Mr G's Bowling Centre in Forest Heath

Planned on bowling two games. Decided to stop after one. Owner refused to refund us for the game we did not play and told us to go back where we came from.

Went here for 12yr old birthday treat. First time here.. We played 2 games of bowling and booked carvery for after. Carvery food was great. Fresh produce, chef carving meat was friendly. Wide choice of veg. Very tasty. Great day. Would definitely visit again would reccomend. Would need to book. Good value for money. Looking forward to going again soon

First time here for the carvery and pleasantly surprised. Not the most salubrious surroundings admittedly but we could not fault the food or service. The carvery had four choices of meat, beef, turkey, lamb and pork. The potatoes and parsnips were delicious and the vegetables were not overcooked. There was plenty of meat and the meal was lovely and hot. I don't think it's the cheapest carvery around but well worth the money we paid.

First time been for food, slow service even on the basics like drinks but friendly service. Food was standard for the venue and price. Nice venue for families, friends or groups but they would suffer if larger groups were in at the time. However I’ll try again just to see as not completely disappointed as we had the time to wait.

Brilliant, the food was great and plenty for our group of 30+ Nice and quiet with excellent service at a very good price. We all enjoyed it.

We visited Mr G’ s as a works group for our Christmas party we had a great time with great service , great bowling and most of all a great buffet of food , the bar service was second to none so thanks to all at Mr G’s for a memorable Christmas doo 👍👍👍👍🎄🎄🎄

Visited with friends - 1st time to Brandon - wasn't sure what to expect "carvery in a bowling alley?" - what a surprise! The food was excellent - piping hot and a choice of 4 meats. The vegetables were regularly topped up and cooked to perfection with a great choice of sauces / gravy to accompany. Not sure how we all managed dessert but that was also good - not a single complaint from our table. Will definitely revisit next time we are in the area - what a find!!

I can honestly say Mr G'S breakfast is the best I've had.This is the second time I've been in and I'd never go anywhere else,the staff are so friendly and really welcome you.

Wonderful morning bowling and lunch. Called in for a drink before bowling the whole place is very clean from the bar/restaurant area to bowling lanes and toilets. Good offer for the children’s bowling, two games and chicken nuggets and chips for £7.00. With two games for adults £5.00. Bowling alley has 8/lanes all appear in good condition except the bumpers did not work on our lanes so we were moved to a different lane. The children’s meals were good we had jacket potatoes chilli an one beans both served with a fresh side salad. Service good too was asked when we were bowing if we wanted to order our food so ready when we finished. All other food seen looked good and restaurant area busy with non bowlers so a good sign. Other offers i.e. children’s parties are good value for money too.

The food was ok when it finally arrived.. But the service is sadly lacking.. The young lady concerned seemed more interested in entertaining her line of male drinkers.. Very very loudly.. Also the instruction.. Dont. Go downstairs seemed to be to save her walking further than a few feet from the bar.

The great place to meet up with friends and family and have fun! With ramps available for younger children, everyone can join in!

Very Friendly staff in the bowling Alley. Great staff in the restuarant. Nothing to much trouble to accommodate and help us regarding food requests etc. Great Time had by all

Came here with a large party of people.We did not eat here so I can’t comment on the food.... lady behind the bar was very helpful with our drink orders. We all had a very enjoyable fun evening playing bowls with a relaxed feeling, excellent value for money. Will definitely return.

We love traditional English food, and in particular a Roast Dinner. We therefore visit a lot of carverys on our travels and have to say this one, on our very own doorstep, is the best we have ever visited. The food is varied, very well cooked indeed. We had 4 choices of meat to choose from and an array of well cooked and tasty vegetables. The desserts were excellent too. I can recommend the Raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake! we had a choice of beef, lamb, Pork or Turkey and the portions were generous, the price value for money. It is advisable to book for the Sunday carvery.

Always a welcoming place, we had a game of bowling followed by a meal which was lovely as always. I do recommended if you are ever at a loose end on a Sunday the carvery is awasome..

After leaving it a bit late I called Mr G's hoping they could fit our works party in (nine of us), we arranged eating followed by bowling. On the night the staff were fantastic, we found out table decked out with Christmas crackers and decoration, all the food arrived together, the food was great and all of us from 16 to 60 had a great time bowling! It was a perfect way to entertain a broad age range for the evening, will definitely be back.

11 friends ranging in age from 18months to 83, met for a pre-Christmas get togethr. The carvery is always good value for money and enjoyable. Today it was excellent. The ambience was good spirited, the staff on great form. Roll on the next time.

