ham wrapped cod loin with chive creme fraiche from the specials board - it was served with leek and courgette crisps which were lovely and small potatoes. The fish was fresh and a generous portion. My husband had the Mulberry burger with hand cut chips - again a good sized portion which he really enjoyed to the point that we couldn't quite manage a dessert.

We've been twice to the Mulberry Inn and on each occasion have really enjoyed it. The food has been excellent and the atmosphere busy without being noisy. The interior decor is smart and modern and the service, in our experience, very efficient and friendly. It's not exactly cheap (nor outrageously expensive, however) but it's a good place to save for the odd special occasion.

On Saturday I had yet another delightful luncheon at the Mulberry. I have dined here on c30+previous occasions and always enjoyed the food and service. The food is always delicious - beautifully cooked and prepared and packed with subtle flavors. On this occasion I started with a duck samosa followed by a delightful lemon sole and finished with the cheeseboard - a very generous selection of three cheeses and an assortment of biscuits, fruit and nuts. The service was, as always, friendly and efficient. Historically the proprietor donated all profits to the CHASE childrens hospice in nearby Guildford which gave dining at the Mulberry an further "feel good" factor but this profit donation appears to have ceased which is sad. However a consistently consistent dining experience offering value for money in a welcoming restaurant.
