Ming Long in Thurrock

Great food, great service and reasonable priced I would like to suggest maybe to consider a karaoke night ? Very comfortable setting, relaxed. Personally I feel the restaurant is hidden and not popular? Or just could be the fact it was a Monday when we visited so maybe why it was so quiet! My family and friends love karaoke, and would of stayed longer if there was karaoke 🤣

Have used Ming Long for over 12 years, food is good and still is but the prices have shot through the roof since the pandemic! Ordered via phone two days ago 2 mains 1 rice 2 chips and 1 sauce £36! I decided today to check the menu and my order added up to £30 had it been nearer to order day I would of questioned it. Beware and check your order prices first as I believe this has happened to us before. Sorry Ming Long you have just lost our custom.

Tasty and plentiful portions - particularly the salt & pepper dishes. Wine list could do with some work, avoid the house selections. Slightly disappointing a couple of dishes were unavailable despite our booking being at 6pm. Service very good and friendly.

Wow! Haven’t been here for about two years as it’s just a bit of a drive for me (34 miles)! But I’m so glad I tried it again tonight as the service from both Fye and the Front of House, whose name k didn’t get. Was excellent and the food superb. I tried the prawn wrapped chicken dish and it was divine and the dressing in the presentation was fabulous! It is “just” a little expensive but the quality if the food outweighs the price l!! You must try this venue Guys! Enjoy!

We have just had a belated family get together for Christmas , the food was lovely and freshly cooked , the waitress very friendly and attentive , have eaten here lots of times and food is always nice my only disappointment is the dessert menu not very much on it

The restaurant advertises Sunday Buffet. I called ahead to book specifically for this menu with 15 fellow guests for my birthday meal. I stated that I wished to book for a party on 14 adults and one highchair for baby to come on Sunday 11th Dec for the buffet and the booking went ahead fine. Upon arriving, the server handed us all normal menu's. I said I booked for the Sunday buffett and was told it longer is a offer. The food took a long time to come out of the kitchen, i asked for a couple of prawn crackers for my 8 month of the eat while we waited, which i was going to be charged for, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE FREE ON A DELIVERY AND THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THEY WOULD MAKE OFF OUR TABLE OF 15. I needed to take my baby to be changed, and all the windows in the toilets were open and was like a freezer. No baby changing unit but they provide high chairs?!!! i had to lay my coat on the tile floor to change my son. The staff wasnt happy about us wanted to take left over food home either. I like thier food, but the service and experience i would never go back to the resturant or order from there again.

I do not often visit the restaurant, but have been using the Takeaway since Ming Long opened. It has never been the cheapest but has always been the best. Since the pandemic the prices have gone up, quite considerably, which is I suppose understandable, as ingredient costs and delivery costs have increased. My partner also uses the takeaway, for her and her father, but we have all noticed a sharp decline in the quality and quantity of the products. 3 prawns in a seafood dish is not really acceptable, especially when they have decreased in size, and scallops are virtually invisible. I always give the driver a tip, but now the minimum spend for free delivery is £18, which is difficult to make up when you are alone. It used to be £10 for free delivery. Again this may be understandable, but the quality has nose dived. I won’t be using Ming Long again.

If I could put 0 I would, just horrible! And I've been here many times, so it took me a while to put this review up! It was disappointing in so many ways!

Don’t waste your money absolutely disgusting salt and pepper squid for starters was like rubber couldn’t any cut through it not able to eat this should go straight in the bin, dinner was Hong Kong style chicken and noodle was eatable but not good , should of stayed at home if it wasn’t for the company would of got up and left terrible service and nothing like a Chinese should be.

Where do I start? This place is a hidden gem! The food was excellent, really excellent! It is a little more expensive than a few in the area but the quality of the food soon makes you put that to the back of your mind. There was a new young waitress on when I visited but she did an excellent job in describing the dishes and, indeed, pointing out two that I should try which were great! All in all, a must visit guys! Enjoy!!!