3 of us showed up without a reservation due to late decision to eat out, very busy, but management assured we would be welcome and assigned us a table as a local friend and his wife were finished. Ordered drinks that came quickly. After 20 minutes, one of the team gave us directions to the carvery where one of the management team was carving. Choice of 4 meats, all tasted wonderful and the gravy was excellent. Finished and all plates cleaned, offered a range of desserts,but despite what we observed, they looked yummy. Will go back with my family soon. Thank you for an enjoyable lunch

It was a wet day so we looked for an indoor activity and came across the lovely Mr G's. Its a small bowling alley of 8 lanes but is fully kitted out, we were pleasantly surprised and had a good game (cheap too).

Average breakfast at Mr G’s. Excellent portion size but still average. Excellent price but still average. Hope to see a future improvement.

Visited here during a damp rainy day whilst on holiday nearby and was pleasantly surprised that there was a bowling alley in this little town. Only 8 lanes which makes it feel much more friendly than the usual massive out of town complexes I have been to in the past. Very reasonably priced also. Very clean toilets. Can't comment on the food as did not eat here

We visited Mr G’s on Friday for my son’s 9th Birthday.. according to Harry it was ‘best day ever’. With ages ranging from 70 to 9 we all had a great time. Thank you for making it extra special with the balloons and banners for our table. Such a kind and thoughtful touch. Couldn’t recommend Mr G’s more for a lovely family evening. I was pleasantly surprised by this place - the cleanliness, and the bar. There's only about 8 lanes so, like us, you may have a short wait for one. Anyway, my 2 daughters (aged 3 and 5) both beat me!! I beat my wife, though, so that's OK I suppose. There's no parking outside, but there is a free car park just around the corner by the local community centre.

It is possible that you might look at Mr G's from the road and be put off by the external appearance.

We loved the room thank you and it so very at home in the room we had everything we need but sad when we had go home

Me and hubby have just been for a Sunday carvery. There was a great selection of meats, lamb, Turkey, beef and pork. The selection of vegetables were cooked just right, we both really enjoyed our meal. The staff were pleasent and welcoming as they always are and the place was lovely and clean.

Very nice food and service. Although a little prices there is a very friendly atmosphere and service.

I can't fault Mr G's, the staff are very welcoming, food is great and although I've only bowled here once there was no complaints from me or the kids. Would highly recommend it for bowling or just for something to eat and drink.

We eat at the carvery most Sundays, great food, great choice and friendly staff. Cannot speak too highly of this establishment, they even let my husband bring me home my dinner on a plate when I was too ill to go one week.

We eat every day (Brunch) and Sundays (Carvery) best in the area,bowling and Sports TV all on site and Motel.

My family and I had an excellent time here at MR G's bowling alley. We bowled two games and then enjoyed some time on the air hockey table. The venue was clean and the staff were presentable. All in all a great day out.

We attend this eatery every other Sunday for their carvery lunch. Now been customers for over three years and still unable to find a fault. Staff, service and fresh food always superb.

Went for lunch here the other Day with my friend and was completely discussed at the way we was spoken to by the owner, first he insulted my black friend for what he was wearing then after we left some change at the bar after paying ( before our meal ) he commented ' a black man leaving a tip .... I was completely shocked and couldn't believe what I had just heard, we awkwardly had our food and left wouldn't recommend and I won't be going back again

we popped in for a lunchtime sandwich..which is ordered at the bar before you choose a seat..i was asked after paying,,where will you be sitting..i answered down the front in the windows..i was told ..we don,t like old people sitting there in case they choke on their food.and we cannot see them to help..i asked if he was joking..no.what a fool.we sat where he could see us but he them came from behind the bar to sit and chat with a friend..hidden from us..so he could not have saved us from choking..the sandwich was excellent..shame the barman is an idiot.

When me and my sister arrived for our bowling trip the service was good although we had to wait a for someone to come and serve us. However, the staff were friendly and sorted us out with our bowling shoes straight away. As it was during half term the bowling alleys were empty and there was only one other lane being used so it was quite peaceful. Been here many times before, and fails to disappoint.

