Moratti Takeaway - Pizza in Edinburgh, City of

I have been buying pizzas here for several years now, sometimes as frequently as 3 or 4 times in a week. Some of the best pizzas I have ever tasted, the world over. (I am restricted, however, being vegan/vegetarian). Made and cooked, within 10 minutes from start to finish, with thick generous crust - just unbelievably delicious. For years I was only paying £4.50 for a 10'' Margarita, only just recently risen to £5.50 (also, as a treat, I sometimes bend my veggie principles by bringing in my own anchovies which they will add in to the mix). My only complaint - occasionally there's a queue of salivating customers in front of me (which is no wonder !)

Very friendly staff and one of the best pizza place I have been . I ordered a moratti pizza was absolutely fantastic.

Bought three pizzas from this shop. They were great, made to order and piping hot. Good prices for the 12 inch pizzas. Would definitely go back as it was just opposite our Travel Lodge. The only drawback was they didn't have any jacket potatoes when I asked.

Council should make investigations . I Held Food hygiene/ catering certification myself , so know the ropes. As for no gloves & cash handling & straight to Food preparation... As for Italian pizza , Not an Italian insight! Just get Takeaway from The Hollyrood 9A instead ,more approachable & professional staff . Will Notify any Tourists Of places to Avoid.

Nos ha salvado dos cenas aquí en Edimburgo , tiene un horario muy amplio de apertura , las dos veces , cenamos pizzas y la verdad que están muy muy buenas .

This pizza was soggy, cold & not even tasty the pizza was extremely salty where its not supposed to be it was extremely thin like paper, but the crust was very thick. My mother got delivered to the wrong pizza and just what my mother needed on her birthday.

Greasy pizza from a tiny place that mostly does takeout. Not too hygienic as the person working did not use gloves or wash his hands after handling cash, went straight to rolling pizza dough.

Our hotel highly recommended Moratti. They were spot on! The pizza was outstanding with generous toppings and at a most reasonable price. The guys operating this pizza shop were very friendly and helpful. This would easily become my favorite pizza restaurant were it in Florida.

Came after a night out, the staff were really friendly and service was quick. My tipsy mate commentated that the pizza tasted just like “high quality Italian restaurant pizza”… which may be a push considering the £4 price tag on the thing, however, will make a drunk lady happy so go here if you want to have a Jamie Oliver experience for a Moratti price 😂😅

After wondering where to go for a takeaway on a recent visit to Edinburgh we decided to try this place.We weren’t disappointed,our pizzas were freshly made in front of our eyes by a quiet,polite man and they were perfect,reasonably priced pizzas.I would recommend this place to anyone.

We ordered a chicken pizza, vegetarian pizza and bruschetta. The pizzas were very tasty american style and loaded with lots of lovely mozzarella and the chicken was seasoned lightly with mixed herbs and was lush. However, the Bruschetta was lacking onions, it was literally just tomatoes on garlic bread. They did provide a garlic and herb sauce free of charge and that was kind of them.

I really enoy eating pizzas from moratti would recomend it ive been eating them for years now good price an nice staff.

The man who served and made our pizza on all 3 occasions was very nice and helpful. Pizza was good. Has lots of cheese too. Wish there was more garlic flavouring on the garlic bread though. Also the only take CASH which was a bit of nuisance on our first day

We arrived in Edinburgh rather late (around 8:30pm local time), and on our way to our renting place, we stumbled upon this gem of a place. We asked how long will they remain open, and we had plenty of time to leave our bags and come back. And come back we did. We met Alessandro, a super friendly gentleman who knows how to make some really good pizza. We were four people in total, and we decided not to miss out on any flavours, so we took separate pizzas and shared together.I am not joking when I say that we tasted simply one of the best pizzas ever, or at the very least to date. And it took relatively very little time to make!The place is best customed for those who order beforehand, and come to pick up their order, simply because the place is too small. I believe it had 2 or 3 tables.Nonetheless, this place is definitely not to miss. If you are in the area, give it a go, you will most certainly not regret it.Many thanks again goes to Alessandro who made us feel very welcome. Cheers, and much love from Malta!

Tropecé con esta joya escondida después de caminar de regreso a nuestro hotel tarde una noche y no pude reunir la energía para caminar la distancia a cualquier comida para llevar. Tenía mis dudas cuando vi este lugar, ya que visualmente no esperas mucho. Pero me alegra que me demuestren que estoy equivocado. Esta es, de lejos, la mejor pizza que he comido. La masa era increíblemente suave y lisa. Las coberturas se cargaron y distribuyeron por igual. Absolutamente derrite en tu boca y digno de 5 estrellas. Moratti se merece todos los elogios que uno podría dar.¡Ahora ninguna pizza estará a la altura!