Well, where do I start, food was terrible, overcooked and dry, way too expensive for the area, you would expect to pay their sort of prices in a much more affluent area. Been to this restaurant a few years ago and the food was pretty bad back then but thought we would try again on the hope that there was a different chef, unfortunately the food was worse than before, beyond bad, the only good point was the friendly waitress.

Went today with my partner. Price has increased since we last went before Christmas last year. Prawn crackers are no longer free like before. Cost for two people was nearly £40;which is two mains and pint and a half of orange juice, I know prices have increased but feel the increase is too much. Also no fortune cookers at the end with our bill like in the past. Buffet menu also no longer available on a Sunday.

After paying the bill I noticed a group of us a paid nearly £8 for curry sauce and a small plate of chips. EIGHT POUND!! So over priced! Everything! And it showed the phone weren’t ringing as much and the restaurant was no where near filled as it was the last time we came last year

Pretty below average Chinese. Peking Ribs, what are you doing?? Deep fried in batter, then put into peking sauce? Just serve nice quality ribs, cooked nice and soft, in a nice sauce! Those things had more batter than meat, some didn’t have any meat at all. Utter rubbish. Chicken didn’t taste very fresh either, had that reheated twang. Typical rubbish loaded up with msg.

Crispy beef was ok, prawn crackers lovely. As for the rest - the fried rice was cold, the chow mien was dry, and the Kung Po beef tasted and looked like it had been boiled in soapy water. I wouldn’t eat here again.

I probably should have known better than to order a Thai meal at a Chinese restaurant but this is no excuse to serve me what can only be described as an "inedible piece of filth".When I complained to the staff describing the meal as the worst Thai curry I had ever eaten they simply said that the overbearing foul taste and texture of the chicken fat, which shouldn't be in this dish, was the "corn oil starch which sometimes ends up like this". A totally unacceptable answer to an already unacceptable outcome of a meal...Even though I was only able to eat about half of the meal, I spent the next working day in a lot of physical bloated pain and obvious signs of moderate food posioning. This disgrace of a restaurant needs to be investigated for suspected health violations for the good of the local people.In summary, MING LONG produces appauling quality food and provides a patronising service - an experience which I was obliged to pay for however will never make the mistake of repeating.I feel a responsibility to warn others of the potential health risk they are facing by eating here, especially in this time of a global pandemic the last thing people need is another way to get ill!

We went on a busy Tuesday night to take advantage of the "Eat Out to Help Out" offer. We managed to book a table and parking is free which was good. First impressions were good. The bar area looks nice and the staff were friendly. We were seated but the general surroundings are more cafe/canteen rather than restaurant. The lighting is harsh, the table linen wasn't great (in fact it was paper napkins) and the seats a tad uncomfortable but we were looking forward to the food. We had mixed platters to start that were ok, but a little satay sauce for the chicken skewer would have helped but no problem. The mains were ok, nothing special, just ok and I would have graded a 3 at this point, but the desert was the clincher. I ordered the Ferrero Rocher ice cream which looked great. I was a bit surprised when a small child brought me my desert, she was probably around 10. But when I saw it I knew why, they must have been embarrassed to serve the desert as it looked nothing like the picture. Actually I should have known better than to order a desert from a menu with pictures! It was probably half the size of the picture ( you could guage the size because everyone knows how big Ferrero Rocher are don't they!) and instead of the swirling soft chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce topped by the prized Ferrero Rocher it was solid block of VERY frozen ice cream. I made the mistake of thinking oh I'll eat the chocolate first .... WRONG. It was frozen solid ... yuck. Who freezes a Ferrero Rocher. At this point the waitress came over. She saw my face and said I suggest you leave that to defrost a bit. When I mentioned all the above she just said oh we don't make them we buy them in. I knew that, but does it make it right? And that was that! It ended the night on a sour note. What had been a mediocre night became a poor night. I suggest they ditch the bought in deserts, they're not doing them any favours!!

We have ordered from here since we moved to Aveley last year and we are never disappointed. Restaurant is great and if you'd rather home delivery, the food is delivered hot and fresh with minimum waiting times vwould highly recommend!