My brother and his partner took me there as my treat for them letting me stay with them. When I saw it I was not hopeful for a decent steak, which my brother had promised I could get. So we ordered at the bar and paid up front and went back to sit in the booth with his partner. I was a bit perturbed by the language from the booth next to us occupied by some youngish men. To be honest I was wanting to leave. Long story short they left the food came, from the garlic bread starters we all shared to the last mouthful of my desert it was very tasty. I am so fussy with steak normally I will only order fillet, my brother assured me it was good and I really enjoyed it. It was cooked to perfection, the sides were good to. Thank you for restoring my faith in other steaks and whatever you do don't change your supplier

The food was of good quality and there was a good selection, however I would like to make a few suggestions.Who ever is in charge of portion control really needs to be more careful as I ended up with hardly any chips and was hungry after my meal whilst another person had what appears to be a somewhat large portion and ended up leaving theirs. which by the time they had finished would have been cold and made me look greedy to ask for them. To save embarrassment just make sure all the portions are the same size.I was driving and when eventually someone came out of the backroom to serve me I thought the price that I was charged for a simple soda was a little steep. If it had been less expensive maybe I would have bought a desert to make up for the shortfall in my chip portion?The bowling was reasonable however there didn't appear to be anyone on hand to assist if the machinery broke down. There wasn't a good selection of balls either.The game of bowling was a good price and we were able to start the game when we choose to without any hanging about.Pretty average, if it didn't have a bowling area I wouldn't have made a special effort

Went with family for the first time and found the place very friendly, the staff helpful and the meal was very good lots to eat and a good portion of meat and all at a good price.Will defently go again . Would recommend Mr G's.

I only usually go there to eat food. Last time I went was for Sunday Carvery. The beef was a bit too hard for my liking but the sausages, roast potatoes, stuffing and gravy was good. I had ice cream for dessert. Next time I go there for the carvery I must try their Turkey. I have not been put off roast dinners.

Came today with my husband, two sons and my baby. We booked over the phone which was quick and easy. On arrival there was no queue. The bowling shoes were all Velcro which was easy, laces are annoying. There was a ramp up to the lane for our pram. Our names were all displayed ready for us to start the fun. Everything was clean and tidy, toilets are really dated. Drinks were reasonable. My only niggle was that it was rather cold!

The staff here are all very friendly and efficient. I have been coming here for years to meet up with family and friends. The is basic but very good. Mr G's is also a child friendly place.

The Bowling Centre is well organized, clean and well kept, Great family fun, friendly bar staff. delicious cocktails, what more to ask for?

Visited between Christmas and New Year, two games ten pin, lanes in great condition, friendly people both as customers and staff, great atmosphere especially for kids. Food very good value and only a short wait, good extensive menus again especially for kids, drinks reasonably priced, very with the visit, will go again.

My partner and I went here for a carvery last Sunday, usually we avoid carveries as our experience in other places haven't been exactly good, we prefer just to have a roast, however, this was absolutely delicious and exceeded any our expectation, firstly and most importantly was the high quality of the meat, 4 were available, I had beef and pork, my partner had lam and pork, turkey was the other option, it was delicious,cooked perfectly, it melted in your mouth, you could definitely tell it was from a butcher, which I later found out and had it confirmed by the chef and also the chef gave very generous portions, more than 3 slices of each, all the sauces,apple,horseradish,cranberry were home made, the veg was lovely and fresh, ok so the yorkshire puds weren't home made and neither was the parsnips or roast potatoes but it did not spoil the delicious food.After the food we sat in the bar and chatted to the chef and also his brother who are both owners of the establishment, they were very friendly as were all the staff. I cannot fault this meal and company at all, very reasonably priced too, well worth a visit.

I thought long and hard about my rating and I decided on 3 star as average.... my reasons for this is because it is average, but do not take this the wrong way, average is absolutely fine! We had one lane game of bowling which was lovely, there are around 6 lanes and it was fun. We then went and ate through in the restuarant part, the food was nice, normal stuff Burgers, Pizza, Lasagne etc. I had a Pizza which was very nice and all the food come out together and was hot. All in all it was a nice night out and value for money is good. For this to be a 4 star rating you would need uniforms for the staff and a bigger selection of food but honestly if your after a bite to eat and a bit of bowling this is perfect if your near BrandonThank you and im sure we will be back at somepoint :)

Always get first class food and service. Staff are very attentive and always ensure you are looked after. Happily recommend Mr Gs to anyone.

