I am a single mom traveling with my two kids from California to London for spring break and my kids are ages 9 and 10. We had lunch at Mayfair chippy and did not plan to order a whole bunch of food but we did want to try their roasted duck dinner. So I ordered a half duck and Xiao long bao, which we could not completely finish. The waiter, an older Cantonese man, gave me some very degrading attitude after I ordered these items and said in a passive aggressive way ‘JUST TWO?’ And I felt compelled to explain that my two kids only eat the amount of 1 adult and we just hope to try the duck dinner. I don’t even know why I felt the need to explain myself and it felt very strange and unpleasant. The waiter cuts me off even before I finished my sentence by saying ‘okay okay’ and left the table as I was finishing my sentences. It was a very passive aggressive attitude. Of course. No smiles or eye contact in the meanwhile. When the duck dinner came, he brought up the side dishes, and he asked me in Chinese - ‘you should know what these are, you don’t need me to explain anything right?’ In fact even though I was born and raised in China, it would be nice for my kids to hear and learn and enjoy the ‘high end Chinese dining experience’. But because this waiter has been throwing me attitude since the beginning, I told him ‘no need to explain’. He asked us if we wanted sparking water or flat water, without saying that flat water is going to be bottled flat water. Fine, he brought up bottled flat water and opened without my consent. I though maybe that was my misunderstanding and didn’t say anything. But as I was almost done eating and asked for the bill, he OPENED ANOTHER BOTTLE of that flat water, again without my consent!!! Our glasses were all half full when he did that without my consent and when I was checking the bill, he forcefully poured into our half full glasses to make them full again. That action as really pissed me off - my family have owned a modern Chinese restaurant and I know all the sneaky tricks waiters do get just a little more money. Service is non-existent unless you splurge. I asked the manager what’s going on here - first the degrading attitude because I order ‘ONLY TWO’ and then this forceful sale of water without my consent. Manager cuts me off and claims he cannot refund my credit card charge, and offered to have me bring the 3/4 bottle water home. We have other plans afterward so I refused. Then he said, look, the two bottles are $11 pounds, he will just give me $5.5 back in cash. I told him this is not even about money, his employee is outright rude and judgmental. I do not even think ordering a duck dinner and another side order is considered too little, we could not finish the food either. The service here is bitter and very judgmental - they will judge you and provide minimum service if they think you are not worth their time. Very unpleasant experience. I feel discriminated, judged and treated unfairly. Food was sub par - roasted duck in LA is way better. Beware.

Mongolian beef...was beef with commercial sweet sauce. Lemon chicken was fried chicken under lemon sauce Two pieces of boiled fish under soy sauce Fried rice with duck...I saw no duck Boiled broccoli Loved this place but has gone downhill through cheap ingredients and combinations at least on the set menus.

Visited here with the expectation that it would match the Singapore branch, and it did not. We did not order the duck so I can't speak on that. Steamed pomfret was odd with the standard Cantonese style sauce, but was thrown off by the sambal on each piece and was honestly a little icky. Beef ho fun had oddly overpowering flavours of sweetness and ginger that ended up being off putting. Service was good, and the atmosphere was lovely with a nice view and this place in general is considered high end. But the food is simply a no go, unfortunately. For this price you would eat much better in select Chinatown spots, but you'd lose the lovely atmosphere.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, a family gathered here for dinner. Since it was New Year time, it was packed with guests. We reserved a sliced duck (a must-order when visiting). The duck meat was fragrant and smooth, and went well with their homemade chili. Oil, very delicious. We also ordered typhoon shelter lobster and snowfish, plus crab roe tofu. It was a perfect meal. Personally, I felt that the satay sauce with the snowfish was too strong and overshadowed it, but it was still very good. Next time I will come for tea at noon.

The service is very good, it is recommended to book in advance. The roast duck is very delicious. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance and come to eat around 12 noon or 6 pm when it opens, because the duck meat is hotter and tastes better. The restaurant is on the tenth floor and offers views of Hyde Park and the London Eye. Desserts and fish tasted good, tofu didn't.

I've been to this restaurant quite a few times and this time I felt very bad, apart from the girl who was responsible for servicing the wine, it was obvious that I could feel some indifference, some kind of coldness from the other service staff, which is very different from other restaurants in the London whether it's a Chinese or a Western restaurant. We came here for the Peking Duck and were not disappointed. The dining room is very elegant and might feel a bit intimidating when you come with the family. However, the atmosphere is relaxed and there is plenty of distance between the tables. The view is also a plus. Service was friendly and efficient. The highlight was duck, and the kids were impressed when it was carved at the table. It was delicious: the first serving with pancakes and the second with fried rice. We also had some Dim Sum, with the Xiaolongbao being the favorite one. We also had some good Jasmin tea (pot with bag). Overall, a great lunch experience.

