The food was brilliant, couldn't fault it. Very good value for money, great quality food for a reasonable price. Good selection of wines/cocktails/spirits. Staff were excellent. Would definitely recommend visiting this wonderful place.

We booked here because they offer Gluten Free for my partner. Both the GF and normal base pizzas were fantastic! A nice little locally owned restaurant. Will be eating here again upon our return to Ambleside.

Arrived a little early but were happy to accommodate us whilst we waited for our table. Fantastic staff who clearly enjoy their jobs. The food was amazing - the garlic mushroom bruschetta was delicious. The lasagne was huge! Could easily be shared! Excellent value for money too.

Popped in tonight on the off chance and they managed to squeeze us in. We had a camembert sharer and a pizza each. The food was delicious. The pizzas were lovely ,thin and crispy. Reasonably priced and overall very good. The service was brilliant. Thank you to the lovely lady who held onto my phone when I decided to walk off and leave it! We will be back :)

Visited for lunch during October half term, plenty of tables so no waiting to get in. Service was second to none. Food was amazing - pasta dish was beautiful. Kids had pizzas and they were so tasty, first pizza they have fully eaten so they must have liked it. Very attentive service. Relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and staff. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Ambleside and would definitely go back ourselves

We had to wait several days to get in. It was worth the wait. Shame they’ve had to reduce the tables but everything was Covid safe. The staff were polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was great, and despite others saying they’d had small portions ... I can say from my own experience they certainly aren’t small. Nice ambience, and I would return again. Thank-you

Visited tonight as a family of 3. The staff were all welcoming & friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. The portions sizes are very generous. Staff were all wearing visors, the tables are adequately spaced with cleaning going on inbetween people leaving/arriving. The ambience of the restaurant was casual & relaxed. We would definitely visit again.

Yesterday night 25/10/20 , what a lovely meal , but the best was the excellent service received by the gorgeous waiter Jake, absolutely brilliant , efficient, very friendly and with a lovely smile ! Definitely, pay rise !!! Thank you !!!

Great meal here on Sunday 18/10/20. There were 5 of us. My 5 year old daughter had a small pizza which she loved. Great service and very relaxed. Definitely recommend this place for a nice Italian meal if you are in Ambleside. 👍🏼

Had a lovely meal hear last night . Had a lovely seat at the window loved the background music and ambience. The staff were lovely and friendly. Had a sharing board for starters , loved it. Then I had carne pasta it was delicious, I could quite finish it all so they boxed it up for me to take home xx highly recommended thanks

First time we have tried Misto, not been to lakes for about 18months, pre booked and very glad that we did, the atmosphere is superb very trendy, the food is really nice and the drinks are great too, highly recommend this place but make sure you book

Having booked on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews a few weeks prior, we had a table for 8:15 on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full and the atmosphere was great, really vibrant but relaxing to enjoy a romantic meal.We enjoyed 3 courses, and could pick no fault with any - the portion sizes were very big - each of the starters (bruschetta and Prawn/chorizo) could easily have been severed as 'sharing platters'. The mains were again excellent and ample (a pasta dish, and the best lamb cutlets I have had).Deserts and coffee rounded off a top meal.The staff deserve massive credit for the way they approached the 10pm 'curfew' - we never felt rushed or felt the night was affected by this. They were sympathetic we couldn't stay longer but as I say, this wasn't an issue for us and we fully understood.Misto definitely deserves its place as the top restaurant in the area.£95 for 2 people, 3 courses and several drinks - was great value for money.

We had excellent food here, the atmosphere was nice and the service was excellent. The lady who mainly attended to us was the manager and she was really lovely and worth a mention. Thanks for a lovely time.

What a fantastic restaurant with great service and fabulous food. We booked well in advance which is highly recommended and we had a lovely table in the window, and the lighted candle was a great addition. The atmosphere was relaxed but efficient with a chilled vibe. The pizzas were the best we’ve ever had in the lakes and the prawns in garlic starter was very good indeed. The wine we chose went really well with the food and the background music was spot on. Well done on being very attentive on everything including being Covid compliant, we felt really safe and secure.Thank you, we had a great evening and will return when we’re next in Ambleside.