We always use Ming Long for our monthly take out treat and have done so now for 6 years. The food is really good and we always have some left for the following day. It can cost slightly more than the other Chinese take away close by it is well worth the extra cost. When we have ordered by phone or gone to collect the staff have always been very friendly and helpful. When they deliver they usually get there timings right and before you order they will tell you if there will be a long wait, especially around peak times. We are very help with the food and service and will continue to eat here.

Lived in Thurrock for nearly 20 years, first time I have eaten here. Fantastic food fantastic service and not over priced. Good selection particularly if you have vegetarians with you. This will be my go to chinese for takeaways from now on and will definitely be back to eat here. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Amazing food cooked just as you like , no request ever too much trouble and staff are very warm and welcoming.Restaurant is decorated in a very traditional style and exceptionally clean. Have visited a few times now and can say this is my favourite Chinese restaurant

Yet another amazing meal at this restaurant. The food is always freshly cooked and on this visit we asked for a dish not on the menu and it was cooked for us. Friendly staff

we was a party of 13 adults and i must say the staff was very helpful ,yes it wasn't very busy but we didn't have to wait long for drinks and food ,Price wasn't that bad it worked out about £20 a head .Yes i would go back ,thanks for a great evening Ming Long

This restaurant is well decorated creating a lovely chinese atmosphere. A good selection of food which was good along with excellent service.

Tried charging me £17 for bean shoots with plain chow mien in sauce,chicken balls and chips that’s absolutely ridiculous

I was with my husband, niece and her partner on Good Friday and decided to book a table at the Ming Long as a trial, as we had not been there for about 10 years due to us moving out of the area. We found the food good, tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and efficient and there was no undue waiting for service or food.

It was the Mrs birthday and we were treated to a meal by the family. We had a great time, service was real good and the food fantastic. Recomend this restrant.

Ordered a expensive Chinese only to throw it all in bin. Warmed up brown rice/ chow mein which I assume is leftover from the afternoon. Waste of money!

Wonderful evening for our daughters 21st. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and brilliant service. Thank you guys you made it a great evening. By far the best Chinese in the area.

Sunday buffet is all you can eat and there was a good variety of dishes cooked well and presented well food was nice Restaurant is clean and staff are polite and friendly and are very attentive. We enjoyed our meal and will go again.

Lovely meal at Ming Long. We went on a Sunday for the buffet and was really pleased with the food, the value for money and the service. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. Will definitely return.

The last time I eat here a couple of years back it was vile, but since seeing the new food standards rating we gave it another try and I’m pleased to report it was excellent quality food (we’ve been twice recently) even the delivery staff are incredible friendly. Roll on our next take-away.

The place is quite a gem in the area: their management and staff alike are really kind and open, they've offered us excellent service and been really flexible with accommodating our needs. We requested them for an event catering in the area so if you do ever happen to be around, pay them a visit, they will make sure you make the most of it.

Most salty Chinese Take Away I can remember having. No need for it, because the food seems to be cooked well. But the dehydration afterwards just isn’t worth it.

Visited here tonight with my husband and 3 year old daughter for the first time and had a pleasant evening with very tasty food!

Our favourite Chinese. Food always great staff friendly always a good time had. Recomended this to lots of friends who also now use it as their Chinese of choice. Try it i dont think you would be disappointed.

Went to the Ming Long Chinese restaurant for a Christmas buffet and was blown away with the choice. We got there a little late but was still greeted with a smile and shown to our table. They cooked our food fresh and the choice of the buffet starter and main course was more than enough for the party of 5 I was in.

We went here for a meal and the food was awful and not a very big portion. Staff wasn't to Friendly. Wouldn't eat there again.

Food was served! Didn't come out very hot. Very overpriced for the portions you got served. Today me and my partner are suffering from tummy upset, what a coinsidence Certainly won't be visiting again!

The food here is good and the value for money is about average. Have only had take out from here and the timescales do leave a little to be desired, but staff are friendly. Will be returning

Un montón de disculpas de personal diciendo que tenía un montón de comida para llevar, así que estaban ocupados! No debería importar sobre el llevar tu voluntad a la gente en el restaurante de comida para llevar! Es una pena porque la comida es genial!