We went in to the pizza shop and we got ordered quickly. We ordered garlic bread and a margarita pizza. It didn’t take long for them to come. The staff were lovely and the pizza was delicious. It is worth a visit.

Nos alojamos en el Travelodge justo al otro lado de la carretera de esta comida para llevar y tropecé con él a la vuelta de una noche de fiesta. Nos alegramos mucho de haberlo hecho. La comida está deliciosa. Teníamos una pizza Margarita y un pan de queso y ajo. Ambos artículos estaban a la altura de lo mejor que hemos tenido. El chico que nos atendió fue tan encantador y casi no tuvimos que esperar a que nuestro pedido estuviera listo. Hay algunas mesitas adentro para que te sientes y comas tu comida. ¡Tienes que probar este lugar!

Visitar la ciudad para el festival marginal. Antes de nuestro show y para escapar de la lluvia vinimos a comer pizza. Dividimos la pizza margarita, increíblemente cursi y muy sabrosa. El personal fue increíblemente amable y acogedor. Definitivamente vendré aquí la próxima vez que estemos en la ciudad! !Gracias.

For a takeaway pizza joint, this guy really knows his stuff. The pizzas are authentic and covered in delicious ingredients. The pizza is crispy and not doughy, the place is quaint and a hidden gem!

We had the vegetarian pizza on two occasions, with a topping. Lovely fresh taste. One of the best we’ve had for some time. Very close to the Pleasance Courtyard.

We were staying in the hotel opposite and on two evenings we called in on the way back to grab a couple of pizzas each evening. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and the pizzas were great and good value. Credit/Debit cards not taken but there is a cashpoint just around the corner. Keep up the good work.

He comido allí un par de veces, normalmente con un amigo cuando voy a conciertos en Bannermans. La primera vez que fuimos nos dieron un asiento en una de las pequeñas mesas dentro y nos dieron de comer con cubiertos adecuados. Sólo hay dos o tres mesas y la comida para llevar en sí es muy pequeña. Aunque la pizza es muy buena y no es demasiado caro. El personal es bastante amable. Sin duda lo recomiendo si estás buscando algunas buenas pizza para llevar.

Me and my boyfriend went as we were staying in the near travelodge and wanted some cheap tea. It was reasonably priced and the owner/worker was friendly and helpful. We ordered two pizza. For takeaway pizzas they were of very high quality. Not burnt of overly greasy! Better than some served in big chain restaurants. We will definitely be going back. There was also a good selection of drinks and other food products. I would definitely recommend it.

We were staying in an apartment just up the street. This was the closest restaurant. It is very, very small. My husband and I each ordered a small pizza. Neither one of us finished at that meal. It was good. We saved it for another meal.The only worker was efficient but not exactly talkative.

We walked by this tiny place on the way back to our hotel and got three different items to take to the teens back at the hotel. We got a pizza, burger, and a kebab and all were highly rated. There are a couple of tiny tables but most would consider this place for good take away food at a low price. The owner/cook was friendly and we would have gone again if we had discovered it sooner.

We visited Edinburgh and stayed near this establishment. We ordered two pizzas at the restaurant. They came exactly as we ordered. They do not take credit cards so bring cash. They were quick and the pizzas were good. Their is very little room there to eat (two small tables) so heed their name - takeaway.

After reading good reviews, we tried two pizzas. They did not have all the ingredients and they told us. Our two came with a few napkins and that was it. The crust was blackened a bit which I know some people like, but I did not. My son said Pizza Hut would have been better and I'm afraid he is right. No credit card acceptance was realized only when payment was due which took my last cash. It was quick and mediocre.

Stayed at the Travelodge just up the road from this place on Saturday night, and decided to have a kebab from here before ending our night. The Chicken in the kebab was delicious..... Big chunks of moist, succulent, and tasty meat. Top quality, everything made FRESH. Friendly staff too!

It was kind of late dinner time and we didn´t want to go to any restaurant, just eat at hotel room. Tasty small pizza was good for that. Owner (I guess) was friendly ans he told us about Christmas time in Edinburgh. We could come again but shop was closed ar christmas day-sunday.