Had a great meal here this evening. Ambleside super busy and we hadn’t booked but the brilliant staff offered us a table outside (there were heaters) and we had a really fun evening. Good food but made special by the excellent team front of house.

We made this our first port-of-call for an evening meal due to its Trip Advisor recommendations. The restaurant itself looks lovely, however we felt seriously let-down by the food. My wife had lasagne and I ordered the Penne Napoli, a simple dish of pasta in tomato sauce/passata. My wife mentioned that her lasagne was very salty; my main course was so salty that I could feel the salt grinding as I chewed. It was as if the chef had accidentally poured the whole of the salt container into the sauce without knowing, or, if he had realised, was seeing what he could get away with. Either way, don't they taste the sauce as part of the preparation? Surely there is a way round this given Covid rules? Taste with a disposable spoon? As we hate to complain and in an effort to make the most of a bad experience and at least eat something, I even tried to use my fork to squeeze the sauce out of the penne and eat the penne by itself, but unfortunately the salt was impregnated throughout, so we left most of our main courses. The desserts and wine were both good, but when we mentioned the salt to the waitress, the price of one dessert was deducted from the bill. We won't be returning.

We got takeaway pizza from here. This is easily the nicest pizza you can get in Ambleside, most other places are very poor. However, compared to places outside of the area I would consider it good rather than excellent. Service was good though and it looked like the place was covid safe when we picked up.

Huge portions and very authentic Italian food! Seems like a lovely small-run business, and the staff were extremely attentive and polite. Italian cooking is all about bringing a few simple ingredients together in a way that makes them taste so much more delicious than the individual parts. Misto have got this down to an art. The food was fabulous.Book in advance - especially if you'd like to bring your dog - as the lovely (safe) spacious layout means seats are limited.

- great portion size (and great quality at the same time)- nice atmosphere / vibe - modern cool and calm/romantic- service excellent- pizza - not enough tomato sauce on the base, super cheesy, but nice and fresh nevertheless- Wine was very nice

We really enjoyed our meal at Misto the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful there was a nice relaxing atmosphere. We were a party of 6 and we all agreed how good the food was nicely presented and very tasty including the wine. I would highly recommend this restaurant it is quite small so you would definitely need to book in advance especially with the way things are with Covid.

We have been to Misto before and we’re keen to visit again on our return to the Lakes, so were delighted to see that they have taken social distancing seriously with well spaced out tables. Our only Covid comment would be that not one member of staff was wearing a mask.Onto the food...we had a sharing plate to start , followed by a pizza and a pasta dish. All were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience. We will definitely return again when we can come back to the Lakes

We have visited in the past and enjoyed it so we decided to book for our anniversary weekend. First impressions on entering were that they have done a brilliant job of socially distancing whilst keeping the character of the restaurant. I had the goats cheese salad for starter and my wife had the mushroom bruschetta. Carbonara for my meal and my wife had a pasta dish. I have to say my Carbonara was the best I have had. Several glasses of wine each too. A lovely evening and made even better by the lovely friendly staff. Reccomended.

Booked Misto for our anniversary. The food was great - one of the best meals during our 5 day stay. Starters and mains were great. We had Panacotta for dessert which was a bit stiff but tasted nice. Staff were friendly and polite and allowed us to hang around for a few drinks while the closed up. It's not your traditional feel Italian restaurant - it feels a little more contemporary.

On our last night in Ambleside we booked a table for eight at Misto, I must admit Italian is not my fav food but I had The grilled lamb chops, oh my god it was the most amazing meal I’ve had.The staff were fab, this place is a must visit.

We booked after reading the reviews on trip advisor and to be honest after our previous nights meal in Bowness that also had good reviews we were slightly apprehensive. I had the king prawns and chorizo to start and they were amazing and the portion size was really big my husband had a basket of bread and it would have done 4 . I had the lasagna for a main and it was really good as was my husbands pizza. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we hope to return in October for lunch .

