Mrs Salisburys Famous Tea Rooms in Maldon

Our second visit here and did not disappoint.Excellent coffee……so often a cappuccino is just hot milk with a vague hint of coffee but Mrs Salisburys cappuccino is full of coffee flavour.Tea is served in a silver teapot and provides nearly three cups of full flavoured tea.The cheesiness of the cheddar scone ( served warm ) was complimented by the gooseberry chutney.My chicken and bacon sandwich was outstanding. Moist chicken breast, crispy bacon, sunblush tomatos and creamy mayonnaise. It was accompanied by some crisps, salad with a nice dressing and coleslaw sprinkled with fresh chives.OK…..it was just a sandwich but the attention to detail made it one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time and worth every penny.Service was also very pleasant…..we will def be back as I intend to eat my way through the menu.

Lovely food, tea and ambience - my mother-in-law thoroughly enjoyed her birthday treat. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be returning!

I went here just before Christmas and thought the building was lovely. I went mid morning and had Californian eggs & tea. I thought it was very tasty but for the price of nearly £10 I did think 1 slice of toast was quite mean! It was nice food but for me it wasn't very good value. The staff were friendly. Lots of covid rules in place which is good.

Having been living here for years. Have only just found this place. Had a great tea, with friend before Christmas, and staff were great.

I was taken here for my birthday for afternoon tea, my partner, mum and mother in law had an amazing time, the venue is lovely, the food was perfect, the choice of tea wonderful, they more than catered for the vegetarian in our party. I can say with out any doubt it was by far the best afternoon tea I have had. The staff were so lovely, amazing customer service. We highly recommend and will go back for sure. Had a wonderful Christmas afternoon Tea at Mrs Salisbury’s, the amount of food per person was fantastic and nearly double what you would usually get anywhere else. Everything was lovely and fresh and a great selection of sandwiches and cakes. The ski gondola was a great touch and made it a unique experience, will definitely be going again next year!

We went for Festive Afternoon tea and sat in the Circus Room. The room is beautifully decorated, warm and cosy just perfect for our afternoon tea.We were served by the delightful Leanne who was very knowledgeable about the tea menu and happy to discuss our options and make recommendations. Such a lovely young lady and obviously very proud to work for Mrs Salisbury's.The sandwiches and cakes were beautifully presented on a lovely cake stand. Leanne took the time to explain what each item was and left us to enjoy our afternoon tea. This was absolutely fabulous. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious. The cakes were even better a wonderful selection of festive sweet treats. Quite simply better than any afternoon tea I have had in London!!

Went for a bottomless brunch at Mrs Salisbury’s. Lovely food and waitress service by Val was very friendly and attentive. Prosecco kept coming, definitely recommend Mrs Salisbury’s for brunch or lunch.

I attended this evening twice and it was so lovely, the food and drinks were amazing and the building decor and ambience were stunning. Please continue the cheese nights they are brilliant!

Having family over from the States we wanted to treat them to a real English afternoon tea.We have previously been to Harrods and Fortnum & Masons but what can we say…. Well this was by far the best, we opted for the festive afternoon tea and weren’t disappointed.Sandwiches and cakes were superb, service was excellent (thank you Lucy) the drinks and teas were excellent and well presented.The place is tastefully decorated and a lovely location to spend a couple of relaxed hours.With the rest of the family in the US wanting to visit us I can honestly say we will be back and won’t waste our money in London.Thank you all! Had our first breakfast at Mrs Salisburys today, which was excellent, just as good as their delicious lunches. The service, as always, was second to none. I would definitely recommend a visit to these tea rooms if you are in Maldon!

From entering the restaurant, it was a lovely experience. Cordially invited into the beautifully decorated premises and shown to our table on the upper floor. The waitress service was professional and friendly at the same time. The mulled wine and afternoon tea were delicious and very satisfying and we had to have boxes for the cakes we couldn’t manage to eat there.

I booked to go to their cheese and wine night to welcome in Christmas and I was not disappointed. Everything from the decor to the food and the service is amazing, the highest quality! I would highly recommend here to anyone not just for nights like this but any time of the day.

Fabulous selection of cakes and sandwiches as well as enjoying different teas from a large selection on the menu and the added bonus of a glass of bubbles went down a treat. The staff are really friendly and helpful and would definitely recommend it.

