Muircot Farm is by far the best coffee shop/cafe in the area. We’ve been many times and the food is consistently excellent, the location lovely and the staff friendly. I have a passion for the Tiramisu cake , light and yet creamy. I had to share a photo. Closely followed by the Bakewell tart, Lemon Meringue pie, twice baked soufflé, home cooked ham etc etc . A lovely treat .

Well Done Muircot Farm shop. Its our Favourite place to eat lunch. My husband being a Coeliac finds its hard going trying to find somewhere coeliac friendlty to eat. It also has the advantage of providing a scenic view of the Ochil Hills & nearby are plenty of places to go walkabout. Its our Anniversary today & where else to celebrate a nice relaxing lunch & be tempted by the cakes on display. Thank you for making our day extra special!

Had been here once before about five years ago and was impressed. Returned the other week, first time post Covid, and wondered if it would still be as good. It was a Saturday afternoon at the beginning of March. It looked as if they had increased the number of tables, at the expense of retail space since the last time we were there (though I may be wrong, it was five years ago!) but despite that it looked as if there were no tables free. However, as it was a warm day we offered to take one of the outside tables. Within a few minutes a friendly server had arrived to take our order and within a few minutes more the food had arrived, despite how busy the place was. We both has the soup and smoked salmon sandwich combo. There was a choice of two soups and we had them both between us and they were really good, and a generous portion. I was expecting the smoked salmon sandwich to be a few slivers but no, it was a generous slab of hot smoked salmon in lovely brown bread. Excellent! So, please to say standards have been maintained and I certainly hope to be back again, sooner than five years this time!

Three of us arranged to meet for a ‘soup and a sandwich lunch’ a week ago. We booked without difficulty and as we walked in we were greeted by a staff member who took us to our table. This is a small fart shop and ‘light’ meals operation with a fairly simple menu but we had been before and knew that what they offered was what we wanted. We all opted for the soup and sandwich offer - there were two home made soup options and several sandwich choices all made with a choice of bread. The bread was fresh and the fillings generous. Service was slick but friendly and we thought that the prices reflected good value for money. It’s an hours away from where we live - but we will be back !

We came across this place by chance on our way to Gartmorn Dam. It looked modern and inviting from the outside and was much the same inside. We were looking for coffee and scones which we had. As a coeliac I have to adhere to a strict gluten free diet for life to avoid getting ill after eating. They had gluten free scones which few places offer and two sorts, fruits and plain. I ended up eating two. Well done for providing this option. It’s really appreciated. The first was perfect in texture and taste, the second a bit too crumbly and fine textured, totally falling apart at the first application of butter. I ate it with my teaspoon in the end. More xanthan gum perhaps. They tasted different too, the result of different staff baking them. Still great to be able to get these though. The coffees were good too as was the service, really pleasant and helpful. The view of the Ochils was lovely too. The experience was much nicer than queuing in the Sterling centre for coffee. We would happily go back to eat the scones again and maybe try other offerings too.

Book in advance to ensure the high tea, really great selection of freshly made scones sandwiches and cakes. If you can manage it you must try the lemon meringue pie, total luxury.

We went for lunch after our NSPCC volunteers meeting in Alloa. We arrived just before the rush, so I guess it would be good to book!

A lovely friendly farm shop. The views of the Ochil hills are terrific. A very busy place if you are going to be there for lunch definitely book ahead. The menu has a good choice for a small farm shop and the baking is really to diet for (at a later date). We have been going to Muircot for around 2 and a half years and the standard and cleanliness of the place has been excellent all the time. Thwe welcome is always friendly

Our son, his wife and our two grandchildren (who had never visited the Woodsman) could not believe the very high standard and presentation of the food they ordered along with myself and wife on 25/10/23. We all had a wonderful evening with good service. My wife and I have visited the woodsman on many occasions and never had cause for complaint so we have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to others where the staff really look after your every need.

The Cairn Restaurantlocation-icon183 West Stirling StreetBritish

Excellent presentation and equally matched with good quality food. The haggis Bon Bons were perfectly cooked with a nice crisp side salad & Tasty dip. The rump steak was excellent value for money, tender and tasty. My only tiny gripe was our chocolate fudge cake tasted more like sticky toffee pudding but none the less it was deliciously soft we didn’t complain 😊Friendly, prompt service and all reasonably priced . Will definitely return and would recommend .