Travelled from Keswick to Ambleside just to visit this lovely little restaurant.I did some research and this one really stood out! The food was absolutely insane! My boyfriend said the lamb cutlets were the best he’s ever eaten. And my goats cheese pizza was honestly the best I’ve ever eaten. I had a couple of pornstar martinis and they were delicious!Everything about this fabulous little restaurant was a 10/10. The staff were really friendly, the atmosphere was spot on. If I lived closer I’d eat here every single week. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! :)

Wanted to eat here but it was sooo busy. People who booked are inside but it was walk ups outside. Yes we had to wait, not to long, but it was definitely worth it. Good service, polite and helpful. Good fresh flavours in all our dishes. Always busy here so best to book.

Visited as a group of four friends. A fabulous evening- friendly and welcoming staff, nothing too much trouble. Each of our meals was delicious from rib-eye steak to salmon pasta - can thoroughly recommend this venue, just give them a call in advance to reserve your table.

We forgot to book but rang and told to pop down and sit at the window stools and they would accommodate as soon as one became available. The lady serving us was fantastic; very friendly and a pleasure to speak to. Restaurant very reassuring and accommodating for allergies (nut), food was superb and by far the best Italian meal we’ve had in a long time. 100% recommend. We will be going back!

First time here, just delicious! Excellent choice of food, friendly service and great atmosphere. We booked a table at short notice. What a find! Very friendly welcome and socially distanced table. Everything ordered was delicious, kids loved their pizzas and the lasagne was outstanding. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with eclectic background music playlist. We’ve been coming to Ambleside for a long time and this is a very welcome addition.

Fantastic Service, very friendly staff. The restaurant seating is very pleasant and the food was exceptional. Portions are big couldn't manage desert.. Although there was a time limit attached to the table (due to these strange times) we never felt rushed.

Unlike our experience 2 nights prior at Jintana we had a great meal and evening at Misto. Half portions for kids, swapping ingredients basically everything to give the customer what they want. Kids loved their pizza and pasta, the ladies had the camembert and left none. I had the bruschetta with Nduja which was delicious. Everyone had pasta for main which was cooked beautifully and very tasty. All in all I would highly recommend going there.

Lovely atmosphere. Excellent customer service and staff very well mannered and presented. The food was incredible - I highly recommend the calamari to start! I would go back tomorrow it was that nice. Thanks for a lovely evening!

We tried this restaurant on a really busy night, the Carbonara was the best I’ve ever tasted! Nothing phased the beautiful owner, Amy. Super friendly staff the food was outstanding. Steph, Trudy and Tom Cruise, sorry...Jake... we returned to dine again later in the week and that was equally fantastic. The lasagne is to die for!!! Really made our holiday thank you so much, we will be back!! Lots of love and thank you x

We ate here last year & it was fabulous,so thought we'd give it another go. It was just as we remembered, lovely unobtrusive service even in these Covid times, they have it just right. You need a healthy appetite to eat here as the portions are very generous & so tasty that you want to eat it all. Would recommend to anyone & family run is always "a yes from me".

I went with my wife, 3year old son and my mother in law. The staff accommodated our needs for our son's dinner and there was plenty on the menu for my mother in law who is allergic to cheese. My wife and I loved our pasta and pizzas. The staff were great and made us feel at ease during our time there.

We came and visited the lakes at the start of august and came across this restaurant, we hadn't booked and the manager managed to squeeze us in, prompt service, great food and great wine just want we needed after a long day walking. Would recommend to anyone in ambleside. We look forward to eating there again soon.

We had never eaten here before but managed to get a table of four for last Saturday. After reading reports on TA we were quite excited to visit a new place (for us) in Ambleside.There was a really nice atmosphere in the restaurant, nice decor and the lady who served us was so friendly and pleasant.The food was gorgeous, so fresh and tasty and all our plates were cleared.We tried to get in the next night but it was fully booked..boohoo. Next time we are in Ambleside this will be our first port of call.