First visit today to this lovely little place and oh what joy it was. From the moment we arrived the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were handed menus and OMG what a choice just couldn't decide. Eventually I chose the cajun chicken sandwich, it was so yummy and filling I dont think I need any dinner. My mum had the omelette which was the size of a calzone pizza, both were delicious. Outside they have the ski gondolas too which look amazing and also 3 floors inside. Would definitely recommend and I cannot wait to return. Thank you to everyone there for a memorable experience.

I think I might move to Maldon so I can become a regular. My friends and I had an exceptional time at the Cheese and Wine evening in one of their ski gondolas. Great portions and quality produce - my favourite being the truffle Brie and Leicester blue. Both Amanda and Henry were incredibly attentive and added to the fun of the evening. It really is a very unique place and I will definitely be back. Thank you for making our girly night extra special xxxx

We had an amazing experience, with a very generous delious afternoon tea. They were so accommodating to our various dietary requirements, from fussy autistic reqirements, non fish eaters and diabetic too. We came home with 4 boxes of left overs. We also has mulled wine, spiced apple and prosecco too. Everything was delicious, fantastic value ( better than a few top london afternoon teas we agreed as a family) val was an absolute gem that served us in the ski gondola running back and forth in the rain, she was warm and friendly.

Such a beautiful afternoon tea in a gondola! The food was wonderful (so much we had to have a box to bring home!) (beautiful take home box!!) and the service from Laura was exceptional! Such a friendly, welcoming person who was there when we needed her and went over and above (offered to take the bag from the balloons for my friends birthday and bring them back after, and a surprise fountain candle as they were aware it was my friends birthday). I would highly recommend a trip and a visit to the gondola if you can get booked in! (Super cold day today but they had a heater, cushioned seats and blankets so not freezing, quite comfortable with jumpers).

Visited on 1st December with my mum for our Festive Afternoon Tea. We have been visiting this amazing place for 5 years now it’s become a mother and daughter tradition. We absolutely love visiting and cannot fault a thing at all. Your always greeted with a smile and always receive excellent service from start to finish. We love coming for afternoon tea even though we have never been able to fully finish the whole 3 tiers off as it always defeats us with how much delicious food you get, we always take a little something home for later. Highly recommend this place to everyone. We will continue to keep coming back for our tradition.

Where do I start , forgot came with additional glass of bubbly ! Warm welcome on entering & couldn’t fault this afternoon tea. Scrummy sandwiches , endless cakes and beautiful curried egg vol au vents . So much selection & tasted wonderful. So much to eat we had to take some home and scones to die for . Loved the menu and crackers and the room upstairs was decorated beautifully. Wonderful way to spend an afternoon and service was excellent ! Can’t wait to do another !

Our first Christmas celebration and what a lovely afternoon. Delicious afternoon tea with such attentive service and a beautiful setting in the ski lift. Nothing was too much trouble and even though we were outside the girls kept popping out to us to check we were ok, did we need a top up of anything and all with a lovely cheery smile. We booked the Festive Afternoon Tea as an extra special treat for the family and we were not disappointed! To start with it was held in a Gondola which was the perfect size for us. We started with a choice of prosecco, mulled wine or non alcoholic spiced apple punch for the adults and some fruit juices for the kids. I chose the mulled wine and was not disappointed, to say it was one the best I have tasted is an understatement.Then we get to the food and wowzers the finger sandwiches were a delight with a selection of ham and pesto, cheese and tomato chutney and the third was turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwich. They did not disappoint! Then there were some vol-au-vant which were egg with slight hint of curry and were delightful.Fruit scones were next on the agenda with clotted cream and strawberry jam yum!Then the last layer we had a selection of small cakes and treats which we ended up taking some home with us as there was so much and was to good to waste. Unlimited loose leaf Tea or Americano was amazing tooIf you want to feel special or even if you just want a small treat don't 2nd guess yourself head over to Mrs Salisburys.

I came here with 5 of my friends for the Christmas festive afternoon tea! It was absolutely delicious, so much variety and unlimited teas (so many yummy choices) plus your choice of prosecco, mulled wine or spiced punch (alcohol free). The staff went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable and the service was amazing! I would like to mention Val especially for making our visit so special and for checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed! I will definitely be going back with my mum and sister!!

