The best chicken chow-mein i have ever had. Lovely staff and quick service. Just what you need in whitby after you have eaten too many fish and chips.

VERY rude staff, and the portions of meat in the chow main are minuscule chopped little squares of meat. Mean and tight. Avoid 👎🏻

Offers a good selection of decent takeaway dishes served by friendly staff. I would recommend phoning your order and getting a pick-up time because at busy times there can be quite a long wait. But overall good quality and service.

Worst Chinese food ever shocking

Just bought a takeaway and it was dreadful. The chips had been left over from the previous night, the duck had a thick layer of raw fat on it and was scraggy and tough. The meal itself was bland, tasteless and looked disgusting. NEVER AGAIN, AVOID IF YOU DONT WANT TO WASTE 17 POUNDS ON TWO INEDIBLE MEALS.

I’m not really one for reviewing things but I just have to warn people about this place. I ordered a chow mein which is my favourite dish and something I’ve eaten hundreds of times over the years from many takeaways. The food here was disgusting - it’s hard to explain just how bad it really was. It was a sloppy mess which tasted like noodles and chicken has been boiled in chicken oxo. I’d eat a pot noodle over this dump any day of the week. Avoid!

Great food and at a good price!

Chinese take away, only cash payment accepted, friendly staff and quick service. Was disappointed as ordered mixed vegetables in szechuan sauce. When eaten it was not this sauce (not spicy or any chilli as described on menu) it was a watery very light gravy. Vegetables mainly onions, bean sprots and a few bits of baby sweetcorn and a couple of Chinese mushrooms and water chestnut. Rice was nice and tasty but my partner found the curry sauce to be chip shop and not Chinese style.

Ordered Crab and Sweetcorn soup, was really nice BUT 'Crab' was Seafood sticks. It doesn't state that its seafood sticks and not Crab. That's my only complaint.

Been in for a takeaway over weekend, super tasty currys and chowmien dishes, very reasonable price and friendly staffs, highly recommended.

We ordered August bank holiday from this place purely because it was rammed inside with people waiting. We was given a number and was told to collect 45 minutes later due to backlog so we went back to our hotel to collect later. Order Chips 4/5 Chicken fried rice 3/5 Soft noodles 1/5 2X Salt & chilli chicken pieces 3/5 2 Curry sauce 4/5 The food was just ok but then nothing beats your own local Chinese which undoubtedly you will compare to. The soft noodles however were shockingly white and bland but other than that it was very eatable and the chicken was nice and white.

Nice friendly place (staff). A clean waiting area of adequate size. Not a long wait for the food. Their food is as good as any of the best Chinese/Cantonese takeaways I have used in the UK and good sized portions. They have a delivery service which I didn't use, so can't comment on it. Will definitely consider another visit when I visit Whitby again.

Ordered special chow mein (dry) sweet and sour chicken balls and beef foo yung. Based on my experience I cannot recommend this establishment as the food was very bland. Caught my husband adding mustard to his (the only thing we had) to try and 'pep' it up a bit (his words) even the batter on the chicken balls were flat/soggy, not crispy at all. Would not return and again cannot recommend

Stayed in Whitby for Four nights and had two meals from here consisting of Sweet N Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style, Chicken and Mushroom, King Prawn and Mushroom, Fried Rice and Noodles. Was one of the best Chinese takeaways I have had. They dont over complicate the dishes like some places do adding fancy extra vegetables. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely be going again on my next Whitby trip.

I thought I would try this Chinese as it's nearer than my usual Chinese and I can walk the dog there. The hot and sour soup was unbelievably bland, I'm a big fan of hot and sour soup and have eaten it at many Chinese restaurants and this was by far the worst I've ever been served. Im still considering taking it back! Disappointing to say the least. Won't be using again

Went here twice while on holiday, delicious food,great service and good value, can't wait to go again when next visiting Whitby. Can definitely recommend.

We had several different main courses from the Lucky House, ranging from chicken to vegetarian and duck. The overall verdict from us all was that the food lacked flavour and was very bland. The main ingredient in all our dishes appeared to be onion. The restaurant could not (or would not) accept card payment and insisted on cash only - which seemed strange during the current pandemic. They could not provide us with a printed receipt but, when asked, wrote a receipt on a slip of paper in chinese only.

Yes there were some poor reviews when this place was the Mings Palace, but it is now under new management, and is now the Lucky House. Cannot fault the place for quality of food and service - have used this place many times and never once had a single thing to complain about. One of the best Chinese takeaways I've ever used

Staying in whitby we thought we would have a chinese take away, what a mistake we ordered 4 mains with sides got home really looking forward to it and 1 of the mains was wrong we had been given chicken sweet/sour instead of prawn, the sauce tasted of plastic, the 2 chow mein meals had bits of noodles looked as if they had been cut into short strips and all meals were were tasteless so waste of £32.

Super yummy food and great service. We love the chicken balls with curry sauce and delicious singapore chowmian.

Thought it was a bit strange when placing a telephone order and they said it would be ready in 9 minutes! meal was totally bland and tasteless

Had a takeaway on way back to hotel and I really enjoyed the meal

We have been here every summer for the last 4 years, even visiting Robin Hood's Bay. Previous year's visits have been very good, but we noticed it wasn't quite up to its standard this year. Food had less flavour, less meat, and seemed to be plumped out with onions! We really missed the variety of vegetables. It's such a shame, as it really was delicious before, although it's possible we caught them on a bad day!

Pork fried rice was dry and tasteless

Have used this Chinese for 6 years now, and never once had a single issue with either the quality of the food, price or waiting time. Far, far superior quality to the Ocean or Rainbow, and wouldn't order from anywhere else in Whitby. And forget any bad reviews from months and years ago, that was a different management.

Food was lovely would of got 5 stars but told us wait was 30 mins and was nearly an hour

I got food poisoning from there rice and had to call paramedics out because I fainted and my heart stopped for few seconds. Don’t get food from here would not recommend. If you saw how it was prepare through the door open in the back alley you wouldn’t want to eat their food.

We live locally and have used this as a takeaway for several years. The main thing to say is that, in general, the food is not consistently good or bad. It just bounces about dependant upon customer, which ultimately mans tourist, numbers. Quiet and very busy days equal either poorer quality when quiet, and small portions when busy. Even that rule is broken as we have had food rating the best ever and at the other end of the scale took a six month break due to the food being so absolutely awful. (Cold and oily) Overall, it is a restaurant and takeaway in a (sadly) tourist town and the only way to find out what it is like is day to day and dish to dish.