I am writing to bring to your attention a highly disappointing experience I recently had at your restaurant. My visit today was marred by numerous instances of poor service and unwarranted rudeness, prompting me to share my concerns in the hope that improvements can be made. Throughout the lunch time, I encountered unfriendly and, at times, outright rude behavior from your staff. Serving utensils were seemingly tossed onto the table, and dishes were cleared without regard for whether guests had finished. This lack of basic courtesy significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. What deeply troubled me was the apparent disparity in treatment between guests of different ethnic backgrounds. As a Chinese guest in a restaurant labeled as such, I expected a more inclusive and respectful atmosphere. Regrettably, this was not the case, as I observed preferential treatment towards white guests, contrasting starkly with a dismissive attitude towards Chinese patrons. Furthermore, the reception staff handling my booking displayed extreme rudeness, neglecting the significance of our special occasion. This was in stark contrast to the apparent warmth extended to white patrons, who were offered assistance with coat check while Chinese guests were ignored. Such experiences are disheartening and do a disservice to the reputation of your establishment. I believe that all customers, regardless of their background, should be treated with equal respect and courtesy.

We had a wonderful date night eating here. We had a dim sum platter, including lobster dim sum, to start which in my opinion was better than Yauatcha's and more reasonably priced. The duck was incredible and watching them carve it in front of you made it very eventful. You get two courses with the duck, the classic duck with pancakes and then a second course of your choosing - we went for the noodle option. Portion sizes were generous and forgetting that duck is very rich we somewhat over ordered by adding a sea spiced aubergine as well. We spent about £60 each which included 3 non-alcoholic drinks which given the quality of the duck was very good value. The service was a bit curt but they did have to deal with some very demanding customers around so can understand why they're not the warmest. The view of Hyde Park's winter wonderland at night was gorgeous too, and this is coming from someone who really doesn't like winter wonderland! Would absolutely come back here again.

The dish: Stir-fried Corn-fed Chicken with Sweet Basil in San Bei Sauce was absolutely abomination as the chicken was not fresh and taste like the left over was served again after few days… the server told me the chicken was from yesterday, even he might be right, but the taste was a big face lose for any Chinese cuisine. The fried noodles was too greasy and all our family felt sick after the dinner, not any contaminations, but just too greasy… The soup: wild Mushroom Soup with Pak Choi… unbelievable horrible taste… they put too much salt and heavy herbs and this should be called salty Chinese Medicine instead… check out the colour man… The restaurant was old fashioned but with good view, so the 2 stars are for the view and some other friendly staffs. The first thing you note here, is that the view is stunning. It is a lovely setting, overlooking Kensington Gardens and the whole of London as a backdrop. Our table was not ready on arrival, and we were seated at the bar. If I was slightly critical, I would suggest that no-one taking a drinks order whilst we waited was both a missed opportunity and also a lack of good service. Once seated however, our service was excellent with a very friendly waiter. The food is decent. It is not the best Chinese I have eaten in London (Mandarin Kitchen in Queensway, My Old Place in Shoreditch, Shikumen in Shepherds Bush probably take those honours - with each having a different positive) but it is a good Chinese meal in a lovely setting. The price is a little on the punchy side, for what it is, but that goes with the view. Would I return? Possibly. The view is the only reason for justifying it above other places I enjoy more.

In the heart of High Street Kensington, there's a delux hotel called The Royal Garden Hotel, where you are welcomed by the beautifully dressed doorman. Then in the lift, go up to the penthouse, (10th floor), you arrive at Min Jisng. This is a chinese fine dining restaurant, with exquisite views of Kensington Park and views of many iconic landmarks. As for the food ... where do I start? Well, we started with soft shell crab. It's one of my favourites. This was all the things it should be. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, yet still moist on the inside. Added to that was some dim sum to try ... the prawn was big & juicy, the crab amazing too, pumkin with seafood was delicious, and the jade bamboo, a veggie one, touched all my tastebuds. The Venison puffs are unbelievable. Flaky, light, crumbly pastry with an exquisite smooth venison filling. Then, Soup dumplings. Something I've never heard of! I believe it's chicken filled with soup, so be careful and eat over your bowl from your spoon. This is served with a vinegar dip (but i wasn't keen on the vinegar bit). Then, one of their specialities, Wood fired Beijing Duck - hand carved at your table with pancakes, hoi sin sauce, spring onions, cucumber , crushed garlic, pickled radish, and pickled cabbage. Wow!! The duck was incredibly moist with a crispy outer ... divine As if that wasn't enough, we also then had Kung po prawns - large king prawns with cashews spring onion, lemongrass, and chilli ... wow!! Also, Mongolian beef - bit spicey but melt in the mouth delicious and some noodles they mixed up with some of our left over duck and some Choi sum (similar to pak choi) so we at least had a bit of greenery 😆 To sum out, definitely one for a special treat as prices arnt low but worth it for the divine food and views of london