Visited here on our first post lockdown weekend away and booked in advance which I’d recommend as the place was fully booked. Misto has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly lovely food. We had 3 courses and each one (plus the cocktail) was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding is one of the best I’ve ever had. It is on the pricy side but we really enjoyed it for a holiday treat

Myself and two friends went to a couple of places ( they were full ) and before settling for fish and chips we saw Misto and tried to get a table. they were full except for a bar at the window which is usually for people waiting to be seated or just having a drink. We sat down and a laugh with the staff. ordered and what seemed like no time at all the food arrived. and it was beautiful. Amazing food and a great atmosphere

Friendly restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Service was outstanding and the manageress is a star. Food is very good - anglicised Italian! Healthy portions, nice wine selection at reasonable prices good value for money.

Pre booked which I recommend that you do, people were being turned away at the door. The staff are efficient and friendly , the starters of bruschetta were lovely especially my wife’s choice of wild mushroom topping. I felt slightly let down with my main of king prawn pasta, the dish was just too dry and my wife complained that her lamb cutlets were too fatty. In my opinion I feel the food is a tad too expensive, would we return , probably not.

Attractive Italian restaurant located in the middle of Ambleside, along the main restaurant pitch. Very friendly welcome, which followed great communication to pre-book and confirm our table. Great to see this owner managed restaurant taking the social distancing rules seriously with well spaced tables, use of ppe. Made us relax and enjoy the meal. We really enjoyed our Italian dinner of seafood and great wine, and the kids loved their pizza and the local thunder and lightening ice cream. Overall, all the dishes were well cooked, seasoned and presented, with friendly and attentive service throughout. There was a real passion for using local ingredients. This was our best meal of our week in Ambleside by some margin. Highly recommended. If they had had a free table we would have made a second visit. Highly recommended. I just wish they also ran a hotel !

Ate on the spur of the moment passing this evening. Very busy and were happy to dine outside. Service was good, and friendly too. The food was outstanding. Wonderful pizza, margherita and vulcano, both excellent and pasta arrabiata which my wife and youngest son had and both cleared their bowls. Puds were excellent too, sticky toffee was amazing. Fantastic meal made every bit better by the dine out deal, but would have happily paid full price. Easy to see why you need to book in advance. We'll be back.

Lovely staff, tasty good quality food. Really figured out how to keep people feeling safe, spaced out, everyone to use hand sanitizer on arrival, door open. Just book ahead as it's quite small and unlikely to be able to just walk in. Booked via FB which was a big convenience..

We had a delicious evening meal at Misto. The food was lovely, came promptly and was great value for money. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We sat outside as it was fully booked inside and after eating, we could completely understand why it was fully booked! We would highly recommend visiting this establishment for a meal and would certainly return.

Such an amazing restaurant. The space itself is so lovely, and the staff are professional, attentive, and really friendly! I had a Pornstar Martini which was genuinely the best drink I’ve ever had - big too! We had the Lamb Cutlet and Linguini Gamberi, with Prawns and Calamari to start, and all were really delicious, and the portion sizes are fab. I can’t recommend enough for a nice lunch or fancy dinner!

After a little mix up with our reservation, we sat down to dine and ate delicious Italian food in a relaxing stylish restaurant served by a lovely team! Credit to Amy and her crew it was a lovely meal excellently prepared and presented, worth waiting for! Amy couldn’t have been more helpful definitely recommend Misto if visiting Ambleside!

We pre booked as it was our wedding anniversary. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Nice atmosphere and decor. Food delicious. I had canelloni and my husband had pizza. Definitely highly recommended.

Very well set up for these difficult times. Upon arriving you are met with a sign, outside the restaurant, asking you to wait until you are attended to - this doesn’t take long as it is easy for staff to see. Once invited in you are politely pointed to a hand sanitising station before being taken to your table (which are well spaced). Food was EXCELLENT (best pizza we’ve had in a while and the pasta was beautiful although I did have my beady eye on the lamb). Cutlery & drinks were served on a tray & card machine was sanitised before & after use. If everyone organises themselves like this we’ll all be fine. Will definitely go again.