I made a booking for a large family group to have afternoon tea. The booking was made by phone and the staff member I spoke to was friendly and helpful. He remained so when I phoned back a couple of days later to adjust the booking. On the day, we had a room to ourselves. Our service was led by Valerie, who was friendly, polite and efficient. When she realised it was my birthday, she acted on this too. The food was excellent. There were so many cakes, that we were provided with cake boxes to take the extras home. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere and would thoroughly recommend a birthday afternoon tea at Mrs Salisbury's.

Came here for afternoon tea. Loved the decor and staff are so lovely and friendly. The sandwiches were really nice with a great selection and the cakes were nice but far too sickly for us. It would be nice if they would offer some more sandwiches once finished.

My sister and I brought my Nan for afternoon tea for her 83rd birthday. My Nan has mobility issue which was catered for which was great and also my sister with a buggy.The food was delicious myself being vegan had lots of choice, my sister pescatarian was also catered for well.My Nan absolutely loved that she was presented with a fountain candle and the staff took interest in finding out about her special day.

We liked it here, reasonably priced, specially the Sandwiches were to die for. Would gave it 5 star, but the scones crumbled in my hand when cutting. But the staff were attentive. Tables wasn't too close either, which was a bonus. We were on the second floor of 3. Plus they had seating outside for the more nicer days. I think we'll go back for lunch one day. We traveled 15miles for this. And it was worth it. As Arnie says " We'll b back". It was my birthday, so nice treat. Would recomend tho book ahead.

Gorgeous food. I only visited a month is so ago and the sandwich and cake selection was different to what I had before, which was a nice surprise, both teas were lovely! Staff were very attentive and didn’t hesitate to make a fresh plate of food for our friend that had a nut allergy. Can’t wait to come again

Shame you can't book a table for lunch but we only waited a short while for a table to become available and it was absolutely worth it. The lunch menu is varied and reasonably priced and the surroundings are beautiful. We sat outside where there are heaters for each table and blankets supplied too for if you start to feel the chill. Hand gel was on the table and the tables were spaced apart. Food was so good (I recommend the cumberland sausage sandwich!). The staff were friendly and chatty too. I am from out of town but will definitely come back next time I'm in the area, based on today's visit.

This is a lovely place just off the main high street located in a quirky little side alley.It has a lovely little outside space but as it was cold we dined inside which was warm cosy and spread over 3 floors.The afternoon tea was lovely, the sandwiches were fresh and the fillings were imaganitive and tasty as were the sweet treats.All the staff were very polite, friendly and attentive. Would definitely pay another visit and would highly recommend.

We met friends for lunch today in the newly decorated Jungle Room. The menu was extensive, the staff were friendly & attentive & the surroundings vibrant and spotlessly clean.There was no rush to turn the table over .... We were there quite a long time! Highly recommended!

Had a wonderful lunch at Mrs Salisbury's today. First visit for lunch but will definitely not be the last. Mrs Salisbury's house is beautiful with such a lovely atmosphere and plenty of history. It has been very tastefully modernised without losing any of its character. The menu is really good with plenty to choose from and the food when it came was delicious and it wasn't too expensive either. The staff are extremely friendly without being over the top, attentive and efficient. Definitely recommend for a lovely lunch with friends or family.

Called in for a coffee and scone in the morning before a walk along the waterside. Service was first class and the food and drink matched that rating. Other diners were having breakfasts and the aroma was so good we decided to go back for lunch. We were not disappointed and the warm welcome was very pleasing - we were recognised from the morning visit. Once more we were not disappointed with the first rate quality of the food.Highly recommend a visit to this cafe/tearoom...

What a lovely spot to stop off at. I went with my Nan and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole time we were saying to each other how flavorous the food was. I love scones and am vegan so never have them anymore but they had vegan scones here and what a treat they were. Would definitely recommend. The waiter Val was so nice and friendly i couldn’t ask for more.

We booked for one of their occasional bistro evenings, and once again surpassed expectations. The dining area was reasonably spaced apart, we were spoilt for choice with the menu - I struggled to chose as I wanted at least two mains!The courses were all very generous portion sizes and everything was cooked to perfection. I was very pleasantly stuffed, and my partner could not finish her main (apparently needed to leave some room for the dessert!).The service once again was spot on - warm thanks to Val and Charlie who looked after us.In our experience, what sets Mrs. Salisbury’s apart is quality of food, an excellent chef, exemplary service - professional and friendly, and attention to detail.If you haven’t visited, you must - you will be well looked after!