The view is simply stunning at lunchtime. The food is falling short, however, for this location and price level. The dim sum is lovely but not reaching a wow level. From the viewpoint of a Shanghainese, xiao long bao has nice skin with just enough amount of elasticity and stretch, but the filling is a little dry and rough. Service is generally friendly and prompt, though the veggie stir fry somehow arrived later than the roasted duck. Beijing roast duck turns out to be more like Cantonese roast geese. The duck skin is not crispy, and there’s still a layer of fat between the skin and meat. The soup tastes good though— the soup is mildly sour and appetizing, and there’s actually duck meat in it. The flavors in general are tasty and gentle, feels like simple home cooked comfort food. The desserts, similarly, are less than amazing. The warm five spice sponge tastes more like carrot cake, with cinnamon standing out. The miso and whisky was not detectable in the caramel sauce. The more traditional choice, mango cream is too heavy comparing with the more refreshing lighter version. Perhaps there’s too much cream in the supposedly cooling dessert. I might only come back for business lunches and will skip the duck.

Had a birthday dinner, the view was good, can see the whole Kensington garden. The food is decent quality and the service was good. The waiter helped unpack the birthday cake and sang birthday song. Good memory.

I loved this place! Really great food, everything tasted so good. At the same time, they have a great view as the restaurant is located on the top of the hotel. The restaurant is cosy and the personnel is very serviceminded and sweet. I also got an orange juice (pressed in thr restaurant from really oranges). I will definetly visit this place again when I come to London

This is one of our favourite restaurants in London. The restaurant has outstanding views over Kensington Palace, the gardens and London. Bookings are essential and my helpful hint is: book early because this restaurant is heavily booked out in advance. My second helpful hint is: you can sometimes snag a table as a walk-in (as we have) but not often. The menu is typical but the dishes and flavours are anything but. The food is outstanding. Exquisite! Service is fabulous. This restaurant is not cheap but it is worth every cent. There is a small bar that you cannot book but can go before and after dinner. There are quite a few seats. We often have an after dinner drink here and simply savour the atmosphere and the meal that we have just devoured:-) Enjoy.

Fantastic Peking duck. One of the best we had. Very friendly staff. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking, overlooking the Kensington Palace and park. Very easy for hotel guests as well.

We mainly came to enjoy the famous Beijing duck (since going to Beijing is really not going to be an option for a while...) but had to try some of their other dishes too. We loved all the dishes we had - the prawns with salted egg yolk and pork floss was all the childhood favourite flavours combined in a way like never before, the cheung fung was delicate and stuffed full of charsiu, the xiaolong bao full of umami rich stock... The cocktails were also delicious and great to see so many tasty non-alcoholic options. Having read some of the reviews regarding service, I can only say that we had a great experience. Booking was easy and allowed pre-ordering of the duck. The welcome was effusive and friendly. The service was attentive and our water glasses never dried. The waiting staff spoke Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Our waiter mixed Mandarin and English with ease as we responded with both. The restaurant suffers from broken AC which clearly affects their bookings but we were pre warned and, even on such a hot day as Sunday, the room felt warm but airy. We sat back and enjoyed the views as we imagined we were in a Hong Kong summer. We'll definitely be returning. Update: We returned for a dinner and it's still great!

The restaurant has delicious food and a gorgeous view of London over Kensington Gardens. The service was attentive. We ordered multiple starters and mains which 4 adults shared having a lovely taste of lots of dishes from fish to duck.

An excellent Chinese restaurant in London. Wonderful views from the 10th floor of a swish hotel overlooking Kensington Gardens. As previously intimated by Jay Rayner, the wood fired duck that is on offer here is outstanding. Many other dishes impressed us, including the xiao long bao, fried tofu with bonito flakes and the gong bao shrimp. Service was very swift and friendly. Prices are in keeping with the location and very high quality of food and service. Definitely a special treat, this restaurant rightfully belongs in the uppermost echelons of Chinese restaurants in London right now.

Regrettably, the dim sum at this restaurant is exorbitantly priced, yet the minuscule portions offered leave the palate yearning for more. All the dim sum were akin to a kids menu portion. It is with great dismay that I must also mention that the flavors...