Fuimos con unos amigos, siendo nuestra tercera visita allí. Me acordé de los últimos dos ocasiones, placas en la que la comida se servía eran frías. Nuevo vajilla estaba frío. Aunque mi principal preocupación es que no tienen placa donde colocar la comida que se sirve. Por lo tanto, a menos que comer la comida cuando lo servían, comer comida tibia. Nuestras tortitas con pato triturados eran muy fríos después de la primera. Utiliza Ming en sus mesas calientaplatos largo. Comida fría arruinó una velada encantadora. No mencionamos a la camarera, pero aseguró el tazones y platos de nosotros eran muy caliente. No estaban. La comida era deliciosa, pero tuvimos que comer rápidamente mientras todavía estaba caliente.

Ming Largo tiene un menú muy grande, con una buena variedad de comida, así que no debería ser una de las pocas opciones para todo el mundo. Ofrece unas opciones vegetarianas con Quorn, lo que es diferente a otros restaurantes que he visitado. La comida es bastante buena. To my other half for a meal and decided to stay local to home. There is ample parking at the rear of the restaurant. The menu is very diverse with plenty to satisfy all tastes. It is a small gem in the centre of Aveley.

Had a lovely evening meal was fantastic staff very friendly and helpful cant wait to go again we are hoping to go soon with family.

The choice of food is extensive and always delicious. The service as always is good. Usually have a takeaway, but this was a special occasion so a visit was called for. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, had plenty of refills for the green tea.

Had a lovely meal before going to the Thurrock football club for a party, service was great as was the food.

The food here is excellent. The menu is varied, and I defy anyone to not like it. We have tried several dishes from the menu from Lotus Rice, Dim Sum, Sizzling Dishes of fillet beef with ginger and spring onion, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong Style, excellent hors d'oeuvres, and everything in between. We have had both take aways and dined there for many many months, and we just won't go anywhere else for Chinese food now.

I haven't yet had the pleasure of eating in this restaurant, but I have had food delivered from here. And may I say - it is fantastic! Best Chinese food I've ever tasted. Devivery time is pretty awesome too.

Have visited this restaurant quite a few times. The food is good and always hot. The staff know us now but have always been very pleasant. The dishes are very big so mind what you order. Visited on Saturday the 20th and it was very busy but the service was good. Well worth a try

Great vegetarian selection with quorn. We had sweet and sour quorn balls, amazing.The dishes are huge though and we like a selection so asked for half portions. Highly recomend The currys are a bit dry, only cause the dishes are so packed with veg or meat, so just ask for extra curry sauce.

I can't understand all the not so good reviews of here, everytime we have dined in or had a take away delivered its been spot on and believe me if I could find fault they and you would know about it

My partner and I are fairly new to Ockendon area so we were delighted when we found Ming Long. We have ordered several times for takeaway and the food has always been great, service speedy and phone operators polite. Until something happened on 23rd january which meant we will never order from them again. I had family over, and we ordered abour £50 worth of food, including a thai red chicken curry. The food arrived super quick, however it soon transpired that we had been given a different dish, instead of the Thai Red Chicken Curry. The dish we were given was beige in colour, and had a few chunks of chicken, mushrooms and whole baby potatoes in it, and nothing else. We all tasted it, there was no spice, no chilli, no 'kick' whatsoever, just a creamy, tasteless sauce.Assuming there had been some mistake, as I phoned up and explained to the lady that we had not received our thai red curry, but something else instead and can we have the correct dish delivered. The lady went off the phone for a minute then came back, and said 'that is what you ordered'. I was shocked as never once have I seen a Thai red chicken curry with potatoes and the complete absence of any chilli, i explained this to her, and asked if we could be brought a normal chicken curry in its place at no extra charge, because what was on the menu was misleading, this is not a thai curry! She then refused to deliver anything else free of charge, said we would have to pay, disregarding the fact we had ordered £50 worth of food, and had the absolute cheek to say "Well I dont come to your house and tell you how to cook a roast dinner!" I was genuinely shocked and almost speechless at this woman's attitude and how disgustingly rude she was. All I could say was ' OK well, we wont be ordering from you again' and she hung up. Really bad service.I've travelled all around the world and eaten thai red chicken curry in many different places and not ONCE has it contained mushrooms, whole baby potatoes, and not had ANY spice or flavour to it whatsoever.Do not order that dish from there if you want to enjoy your meal and you don't want an argument from a woman with customer service and obviously cooking skills similar to that of an amoeba.

