Is it possible to get an update on progress and when Mrs T's plan to return open I'm getting hungry for some quality fish and chips.

We have been eating fish and chips from Mrs TS for as long as we can remember and we genuinely look forward to it as a treat. At £11 for fish and chips it is not something you can have too often. Sadly this time our meals were just not up to scratch. The chips were cooked ok but absolutely full of black and green spots which made them very unappealing. The fish was ok but very thin and not the usual lovely chunky cod we have come to expect. The portion sizes were small and about half of what you would expect for a portion of chips. Overall very disappointing and regretfully we won't be back for a while. Come on Mrs Ts you can definitely do better!

Has to be the best chip shop we have been to in for ever. At first we thought it was a little expensive, but once we saw the food was made there in front of us fresh 😋 and the size of the portion, all home made, it was worth the wait. Absolutely 💯 for taste and freshness

This is always a go to place if we are in Southwold or Walberwick. For fish and chips it’s as good as it gets. I’ve never had better. Plus they have added some seating outside

One if best fish and chips lunches I've ever had, and I've had 1000's over the years. A bit pricier than others in the area, but much better value too. Win win. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

Perfectly situated at the harbour front..Pleasant staff . Cooked fresh to order, 15 to 20 minute waiting time on ordering which is totally expectable as in return you are served quality fish and chips which are not greasy. Cod and chips x2 is £20. You get a wooden fork and knife in the box too. I would have loved a lemon wedge 😊

Popped here based on TA reviews for dinner. Food is freshly cooked so waited about 15/20 minutes but wasn’t wowed (think we’re spoiled at our local chip shop at home). Disappointed that the fish is served with the skin on. Pleasant staff. Limited menu in comparison to its neighbours. Lots of outdoor seating. Pleased that they could offer alternative to regular batter.

Went to Mrs T’s on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend, so as you can imagine, it was packed. The queue was well worth it though. The guy behind the counter is efficient, friendly and despite the pressure, was completely keeping his cool. Well done! The fish is cooked to order, so is piping hot. We sat outside as the sun was going down. Fish & chips at Southwold harbour at sunset, is there anything better than this? For me the fish was also well done, just a bit too crispy. I wonder if you can ask them for a lightly battered and more lightly cooked version (I am a northener, so this is just a regional preference). Over all, it was a lovely walk to the harbour and back, and well worth it. And their prices are perfectly reasonable. I’ll be back.

Delicious, made to order fish and chips. Light and crispy batter. Huge fish, sensible portion or chips. Really friendly, professional staff on the counter. And counter to other reports - they do take card.

Always a favourite of ours. Freshly cooked to order , lovely batter and high quality fish. The guy on the counter is super friendly and very efficient. Expect to wait around 20 mins in busy times but it’s worth it. Always in our list when we visit this area, see you next time !

After work treat if you go to Southwold and you love traditional take away Fish and chips you have to go to Mrs TS fantastic fresh fish in crispy batter and extremely friendly second to none!!!

I always thought Yorkshire fish n chips could not beaten - well they nearly were today. It really is along time sine I’ve experienced such GREAT f n c’s. Despite COVID the fish had trouble staying in the tray - the batter clean and crispy and the fish really fresh and tasty. I always find get the fish right and you are just about there however the chips were spot on for accompanying the fish - not the mushy cold miserable offerings these were proud to accompany the fish and what a great job they did to. Washed down with a mug of refreshing tea. Why not as good as Yorkshire- well it wasn’t Yorkshire tea and I’m a Yorkshire lad so there nowt like home!

Holidaying in Southwold this week I read the reviews for Mr Ts and was really looking forward to testing the food. Unfortunately the haddock I was given was extremely poor quality and the batter was overcooked and burnt. I ate the meal whilst walking otherwise I would have returned it and complained. Being born and bred in Grimsby I pride myself in knowing quality or in this case, poor quality fish and I believe it was not fresh fish but frozen. I have even tasted better frozen fish when fresh was not availableOverall I was very disappointed and dissatisfied with the food purchased and will definitely not return or recommend this establishment.

Don’t be put off by the unassuming building or the bumpy track along the harbour road, if it’s not raining there is a decent sized car park a couple of minutes walk away. Fish & chips cooked to order so be prepared to wait. Worth it as it was the crispiest batter and no soggy chips. Super hot and served in trays making an outdoor meal much easier. Have a system in place to keep to social distancing and sanitiser on the counter so you can add your own salt & vinegar. Very friendly staff. Great little find.

Have been going to mrs T’s now for 3/4 years and I cannot stress enough how friendly and accommodating the staff are. Even in these difficult COVID times everywhere was suitably sanitised, clean and social distancing procedures were clearly marked out. The food is delicious, tasty and very reasonable priced. The staff are brilliant with the children. They sell the most delicious gluten free chips And omg they taste scrummy. It’s rare to find all these qualities all in one place. Also situated on the beach with beautiful views whilst you eat

Very busy even on a Wednesday in September.Fish size very generous.Would certainly visit again.Plenty of seating, and fish is cooked to order so there is a little wait, but to sit and just watch the comings and going at the harbour is quite entertaining.

We went out of our way to find Mrs T's fish and chips on the harbourside, after reading rave reviews on Trip Advisor.OK the fish was excellent, the chips average, but I wouldn't rate this as the best we have had. The batter was OK but a bit greasy and there was a lot of it.....The staff were friendly and welcoming. They have instituted a one way system to take account of Covid, but it is a shame that customers are not asked to wear a mask inside the building. Whilst waiting for our order, just outside the door, we observed many customers not observing social distancing and no-one used the hand sanitiser provided.As older people we need to feel comfortable when buying food.