We were introduced to Mr G's last Sunday by our neighbours (a family of four) and, before going, hoped at best we might get a burger & chips (or soup in a basket?!) but WOW! what a surprise! A first class carvery, with 4 meats, was on offer, accompanied by a great choice of vegetables, plus Yorkshire pudding, rich gravy and all the expected sauces. The staff were all most welcoming & helpful, both at the servery and in the restaurant itself, as well as at the bar. There was a comprehensive dessert menu shown on request but we had eaten enough by then and moved on to the bowling lanes for post-dining activity! We really had a good time, with lots of laughs with the bowling and the satisfaction of being well-fed, and all at a very acceptable and easily repeatable price. See you again soon, Mr G's!

popped in for a lunchtime sandwich..no atmosphere except a woman who was either the owner or manager sitting in state shouting into a mobile phone..the food was fine..but not the mobile phone goddess

My partner had to stay at Mr Gs apartments and never seen pictures as bad in my life first lot he stayed in damp throughout shower leaked and not seen a cleaner all time they was there 3 weeks in total. 2nd lot off apartments infested with rats rubbish all outside rats even in the fridge and he offered 3 blokes a free burger he takes the piss needs shutting down. 3rd lot of apartments he had a bed in the kitchen well if u can call it that seems there wasn't a sink so pots had to be washed on the room where toilet and sink was. Shower in the main hall way with just a glass panel so no dignity whatsoever totally disgusting. This man and his family who run all these establishments wants closing down and I have taken this to health and safety and local council. I have seen so many bad faults in any place pictures and videos taken but it's only some

As I stated in a previous review, I visit Mr G's Every Sunday for lunch, but these past 3 Sundays there has been no carvery as the chef was away on holiday!So we had to choose meals from the menu :-) There was a great choice and everything that my friend and I had looked & tasted great. The steaks were done to perfection, the Chili very tasty with a good spice blend, the Scampi was lovely too.All their food is cooked fresh to order, comes out nice & hot, well presented & tastes real good too.It made a nice change to be able to sample their main menu, but I am so glad that the chef is back for this Sunday as I have so missed my carvery :-) As always, the staff there are always friendly, kind and considerate, they can't do enough to help.Very happy to highly recommend Mr G's to anyone :-)

Phoned through to book lane and two games. Very polite chap at the bowling centre took our booking and later change our booking time.Found the bowling centre easily in Brandon and parked in free car park near by.Friendly greeting on arrival. Changed into clean good condition bowling shoes. Good school holiday offer of £5/person for two games.All our names were loaded by the staff - that saved us from having to waste time fathoming out the computer system.We enjoyed two fun games using a good wide choice of bowling ball finger sizes and weights. The cosmic graphics and lights added to the atmosphere. Got a round of drinks from the bar which was well priced. Good choice. Really enjoyed our visit to Mr G's Bowling Centre and would recommended it highly for a fun few hours of bowling.

Catered event with a buffet that was really very good. The restaurant is really nice; they have a wonderful array of food options and a large area for bowling. Very nice. Definitely will revisit!!!

Went here with my son, we didnt eat, just had 3 games of bowling. Please check before going as they often have special prices on and you can save quite a bit of money. The staff were very friendly and helpful and as we weren't sure about how the system worked (scoring). They showed us what to do. The allies were very clean and laid out well. Easy access to the bar and restaurant if required. Great fun, weren't hurried at all , go and enjoy yourself

After visiting Mr G's now for some time, I can say, hand on heart, that this is the "BEST" Sunday carvery you will find anywhere local, but best to phone and book first, so not to be disappointed as they get very busy. The meats are always cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes are "ALWAYS" crispy, you are offered a good selection of veg and beautiful gravy! To top this off, you find a staff, who are caring and courteous, and can not do enough to help. I have also been fortunate to sample some of their breakfast menu, again, this was cooked to perfection & served with a smile!I can recommend Mr G's, their service & their food, and of course the staff, especially ones who always make me feel so welcome & look after me, Thank you.

Having eaten nearby one evening we decided to go bowling at this venue. When we entered there was a sign telling us to go to the bar if we wished to bowl. We did this and bought a drink before checking in for the bowling.There was no waiting and the cost of two games each for two people with shoe hire came to about £8 if memory serves me correctly. It was ridiculously cheap anyway.The bowling lanes (I think 8) were in good order with no breakdowns or problems and the atmosphere very pleasant. We will certainly be returning to bowl here again.

