Mr Cod in Wycombe

Ordered Fish and Chips and Fish Cakes. Food was Absolutely Disgusting. Chips tasted like they were twice cooked. Fish tasted too oily and crunchy. Very disappointed. Not worth the £12 I paid. Food: 0/ 5

Very friendly staff members and very good food! The place just needs a bit of personality and the interior seemed very bare.

Food has gone down hill. The worst chicken and fish place in high Wycombe. Chicken Burger meal is a rip off disgusting. And the owner needs to look after his hygiene always scruffy and doesn't want to be there absolute bo customer service.

This is the second time I've sent my kid in to collect some chips for us and they've overcharged and given stale old cold chips. I'm so annoyed because it's too late to drive back. They don't answer their phone, ever. Shameful immoral behaviour to treat a child like that. Awful people.

Burger with hardly chicken in, nearly half of the bun just had a bit of lettuce. Quality is gone down and prices are gone up. Very poor would not recommend to anyone.

It was all good until i ordered, where I received Verbal abuse from staff, and when i tried to ignore it and give them my card they continued to be rude to me

Food is great but service is slow

Ah Mr cod, a name that deceives us all as they mainly do chicken and masala fish and no cod whatsoever. The food is good, yes the chips are a little greasy like your nans hair on a Sunday, but they nice and chunky. The spicy chicken burger is unique in a good way, flavourful but no spice whatsoever, they really need to look up the word “spice” in the Oxford dictionary. Staff are good, I mean don’t expect top service when they be frying all day. The mirror tho needs a clean, legit could fool ur grandad thinking he looks like a young James Bond. Prices are expensive, but if u that broke for burger and chips u really need to have a sit down with urself and ask what’s wrong. Shame they don’t deliver cuz it means u physically have to go there and take in the smells and the clueless bus drivers revving outside. Otherwise give this place a try,

Never really set the world alight in its supposed hay day around 15-20 years ago but these days the food is dreadful. The chicken smells, it’s not cleaned properly, overly greasy. The fish is just an oily casing with poor quality (most likely old) fish inside. The queues that would go out of the door & down the street are no more (took them long enough to realise). The recipe for every menu item is pretty much what it was 20 years ago except the quality is even worse than it was back then. Here’s a suggestion guys, tear the place down & start again!

Wouldn't recommend if your’re looking for quality. More often than not the fish is drenched in oil so much so you can see the west lining up to colonise. The chicken in the burger seems as if its been refried and is literally half the size of the bun as if they trying to tuck it in for bed?? Chips are a hit and miss, sometimes they are okay but this time it was like biting into a rock. Was so bad i Vowed i wouldn’t eat here again for a year, lets see how it goes. I came back after 2 days to edit this post as i cant get over how bad the food was. Every so often i get flash backs and cold sweats when i remember the occurrence. Alhamdulillah I went through the pandemics untouched, but this, this nearly got me. Stay safe people

I have really enjoyed the masala fish from Mr Cod and their chips are like no other!! Fast on delivery or pick up, tasty as it gets.

Masala fish is the best. Chicken burger and dippers very nice too.

Cheesy chips and chilli sauce for the Mrs every visit including NewYears Day 2023 Expect a queue at peak times. We keep going back despite having moved a greater distance away - the quality is always top-notch... the offering is good enough to have people parked on double yellows on both sides of the road to run in to get their food! Staff are incredibly friendly and service is as fast as commercial fryers can cope with.

Low quality food. Burger was tasteless, chips like just taken out of hot boiling water.

Coming here all the way from central London almost every weekend to get the spicy chichen. Their wraps and chicken is the best I've tried.

Would off been 5* if i wasnt over charged but i did go a few times that week as the food was that nice

4 fish and chip dinners, 2 sausage in batters, 2 cans of drinks and 2 apple pies and 8 dips for under £40. Very impressed. Nice food, nice staff. Only had 3 fish ready and we wanted 4 so the lovely chap cooked us 4 from scratch! Can’t complain!

