The food, particularly the segedin is always delicious. The desserts are simply amazing too. Presentation and drinks 5*. Been here many times over the years for these reasons. The waiter is set in his ways and is rude by British standards, but suggests good dishes that you might like. However, we brought friends to the restaurant and he told one of them to choose another dish because she is vegetarian and not vegan, as there is only 1 vegan dish left (the one she wanted) and it’s reserved for vegans, and she is not vegan. He said it like that. Unacceptable. Anyway, great place for truly delicious Slovakian food.

Fantastic place, cannot fault anything at all. Food was delicious, cocktails and drinks absolutely on point. The staff were very friendly, attentive and accommodating. Highly recommend this place for a delicious meal in a good atmosphere :) Especially with young children! One of my top facourite of all time places in Oxford.

Absolutely incredible food, as well as warm friendly service. It has the intimacy and kindness of a mom-and-pop place, but is classy and high-end in its decor. Lovely atmosphere that makes it perfect both for a casual night out and for more official dinners. The portions are very generous, and the price is really a bit lower than I'd expect for the high quality and portions of food. I had the halusky with sauerkraut for my starter, confit duck for my main (which comes with gratin potatoes), and Slovak fruit pudding for dessert. I was more than stuffed by the end (I think 2 courses is enough, here), and everything tasted amazing. My water was refilled periodically without me needing to ask, and the dishes came out quickly. All in all, couldn't have asked for a better night!

First waiter was very unfriendly, and we waited about 50 mins for the food.

We were pleasantly surprised by Moya, with a rather simple but tidy atmosphere with only 1 or 2 other tables. We shared a few starters, which were great for sharing and were light enough to get us going. I ordered the confit duck for main course, and the meat was absolutely stunning, falling off the bone into a lovely sweet and salty sauce, alongside a potato gratin with a rich liquid cream. We finished with 3 desserts, full of fruit and summery flavours. The mojito I ordered was also well balanced and went down well.

Had an amazing meal at Moya! Pork shank was out of this world and the meat fell of the bone served with tasty potato gratin which was beautiful. We had the rhubarb and custard cake which is the best dessert we’ve ever tasted. Definitely worth a visit and we hope to come back soon! 5 stars!

Absolutely fantastic Czech food, great service, great prices and good options for vegetarians. Had the haluzsky with sauerkraut and the plum dumpling dessert which were both brilliant.

Lovely restaurant serving comforting Central European dishes. The halusky starter was fantastic, with a strong aroma of paprika and balanced well with the sauerkraut. The pork shank was also nice, tender and flavoursome meat, and not too massive as to be intimidating to finish. The cocktails were very nice, and the service was friendly. The goulash was unfortunately quite disappointing, as the sauce was surprisingly bland, and could have done with some sour cream for contrast.

The lamb shank special was fantastic.

We've been twice now, and both times have been absolutely fantastic! The food is delicious: we both love devil's toast (both "normal" and veggie), the meat dishes have been outstanding (I've never had such tender pork before, highly recommend the pork shank), and the cocktails are lovely (and plentiful!). To top it off, the service is fantastic, and you can tell that everyone who works there cares about what they do. The first time was so good, my girlfriend chose this as the place for her birthday meal. We plan on making this our regular go-to treat, and we'd recommend it to anyone who finds themselves nearby!

Lovely restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and unusual but delicious food. Highly recommended for something a little bit different (Slovak cuisine).

Slovak cuisine is not widely represented in the UK and some ingredients can be often difficult to find, but these guys do a fantastic job at producing the most delicious traditional dishes I've ever tasted outside of my parents' kitchen. I'd highly recommend visiting! This is the only place I know of that will put Becherovka in your cocktail (Honeysuckle,thank me later).

Quick, diligent service. Vegetable and potato salad was great, not too filling but enough to whet the appetite. Made space for the duck confit, which was crispy and juicy with a superb gravy and relish to boot. Finished things off with a traditional bubble fruit cake, which was also incredible. Not to mention the cocktails, which were delicious and quite strong, even on the happy hour! Top marks across the board everyone, will absolutely come again. Ďakujem veľmi pekne!