We visited Mr G's while on a trip to High Lodge Thetford Forest from Centre Parcs. After playing in the fresh air all morning we were hungry so decided to have lunch at Mr G's too. It took a while to track down Mr G's, even with satnav and once we found it it was equally as tricky to find the way in. There is no signage to say the doors are round the corner and it looked closed from the street. The free parking mentioned in other reviews was hard to find and quite a walk away so we parked in Tescos and walked into town, at least we could find our way back there since we're not familiar with the town.We ordered food. My daughter has allergies but no effort was made to check what she could have or double check the ingredients of things I asked about. This is poor for a restaurant/cafe these days and I have to say it's the first time I've been faced with someone who didn't really seem bothered or take the allergy queries seriously. This is the main reason I'm marking down to 2 out of 5. The staff didn't seem that friendly or welcoming, no one offered us a menu or even said hello when we arrived which was pretty disappointing. I'm not sure how long we would have waited before someone approached us but I went and ordered at the bar as we were all hungry so didn't want to wait all afternoon to eat. When the food arrived it was ok. It was cooked fresh for us which was nice and we all enjoyed our food.After lunch we went to bowl. The bowling was deserted so we had the place to ourselves pretty much apart from a couple of people doing maintenance. The bowling alley seemed clean, there were plenty of balls to choose from and the decor was quite 'nice' in terms of bowling alley decor. We had fun while bowling and I'd give the bowling 4 out of 5. Overall I'm really disappointed about the food allergy issue and this is a serious shortfall that needs to be addressed by management.

Have visited Mr Gs many times. Each time the service is excellent and the staff very courteous and efficient. Would definitely recommend Mr Gs to anyone who wants to have a nice meal out in the company of family or friends.

If anyone has ever sampled a better Sunday carvery than this, PLEASE let me know! I have no idea how many carveries I've sampled over the last ten years (granted mainly in East Anglia), but this is by far the very best. So much so that my wife and I are now regular customers. Apart from the fact that my wife is disabled and there are no "close-by" parking facilities, Sunday lunch is second-to-none. Service, staff, food quality and quantity, price, atmosphere all excellent.

I love this Bowling Alley. Highly recommended. Food is great and its very friendly. Free parking in Brandon too which is a bonus. No wonder this place is so popular. Me and the family will definitely visit again.

Visited for the bowling on a monday afternoon, and had the alley to ourselves. Made for a great relaxing few games of bowling. Very reasonably priced. Decided to have some snacks, a jacket potato with beans, and some cheesy chips. Both were hot and delicious and were brought to us at the lane to eat. A great afternoon had.

Excellent food. The sunday carvery is second to none. Great customer service and great value for the price you pay. By far the best around.

We've been to Mr G's a few times to eat now and haven't been disappointed. Very good value. Large portions very tasty and great service. Would definitely recommend whether your having a day out with the kids or an evening out with friends!

Its great fun considering its a small town. There is a bar there and it serves good food, so a great place for a complete family night out. The only down side is, you may have to wait for a lane as its quite small.

Staff superb, service excellent and the high standard of the Sunday carvery food is without doubt PERFECT. The tables and chairs coupled with the decor smacks of the 1970's, but then again my wife and I can suffer the surroundings as long as the food and staff, coupled with the prices, are good. All three are second-to-none. Highly recommended.

I eat occasionally at Mr G,s in the market square of Brandon, they seem to accommodate my palate with delicious dishes made freshly. I would recommend the ribs and steak and coleslaw to melt in your mouth, yummy.This is a restaurant with a buzzing vibe it also has a bowling alley along side with 12 lanes

The rooms linked with the bowling are very poor.you have a shower in the hallway,with a clear screen, which means no privacy.the bedsheets i had are stained with paint and the pillow is stained with blood,nuff said

We had a really great night here on Saturday, for a works night out.There were 13 of us in total, we had a meal then 2 games of bowling.The food was fantastic, really good value and really tasty and we were really well looked after by the staff. We had a great laugh bowling, and will definitely be organising more nights out there soon.We've had Sunday carveries here too in the past and they've been great as well. A really nice, family owned and run place, I'd recommend it to anyone.

On a freezing day in Brandon we were walking around looking for a place to eat and someone pointed us to Mr. G's. Honestly, we would have never found it otherwise as it isn't really apparent from the outside that there is a restaurant within. Great little place! The owners couldn't have been more friendly and the dishes, club sandwich, bangers and mash, etc., were very tasty and served quickly.Highly recommend for lunch anyway, and will be back.

We have been here a few tines for their Sunday Carvery, which is always very good.The other day we decided to drop in for lunch on a Saturday and was very impressed. The service, atmosphere and food was all great. Every item ordered was delivered promptly and exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be going back again.