Booked Misto’s a couple of weeks in advance for a evening meal for my wife and I (plus dog).Very well looked after from beginning to end. I should also mention that we felt safe there with Covid 19 health and safety measures in place and adhered to.My wife had spaghetti carbonara and I had the vegetarian pizza. This was followed by tiramisu and ice cream with butterscotch sauce. Food was very nice and and I would recommend the restaurant for both the service, food and Covid 19 safety measures.Poppy the dog was content and sufficient space to lie down without bothering other customers.

We have eaten at this restaurant before and loved it then. Ate there last Wednesday and had another fabulous meal. The staff are so pleasant - nothing is too much trouble. Plus they are handling the Covid situation with a positive/can do attitude which we appreciated. Would advise booking as less tables than pre Covid and the place is deservedly busy. Would recommend the prawns and chorizo - we shared it as a starter. Delicious.

We booked a meal here in advance due to Covid. On arrival we were welcomed by 2 lovely members of staff who were very attentive. We were taken to our table and advised they do not do a kids menu but would do any pizza or pasta half portion for our 2 children (age 12 and 9). We ordered drinks and then realised they did not sell spaghetti bolognese. I have to admit, one of my kids is fussy when it comes to an italian and maybe I should have realised. We decided to leave before our drinks arrived and apologised to the staff. I did offer to pay for drinks but they didnt allow us too. Spaghetti bolognese is a favourite dish for many, especially kids, maybe you are missing something there.

Amazing restaurant! Faultless! Scrumptious food-we has lasagne, pizza and garlic bread. All fresh, piping hot and delicious. Staff welcoming, friendly and very efficient. Would love to go back.

Amazing!!!!! They have social distancing down, we felt very comfortable. From the first minute we arrived everyone was so friendly. Jake our server was attentive. Now to the food!! Wow wow wow, It was delicious!! Highly recommend this place for fresh perfectly cooked food at a decent price. The home made tomato and basil soup was the best I have ever tasted, served with warm toasted ciabatta bread. We have already booked to come again we were so impressed.

Stopped here for an early dinner after a day of walking nearby. Food was delicious, pasta dishes were tasty and good size portions, nice selection of drinks, espresso martini 10/10! The service was prompt, staff very friendly, Would highly recommend.

The food was very good and the staff were friendly. I ordered the seafood pasta (king prawn and squid) and it was super tasty. The tiramisu is unmissable!

Hand sanitiser available and tables places with very good distancing. Drink served on a tray and left for you to take. Food quality extremely good. Camembert lovely and comes with 3 strips of bruschetta, lamb cutlets main is very large and filling, paste Napoli ample with a great tomato sauce, tortelli creamy with lots of rocket, Caesar’s salad ordered without anchovies but was served with them and no notification on being served!! (No one came back to check in meal, ate round some of it but not all- This was addressed and sorted out by management) Side new potatoes are very nice and ample to share as a side. Garlic bread side comes as a flat round full plate pizza. Very nice. The atmosphere is very quiet and the setting is suitable for any occasion casual or celebration.

Another fantastic meal at our favourite Ambleside restaurant . They have created a fantastic atmosphere and deliver every time on service with both food and drinks . Can’t recommend highly enough you won’t be disappointed .

Visited here when staying at Daffodil Hotel back in March pre lockdown. We chose Misto due to its excellent reviews. We shared mussels to start and had lasagne and steak for mains which we both enjoyed washed down with cocktails, beer and wine. The service was great and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit here again when in the area.

We’ve visited this restaurant a few times now and last went the night before the lockdown began - what a place for our last meal out for a while! The food is excellent here, the atmosphere and the staff too. Make sure to try some cocktails!

We were staying in Ambleside and not familiar with the area so did a TA search and found this place which was perfect.Fantastic Lasagne, good size portions and an excellent wine list all at reasonable price. The staff were very efficient and attentive - all round a very enjoyable experience - we will be back!

We were in Ambleside & came across Misto. The menu looked good (and reasonably priced) so in we went. A lovely waitress came to take our order. I had tomato & basil soup, served with a toasted piece of thick white bread, hubby had the bruschetta with tomato. He had the vegetarian pizza, I had spaghetti with pesto & mediterranean

Absolutely superb food and service. The Restaurant was fairly busy and the waitress was kept busy but coped superbly. Very big portions freshly prepared. I ordered a side of Garlic bread.. Bad mistake.. Nothing was too much trouble here. They even ordered me a Taxi. Will definitely visit again, when I’m in Ambleside.. First Class.