Superb ! Great prices - paid 11 pounds for a large cheese garlic bread and a pepperoni pizza , all agreed it was the best take out pizza we had ever had ! Fresh dough used and cooked to order - super friendly owner , have a chat whilst taking in the aromas of italy !

After finishing a gig on Cowgate, with the amazing Tales of Two Counties, a short walk to Moratti is well worth it!The Calzone was amazing and the amount of fillings put on all the pizzas is more than generous.It is only a tiny little place but the guy works so hard and is so helpful and friendly - you can tell cooking and making people happy is his passion.If you find yourself on your way home in the wee small hours go and make a call on this superb little takeaway.

Been to this man a fair few times, usually when drunk, and is always welcoming and freindly. Offers discount for students and returning customers which is always a welcome. Rather tasty pizza that is cooked right infront of your face with freshly stretched dough, alwasy fun to watch him worl. Only slight comment is there is sometimes too much cheese which means that the crusty charcoal base which tastes so good can flop, a small drawback. On the whole if you like simple pizza with just one or two toppings it is very good value and easily demolished resulting in a big belly and food coma.

Best pizza ive had in edinburgh without a doubt. Stumbled across this walking home one night and it does pizza, garlic bread , burgers. Small place with one guy running it and its 8 pound for a 12 inch pizza which is good value for the quality. Beats any dominoes hands down

Nous sommes entrés chez Moratti un peu par hasard un soir à Edimbourg, le restau propose des plats assez divers que nous avons testés à deux reprises. Le cuisinier/propriétaire est sympa et accueillant, même si l'endroit est petit et qu'il y a peu de place pour s'installer. Ce n'et pas grave car la préparation fut extrêmement rapide, la nourriture est excellente et très consistante. On a commandé plusieurs choses voyant les prix, car on s'attendait à de petites portions, mais pas du tout : les quantités sont généreuses pour un prix dérisoire.On recommande vivement.

I have been here twice.first time was great.got a calzone full of meat donner meat chicken pepperoni and ham and cheeseon top then went last night and the calzone only had pepperoni and ham in it.went to complain and he called me a liar saying there was chicken and donner meat in it.so what he was saying was me and my boyfriend supposedly went home and atethe chicken and donner meat then complained about it.hes a very rude man and we wont be back.

Visited here a few times during the Fringe. Didn't expect much the first time as it looks a bit run down from the outside but it was close to our apartment and we were too tired to search out alternative food. However the pizza was so good that we kept coming back. You have to also try the garlic pizza bread. All cooked fresh to order, and really good value.I miss the quality, not to mention the price, of these pizzas

First night we had a 'doner meat' each, one with everything, one with nothing but the meat and naan. Absolutely great, and did for breakfast as well. Second night had a pizza each, again absolutely wonderful, prepared fresh in front of us.

The lady and I had just finished one of those ghost tours (she goes to uni here and thus sees but hasn't actually done much of the touristy stuff) and we were both very hungry as we had managed to miss dinner earlier. Almost all the places we came to were closed, including the hotel restaurant. The concierge told us that there was a carryout pizza place nearby. We went in and were greeted by the friendly Algerian chef who seemed to have equal passion for pizza and football as we chatted while the pizza was cooked while listening to Brazil get rather decisively and unfortunately get knocked out of the world cup. Back in the hotel room we were met with a hot, aromatic, disk of flavor surely crafted by the gods itself which served as the key element around which a lovely night of movie watching was centered. All in all a great experience.

Got a chicken kebab and a doner. Doner was fine, but the chicken meat was well off. Went back next day to infirm the owner, he said rubbish, my chicken always fresh. He then got very angry and kept pointing his skewer at us and we left the shop. It was a scary and we will never ever go back to it. Also lots of people hanging around the place. Like a drop off point. Won't be back

When we called to check on our order we were shouted at by the staff who insisted the pizza was on the way without even verifying our order. I called back 3 times over the course of 2 hours, only to be told the driver was still on the way. We only live a 10 minute drive from the store. The pizza finally showed up and we received a few extra things for the hassle. All in all, horrible service, mediocre pizza.

The outside/interior looks a bit dated and scruffy, however dont let that put you off, the pizza is delicious (just stay away from the ham as its the cubed/processed stuff!) the guy who runs the place is lovely, even giving us a discount when a tiny part of the edge of our pizza got burned (and this was after he insisted on making us a new one but we said it was fine!) overall, a brill place for grabbing a yummy pizza after a good night out! :)