Just had a delicious lunch at Mrs Salisbury’s tearooms in Maldon, Essex.Such a wonderful old building and setting,friendly and efficient staff and really tasty food! This was our first visit to these tearooms and I will definitely be visiting again and sharing the news with family and friends. First class!

Well I must say we had a superb lunch here. I had probably the best Ploughman's I have ever had and I've had a few! Three different types of cheese, lovely salad with an interesting dressing option and sour dough warm bread.The service was fast considering it was fairly busy and friendly, polite. Exemplary really. I thought prices were fair for what you got. Some pubs want to charge almost as much for a thick sandwich with a few lettuce leaves and a handful of crisps to try and justify the price.If I was to be picky the seats we chose right next to the "bar" area were a bit noisy when making coffees and banging out the coffee receptacles but there was other seating further away and of course outside as well.All in all fabulous and would highly recommend.

Haven’t been for awhile so lovely to sit in the new patio area in the sun and enjoy breakfast. It was like being on holiday. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious as always - full English and toast with marmalade, washed down by real tea. Everywhere is super clean and the Victorian toilet facilities were a treat. Always a pleasure to visit.

My sister took us to Mrs Salisbury's when we were visiting and we were intrigued by the Tea Room tag, as the building/furnishings and ambience felt more posh pub.We had a very enjoyable sandwich lunch in the open courtyard, with wine for the girls and beer for the boys - nice food and friendly service, plus decent value for money.Swayed between a 4 or 5 star review but the lovely staff swung it!

We visited on Sunday lunchtime with my Mother-in-law. We asked if there was wheelchair access and were immediately made to feel very welcome.The service was fabulous and so was the food, nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of room inside to manoeuvre the wheelchair and it was stored for us whilst we ate. We had cake to takeaway.

It’s our wedding anniversary today! We came out for a drive and stopped in Maldon on a whim for lunch and from the moment we were greeted at the front of the tea rooms to the time we left we were so impressed! The staff were fantastic and the food and service superb. We will definitely be back!

Today I took my Mum to Mrs Salisbury’s for the first time, neither of us had been there but I kept seeing great reviews online so we thought we’d try it. I must admit I was expecting a small tea room but we were absolutely blown away!!! The building is beautiful, and the decor is stunning (even the toilets are lovely!) The staff were incredible from start to finish, our server Val was soo lovely, going above and beyond and made us feel so special, nothing was too much for her! We had afternoon tea and the food itself was amazing! Such high quality sandwiches, with the best warm fruit scones I’ve ever had. We also had tried two of the house sodas which were more like mocktails, they were beautifully presented! I also had a chocolate and coconut tea which was delicious.We will definitely be returning and brining other family and friends. Whilst we had afternoon tea, we did see some lunch and dinner orders go past which looked lovely!

A group of 16 of us came two mornings on the trot, without booking, for breakfast and the staff were so accommodating and welcoming. The food is delicious and the customer service was fab, thank you so much guys, if in the area again we will be coming back!

Mrs Salisbury’s thank you for lunch today it was superb. My mum and I really enjoyed it. The staff were very cheerful and welcoming especially our waitress Valerie.

Really nice food with plenty of choices all beautifully presented but after I left I saw there was a small courtyard garden on the left of the building where I would have like to have been offered a table as sitting in the walkway up to the other seating felt like I was in an alleyway with everyone walking past close to my table

Popped in for an afternoon snack. Loved this quirky place. We sat outside but checked out the beautiful internal decor, all sparkling clean. We had cheese scones (nice) and one of our party had chocolate hazelnut tort (divine). Staff were lovely. The only down point was the music was competing with a busker who was playing nearby. I assume the staff were not attuned to this, and to be fair, we didn’t ask them to turn the music off. Wouldn’t put me off going again.

Excellent. Cheesy eggs with mushroom was perfect. Lovely granary toast. Great atmosphere and service. Coffee was better than expected but not excellent. I’ll forgive them. Overall though, top marks.