Booked here for a family dinner with 6 of us (+ small dog). Changed it without any trouble on arrival to 7. My wife and I have been here before and once again had a great time. The food was beautifully simple and deliciously tasty, and the staff extremely hospitable. The owner has a lovely smile and a charming manner. The menu is not huge, but I'm always suspicious of enormous menus...I'd rather have a less extensive choice, and be sure that is is freshly prepared.It's a perfect place for the Lakes, and we'll be back next time we're up.

Called in without booking, was offered a table for 50 minutes due to table it being booked out later. We ate our pizza which was excellent then we continued our dessert and drinks sat in the bar. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food. We will definitely be calling in again on our next visit to Ambleside but will book in advance.

Absolutely stunning little place. Food was so tasty, everything was so fresh, this is the best place we've been since we arrived in the lake district. Size of portians - humongous, we could of easily share 1 main between 2 people.Overall, friendly staff, really nice food with reasonable prices.

Warm welcome upon arrival, quickly shown to the table and provided menus, the drinks came quickly for a large group. The menu was not huge and off putting like some, which obviously allows good fresh ingredients to be used, all of us thoroughly enjoyed a 3 course meal. The staff did not rush us at all even though they were fully booked and turning custom away. The prices were also really good.

What a lovely restaurant! In no particular order, the food is outstanding, with a great choice of reasonably priced wines (the Puglia varieties are my recoomendation), very attentive service, and superb ambience (It's a pleasantly decorated place, with a nice modern mellow soundtrack playing). We didn't make it to dessert but I did manage a coffee. Very nice too. Dog and family friendly I'd say this ticks all the boxes. Worth a go for sure!

Firstly this place is just simply outstanding.

It’s disappointing to have a poor meal even more so when the ratings for the restaurant are so high.

Having never been here but seeing the great reviews on trip advisor we thought we’d give it a go & we weren’t disappointed in the slightest! Quite a small menu but plenty of choice, large portions & the pizzas were delicious - we’ll definitely be back!!

We had a lovely meal. When you come across a restaurant where Service is as important as the food you know you’ve found an exceptional restaurant. At Misto we ate delicious food and enjoyed fabulous, considerate service. Looking forward to returning, hopefully tomorrow night - it’s that good!!!

My boyfriend and I went here for our Valentine's date and we had definitely made the right choice for a restaurant. The restaurant had just had a refurb and it looked lovely inside and out. The service was great and all the staff were very friendly and attentive.

The restaurant has recently been done up and is really lovely inside, a great atmosphere. The staff were great, made us feel very welcome. Plus the food was really delicious, excellent portions. Would definitely recommend.

We are regular visitors to Ambleside and this was our visit to Misto. Popped in for a pizza after watching an early film down the road at Zeff’s. It was a cosy, casual atmosphere with friendly service. I chose the goat cheese pizza with extra topping. Hubby had Prosciutto and Funghi. Both were tasty with nice thin crust. However, I can only give 4 stars due to a soggy middle. Sorry about that! There are plenty of other Italian dishes on the menu, i.e. pastas, bruschettas, salads, which other reviewers seem to have enjoyed. This was a very good, quick stop after a film night. I see Misto is currently closed for a refurb. Look forward to seeing what you do with the decor.

Excellent meal for two in this very friendly, atmospheric restaurant. Meal served by knowledgable staff who made us very welcome.

We booked here for new years eve and it was absolutely gorgeous! From the ambience to the meal, everything was just perfect. I had garlic mushrooms on ciabatta followed by the caesar salad and my partner had king prawns with chorizo to start and mussels for main - all of which were cooked to perfection! We already can’t wait to go back next time we visit Ambleside, it really is a must!

Excellent New Year 2019 booked for New Year’s Eve for 2 families totalling 10 people 4 adults and 6 children, the food was fresh and the staff were Friendly and accommodating the ambiance of the restaurant is lovely 😊 thank you
