My first trip to this restaurant and I was so impressed! I am not a big fish lover but my wife really wanted to go so of course I had no choice! I had the chowder to start and sea bream for my main course. I have never had seabream before but my god this tasted amazing - it has a sort of roast pepper and barley mix below it which really complimented the saltiness of the fish. It also came with truffle fries which I wish I had of ordered an extra portion of. Definitely put this restaurant on your list if you are visiting belfast!

booked dinner for 5pm in mourne seafood belfast. arrived at the restaurant at 4.50pm to be abrutly turned away by rude maitre d. Surely a better approach would be to invite your guests in to your restaurant to order a drink. It was jokey really then to return 10 mins later. I found upon being seated I had to ask for everything- the drinks menu, water etc. just very poor service. none of the waiters could recall who ordered anything what drink what food. appeared to be no training. poured wine when not required and to diners who did not drink wine. sloppy basic service. toilets also need attention- tired uninviting not nice. portion size of dessert - gimmicky . definitly would not return

We managed to get a late lunch table for 2 today and had the most incredible meal...We arrived at 4pm and were advised that they only had 2 tables available until 5pm so it's definitely worth booking (this was a Wednesday afternoon!). We promptly ordered a bottle of Sancerre (£30), oysters Japanese style (1/2 dozen for £9.50), crab claw in chilli butter, fish cakes, piri piri prawns (all £7-9 each approx) and the seafood casserole (£12). Every dish was so tasty & fresh. The oysters were some of the best we've ever tasted and incredible value - with a ginger and soy dressing, very different but we both remarked on how well the Japanese dressing worked with the oyster (like a sushi oyster!). The crab claw was well worth the hard work of cracking the shells and the seafood casserole was full of chunks of different fish and shellfish with small potatoes, a really good dish for lunch or dinner on its own. The wine was perfect too, excellent value for such a good bottle, it went perfectly with our meal. Despite being here for less than an hour I can honestly say that this is one of the best fish/seafood meals we've had (and we've had multiple Michelin star tasting menus)... excellent value, great atmosphere and friendly service. A must if you're a fish or seafood lover and in the city.

We had been before and were keen to return. Everything was just as good as we remembered. We were hungry and had six starters between four, and all were excellent, especially the chowder, with the possible exception of the crab claws which were a lot of work for very little food and taste at the end. The mains lobster was delicious as was the monkfish. The hungry among us had space for sticky toffee pudding and were not disappointed. Good wine selection, nice beers, attentive staff. If there is one negative, it has to be the location of the table which was close to the toilets and in the direct line for upstairs seating area. So there was endless to'ing and fro'ing of staff and guests aiming for the stairs. Surely this table can be scrapped.

We happened upon The Mourne Seafood Bar just as they were finishing lunch service. It was a cold and rainy summer day and we were hungry and tired. A man just leaving the restaurant recommend it so we went inside and had a delicious lunch. Everything was delicious and fresh and the service was great. As we left there was already a line at the door waiting for dinner service to start. I did not realize this was a noteworthy place to eat in Belfast but see why it is. The decor inviting and the food excellent.