Good location for some amazing eating, waited for almost 20 minutes for food but its not a big issue because food was much tasty and hot n fresh. We two friends had a good experience of their delicious fish. Would recommend

My wife and I went there for evening meal and ordered chicken burgers. Luckily we did not have to wait for to be seated. Amazingly made burgers, got our order in less than 10 minutes. Great ambiance and attentive staff. Would surely be back

Yes, prices have increased, but so they have everywhere. In response to other review , i remember Masala fish and chips being approx 8 quid Sept last year, never the £4.99 quoted elsewhere. For £9.99 you get a fair sized piece of delicious fish the only pla(i)ce i know of that does Masala plus plenty of golden chips. I am not in Wycombe much now, having previously lived there for 30 plus years but whenever i return to visit friends/ family, i ensure i have at least one take out from Mr Cod.

Back on form... Saturday 30th July 2022 Thats more like it! Lovely bit of fish and the chips were fabulous. Even though this was after 10.30pm, the batter was thin, crisp and fresh, and everything tasted great. Well done Update 7th July 2022 - Waited 15 minutes for fresh batch of 2 x haddock and chips...got home and the quality of the potatoes was awful and the oil appears to have been stale as there was a poor flavour as well as very little fish v batter. The fish was also cold and not it's usual flakey lovliness... Prices up too, so you need to be careful to still offer quality products...hope you are back on form soon

Food is ok but service is poor. People need to smile and a please and thank you goes a long way Thought I'd give this a second chance and things haven't changed. Poor service, took 30 mins to get 2 chicken burgers out.

Slow service. Had to repeat my order 4 times. No customer service skills. The need more staff.

Fish and chips. A local showed me this place. He asked for me. Everything seemed to me to be of very good quality and, above all, representative of the culture.

Staff aren't professional. Don't provide basic sauces for its meals and charge extra for everything.

We always buy fish and chips from Mr cod but in few months time masala fish price is gone from £4.99 to £9.99 each so for a family of 4 it will cost you £40👍😬 No authority out there to check if they are charging their customer a fair price🤔 Never going back there.

Gotta be the best tasting chippy in Wycombe we had some food couple of weeks ago and was really impressed with the portions and price. We will definitely be back.

We only use Mr Cod occasionally, but, whenever we do, the food is always good, service too.

Have been a customer for many many years but the last couple of times have been really dissatisfied with the food and service. This time it was appalling. The food was horrible! Asked for salt and vinegar, found out that none was added and the chips tasted bland and were very soggy. The chicken was way too salty and had a weird smell from the oil and colour was off - perhaps the oil had not been changed for a while. Was served by the owner , he gave terrible service , and food portions were missing !! No napkins and the sauces have been changed as well. Really disappointed considering I have been a loyal customer for long time. Unfortunately will not be coming back again.

Always really busy, long queues outside to get in. It is good value for money but definitely wouldn't call it fast food. Decent quality, good range of items on the menu and portions are very good. But the overall experience is average as there is always such a wait to get food and parking is also difficult

I ordered Fish and a small chips. They re-fried / re-warmed the chips which had been standing on the side in a frying basket. I sat in my car to eat them and the chips were the worst I have had in years. I couldn't tell what kind of fish it was but it was awful as well. I had to throw the fish away as I couldn't stomach it. Hard in places and soggy mush in others. Just terrible!

As much as I love the taste of the food from here, the staff are almost anti white person and speak very little english. Everytime I order they seem to struggle to grasp the concept of not putting mayonnaise on a burger and the lady there in the evenings is nothing but unpleasant. However if you go during the afternoon you miss this white-hating lady and are instead served by some very pleasant blokes that speak impeccable english and provide very good service. Get rid of that woman and it would be 5 stars.

This is a tough one for me as I absolutely love the fried chicken here and sometimes travel all the way from London to buy grub from here, but i'm in the business of giving 100% honest food reviews ONLY!!! Here we go then: The fried chicken 9/10 You get are a big portion of proper chips not french fries 7/10 The staff on the other hand are rude towards anyone who isn't Asian and I've witnessed this on numerous occasions, for that reason they get 2/10 for customer service.