As a frequent visitor, I was amazed and pleased that there was no queue when we arrived on a Saturday lunch time. Service was unbelievably friendly (as always). Our wait was about 20 minutes but when you have such a great view and seating outside, it really doesn't matter. Our food was fresh and tasty. Very generous portions.Slightly surprised to see so many queuing for Sole Bay next door. Even more surprised to see customers from there taking up benches outside Mrs T's. We have eaten there before and while they're nice, I feel Mrs T's tops it! Look forward to our return!

Always has been the best fish and chips in Southwold but despite the standard of catering, Mrs T’s is an enigma. Service is very slow (by the gap between a meal being called and the next, the impression is given of them cooking one order at a time. We understand totally the desire to freshly cook their food. But, on busy sessions like we have frequently seen, how long would any freshly cooked piece of cod hang around? Batch cooking would surely speed up service?). Secondly (and be warned), even in these strange times when nobody wants to handle cash, Mrs T’s still does not accept cards. Trouble is the Sole Bay Fish Co next door do, they have started doing fish and chips, and there was a queue there, suggesting new competition for Mrs T’s. We will continue visiting Mrs T’s because the fish and chips are that good. But if we are in a hurry or make an impulse decision to eat, we may well need to default to the competition.

Scrumptious, the haddock was tasty and beautifully cooked as were the chips! This is certainly the best fish and chips and travel up from Lo don 4 or 5 times during the season just for the haddock! AMAZING!

There are lots of good fish and chip places in Southwold, but they nearly all involve a long stand in a queue and use beef fat for frying. We prefer vegetable oil, and like to avoid queuing where possible - especially in these times of social distancing. So Mrs T’s is a good choice. Turn up and order, get given a number, wait at one of their outdoor tables (lovely river setting). Hear your number called. Eat food - at the outdoor tables or take away. All cooked in oil by friendly folk. Excellent all round

Wow although we are regulars once again you surpassed our expectations ~ truly great fresh cooked cod and chips. Great value long may you hold the crown as the best Fish and Chips in Southwold. Definitely a must for everyone who likes proper fish and chips with excellent service and price

This is my favourite part of Southwold and if we don't eat here we usually eat at the Sole Bay or Harbour Inn. Food was as good as always and thankfully we had very few seagulls as company.

Fish and chips doesn’t get any better than this. Just phenomenal food, and the guy behind the counter I’m guessing the owner just emphasises why this place is a must! We were on the beach and fancied a truly British experience, walked bloody ages and even got a boat across back to the beach with the fish and chips so our families could be fed! All that been said it was definitely worth it, the food was outstanding. Very flavoursome fish, tasty curry sauce and the chips were some of the best around! A must try when over that way!

Some of the best fish and chips I’ve had in years. Covid friendly, walk in, order, walk out and wait for your order to be called. Doesn’t get much better than eating it fresh on the harbour side.

Took two buses and 2 hours to get there but it was worth it! Loads of people but distancing great. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just enjoyed a week’s staycation in Blythburgh & the neighbour of the cottage we were staying in recommended Mrs T’s - so after a long day on our feet walking round the common, seafront & town of Southwold we ended up harbourside at Mrs T’s. The food is cooked to order so be prepared to take a seat for 10 minutes but it’s well worth the wait, as the chips were piping hot, the fish (we ordered both cod & haddock) lovely & flaky with crispy batter & mushy peas were the perfect accompaniment. Good sized portions & reasonably priced. My only gripe would be the small wooden utensils, I get that they add the traditional touch but a good old disposable knife & fork would make eating these great fish & chips so much easier!

Had haddock a chips here, lovely large piece of fish with nicely cooked chips. My hubby fancied battered sausage but they only do sausage without batter which was a little disappointing but nether the less he enjoyed his fish

Visited Southwold Harbour yesterday. Have been wanting to try the fish and chips here and with the great weather now was the time. All I can say is great food, great service and a fantastic location. Go there you won’t be disappointed.

My inlaws live in Southwold and they rate Mrs T's very highly indeed, in fact theywouldn't go anywhere else! Having now tried it, we can confirm it is a great place for fish and chips at the harbour.

AA few weeks ago, one Friday teatime my hubby and I and our great friends decided to go and try the Fish and chips at Mrs T’s after it was recommended by a friend. We all live about 15 miles away and the sun was shining this lovely early evening about 5.30pm. I’m not normally too keen on f&c but these were the best f&c all of us had ever eaten. Everything was perfect when we went, chips, batter, fish was white and juicy and plenty of it! Wow is all the 4 of us could say. We all had a fabulous time with excellent food and all felt like we were on our holidays!I notice some reviews are mentioning light colour chips. I thought the same when I sat down outside to eat, but then noticed the sign on the window stating ‘frying new potatoes’. New spuds never brown as much when fried!! But the taste of the chips were to die for and the same for the fish. Incidentally, the 4 of us are planning to go back again soon and maybe sit inside due to the weather getting colder. Tomorrow though, my hubby and I are going to take my Mother& Step Father to Mrs T’s at lunchtime to experience the fabulous fish and chips and an excuse so we can go back and have some more. Great fish and chips, freshly made to order in an unpretentious building right on the river. We chose to sit inside out of the wind, the majority sat at the tables outside admiring the view.

The few times we have been to Southwold we head to Mr T’s. Great fish and chips. Like the number queueing system so you know where you are in the queue. Everyone in our party very happy from 1 years old to much older! Only thing we have to remember is they shut at 7pm.