firstly there's ample parking , the customer service is very polite and welcoming , my wife and I am just back from a New Year's Eve meal , that's was booked at very short notice for 7 adults and 2 children .First the good points the food served is un greasy and very well cooked ,The atmosphere is very quiet with no pipped music ! The staff are very friendly and accommodating .We had family that travelled to eat there has they had been before and loved the food served there . It's a family run restaurant that's personnel and very well decorated with charms of figured dragons and pictures .Ok so the minuses for me the restaurant toilets are not too the highest standard has they looked unfinished due to refurbishment . The parking area to the back of the venue has mattresses and junk laying around that need addressing .The restaurant web site needs to be updated and more informative I would say in brief if this restaurant had some money spent on it . It would be a top attraction for all areas and a gold mine .It's a great place to eat and the food great someone with money and good business sense with a little investment could make a fortune .Will I be going back yes of course well done !

Used Ming Long many times, seen a gradual decrease in quality of food. The time before last food was mushy, last time me and my daughter was bed ridden for days with food poisoning from the rice! Do not eat from there. There should be a health warning regarding this standard and quality of food.

Food amazing, quick delivery, Polite staff. Get lots of food, I can never finish it. Have not sat in but would like to as the decor is good.

I have had a take away from here on a few occasions and have eaten in the restaurant before but not for a couple of years. The food is always good but the price is a little more than elsewhere.

We ordered a delivery from here on Saturday the 21st December! In our order we had chicken balls which we gave to our children aged between 2 and 15 when I cut into mine the chicken was raw And I dont mean slightly pink either it was still like flesh, when I rung them they told me they thought chicken was allowed to be pink!! I will never order from here again they refunded our money and took the half eaten food back all of the children who had the chicken balls are ill including my 5 year old son on top of Christmas this is not right!! Please dont risk ur health!!

Every time I visit the Ming long or have delivered take away it very good, the food quality is outstanding and at a reasonable price, the delivery drivers are always friendly and the food is delivered quickly.If you want to try new dishes visit on a Sunday for the buffet menu (main menu also available)

Came here as a choice for a birthday and family meal! Well the front looks ok but the parking out the back looks like their personal dumping ground its disgusting! First impressions score = 0, following on with drinks! Well dont look for table service with this! Walk to the bar (if you can call it that) and get it yourself! It is also warm! Every drink we recieved was warm! Excluding the draft lager. The ice melted as quick as you put it in there which left you with a horrid watery drink!Following on with the fact they can not get the food to come out reasonably at the same time, it took 20 mins if not more and was cold with Pink Under cooked chicken! Big mistake choosing this place! Couple of us didnt even end up eating and still paid.But glad we have such an upbeat family who can carry on and overlook this for the greater good of the occasion!! I Wont be returning!! Im sure plenty of my family wont be either! Especially with the fact they live 150 miles away!! Sad that ming long could not deliver a fair standard of service.

We ate there a few times, and the best idea would be to go on Sundays for the buffet. The car park is at the front and some spaces at the back as well. the interior is nicely decorated and oriental. It's been a while but I guess they come with soup, a starter platter, crispy duck then two courses of rice and noodles. Our only problem with that buffet was they serve so much food at starter etc we didn't have the appetite to finish the main course, however, they don't let the food to be taken away. On principle we don'e waste food so perhaps it would be better for them to provide smaller portions unless asked for. The other times we ate there from a la carte menu, food was always nice.