Brilliant as every time we visit. Husband and I visited yesterday for my late birthday dinner and we loved it as always. I had Bryndzove halusky in my mind and so I ordered them and they were delicious. Lighter texture than traditional and it worked great (removed the stodginess and feeling stuffed after). I am intrigued on how this was achieved. Recipe please! I managed pudding still afterwards - yummy as always. Friendly staff and everything great. Thank you

Oh well, if I can give a 0 star if I could. 1. The attitude. The old English guy was literally saying Slovakian food is very different than Czech food when my fiancee was showing him a picture of what she wanted. In the end, because of he insisted, my fiancee didn't ordered the food she wanted. Well, my fiancee is a Czech, and she knows there is not too much difference. Has he ever heard of Czechoslovakia? And why would he even trying to correct an ACTUAL CZECH who knows the food more than him? 2. Flavour. I'm Chinese, I was seeking for a high expectation on flavours and texture. But oh god, IT HAS NO TASTE and it's far different than the original slovkian one, don't argue with me, my mother in-law is from Slovakia and she is a chef. I ordered Goulash, should be more salty as people use dumpling to dip and eat, dumpling has no flavour that's why you should make it saltier. TEXTURE wise: well, the meat, ughhh, did you marinate it or not? Beef looks like small strips, chewy like paper. Well, I sincerely suggest your chef to try and put some salt and corn flour plus egg white on the meat when marinating the meat. Then it would be soft, literally soft. 3. Portion, I really don't like the portion. Small, goulash is supposed to be served with 4 dumplings instead of 3. And the beef portion is way too small. 4. Service. No one come to ask how's the food. NO ONE. Until we pay the bill, and they saw us didn't finish the food. 5. I suppose a Slovakian restaurant at least should have some Slovakian or Czech people work in there but no. It's like you go to a Chinese restaurant and there is a Boris Johnson saying what would you like to have today. Disgrace, I'm really not happy about that! If you are English cook your own fish and chips. Don't make the food from other countries, because it will ended up as I'm typing the bad reviews. YOU ARE DESTROY THE REPUTATION OF THE FOOD FROM OTHER COUNTRY.

Fuimos durante Eat Out to Help Out y lo pasamos de maravilla. Desde el exterior, puede ser sencillo, pero la decoración y el ambiente interior es otro nivel. Ninguno de nosotros había comido comida eslovaca en el pasado y todos estábamos muy impresionados, especialmente con el besugo y las albóndigas baby. El servicio también fue de muy alta calidad. Iremos allí de nuevo.

The dishes were nicely presented and the portion sizes very generous. The dessert selection was a little limited but we were too full from the main course anyway! Good value for money and would definitely visit again.

Amazing to be back, post-lockdown. The food is Central European but light and elegant. Hearty portions served with a smile. And truly the best espresso martini in Oxford. Simply: a must!

El personal era muy amable y el lugar en general tenía un ambiente agradable. Si alguna vez visita Oxford, debe ir al restaurante para disfrutar de una auténtica experiencia de comida eslovaca.

Moya was our first choice venue for eating out post-lockdown. Great family run restaurant- fabulous food and service. Very carefully managed with regard to customer and staff safety. You have to try the dumplings.

What a find, after looking through google and trip advisor came across this gem of a place not far from where we were staying. Friendly service, fantastic food (can highly recommend the escalopes) pork shank looked amazing. Cocktails super strength. A fab night out, would highly recommend.

Cena encantadora con la familia, sentados sin reservas el viernes por la noche. Los platos principales abundantes estaban deliciosos con porciones generosas. Me sentí como si volviera a Europa Central: sabores y presentación auténticos. Camareros encantadores que fueron más allá de las expectativas. Agradable vino tinto afrutado español para acompañar. En general, muy buena comida y experiencia. Altamente recomendado.

El menú de cócteles es excelente y tiene un precio muy bueno, con cócteles clásicos hechos a la perfección. Servicio de mesa, a diferencia de los otros bares en Oxford donde tienes que estar parado por siglos. El personal es amable y conocedor. El único inconveniente es que la decoración es un poco clínica. Un poco de iluminación más suave lo haría un poco más agradable por las tardes, pero sigue siendo un lugar muy excelente con una agradable y tranquila atmósfera.
